Eyebrows waxing. Terrible. The woman removed most of my eyebrows. I specified that I wanted thick eyebrows. Now, bald spots. I have had my nails done there twice before, and they were lumpy. Even though they were Gel nails. My best friend went with me the last time, and they tried to push other services on her and then pushed her to pay before she was ready to leave. She burned the side of my finger, cut my cuticle on my thumb, didn't even paint the entire nail on every finger, PUT ONE NAIL ON CROOKED, & then over charged me! Worst experience I've ever had a nail salon. Then had the nerve to have an attitude when I asked what I was being charged for & threw my change down. Worst service I have ever experienced. Walked in and asked for a pedicure. I was told to pick a color and take a seat, and that the water would be turned on. Sat in a pedicure chair next to another customer who was also told to sit down and wait for water. She'd been waiting 30 minutes, it had been about 15 minutes for me. A third customer walks in and requests service. She's also told to pick a color and take a seat. That customer questioned the wait time and she was told there was nobody in front of her, meanwhile we're waiting. The third customer takes a seat and after 15 mins of no i she walks out. When me and the first customer, both followed up on our service, the what appears to be a condensing owner, responded up north of us extremely irritated and said she had no idea how much longer we would both be waiting and that if we did not like it that we could leave. Mind you, our shoes are off and we're just waiting for pedicure water. We both told her that was extremely rude and she ignored us. A fifth customer walks in and with no appointment, they began assisting her immediately. Of course we immediately questioned the service and the owner again was rude and said that she tried to tell her employee to assist us first but that clearly they do not respect her, probably because she doesn't respect others. We were upset, the owner then became upset, cussed us out and told us that if we didn't like it we could leave. Second worst problem with this place is that we watched a customer get a pedicure, finish and leave. The staff Immediately put another cover on the chair and started needing pedicure water. No disinfectant at all. The customer asked they clean the tub with Clorox and they proceeded to spray the tub with the rubbing alcohol they use to wipe nails. Worst customer Service, worst vibe, very dusted place of business, you can tell they do not clean. No HVAC so prepare to sweat your entire visit. Oh, and they cannot tell you how long your wait will be, but she will lie and tell you to take a sit. No customer service, no compliance with hygiene and sanitary requirements. I really don't enjoy making negative comments/reviews so when i do you know it's bad service. I DO NOT recommend this salon in the least. I went in for a fill and hardly received that. To start she didn't even file down or do anything to the acrylic that was already on there so that the new acrylic would go on correctly. Then I had to ask her to fill in nails after she had applied the new acrylic bc they didn't even look like she had done anything to them!! So already feeling uneasy and unhappy from the start I see what my nails look like after she paints them and I cannot even believe my eyes... she didn't even remove all of the black polish I had come in with!!!! I don't understand how this is your line of expertise that you make a LIVING FROM and you be okay with the work you just did!?? Mind blown I assumed she was going to atleast remove it afterwards but didn't. By this point I've already been here so long(somehow, considering she didn't even do half the correct steps) I don't even feel like arguing ab paying for this shit job. I figure you live and you learn. THEY WILL NEVER HAVE MY BUSINESS AGAIN, and most likely won't have many others with this type of service.... rant over, just trying to prevent this from happening to someone else. The technician burned me with the drill 3 times. I gave her a color to put on my nails. She decided to put clear gel over white tips that were done weeks ago at another salon. So the bill was 25$ NOT the 17$ I was expecting. There was absolutely nothing remarkable about this salon. The technician sucked. I can't stand it when they try to charge more because it's your first time and they think they can get away with it. IMHO that's stealing. I've been self-employed my entire life. I have been coming to this nail salon for years and have never found anywhere else that quite compares. I will be honest you will have to wait at least 20 minutes almost every time you come but it is worth it. The owner works in the salon and is the best there is. They have a large color selection and are willing to do just about anything you come to them with. I refuse to get my nails done anywhere else. read more

This morning I dropped into JFK Nails, located at 3418 JFK Blvd. I was not super excited about how worn the armrest looked, but went ahead and had a seat. The technician laid down a towel, but not over the armrest, as I had hopped. As she reached for the drill, I stopped her because it looked dirty, with residue of nail dust. I asked if I could have a new drill bit or if it had been sanitized. I have only had my nails done a few times, so I am not familiar with the proper sanitation process. I just knew I was concerned about the use of a tool that looked to have another persons body material on it. I am not sure that she understood me, but she spoke with the other lady, who I believe was the owner and then pulled out a nail file. However, the nail file was obviously used. I was trying to be plesant, yet still convey that I wanted a clean instrument used. My technician became frustrated, but pulled out a new file from a package. The next step was to take out the cuticle cutter. She pulled it out from the drawer and it just didn't look clean. So, I asked if it had been sanitized. She did not respond to me, but pulled out a bottle of hand sanitizer and squeezed it onto the cuticle cutter instrument. When she picked it up to use it she did not open the cutter to make sure the sanitizer got on the inside blades and she did not use a cloth or anything to wipe the instrument. I hated to be annoying, but for my own safety I felt I had to say something. I said, "doesn't the inside and around the blades need to be clean." She then was very frustrated and started talking with the other lady, who then told me if I wanted to buy my own instruments and bring them in I could. I told her I am not a regular nail client and am just unfamiliar with the sanitation process and as such I was asking questions simply to understand. She told me she only had to answer to the health department and not me and asked if I was with the health department. I told her no, that I was just a client, but that I was not any longer and that she did not have to answer any questions I have and that I would direct them to the health department. I was shocked at how upset she became, rather than simply explaining the sanitation process they used. From the beginning I tried to use a very kind demeanor because I understand people don't like to be questioned and I did not want to seem accusatory, but rather just inquiring. Sadly, my questions were not received with the standard of care I expected. We must hold our service providers to a higher standard in order to not only protect our safety, but to ensure the quality of our neighborhood. A highly valued neighborhood has highly valued services that provide high quality. JFK Nails did not do that. read more

I wouldn't come back. Nobody was "rude" per say, but service really stunk. I had gel nails done and they are a bit sloppy. Two have lumps on them and about five of them have rough edges sticking out that catch really bad, any time I use my fingers to touch my hair . read more

She said "don't move" they charged an incredibly expensive price that was not listed. I feel like I was taken advantage of and I will never go back. We love this place when the regular group is working. Sat with feet in water for over an hour (was there 1 hr 15 min) and nothing. The guy in there cannot do nails. He did a dip on my nails and did a horrible job and the customer he did before me was complaining about her nails as well. Also, they speak a different language and speak it the entire time. Then they burst into laughter an they are all looking at the same person. If I could leave no stars, I would. This is the WORST nail shop in NLR. I walked in the shop and they continuously tried to make me get a pedicure when I said gel manicure 3 times. Then told me the gel manicure was $15 and charged me $30 for it. I also had my baby with me & the women of the shop were talking extremely too much & VERY loudly. One of the women had no regard for my sleeping baby when she screamed laughing right beside my baby's car seat. She was extremely rude after that. They have absolutely NO customer service or courtesy... Not to mention it took a whole hour for her to do my gel manicure. Smh. Don't waste your money here. read more

Just don't go here!!!! Omg they talked in a different language and laughed the whole time. Very uncomfortable. The guy asked if I wanted shellac and I didn't want it. He kept asking me and telling me how great it is. I seriously doubted his would turn out any good but I gave in and said ok. As soon as I did he laughed turned said something and laughed again.
