Their payment system was down yesterday so we couldn't buy the coat we wanted We've been looking for one just like that for months and took the day off work to go looking We offered to run across the street and grab cash but they said they'd just hold it and we could come back to get it later in the day when the system came back up When we got back they had sold it and were mean to us about it ! My first time at Jetrag and I went on a Sunday afternoon. My sister stayed to dive into the $1 sale of rags. I decided to step inside and skim through the bottom floor first and found myself browsing through real vintage apparel and costumes. After skimming through, i decided to go to the second floor and found a better assortment of clothing that suited me. There were clothing items that were worth the price, and others that were too expensive. Nonetheless, I did find a nice neutral faux fur pullover sweater with a zipper and a tee shirt. I was not too excited to only find myself purchasing these two items so I added two cute hair scrunchies. When my sister and I paid, we got greeted by the employee working the cash register while she loudly munched on chips, offering her other coworker some. I do not care for workers eating, but she shouldn't be eating while attending a line and while touching people's clothes. Moreover, she proceeds to check-out my sister and then me. Once she got to me, she tells me the faux fur jacket did not have a Jetrag tag so they could not sell it. I was still unsure because it was my first time there, and the collar had a $19.99 price on it, so I tell her ," Oh. Even if it has a price written on it?" She sort of rudely says, "It cannot sell without a Jetrag tag." I kindly reply, "Oh okay." So I pay my other items and I pull out $15 cash and my card . Before even counting my money she states, "Oh sweetie, you need a minimum of $8 on your card." But what she said went over my head then it registered, so I try taking away the $5 to give $10 in cash and the rest on my card ($11.90), but she weirdly says again,"No sweetie, you need $8." She honestly lost me. I did not want her to look dumb in front of people, so my sister just helped me out by putting it all in cash. Will not be coming back because this employee was not helpful and thought I was not doing my math correctly, when in reality, she was not. To top it off, my "new" $14.00 t-shirt came with several holes. You cannot really see it as you purchase because it's a dark grey tee. And you would not expect their tees to be ripped because their t-shirt section is color coded and looking brand spanking new. I agree with that other customer, I had a better experience at Buffalo Exchange. read more

This was an interesting stop during our LA trip. The shop has a mix of vintage, repurposed, and eclectic clothing arranged more or less by era. I read reviews ahead of time and was sure to not bring a bag in, so I didn't have any awkwardness with the staff or anything. I mainly looked at the dresses and found many things I could easily have found at a regular thrift store, but mixed in were some true vintage treasures-- the only problem is those dresses were marked way up. Like the one I liked the most was $200. I think this place is great if you are looking for a vintage look, don't normally shop vintage, and are willing to spend money. If you are a regular thrifter-- this won't at all feel like a gold mine. The products are marked up much higher than I was expecting. If you thrift shop regularly, I guarantee you and find similar dresses in the $10 range. This is a consignment shop, so if you live in the LA area, it might not be a bad idea to list some items up in there. It may be better for sellers than for buyers. read more

The selection is UNBELIEVABLY vast, and the store is really cute, but the staff can be dodgy at times.

RUDEEEEEEEE!! They look at you like you're a criminal upon entering, it made me feel so uncomfortable. I was holding glasses my gf was going to buy (2) actually, and the security rudely came up to me and said he needed to take them Bc if I were to drop them and break them that I would have to buy them. Pretty disappointing stock. All grandma dresses and absolutely no one there helped us. There were maybe 3 other people shopping in the entire store and I stood by the counter waiting to buy something and no one helped me. They were there behind the counter, just ignoring us. So I ended up leaving and not buying anything because the staff acted like we didn't exist. Used to love this store but I don't think I'll be going back. read more

Could be a bit more organized, and a bit more friendlier. The early bird really does get the worm here. You have to pay for the items you choose outside before entering inside. No purses and/or backpacks allowed inside. By the time you do make it in there be prepared to window shop because it is expensive as heck. The Sunday $1 sale isn't all that. It's all dumped on the ground and takes forever to shift through. It's like walking through a bunch of rags. Inside the vintage clothing is overpriced. Try buffalo exchange instead. They are far more reasonable. Although if you're really looking for a costume I guess this would help that. read more

Gigantic Selection! "If you do the time, you may find your fine (treasure)". Jetrag has a huge selection. Within that vast amount you may find a precious jewel for your self. Bring lots of time and a discerning eye to discover that which you may happen upon. Staff is super helpful and very friendly. I recommend this store. Although, the store is organized well, it is overwhelming and signs for different areas of specialty would assist you in finding/organizing what you may be hunting for or your creative mind might be looking to happen upon. 4 stars is simply related to the gargantuan stock that can be a bit daunting. read more

I went to the one dollar Sunday sale!!!!!... that sadly I will never go back to again, because I went in the store with my friend and they asked to take my purse... I left the store and I was missing 20 dollars straight up. Also they don't even ask nicely they take you off guard saying "can I have your purse" and I was like" um my purse I'm sorry?" And the girl said "just your purse I need it" and she was trying to hand me a colored clothes pin?? And my friend had a small little purse and I had a medium size Coach Purse. But my friend was able to keep her purse?? Also, what can anyone even steal from there? All the little things are up front in cases. What am I gonna do steal a pair of shoes? Where would I put it? Ahh so annoying never going back. Also my bag is tiny. And I walked in with it on my shoulder. Like ?? She literally threw my bag in cubby all aggressive. Holy crap. I came here on Sunday with a seasoned Jet Rag Sunday Sale friend, who completely talked this up. And yet, I was still overwhelmed. So we get there around 9 to start going through the 'leftover' piles. So, I've done my fair share of flea markets and thrift stores, but this is like a psychotic hybrid of both with a healthy dose of competition (I literally overheard a Hollywood hipster saying it was a 'fight for fashion'). So the piles of clothes went on for days, and I swam through them to find some cool stuff (even cooler for being a dollar!). But you want to hear about the scramble, don't you? So, as legend has it, at 1030 the plastic wrapped piles of clothes are released and the fight begins. There was screaming. There was kicking. There were hipsters fighting over pastels and ironic tee shirts. It was utter madness. I freaked out and went with our plan, to grab as much as we could then go through the pile. I did end up with three dresses and two jackets, which was, oh yes, five dollars total. Overall, a cool, if not terrifying experience. My tips for next time: -Wear running shoes -Have a full breakfast -Don't be intimidated by hipsters (I totally ended up talking to Cory Kennedy) -Stop name-dropping Cobrasnake (CORY) -Bring a power bar -Be prepared to fight They fight dirty out here. I stopped by because my friend wanted to take a look at their Sunday sale. I tried to go inside and the guy sitting at the door stopped me and said I cannot go inside with my purse and I had to leave my PURSE in the front of the store. My purse? Really? There was a girl maybe 15 feet away that had her purse. I asked why she could and I couldn't and he pointed to a sign It said no bags over a certain size allowed inside. But Both our bags were about the same size. Not sure if it was a race thing or what his issue was with me but he definitely was not treating us equally. And He had a bad attitude. Had a horrible experience in this dusty ass second hand stuff shit hole. Was told there was no restroom not a problem walked to a grocery store a block down the road. I come back and the lady is all pissed saying that I have to get back in line. And I tell her I left to use the restroom but she didn't care so I asked the ppl in front if I could just cut them since I was already here and they were understanding about the hole situation... OMG this place is so much fun! I went to Dollar Sundays this morning. I showed up around 10:30 and they had opened 3/4 of the lines. I spent some time looking through the piles on the ground and was able to find a cute blouse. I lined up around the bags when the guy was opening them up. We weren't allowed to touch anything until the guy went all the way down the line but once he told us to go we went crazy!!! I followed everyone's example and just grabbed as much as I could and threw it in to a pile on the side. Half of the clothes I looked at had holes in them so make sure you watch out for that. This place is perfect for anybody that knows their way around a sewing machine and is willing to do some of their own alterations. It's kind of a bummer that the majority of the shoppers there are resellers so if you aren't there when they first open up the bags there really wouldn't be much. Make sure you read the signs when you park!! The meters turn on at 11 even during Sundays. read more

$1 Sunday Sale review: everything was in piles on the concrete floor outside the store. The clothing was what you would expect to find at a $1 sale: some damaged, stained, torn, etc. The weather was hot today but luckily they provided shade for half the area. It is difficult and tiring to dig through, but it is a unique thrifting experience that could lead to some inexpensive finds. I bought a small scarf and an oversized graphic tee. Might return on a cooler Sunday in the morning when the clothes have not yet been picked through. read more

PISSED because #1: a worker STOLE something out of my bag when it was behind the counter because of their store policy. I've been in thrift store that ask you to keep your bag behind the counter - fine. I had to hand over my purse (I took out my phone and wallet) PLUS my shopping bag of purchases from other stores. I had just purchased the item from another store and once I left Jet Rag I took an Uber home to find that THEY STOLE FROM ME. There is no way anybody else could've stolen that one item from my shopping bag from the time I was at the previous store to placing the bag in their care and getting inside an Uber to go home. #2: The dude with the blue Mohawk ripped me off at the register. I bought one jacket - regular price $28. Two skirts - both from the 50% off room priced at $14. He tears the price tags off the clearance items, rings me up, and says to me TWICE that he took 50% off of the skirts. Turns out he rang me up $12 for a skirt that should have been $7. SO. Not only did the worker rip me off at the register but one of the employees stole from my bag that they stashed behind their register. Do not shop here. I went here on a Sunday because a friend suggested I check out the "$1 Sale". WOW! This place was a mad house. I could NOT believe how many POUNDS of clothes laid in massive, disorganized heaps on the GROUND. I was NOT in the mood for rummaging. I was not in the mood to wrestle with "bohemian" types and wanna be hipsters on a Sunday morning. If you like to dig, elbow, smell nauseating odors, and rifle through piles of clothes, then $1 Sundays are perfect for you. I went inside the store and nearly suffered another heart attack. Every inch and corner was stocked with vintage clothing. I couldn't handle it. The clothes are so tightly packed and stuffed on the racks that it's difficult to search. I could appreciate that everything was nicely labeled by era and style, but my acute ADD could not handle the million areas that my eyes wanted to see and my hands wanted to touch. I left the store after 5 minutes. I've had better vintage experiences at stores in San Francisco and Etsy.com. GO if: a. you have time b. don't mind digging c. like people d. don't mind the snotty, smelly sales people (um, seriously?? This is the OG thrift shop with style... Before all the trendy 'vintage' stores in and around the Melrose strip were popular. They're all mostly gone but Jet Rag has remained... I remember when it was in a tiny storefront across the street. Jet Rag has withstood the test of time... Where else are you gonna get Dollar Sundays? Jet Rag has that in their parking lot EVERY Sunday. You might have to get on your hands & knees to do a little rummaging but you might just find that proverbial diamond in the rough. I used to go to Jet Rag for flannel shirts back in the day. And embarrassingly enough, a cutoff flannel shirt was bought by me one time. Haha... I cannot lie. I thought it was styling back then. And before you get it twisted, yes I wore an undershirt WITH sleeves with it. It was the style, I swear!! I used to also go to Jet Rag for jerseys. Those hardware sponsored weekend baseball game type of jerseys... I always dug those. The price was always fair, sometimes it was even a steal. Their buyer does a good job. Nowadays I like to go to Jet Rag if I need an aloha shirt or Hawaiian shirt, as it's more commonly known. I've found some good ones that have remained in my possession for years. None of which I've had to pay more than $13 for. Now that's what I'm talking about! These are authentic aloha shirts that are from Hawaiian clothing companies. I only buy legit brands because I wanna know that the shirt actually has ties to the islands.... I've gotten a Cooke Street brand aloha shirt which I wear to luaus and any special occasion that asks for Hawaiian attire. cooke Street is out of Honolulu. That's the quality I look for and Jet Rag has 'em if you're willing to look. Go to Jet Rag... You might just find something that will stay in your rotation like I did. Yes, the pile smells. Yes, slim pickings. Yes, $1! I don't shop vintage regularly and I don't know the difference between "vintage" and downright disgusting used clothes, which is what I found at the pile sale this past Sunday. Though, I did arrive at about noon. I was on my way to DNA when I saw people poring over the mounds of clothes so I stopped by. Found about 3 unique items among the stained, ripped, gross stuff. Narrowed it down to 1 because the asian-print dress was not worth mending and the frilly scarf would have been awfully uncomfortable. Lot's of hipsters trying on 80s cupcake dresses and windbreakers with corporate logos that must've been given away when they were new. Honestly, it's fun for like 5 minutes, but I can probably find better stuff at the goodwill where it's at least slightly more organized. read more

I would give 0 stars if it was just based on the rude people working there. I was attracted to come here because I saw all of these clothes in the parking lot which was for a $1 sale which is pretty cool and I was across the street at the framing gallery so I was like why not. So then I walk into the store with my small Bottega Veneta purse and the man at the front says I need you to check your bag and I was like I don't have any bags, I just have my purse and he said it's company policy to check your purse. So I said fine I will put my purse in my car across the street. I'm not going to give my $3500 purse with all of my important stuff in it to a stranger. So then I walk back into the store and all of these women are carrying their purses. There was a woman which a huge Michael Kors purse. So that makes perfect sense, make the girl with the Bottega check her purse and let the woman which the Michael Kors in the store. Clearly they don't know brands. So I said something to the manager about not being treated fairly and he just blew me off. If that is your policy, treat everyone the same. I am all about integrity and fair treatment towards others and I feel like I was not treated that way. They do have cute merchandise but I ended up leaving as I couldn't stop thinking about the way that I was treated. They ruined the experience for me. read more

If I'm rating this store strictly on the guy's stuff, I'd probably go below 3 stars. Much of the store is filled with vintage western stuff, which unfortunately isn't my thing (otherwise I would really clean up here.) However, the girl's selection looks to be a lot more varied, including some great 60s pieces. Prices could be a little bit cheaper, as a lot of vintage requires alterations which adds to the final cost. Still, the store is rather large and you can probably find some good deals if you spend a while. read more

Jet Rag is one of those places that is known for a lot of its 1970's nostalgia. But that is not the reason I go there. I was originally attracted to the dusty boots in the window, but upon browsing, I found out that they have a lot of vintage surf wear and such. I'm not a surf person at all, but what got me was the simplicity of some of the old-school Hawaiian prints that I came across. They were different, non-trendy, and just very simple styles. The items I found so far are just simple blue-white or green-beige hibiscus prints. Not too busy like today's Hawaiian prints in watercolor tones. Furthermore, I think the neighborhood is mostly Jewish. And I never see any of them wearing Hawaiian prints, so that makes it a little ironic. I don't know if Jet Rag is a place some of us would buy a new wardrobe, but you can find those weird-looking pieces that will accentuate a basic outfit very nicely. I always get compliments on the stuff I get from Jet Rag and its sister stores, especially the (vintage) Hawaiian prints. read more

This place has such a nice selection of leather boots which is an item I have wanted for a wile every size you can think of. The store is a but disorganized unfortunately and I did get a bit lost the Harley Davidson section was empty but I found pieces in other sections. Pieces I did find were decently priced though so you will get a bargain. If that doesn't convince you to shop here the male sales clerk with the piercing on top of his nose was soooo handsome and had the biggest booty ever sooo that was a huge plus lol read more

This is a HUGE 2 level vintage warehouse style shop with the most organized & well maintained sections by eras. The staff here are friendly and do a great job in making it easy to shop. Dresses for example are organized by era , sleeve length and colorized. Everything is cleaned & ironed too. My friend and I spent a few hours and found reasonably priced gems. Most of the dresses ranged $22-$35, blouses $14-24. There is also a 50% off room with more clothing . Prepare yourself for a few hours of treasure hunting or going back into the 50s, 60s, 70s and 80s!! I usually hit all the vintage shops on Melrose but this is like all of those shops combined! read more

HORRIBLE WORKERS. I drove up from San Diego excited to shop . After digging thru the piles of $1 items I had 55 items. The young male cashier was polite and rang up my transaction correctly. He took my $100 bill and gave me back the correct change. I counted it back to him showing each bill making sure it was correct. I asked for a receipt but there was none. We were walking away when a female worker came towards us claiming we took to much change. I tried to explain we didn't but she just kept rambling off numbers UNABLE TO DO THE MATH ON A CALCULATOR. She wouldn't listen and was just hostile towards my daughter and I and was pretty much up in our face treating us very rudely. When I asked for a manager she claimed she was the manager. At this point things were escalating to a point where my daughter had to say "DON'T TALK TO MY MOTHER THAT WAY" . At some point another female worker entered the discussion and was equally hostile and would not stop talking for a second claiming she saw the incorrect transaction also, however neither intervened during the transaction and waited till we were done and walked away. At some point the other worker who was also rude and scowling at me the entire time claimed she was also the manager but "DOESN'T KNOW HOW THINGS WORK HERE" when we mentioned that "MAYBE YOU SHOULD GIVE RECEIPTS!" The first worker starting speaking to my daughter in a way that angered me where I had to get in between because she kept moving closer and say "DON'T YOU SPEAK TO MY DAUGHTER THAT WAY!" It turned out the cashier told the first worker 65 and with masks and the businesses of him trying to cash out very impatient shoppers, and her goal of playing manager she felt the need to run after me, a 50 year old disabled woman with a cane, and argue with me without taking the time to actually listen to a customer. I was very excited to drive up from San Diego and shop with my 3 daughters and had even mentioned that maybe we can make a trip every few months since I resell for extra money for them while teaching them second hand is a good way to help keep clothes out of landfills. If I could leave NO STARS I would. I'll be sure to inform my fellow thrifters to stay clear of this place as well as my big community of people who are on limited income who are always looking for affordable places to shop. There are some occasional wondrous treasures to be dug out here, amid a sea of grimy cheap quality '80s and '90s ware. I admit it's satisfying when you pull a treasure out of the wreckage, but beware, some of their treasures are way overpriced, sometimes their decade of origin has been mislabeled, and all of their clothes have been price tagged THROUGH the cloth. Here's one example of all three issues at once: a could-have-been-treasure mutilated by their price tagging, not from the '40s, and obviously overpriced. I wish they took more care. read more
