Kind of an unorganized silly and a bit of a ripoff. OK...so the sandwich was good and the soup was too but the overall feel was of disorganized silliness with the attitude of you are lucky to be getting a sandwich from us. To explain: Went in cuz it was nearby and we could eat outside but the patio was silly crowded with chairs and tables...way more than could be used if there were actual people in them..as it was they were half full but everyone was cramped due to all the furniture. Take out a few tables and chairs and problem solved. 2nd, the ordering system is silly with the cards where you check boxes for what you want. For one thing it is a waste of paper, for another it is confusing (and there is another form for kids meal). I felt like I was doing my taxes. Ultimately I think the only reason they do it so they can hire staff that has minimal English ability. 3rd Drinks are expensive. $2.25 for a fountain drink?! After shelling out $8 or more for sandwich?! more on this in #4 4th back to the drinks...and the chips...there are no prices for drinks or chips ANYWHERE! And they are not on the silly order form either (unless I missed a form?). So, in my case I forgot to order a drink..which is probably best as I might have had a heart attack if I had seen the price, or worse realized I had paid $2.25 for a serve yourself drink. When I mentioned to the staff that they they might want to actually post the prices of the drinks they looked at me like I was from another planet. The look of confusion was hard to believe. Is this a "if you have to ask then you can't afford it" type drink fountain? I think maybe this works out great as people don't realize how much the drinks are until it is too late. I actually just grabbed a bag of chips without paying. I thought, for the price, they would have been included. . The only way I knew the drink was not included was because there were no cups out so I asked....forgot to ask about the chips though...we just ate them. If you are looking for a great sandwich, you will not find a better place than Jetties in DC. The bread is locally sourced and tastes incredible. In addition, the turkey they use is fresh roasted turkey, not the deli kind. The Pocomo sandwich is my favorite. It's portabello mushrooms, butternut squash, and goat cheese spread cooked in an oven on multigrain bread. Yes, it is not cheap, but these sandwiches are meals within themselves and you will get exceptional bang for your buck. Word to the wise, you are usually better off price wise selecting one of their premium sandwiches than making your own. They also have Gifford's ice cream, which is as good or better than Ben & Jerry's. Cherry Blossom and Muddy Boots are my favorite flavors. read more

I have been eagerly awaiting the opening of this new location of Jetties, and my first try tonight did NOT disappoint! I had the Pocomo, but swapped goat cheese for havarti (I'm not a goat cheese fan; what can I say?) It had roasted butternut squash and portabello mushrooms and was on a toasted multi-grain bread that was so yummy. It was DELICIOUS. The ingredients are clearly fresh, they're tasty, and it was a pretty original pairing (I'm not a vegetarian, but sandwiches like these make me think I could be...) I also appreciate that they are open til 9 pm on Sunday nights...it's nice to have places to get a later dinner around Chevy Chase! read more

I love Jetties. This really should be 3.5 stars, but its not worth giving 4 stars. The flavors don't seem to be as deep as they used to be. I also got caramelized onions added to my nobadeer sandwich, but found quite a few pieces of the onion paper. Please change your Door Dash settings to allow special requests. I'm allergic to both mayo and your multigrain bread, and it is ridiculous that I can't even ask to hold the mayo or use different bread. It's not like the sandwiches are premade. I have ordered from this Jetties several times through DoorDash. 90% of the time that I have ordered several of my toppings on my salad have been missing, but they charge me for these extra toppings. When I call the store to complain, they are unapologetic and offer nothing. So they basically get away with highway robbery. I do not recommend this store. They are terrible! read more

Jetties is a beach-style sandwich shop started in Georgetown and now a presence in the DMV. I love their Maryland Crab soup also, but their sandwiches are what should keep you coming back. Oh Jetties; I wish I could quit you. Wait, no... I wish I could get you! I was first introduced to Jetties in 2012 when I went to work in the Woodmont Triangle. Their Bethesda location was right around the corner and I was an almost daily visitor. The first time I had the Nobadeer was akin to the first time I heard The Beatles. I live on the Van Ness end of Chevy Chase so I never bothered to go into Bethesda on weekends just for lunch. Then, something magical happened. One day I noticed a banner in the window down the block from the Avalon. My dreams had come true, a location near home. I will say this; parking is anything but ideal. If you're already shopping at Magruders (or like to ignore their parking lot signs) then awesome! If not, good luck with street parking... One thing I have found, they are on Postmates. This is an app where you pay people to pick up your food, ie. an uber for lazy foodies; of which I am an unapologetic member. I can't tell you how awesome it is to get Jetties delivered to your door and skip the headache of trying to find parking around there, especially on week nights. Weekends are fine, there are usually plenty of spots, especially Sunday afternoons/evenings. Their soups are really good; for the price, the best deal is the large. If you haven't, try the clam chowder. Disclaimer: I played football in college and subsidized my NCAA meal-slips by doing eating competitions, so your feelings about portion size will likely differ from mine. My standard order is: Nobadeer (on whole wheat) Surfside (on whole wheat) - the sourdough is good, I just love the wheat and sunflower seed crust Monomoy (w/ bacon added) - what? I like bacon... Large clam chowder 2-3 bags of Cape Cod Waffle cut chips (sometimes I get reduced fat BBQ to be ironic) I sometimes substitute the Nobadeer for the Cisco or Tom Nevers. In Bethesda they used to have a hot breakfast sandwich with eggs, bacon and Muenster on an everything bagel. If you find a location that offers it; try it. Jetties has recently rolled out 4 new hot sandwiches, I've tried all four, impressions are as follows: Cliff Road: Totally serviceable meatball sub; not an Italian deli, but infinitely better than Subway or Pottbelly. If I happened to have a major craving for a meatball sub, this is where I'd go. Still Dock: They use (it appears) a previously frozen, breaded chicken patty. The blue cheese, bacon and chipotle mayo are on point, but the McChicken brings it down. Baxter Road: Dear God, they've found another use for their turkey. Which is spectacular! Roasted in-house and carved to order. It's open faced, so fork and knife it is; very tasty. The Rotary: I'm somewhat indifferent about this one. It's a tasty sandwich for sure, but there are actual BBQ places all over DC. If i'm coming to Jetties, it is to get something I can't get a dozen other places. As far as the salads go, all are good, depending on your tastes. The ones with turkey give the most bang for your buck. Try the Muskeget with added avocado. The vinaigrettes are all good, but the peanut honey dressing stands alone; I'd probably drink that. The freshest salads. Always consistent. Service is fast and polite. You can get in and out in under 5 minutes. The salads are hearty and can be lunch and dinner. I've only had one or two of their sandwiches- both were good but all of the salad choices were excellent. Cash is not accepted for safety reasons, so bring a credit or debit card. read more

Pros: Friendly service / nice counter staff. Pretty, beachy mural along the wall. Good cranberry sauce. Cons: I was expecting their turkey to taste like fresh carved roasted turkey (like when you bake a whole turkey at home and carve it up), because that's what they portray it as on their website, but instead, its taste and texture was totally like a processed product that gets shaped into a butterball form that you would buy out of the Fijis catalogue. (You know what I mean?) (Suspicious texture) Their turkey was like what imitation crab chunks are to real crab. HORRIBLE service, HORRIBLE attitude, Unprofessional management. Yes, the food is not bad BUT, you have to wait over 15 minutes for your sandwich if you are first in line! The person who was making our two sandwiches looked like she did not know English. It took her forever to understand the ingredients on the receipt (not handwritten, it was all printed!) Management did not step in to help her out. If she was new - no other staff helped her. We wasted ALL our lunch time on waiting and after 20 minutes (!!!) we could still see her looking at the receipt. If it was a prank, it was a horrible one. As I sat inside waiting for my friend to arrive, your employee continued to stand behind the counter and GLARE at me, not saying a word. Very little cranberry so I ended up with mostly bread and stuffing( more bread). Furthermore my husband's description of the person making it as she put down her cleaning materials and put on some gloves didn't make it very appetizing even before biting into it. So I hadn't been to a Jetties in ages, but today decided to try the one in Chevy Chase. I knew they were a bit overpriced from years ago, but I was hungry and so I went in. I was rushing my decision because I didn't want to stand in line long, with someone behind me; I wanted to get in and out of the order line fast. I ordered two sandwiches, 2 bags of chips and 2 soda cans. The bill was almost $40. I was a bit taken aback by the cost, but it is NW DC and Jetties. So I was watching them make my sandwiches and I noticed one was pretty lackluster, so before they guy was finished wrapping it up, I asked them if they can add some condiments; lettuce, onion, tomatoes, pepper. The clerk told me it would be extra and I said that is fine, no problem. Then as they were putting the extra toppings on, I politely asked if they had mustard and hot sauce, you know like to go packets? So instead of being kind to me, the guy making the sandwich shook his head in disapproval and grumbled something under is breath. I was shocked how disrespectful and unprofessional he was, with me standing 15 feet away observing. I thanked them profusely and apologized for asking after it was already in "progress" to add condiments. So I was a bit taken aback by that, and thought that guy should be in the back room, away from public eye, making things in private if his attitude is so poor and lacking a polite customer service attitude. I was sort of upset but wasn't ready to write a bad review. Then when I was getting my sandwiches, the cashier lady told me next time to make please sure I have all my order up front. It wasn't said in a nice way, and it came off lacking politeness and passive aggressive. This really put a bad taste in my mouth. So on my way home I thought I will make it clear to this company, staff and management that they need to learn CUSTOMER SERVICE 101. The customer is "always right". I have been in customer service for 25 years and used to work in a Deli and sandwich shop. It doesn't matter if they ask you after the fact to put something on the sandwich, you happily oblige! Be thankful you have a job right now, making sandwiches, and treat your customers like GOLD, each and every one. Your business could be out of business right now, and you should be grateful to even have one customer, who's money keeps your business open, and providing your paychecks. I am paying $40 for 2 sandwiches, chips and water! You should be THANKFUL I shop at your place. If I buy one time and you treat me like trash, you get $40 once. But If you treat your customers like gold, I might come once a week for 5 years; you get $10,000. Now you get $40 only from me for life of your business, and maybe lose 100 customers who read this over next 10 years. You lose over $1,000,000 in revenues, due to treating ONE CUSTOMER poorly. Then business goes out of business. You must learn the importance of each customer... I can't emphasize that enough. Your staff need to be disciplined and retrained on how to treat customers who are in sight of you making food. I have been in customer service jobs and business ownership for over 25 years. If you treat your customers poorly you will be out of business in a flash. Learn the lessons of customer service and no matter what, always "Yes sir, Yes Ma'am, not a problem, with a big SMILE. Don't reprimand or be rude to your customers! Be good to your customers because they pay your bills and your paychecks. read more

I used to go to Maine every summer, so I'm a HUGE fan of lobster rolls! I had my first one at Jettie's today, and was disappointed. The lobster was basically tasteless, and I can only guess they used previously-frozen lobster. Fresh lobster tastes wonderful, so I don't know what happened. The roll was nice, the overall sandwich itself was nice, but for the lobster to be tasteless is just is a downer. My husband had the pork bbq and liked it, so that's good. I'd be willing to try other sandwiches on the menu, but not the lobster roll. The venue was very nice, as was the staff. read more

Both the sandwiches and salads are excellent. They are not cheap but honestly some of the sandwiches are so big it's justified. Located close to the Avalon Theatre, I have stopped by Jetties twice right before my movie started and to save time, twice ordered the Maryland Crab Soup. The first time it was bad but I thought that must have been a mistake. Nope, it was just as bad the second time. Salted to the extreme, not a piece of crab in sight, served in a flimsy paper cup, no soup spoon available and all that for an inflated six bucks. I was so pleased when Jetties moved in. Great outside. Cute inside. The menu looks great but, after several tries, I've decided to stick with Blue44 and Macons (during the summer) for lunch. The problem here is that the sandwiches and salads are expensive and not very good. The Smith Point (roast beef and havarti) I had was tasteless, save the red onions. A pink tomato, a slice of cheese too thin to be tasted, a sour cream and l a pile of roast beef. I'm not sure why the meat had no flavor but even when we pulled from the sandwich none of us could have, if blindfolded, identified what we were chewing. The horseradish (too little to taste and sour cream sauce was applied to the bread making it too soggy to hold together. (Maybe it had been thinned with milk? was low-fat? All I know is it wasn't worth finishing. Similar experience with the turkey sandwich but the turkey meat tastes processed. The salad I had at Jettie's sister shop in Georgetown was also too dull to finish. I want to buy local. I want to come back. But for $9 I think my sandwich should be memorable, or a least not regrettable. If you do come, bring a card. They don't accept cash, except in the tip jar. read more
