Crab Spinach Mushroom Frittata with a side of home fries
    Lauren G.

Arrived 10 minutes before they opened on Saturday, while reading the menu on their porch, staff member welcomed us in early and got us comfortable with a cup of coffee while they finished opening up for the day. The food was absolutely excellent!!! I got the frittata special - crab spinach and mushroom, with a side of home fires. Absolutely recommend! Super cute cafe!

A pace to come for breakfast. It is a Quant small restaurant in a neighborhood. I ordered the quiche. I was looking for a nice slice of quiche instead what I got was something that looked like a slice of pizza. It was very thin. I liked at the table across from me, and their poached eggs looked terrific. They only have regular coffee in small cups. They have free refills. They had some other interesting breakfast choices. I would come back to try them.

There are just so many things to like about this place. It's in an area that is untouched by the encroachment of the "newness movement" engulfing Wilmington. The place itself is in a small house and they've painted the interior and exterior i bright, fun colors. The staff are always pleasant and smiling. I just always feel at ease as soon as I walk in. To top it off, the food is sensational!!! Their Benedict's are the best in the area! Go eat there! You'll enjoy it. Oh! And they have a free little library out front! Books and breakfast! Yes, please.

    Le Monsieur with tomato Soup

Stopped by during a time period after lunch. I was drawn in by the quaint coziness. Was not surprised by the simple menu and ended up with tomato soup and Le Monsieur. It satisfied my hunger, nothing more. The waiter was pleasant and the decor was welcoming. The food arrived fast but was a bit dissatisfied that the soup was lukewarm.

Mimosas please? Yes, thank you. Our waiter recommended a peach infused mimosa and we were not disappointed, it was the right amount of sweet. I had the Strata which was a breakfast casserole and some bacon on the side. My boyfriend had the french toast casserole with bluberries. He had an egg and sausage patties on the side also. The bread was super moist, it was delicious with the syrup and you can't beat fresh berries over anything. There was only about four berries though, a couple more would have made it just perfect. The sausages weren't my personal favorite (little too greasy for me) he enjoyed them! The service was great, really tasty food and all around wonderful time.

I've been meaning to make it to Jester's for a while and finally went with a few friends this weekend. We were seated quickly and loved the atmosphere (it's an old house with tables scattered throughout). Everything we ordered was fantastic. I believe the strata was the collective winner, but my husband enjoyed his quiche and my friends liked la madame (though one recommended getting le monsieur instead as he didn't think the egg added anything). Service was a little off - ordered OJ and received peach juice, given a check to sign with no pens, etc. However this will not deter us from returning. Excellent reasonably priced breakfast option.

    BLAT w/ side salad

We happened upon Jester's Cafe looking for brunch in the down town area to meet family and friends at. We had no idea what we were walking into but had absolutely no regrets. We had a table of 8 that included 2 small kids, they took a moment to put tables together and sat us comfortably. The restaurant was a house and it was remodeled but they still left the old house charm. I was pretty obsessed with the inside. I ordered the B.L.A.T. with a side salad and ate every bite. The BLAT had a special sauce that made it perfect. My fiancé had the country Benedict and house fries, he also loved it! My sister had the French toast casserole and thought it was perfect. Overall everyone had a great meal and we all would return! I recommend!

It was great weather this night, so we opted for an outside table that was in total shade. Very comfortable. Our server came by for drink orders. We had no appetizers this visit and went right into entrees. We tried the Port City Burger, the Gnocchi with chicken, cilantro lime shrimp quesadillas and the salmon tacos. Everything was delicious. The only complaint I would have is that the Salmon Tacos was a bit small. The dish is two small tacos with a side of tortilla chips. There is no salsa, no pico de gallo, no slaw. I was actually sorry that I didn't get an appetizer. I was still a little hungry after I finished. We didn't want any of the dessert offered this time. Again, everything was great. Service, food, atmosphere, outside patio. Just my dish was a little less in size. I will keep that in mind next time we visit. I'm not sure something like this would be changed on the menu, but I still wanted to voice my opinion. Still a great place with a great menu and service. If the weather is good, opt for the patio. It is really nice sitting out there.

A table arrived after we got our appetizers and got their food, a box, paid, and left before we even ordered our entrees. Each drink took minimum of 15 minutes and were incorrect. The server had to come back and double check multiple orders. We were not checked on once unless we flagged her down. The list goes on. Will not return unless we order take out.

The Chicken & Waffles were the standout. The chicken was crispy on the outside, juicy inside, and paired perfectly with the sweet syrup and smoky bacon. A great balance of sweet and savory flavors. The Spinach & Swiss omelette was light, fluffy, and packed with flavor. The spinach and melted Swiss worked well together, and the home fries were nicely seasoned with peppers and onions. The English muffin was a simple but welcome addition. The bird & Brie sandwich was another winner. The brioche bun was soft and buttery, while the brie added a creamy richness that elevated the sandwich. The arugula brought a fresh peppery bite that kept everything balanced. Overall, the food was fresh, portions were generous, and everything was cooked well. The home fries were crispy and flavorful across all the plates. Definitely a solid breakfast/brunch spot that I'd visit again.

I worked at a diner for 5 years with fresh squeezed and this was fresh out of a box maybe. They don't have a lot of their menu on weekends which is unique, it's typically reversed. They should have a weekend only menu tho as it's frustrating to order things it says they have and they don't. A LOT of fried or super heavy options. I came bc it said fresh but I guess deep fried fresh food is still "fresh." Plates and majority of glasses are plastic. No matter how fresh or not the food is, you still need to eat microplastics. Sugar on the table is all plastic wrapped fake sugar it was impossible to find just REAL raw sugar. Feels like they hopped on a fresh health trend but have a hard time walking that walk.

At this point it was about 9:15am and I saw Brunch Thyme was open. Not doing a lot of research I walked over and assumed it was a sit down restaurant but quickly learned that it's actually take out. I think the worker saw the disappointment on my face when I walked in and she offered me a small foldable table to place outside which encouraged me to stay. My partner ordered the fish n' grits and I ordered The Frenchie which both turned out to be great choices. The fish was seasoned well, I believe it was whiting and the grits were rich and creamy. It came with a delicious gravy that we didn't notice until the meal was almost finished but ended up spooning like a soup. My French toast and eggs were tasty as well. For drinks they had canned Coke products, apple juice and bottled water. Sitting outside was hot and the bugs were constant but I was thankful to have a place to eat because again, I walked here (about 20 min). I observed many people eating in their cars or simply taking their food to go. With this, I also saw a few groups come and go as they didn't realize it was a take out style restaurant.
