Everyone knows how hot it has been and I had just got out the gym. I especially went to see if they had 2 things. The grilled chicken and the promotion for Gatorade water. I picked up some bananas while waiting for grilled chicken. They seriously need more help in the deli because after waiting 20 minutes I still ended up leaving without the chicken because the line was moving so slow. I will say kudos for the good supply of promotion water. I'll return as always. read more

Bakery! I loved my service with this Bakery over and over I have used this same bakery for the past 5 years for my children's birthdays, parties, and different occasions. The employees are very friendly, patient, and do their best to meet your needs. The whole Bakery staff works very hard and are good at their craft! My cakes that I purchase here are always so beautifully decorated and most times aren't believed to have been purchased at a local grocery store. Shout out to Symphony decorating the cakes and to the whole staff whom names I didn't catch who are also doing a wonderful job as well. I went to this Jewel yesterday and stood at the deli counter for 20 minutes while employees saw me and continued to walk around behind the counter. One particularly rude employee who was waiting on a gentleman getting chicken walked up to the counter right in front of me and my granddaughter and just rudely stared at me. It was awkward and when I asked if he was helping me me he screamed at me that he was busy doing something. I immediately left and will not return to that store. I explained to my granddaughter in the car as we were leaving that you should never spend your money at a store where the employees are rude to you. read more

I stopped by Jewel on 183rd in Homewood, Illinois, a couple of days ago. I was glad to see they were still open, especially after hearing rumors of store closing. The store is open and fully operational. While nothing has changed but the days and its employees, the selves remain stocked depending on the day of visits. On this particular day, I was looking for an item that I remember being on sale at one the other jewel. The products department was clean, organized, and spacious. This Jewel Osco location is absolutely terrible. I've shopped here for years, but I've gradually transitioned from shopping here to the store in Oak Forest. The customer service at this store is the worst. The workers are young, loud, obnoxious, and they play around too much. They are too busy gossiping and are unhelpful! The condition of the store is terrible. They are currently doing renovations, but even before then the store was nasty, food crumbs underneath the shelves, and mice! Yes, I have experienced a mouse running across my feet! I was mortified! Watch out for the expiration dates because they sale expired products at a sales price! They don't sale many products that are offered at other jewel locations, such as gluten free products, Kombuchas, and organics dairy products. My recommendation for this store is to clean up the building and hire more professional workers instead of kids. read more

I work close to this Jewel and often went there after work. I won't be going there or anywhere in that area anymore since it is unsafe. My wallet was stolen at this Jewel and used across the street at a liquor store to purchase over $500 of items. Big thumbs down. It was my first time in the store. I visited a friend who live in this neighborhood and we went grocery shopping in here. The store is clean, it got a nice organized and well stocked selections. It is not good as the usual Jewel in my place but it was all in all a nice grocery store. Produce is fresh and has a variety of selections as well as the other selections. Prices are fair and reasonable but I rarely saw products that are on sale. It was not crowded and we were able to checkout pretty fast. Staff are also friendly. read more

183rd and kedzie: Some of the workers in the deli must be court ordered to work as they are hostile and seem bothered by customers who ask for items behind the counter. (You know who you are) To be fair I have had good customer service from other store employees but those deli people are the worse. Management: Why not do secret shoppers so you can weed out those unpleasant people? I rather drive further from home and go to Jewel-Osco on halsted in Homewood where the employees are helpful, have great attitudes and the store is customer friendly. read more

I purchased some ribs from the meat department, some that were in the glass. I had asked them to cut it in half for me so I can fit it on my grill. the meat did not smell bad and I cooked it thoroughly at a high temp. We still ended up getting severe food poisoning. We woke up in the middle of the night with vomiting and "other" bodily issues and severe tummy cramping. I was also dizzy and queasy. That will be the last time I get something from the meat department. The store itself is one of the lesser annoying grocery stores but I ma still put off by the meat experience and don't want to trust them again read more

I have been shopping at this store for over 25 years and usually have no problems. Recently though my wife purchased a bucket of hot wings on sale at the deli, after taking one bite I noticed a burnt electrical taste and smell. She returned them for a refund and notified the staff. On New Years eve we decided to try the hot wing again hoping the burnt electrical taste\smell issue had been fixed, sad to say it hasn't. We will not be buying this product again! I hope management sees this and check\clean\fix the fryer to rectify the problem. read more

Very disappointed in the customer service skills today at the self checkout. I was having problems ringing up three items and asked for assistance from a lady who's suppose to be assisting customers through self checkout. When asked for assistance her first response was "I thought I told you to press the green button". Mind you when I finished ringing up my items, I already pressed the green button. Also, if she was talking to me about pressing the green button, she was no where near me. Her approach to assisting customers with ringing up items was not customer service friendly or professional at all. I was disappointed upon leaving Jewels and also called the manager to complain about her unprofessional approach to assisting customers who are spending money at their store especially during these tough times. read more

On more than one occasion I have made purchases from the fish department at the 18rd and Kedzie Homewood location. There has never been a smile, greeting or thank you from the people who work behind the counter. Quite the contrary I was tempted to apologize to the employee for the bother. I suggest that management weed out the rude and impolite employees and hire either retired folks and only people who really want the job. I wanted to rate this store 0 stars. I have noticed the smell from the meat department, especially where the seafood is located. I will not return to this store again. This is the second time, I know I went back, only because it's the only store that really near my home. But anyway, as I walked toward the seafood section, it smelled very, very fishy. Now I have purchased seafood from this location before and was not pleased with the quality of the seafood. It's old and you can smell it. Yesterday, I wanted salmon. The ghetto Wal-mart in CCH doesn't have fresh seafood, just frozen. I'd purchased just one piece of salmon, took it home to marinate and season it, but as I opened the package, the salmon had a slimy feel to it and it smelled very fishy. No it was not fresh. This store has expired food and selling it to customers. With the prices, they should be ashamed. I will have to find me a new grocery store or go to a different location in a neighborhood that I KNOW the food will be fresh. read more
