Jewel Osco - Need more Hard Mtn Dew!!!
Daniel M.

Just like the other Jewel Osco location I visited in Oak Park, the customer service is amazing and the locations are always so clean and organized. I really wish Jewel Osco was in California!

Pretty nice Jewel, friendly staff, fast self check out. It's interesting how every Jewel is SO different though. This one, the floral dept is so tiny and they don't carry the nice candles I love getting. Versus the other Jewels I have been to have a huge floral section and many candles. Anyways the wings are still consistent though! So that's a plus. Overall great store OH but this one does have a huge magazine section lol versus the other ones. Kinda funny. But cool.

Entrance to Jewel.

Manager was very helpful and knew the answer to every question I had. Not sure why this jewel has a low rating, I love it.

On July 27, 2024 I had the opportunity to shop your store. I was on my way home from Chicago, and…read moreneeded to stop at a grocery store and this was the most convenient as I live in the northern suburbs, and typically do not shop here. The store was very clean and well-stocked, I was very pleased with the selection of items for which I was shopping. When I checked out however, my pleasure changed to pure annoyance. The checker, Christopher, was less than stellar and quite frankly appeared to hate his job. I had a baguette from the bakery which was not marked (no one was around to help me so I bagged it myself). He called someone over who seamed to be a manager for a price check. I told him it was $2.79 to which he replied, he still needed it checked. So this person took my bread back to the bakery. While she was gone, he continued to ring up my order. As he was scanning, I discovered I forgot to put a duplicate item back. I asked him to please remove it, that I didn't need it. With an exaggerated gasp, he said he needed the manager. I apologized and said ok, I simply forgot to remove it. Then, another customer behind me started putting her groceries on the belt, and Christopher threw his hands up and pointed to the register next to him and said, "there's no one over there". The woman looked a little confused and continued to unload her groceries. At this point I was really annoyed and said, "perhaps you should find a job you actually enjoy". To which he replied, "just because I don't like my job doesn't mean I don't do it well." I think I said something like, I don't think you do it as well as you think you do. At this time the woman came back with my bread with a label on it and handed it to him. He sarcastically asked her for the key to void the item I didn't need and took that item off. I started bagging my own groceries so I could expedite my departure from your store. I'd like to mention, the person who went for the price check was then just standing there watching me bag my groceries (her ID on the receipt is #112). As I was paying, I looked at Christopher and leaned a little to the left so I could see his name tag. He actually turned away from me so I couldn't see it! (I found his name on my receipt.) What a miserable and sad employee. I realize this may not be a life career for him, but he is an extremely poor representative of this store.

Even though I wasn't there to do a full shopping trip, everything I saw was clean, well organized, and well maintained. The aisles looked stocked, and the store had a nice layout that made it easy to get around. The visit was quick, but it left a great first impression. I'll definitely have to come back sometime to do more shopping. Based on what I saw, this seems like a well-run store that's worth visiting.

The first time we ordered from here was through the website and we drove up to pickup the food. First, the app... perfect. Need gluten free food filtered? Yep! Need low carbs and zero sugar filtered? Yep! Did you decide to go into the store instead and need to turn it into a shopping list telling you which aisle and section it is located in? Yep! Honestly, it is fantastic. Next, it is employee owned. Everyone inside seems to care about making you a happy customer because they own a stake in it. Lastly, this place is massive! I can't rally explain to you how massive. It is 242,000 square feet of groceries. For scale, that is 15 commercial Boeing 737 jetliners inside or 395 full sized semi trucks or the entire New York City Central Park Zoo! It has every food you could imagine with every gluten free, keto, and zero sugar option my family craves. Want that Mountain Dew Voltage raspberry soda you thought was long gone? Yep! Want those Keto ice cream bars that taste better than standard ice creams? Yep! You got a customer for life. Well done!

I know my daughter likes to visit there with friends for a bite of sushi, a cold drink from the cooler, or even a slice of tiramisu. They got a star back from my mental 3 star review because they brought their happy hour menu back! From 4p-7p Monday through Thursday, they run specials like $3 tacos (Tuesdays) or $8 burritos (Thursdays). They had some summer happy hour menu and it just did not appeal to me so I am glad they brought the original one back, albeit with slightly higher prices than before. I was able to pick up my daughter from drum lessons then pick up steak tacos to eat before we cut into our Rosca de Reyes. Their bakery is also a good stop before a gathering, although it can be hard to get an employee's attention in that department. I have gotten cannolis, brownies, cookies, etc. and everything has been eaten with positive reviews. I get whatever is on sale so it has "forced" me to try different items! Also, the focaccia bread is welcome into the rotation of dinner sides. Overall, I find the staff to be friendly enough and quick to jump to make sure the checkout line keeps moving. I am glad this store is there for when we need them!

They have a Bar Angelo where you can buy beer and cocktails, though it should be noted that it's not a full bar.  They also serve burgers, pizzas, sandwiches, and an assortment of appetizers.  There's a nice shaded patio right outside the cafe as well as some indoor seating.  I don't know if this bar/cafe setup is a common feature or not of Angelo Caputo's Fresh Markets, but I could see it working well especially for the very close-by apartment dwellers.  Anyway, a thumbs-up impression from our first visit.

Were these cookies made by Frankenstein's Monster? 1). Manufacturer knows nothing about making "sandwich" cookies: bottoms should BOTH face towards filling, so cookie looks beautiful no matter how it is held! 2) Filling: like dried rubber cement, sticky/overly sweet. Try using real raspberry jam. When I attempted to pull a cookie apart to scrape off the filling, the cookie exploded. 3) Looks like Flying Monkeys assembled these cookies. 4) All cookies in box were deformed and/or broken. My ONLY complaint is that the checkout lines are FAR too long, due to what I feel is "forced" by company policy on the checker staff. The checkers are FAR too "chatty" with every single customer, when most of us simply want to get in and out. Great cart policy with regard to return and retrieval.
