So little time, So Much Vintage! We had a great time perusing Jet Rag on our vintage shopping adventure. Arrived in the AM around 11 and were immediately overtaken with the amount of everything here! There was just so much to browse and see! The best part is that the prices were actually very reasonable! We spend the time there trying on a few things and getting ideas of things we want in our wardrobe (i need a kimono now and a crochet blanket!) Although we didnt leave with anything i can totally see myself here again to browse. I know i missed so many things with the limited time i spent her. Customers service and being greeted are the first things I look for when I go to a new establishment. Unfortunately, the staff here is very rude. I was looking at patches which is right in front of the register and the two employeee were just talking to each other. No acknowledgement. Aside from the terrible service, the parking lot is TINY and good luck backing up on such a busy street and nothing here is a good deal. The prices of things are Macy's prices, but everything has already been worn. I would look elsewhere. However, they have a wide selection, which is a plus. "It was my mom's in the 80s!" Vintage. No, Jet Rag ;) This super cool secondhand store off La Brea Avenue on the cusp of the FairFax, Melrose, Hancock Park, Hollywood and West Hollywood neighborhoods is a very cool find. Was only a few days old when I discovered their weekly every Sunday $1 sales - definitely coming back for one of those. Popped in on a good recommend from my friend Grizzly (Grizz for short), who is becoming some what of a regular. I did discover some amazing boots, hats, shirts, caps, hankies, ties and various finds. I will some some things surprised me in terms of price. While a quality tie in premium condition should be of a certain range I certainly did not expect one to be $24 dollars. Maybe half that amount or a good $9 to $10 less. Not the best a full figured, plus size, thick person variety. Though I did find some great 2X items I'd double back for. I'm a size 13 shoe, so a bit limited here too. Service is phenomenal. Security, helpful as well as personable. Parking is pretty much street as the lot is the bare minimum of parking lots. And their lot on Sundays is used for their big sale. It's mostly street metered in the area or a short metro ride over depending on the direct you're coming from. Tons of women's, men's, youth/kid, teen and various styles for all. As well as open to all. Explore the upstairs as well! They do ask that you leave your bag at the register where the will keep an eye on it on their nicely displayed shelves for bags and belongings of all sizes. Lots of groovy glasses, accessories and even complimentary Wi-Fi. Stop in from 11 AM til 730 PM seven days a week, or until 7PM on Sunday only. read more

You'll find some amazing, rare vintage items at competitive prices, and on Sundays, their $1 sale is amazing. Be prepared to dig and wear comfortable clothes, but you won't regret it. I've spent many hours browsing racks of vintage jeans & T-shirts on a Saturday. Lots of other items but my jam is jeans & shirts. Occasionally I spot a leather jacket but 70's leather does not fit. Not sure if it's leather shrinkage or my expansion but it's always the same issue. But fun seeing the vintage leather my father use to wear back in the day. I came here with my friend on another friend's recommendation and am thrilled at the great deals one can find! . On Sundays they set up small piles outside the store where all items are one dollar and it's cash only. I sifted through the different piles of clothes and found black pleated pants, a coat, a green and cream printed scarf and a couple other one of a kind finds. I was short one dollar for the six pieces I picked up and the gentleman that was running the outside booth let me have the 6th piece for free! . Inside the store is definitely more pricey, but rightfully so. Everything is organized by item. Any and everyone can find clothing that aligns with their style here. Large space packed with fun things. Tiny parking lot (about 5 spaces). Otherwise it's street parking on La Brea. Great (amazing, actually) selection, very well curated & organized. One could spend half a day perusing & trying on clothes. Prices are ok. They definitely know what they've got, so prices reflect that. You're unlikely to find some hidden treasure for a steal due to them not knowing the value of the item. They clearly only select good stuff in excellent condition for sale in the store. Some items may have small flaws, but for the most part, everything is in great condition. Service is OK. The staff was friendly & helpful when asked, but not proactive or very "customer service oriented." I imagine they spend their time tidying up & organizing since the store is very clean & even though it is crammed, nothing is out of place, on the floor etc. My only real complaint is this: their posted closing time is 7:30 PM, but they actually close at 7:23 PM because apparently the cash register shuts down then. Subsequently, the dressing rooms close 10 or 15 min before that. After I had selected $175 worth of things to buy, I had to cut my shopping short when they surprised me with a 5-minute warning earlier than I expected. I would likely have spent more. As I checked out & started pulling cash from my wallet, I was directed to a note taped to the counter explaining they couldn't accept cash. That would be the first time any customer would be aware of this. I had just spent 2 hours shopping & was now made aware my cash would be no good & my time had been wasted. Needless to say, I was surprised & irritated. I was told they did not receive their cash delivery that day & were therefore unable to make change. As I contemplated my next steps, I was told they would try to make change as best they could. In the end, they were able to give me correct change, so all was well. It was not too busy on this Wednesday afternoon, so I enjoyed my time here. This was not my first time at Jet Rag & I live close by, so I expect I will be back. read more

I know I tend to hate on Hollywood. I don't have any problems with this place though. I remember it from like 15 years ago when I first moved here and they're still alive and well. 3 star average eh. Sorry guys no one cares about your opinion. And since no one cares about mine either, I will just say what I want. This store serves a good purpose. If you need kitschy, vintage, unique, costume-y whatever stuff, there is a decent chance you'll find it here if it isn't in stores. And everything is reasonably priced to me. Yes friends, they still have to turn a profit, so my deepest apologies that people pick on you on Sundays when everything is thrown on the ground for a dollar. Maybe work on your warfare tactics. I'd shop here for regular stuff honestly. It's a consignment/vintage store and it is definitely one of the better ones. The stereotype about Hollywood having good shopping holds true in this case. No problems for me. They have 432 signs on the front door one of which is you can't bring your purse in. Can't say you didn't see it. Don't like it, go away and be mad. Watch some videos on retail theft in this state and maybe you'll drop the attitude. And if stuff's too expensive for ya, guess what - it's because of retail theft + cost of living. Super cool vintage store with a vast variety. Once you walk in you are taken to another place entirely! There is so much in here! I really like how organized this store is not only by garment but also by decade! Prices are clearly marked and in all honestly are fairly reasonable. Many places i have been to are very picky about trying on the clothes but here you are more than welcomed to. The store itself is two floors and has items ranging from accessories, shoes, dresses to jackets, shirts and military items. When you come here be prepared to take the time and really look at the items they have. Super neat store and super cool to see how fashion has changed over the decade. On sundays (with good weather) they also have a $1 pile sale! Still one of the better priced vintage stores in the LA/Melrose area, but I'm between a 3 and a 4 on our recent experience there. For those who enjoy thrifting and upcycling, the 99 cent sales on Sunday at Jet Rag are the stuff of legend. Imagine hundreds of clothing items thrown out in the parking lot, literally on the floor, with countless thrifters picking through them. Most items are stained, some have holes, but hey at 99 cents, if you are patient, you may find at least one or two items to treasure. Inside Jet Rag, they have an excellent selection of vintage belts, shoes, and dresses and given the outrageous prices down the street at their main competitor, Wasteland, you may be able to score a few great deals and reuse some classic pieces. On the down side, their policy of taking your purse while shopping is tragic. I don't care how bad your inventory loss problems are folks, there has got to be a better way to stem loss than demanding all your customer's purses. Now I get collecting backpacks, totes and retail bags, and its certainly reasonable to store these behind a counter, but purses (!!) are a personal item and asking every female customer to leave their purses (keys and wallets) behind a desk with a stranger for the privilege of shopping in your store seems a bridge too far and frankly, targets female customers. Why don't you just take those guy's wallets too, while you are it? read more

Vintage collection is impressive and pricey considering a lot of the clothes are not in great shape (maybe at first glance but seams are ripping and the furs are coming up on the corners where they're sewn in on more than one jacket). They have a huge selection of everything ranging from 1950s pantsuits to cheap tourist stuff (sunglasses and plastic rings and plastic earrings). You can overpay for just about any article of clothing you can imagine here. Sizing is not inclusive and the plus size section is small and in the way back corner of a side room. Any clothes that aren't an authentic vintage are priced as though they're new and trendy (they're usually neither) - cotton tye dye t-shirts are over $20. Jeans run around $40. Flannels are $20-30. Shoes will literally have a sticker from target with the price badly scratched off and charge twice as much? Staff is neither friendly nor unfriendly, just pretty focused on making sure you're not stealing. All in all this would be a lower review but I have to give it to them that the Sunday sale seems decent and I haven't been. It seems like pretty much the only thing people like about this store is the sale. It seems like their clientele is not the type to to shop at a real thrift store. As someone who grew up in a family that relied on secondhand stores, I definitely have a bias against these boutique stores that have the audacity to charge $28 for a pair of Charlotte Rousse shoes with black footprints permanently imprinted in them from previous wear. Tourists- go here for selfies and the Sunday sale. Vintage collectors- check out the collection, I don't know what the appropriate pricing for a lot of these pieces are People who rely on secondhand clothing stores and anyone who wants to shop more ethically- make your way to one of the lgbt thrift stores or the bigger ones in less touristy areas. To store management- I seriously recommend you price your items fairly or at least do a better job scraping off the evidence that you're trying to upsell your used shoes read more

I called prior to going and spoke to Andrea ( Andreya) which she was so friendly and had great energy about her which brought me to the store. Andrea was the most helpful, friendliest, professional, creative sales queen ever. Give this woman a raise cuz she is a great asset to Jet Rag. All the people working there are super cool I ended up changing my idea for a costume after brainstorming ideas with her and boom success. Very happy with the outcome. Thank you Andrea for your patience you rock. There is limited parking however I didn't have to wait too long for a spot. This place has a lot of variety and interesting items. My son had a great time. He has some great deals. Though most of the clothes are either worn or ripped. He just heard about this with his teenage friends. Since teenagers now like vintage, this is the place to be. $1 special for Sunday. We came in at 1030am and there's already a line. My son went, and I stayed in the car. I gave him a big plastic bag to put all his stuff. Mostly teens. Being N95, change of clothes after you dig in to pile of clothes, long sleeves preferably, wipes. Boil the clothes, 'coz you never know. My son said it's an 8/10 experience, it's fun but took him time to find clothes he would wear. Done with this place- they let resellers be so out of hand and aggressive the Sunday sale isn't even worth trying anymore. You can be lined up patiently waiting for the bundles to be open and someone will say excuse me and then stand in front of you. Excuse me is for passing, not budging. Then the resellers grab EVERYTHING. Like not a scrap of clothing left on the ground now- and you get to stand there for whatever they don't want. Hadn't been to their Sunday $1 Sale in awhile, unfortunately no cool finds for me there. Nonetheless the concept & activity is somewhat fun, I'd definitely recommend for tourists, vintage lovers, or if you're looking for clothing to upcycle /modify. The store was impressive. A bit overwhelming with the amount of stock, I can only imagine it'd take you hours to go through everything. Good selection of Levi's, all sorts of random jackets - can be great for a costume party or simply vintage hunting. First off, I'd like to say that this review is SOLELY for the outside dollar sale on Sunday and mostly just for the older man with glasses (Joe I think?). The Jet Rag employees are amazing - especially Andrea and Fatima. This incident alone has made me so uncomfortable that I will not be shopping at Jet Rag anymore. I will also tell my family and friends to do the same. I work in influencer marketing and will flag this to LA based influencers and PR agencies as well. I've been shopping Jet Rag's dollar sale for years and never had a problem until today. I bought 11 items and put the bag in my car, then was going to shop inside Jet Rag but ended up getting 7 more dollar items. I went to the register to pay with my card and the older gentleman with glasses said that I didn't buy enough stuff - you needed to have over 10 items to use your card. I showed him my receipt, which showed that I bought 11 items 15 mins ago. He did not go over the logistics on why this was the reason and told me I had to get 3 more things to pay. I try to be as sustainable as possible and don't want to buy things I don't need, so I asked him if I could just try to show my old receipt at Jet Rag. He starts YELLING at me, clearly irked that I was asking for a workaround. At one point he got pretty close to my face and lunged over the table to snatch my clothes. He THREW my clothes behind him and glared at me, making me so uncomfortable that I almost had a panic attack. I asked if I could pay in cash (I had to ASK, he didn't even offer it as an alt) and started counting my cash and only had $6....the items were $7. He watched as I only counted 6 bills while i KNEW he dollar bills for change. I was going to ask him if I could have a dollar and Venmo/Cash App him, but was too afraid to after he lashed out at me. I went in the store and asked Andrea (Jet Rag manager) if there was a workaround. A Jet Rag employee, Fatima, kindly offered to give me $5 so that I could purchase my items. I went back to pay for my things in cash. He grabbed my things and started YELLING at me saying that I had an attitude earlier when I was trying to ask for an alternative. At this point he's yelling even louder than before as he yanked the bag out of my hand (I was honestly so scared that he'd reach over and hurt me), and threw my bag of clothes. He said "if you're giving me attitude you can't buy your stuff." I calmly explained that he was the one who was yelling and giving me attitude while I was asking him questions which I think made him believe that I was being defiant. At this point I'm scared because he was yelling very aggressively all the while his wife and son were bystanders and did not intervene, even when they could see he was yelling even louder than before. I was about to ask him if I could please just pay for one my things because one of the items was sentimental. My friend passed this week and loved butterflies and I found a butterfly crop top that reminded me of her. He refused to let me grab any of the items and told me "no one can help you, not even the store manager. this is what you get for giving attitude." I walk into Jet Rag on the brink of tears and explained to Andrea what had happened. She is shocked because she acknowledged how much I went through just to get the cash. She tries to reason with him, but he's rude to her as well. At this point I'm so overwhelmed and anxious so I gave up on trying to buy the items I understand the gentleman had to follow the rules about the clothing minimum, but he should've explained that in a respectful manner, not YELL and throw my things. I am extra cautious around hostile people I don't know, especially with all the hate crimes against the AAPI community. Please share this information with your friends who thrift! Wow this thrift shop is huge and everything is excellent quality. They had endless dresses, shirts, pants, shoes, hats, etc. Perfect if you're looking for vintage or costume looks. They even had kimonos and wedding dresses. Lots of accessories too, bags and belts and even wigs. I dropped by to donate some vintage clothes I had from my grandma. Staff is super nice. DO NOT USE THE CHANGING ROOMS HERE if you are a woman especially. A couple of weeks ago, I came here for the $1 Sunday sale for the first time and after picking from the piles I went inside to continue shopping and try on some clothes. While I was changing, a shady looking employee with shaggy hair and super tight pants (I learned his name is CORSH) decided to walk straight over to my changing stall and looked OVER the door I was changing in and we made eye contact in the mirror. I yelled at him that I was in the stall and he scurried away. This whole situation was recorded and I requested the playback footage shortly after this happened. When I came out of the changing room he was acting shifty, avoidant and straight up strange. Long story short, I felt very violated and spoke to the manager along with several employees about this man and everyone was saying how strange and creepy it is that he did this. The manager sort of implied he had to ask Corsh if it happened and that's when I told him to check the cameras. I had to follow up 3 times that day to even get them to hold this man accountable. I asked to speak to him to his face and he kept pretending to be confused, as if he doesn't understand how to behave in a clothing store where there are objectively vulnerable changing rooms that don't even lock. He said stuff along the lines of: "I didn't mean to, it was an accident I didn't even see if anyone was in there" and blah blah blah. So you look OVER the door to see if someone is in the stall? When IM looking for an empty stall, I look for FEET underneath to avoid seeing people changing. Duh. Nevertheless, they didn't fire him, didn't comp my clothes (I spent $95 that day) and the manager even told me this is something that has happened to several other employees. So... if you're a woman, DONT change here because clearly they have a creepy peeping Tom problem amongst their staff, even when we all watched the video footage together of this man trying to catch a peep of my naked body. 0/10 service and I'm still considering notifying the police of this man since it is all recorded. Corsh's consequence was cut hours and they only did that because I was persistent and threatened a case against the store. As a woman and frequent solo shopper, this whole situation genuinely traumatized me and Corsh only got a tap on the wrist. So gross. read more

The store doesn't allow bags inside including purses. Yup, not even your purse can go inside or they will take it from you to hold. I've never been anywhere that doesn't let you shop with your purse. Still love coming here. Nope, I have not changed my mind. I arrived Sunday AM for the the notoriously cool Sunday sale. As soon as the shop attendant overviews the shop rules & cuts the final plastic bands and says "GO"! ...Everyone's favorite part is diving for the clothes. It's a fun chaos that erupts. People are given 30 mins to sort through their bundle of clothing items in their designated area before placing it back in the "Free For All" pile. Must not go too far from the site while sorting through the clothes before purchase. I would advise people to wear comfortable shoes, bring a snack and maybe an umbrella for shade. Pick a designated spot or bin to place the clothing items you may purchase during the clothes grab. read more

Would not recommend. The interior of the store is very nice, there's a lot of items, and the workers are friendly. Fun browsing. Here's the downside: They took my friends purse away right away. I guess to avoid theft but that's what cameras and security is for. The clothes aren't outrageously priced by normal standards, but for a thrift store they are. The jackets were particularly costly and some of the used items could be found cheaper elsewhere, and brand new at that. I ended up paying over $40 just for two shirts (a type of belly dancer tank and ombré sequined tube top) and a cap. This wasn't a huge issue to me until I noticed the tube top had ZERO stretch making it extremely hard to get on (I gave up) - and the tank had ripped threads and pieces completely missing on one side of it yet it costs $18. I usually look thoroughly when thrifting but I didn't think I'd have to look THAT thoroughly or that they'd even sale items that faulty. Other than that, even though they have a store full of things (and GREAT music) there weren't many options for someone young. (I saw a lot of older *even grandpa age* folks shopping in there during my visit*) Whatever I did find ended up being too "worn" looking/faulty. Overall this place didn't meet expectations and I'd be very hesitant to go again. I've had better experiences at goodwill, you probably would too. read more
