Terrible service. Want to spend 10-15 minutes in line because they only have one register staffed (usually not the express one) and try funneling all traffic through the self check out, if so this is the place for you. If you complain to a manager they'll say "I understand" but never fix the issue as it occurs over and over. There are other places like Vali, Target, Walmart and Aldo's all near by looking for my cash and time. read more

I give them 2 stars solely on location, as it's literally a mile from my home. But this store has the worst customer service I have ever come across in a Jewel. If you ask an employee where something is, you're lucky if you get an answer, I've been told "I don't know several times" or "That's not my area" Employees block already small aisles with stock carts and boxes, and ignore you when you say excuse me. They walk in front of you like you're not there, I was nearly pushed over by a manager desperate to pass me with a cart of product. Mariano's is worth the drive. read more

This Jewel is too small to handle the demand since other local grocery stores have closed. The last few times I've been there, the meat section has been under stocked and no one is around to check if there is more in the back. Cashiers are nice but I'd rather go to Aldi's for the basics and Mariano's for everything else. read more

I was in the store yesterday and went over by the deli to get some Hawaiian hamburger buns. I didn't buy them because they were two weeks past the expiration date. I'll keep shopping at the store because of its location but it's not a pleasant experience lately. I never see anyone working at the store smiling, they are crabby and unhappy. read more

I really want to give 0 stars but of course it's not an option. This store is absolutely ridiculous. I come very early in the morning about 645 7. Only one line is usually open and there's no more set checkout... at least 15 min is spent in line because agin there is only one worker. Today was the icing on the cake. 2 products that I bought were expired. However they were both at the front of the racks so I didn't feel a need to check the date. My attitude will definitely be changed now. It's upsetting because you're supposed to be able trust your local but now you guys are selling expired products. Absolutely ridiculous. And to top it off of course the manager is not in today. That's ok. Corporate will be called. read more

Extremely disappointed in the lack of measures being taken to keep employees and customers safe during this pandemic. No one is wiping carts down, and I have yet to see employees go above and beyond to clean the counters, change gloves, etc extra in between customers. Please take a trip to the Trader Joe's in Golf and see how they are executing safe practices, including extra staff to manage lines outside ensuring only a certain number of customers are in the building at once, another extra staff member disinfecting every single cart (not just the handle... the whole thing) every time a customer leaves so the new customer has a fresh cart to shop with. Plus, extra staff going from checkout lane to checkout lane spraying/wiping counters after every customer finishes. I know this is not store specific, so I am disappointed Jewel-Osco as a whole. I do not feel safe shopping here. I will not be returning because of this. read more

Although usually I never have any problems here I can honestly say today was different. I ran in to grab a few things and was just going on my merry way when I decided to stop by the deli. Mistake. As I was waiting my line to get some tator babies and chicken there seemed to be a contractor or worker of some sort who was came in to fix their rotisserie chicken machine. AWKWARD. All the workers seemed annoyed he was in their way and doing a big job on a busy friday. I can understand the frustration. However, the unprofessionalism in how it was handled was poor and embarrassing! To begin a manager came over and the two men were arguing. Literally less than 5 ft away from customers. Being loud and rather childish. The chicken was delicious but I think there requires professionalism in a place of business and you should not make your customers feel awkward. read more

shopped at this jewel, others not obeying 6 feet guidelines, clerks when they speak they talk near your face, where i had to flee avoid, store crowded outside of CDC guidelines, lots of employees closer then the 6 feet like not paying attention, store layed out bad, looks dirty, store small average person 1-2 feet from each other. read more

The old lady in the chicken wings section is grumpy all the time. When you tell her something or ask her questions she answers back with a mad tone. 1st day I experienced this and I thought she was just having a bad day. Came back and the same experience I had with this old lady. I don't know why management allow this kind of people to work in their business. I shop the Valli's across the street, seldom shop Dominick's since the Golf and Barrington store closed, find the prepared meals at Mariano's attractive, and buy from Sam's what I find to provide a savings. I purposely go to Jewel to purchase specific products. This is the Jewel I generally shop in and my comments apply equally to the other Jewels I stop into when they are on my path ~ Barrington, Schaumburg (both Roselle Rd and Barrington Rd), Arlington Heights (Golf Rd), Antioch and Fox Lake (59). Jewel is the only store I know that carries St. Dalfour 100% Fruit Spread (from France), sweeten only with juice concentrate (i.e. Black Cherry sweetened with concentrated grape juice), no sugar or preservatives or artificial ingredients. I don't want Ultra-Pasteurized dairy and Jewel carries the elusive standard pasteurized Dean's Heavy Whipping Cream in both the quart and 1/2 pint sizes. I find I prefer Jewel's deli sandwich meat over the lower cost but same brands at other markets ~ fresher maybe. They carry a large selection of teas ~ including organic and free trade. The bakery has an excellent selection of bakery breads ~ international breads, french warm from the oven, garlic loafs and rosemary rounds, and crisp crusted onion rolls. Their strawberry whipped cream torte is a favorite dessert. I always check for and frequently find generously marked down items. The staff has always been been friendly and promptly responsive. And ~ should there be a mistake at the register, the item is given to the customer without charge !!! I think Jewel knows how to appreciate our business and strives to keep us coming back ~ it works for me. This store is an original... opened in the early 70's, perhaps earlier, so it is smaller and not as equipped as others. However, this is my neighborhood Jewel, it is good, and I've only had to go to another Jewel for Cascade Yogurt ~ another elusive item I've not found in other markets. read more

I went here last week. I went into the produce department and picked up a yogurt parfait. On the top of the container it said to ask for calorie information. I noticed the produce manager a few feet away, so I asked him about it. He flipped it over and said "it's on the back." I said thank you and he ignored me. He made me feel like I was stupid. I know I should have looked on the back, but it said to ask for info. I work retail and I would never treat a customer that way, and I'm not in management. The guy didn't even say thank you. I saw him a few days ago and he gave me a dirty look. I've had issues with other employees in the produce department. I've even been made fun of by one of them. All I was doing was grabbing a bag of grapes. 6 months later, I still have no idea what I did. read more

First time here and I frequent jewel all the time. Honestly this is the worst I've ever been in. We went to the deli counter only to have a rude lady tell my daughter if you want chicken you have to wait over there and pointed to a corner. Nicely my daughter said no, I'd like ham. She then had an annoyed look and took her time packaging some taco salads that she slowly put in the fridge all while proceeding to tell another customer patience, and asked his wife if the man knew what patience is. When she finally came to my daughter she asked what she wanted and looked for it thru different unwrapped pieces of ham. She had no clue what any of them were! Every time she put a piece of meat to the side my stomach turned with what it looked like. As I made an excuse on why we didn't want anything anymore we walked out of a dirty disorganized messy store. Not sure why lettuce was on the floor nor the reason why corn husks were literally everywhere. I'll stick to my normal clean jewel thank you very much and the people who are polite. read more

Very sad when the only lane that is open is a self-checkout Lane and then the person working that area has to help each customer with their transaction anyway. Why not just open a lane? I I refuse to check myself out because it never seems to go smoothly. I left my cart full of groceries and as I'm walking out I see a person standing near the exit reading a newspaper standing at the rack. It is almost 8 a.m. not the middle of the night where you have limited employees. read more

What a joke. We waited in line behind a jewel employee who was being rang up by a very slow cashier. They talked and looked for extra coupons the entire time. We stood there with three items while the two employees chatted and the third employee (the bagger) stared into space. No one acknowledged us or apologized for the delay. Jewel never had enough checkers and is very mismanaged. That's the key right there, there wasn't even a manager or anyone working at the customer service desk. I will continue to shop at Mariano's which offers much better service, better selection and an overall better shopping experience. Jewel should feel embarrassed how their competition is quickly shutting them out. read more

Love the layout, usual Jewel grocery store. Produce has gotten better. Seems to last longer. Very friendly, overtalkative employees. Sometimes unprofessional managers. Saw an employee get scolded in the open for his attire. I just feel this should be handled quietly and not in front of the customers. I used to shop this Jewel when it was first located on Irving Park in Roselle. I was a loyal customer for years at this location, but due to lack of customer service & some unexectedly high prices I left Jewel & went to Marianos. Over the past few weeks I got lured into shopping at Jewel again but the rude customer service experience today reminded me of why I left. It feels as if customers are not valued and not trusted. Plus, I wanted to personally write to the store manager instead of posting on Yelp, but there is no direct link to this Jewel without going through a third party. I feel as if the Jewel/Osco chain doesn't really care about the customer experience. Often I have had to first find a customer service representative who then feels peeved that she has to answer my question. This Schaumburg store really needs to improve on the attitude of their customer service department. A customer should leave the store feeling satisfied or at least neutral, not frustrated, angry & upset because customer service wouldn't allow the use of 4 identical coupons for 4 product purchases. And what happened to your efficient self-checkout? Another example of how customers are not valued/trusted. read more

Today, I stopped just to get some coffee beans. First their isles are so long that they have different signs at both ends and, if you do not have super vision, you miss half the store. Asked assistant manager where and how would I know, which is when he took me to isle and I pointed to sign and said how would i know since I am only sign reader not mind reader. I asked why there was not board or something that we could look at. He said they have sheets showing the isles. I asked where and he said well he knew there were some at service desk. We walked there and none to be seen and 4-5 people in line so he went around and asked - so nice that they kept them in drawer behind service desk. When I finally got to coffee, whole beans and ground were all mixed together and even brands were not necessarily in some type of order. After 15-20 minutes of this craziness, I left without any coffee and won't be going back unless dire emergency!! read more
