We called JGB Restoration looking for recommendations for someone who could replace our floors, new casing and baseboard, and paint. They said they could take care of it all! They were in and out within 6 days on our whole house! Day 1 tore out all existing floors and base/casing and laid flooring in living room Day 2 finished laying floors Day 3 baseboards and casing Day 4 caulking baseboard and drywall texture match (we put in lower baseboards so it left a line where the caulking pulled the drywall) Day 5 painting casings/baseboard Day 6 painting drywall patches. Reinstalling toilets and vanity Everything looked so good, was so quick and we were so happy with the attention to detail provided. I would not recommend JGB based on my experience. JGB was retained to perform remediation and restoration work at my mother's home following a water intrusion and mold event. Unfortunately, the project was never completed. Communication throughout the project was inconsistent, workers frequently failed to show up without notice, and there were extended periods where no work was performed. The project stretched over several months and then work stopped altogether before the restoration was completed. Ultimately, JGB left numerous items unfinished, including hardwood flooring that was never restored, exposed electrical components, damaged crown molding, damaged recessed lighting, and a water-damaged crawl-space access door. Required post-remediation work, including HVAC-related recommendations identified in the environmental consultant's report, also remained unresolved. In my experience, portions of the work that was performed also did not follow the remediation recommendations outlined in the environmental consultant's report, requiring additional evaluation by independent contractors. As a result, I spent months coordinating with the property management company, documenting the condition of the home, obtaining independent contractor estimates, and arranging for other professionals to evaluate and complete the unfinished work. What was most disappointing was the lack of communication, accountability, and follow-through. Despite repeated requests to return and complete the project, the work remained unfinished. Every construction project can encounter unexpected issues, but I believe a company's professionalism is measured by how it responds when those issues arise. In my experience, JGB did not follow through on completing the project or addressing the outstanding issues. If you're considering hiring JGB, I strongly recommend getting a detailed written scope of work, documenting the project with photographs from start to finish, and keeping all communication in writing. If I could give zero stars, I would. My HOA hired JGB to repair damage in my home caused by another company they contracted . From start to finish, the experience has been frustrating and unprofessional. JGB has terrible communication. I had to constantly call just to get updates or to try to schedule repairs. More often than not, I was told "someone will call you back" or asked about my availability, yet no follow-through ever happened unless I initiated it. The contractors who did show up only completed part of the work, left a mess behind, and told me they would return to finish, clean up, and reinstall my hardware. They never came back. For nearly three weeks, I repeatedly called the office, only to be brushed off with empty promises. No one ever showed up, or called me back, and my home remains unfinished. I now have to hire another company to rehang my chandeliers ( I have very high ceilings ) and I have to clean up the mess they left. I have worked with contractors in the past, and a supervisor always came out to inspect the job, make sure everything was clean, and ask if I was satisfied with the results . JGB never sent a supervisor to inspect the work their contractors performed. I strongly recommend not hiring JGB. They waste your time, fail to follow through, and leave you with more problems than you started with. read more

I called jgb after finding mold inside my bedroom, they were able to schedule me for the next day and they showed up on time and they showed me all the areas that were wet and what they would need to cut. They moved my bed and dresser and set up a plastic wall that kept all the dust inside only the area where work was being done and set up ram board to protect my flooring. They worked quickly got the mold removed and kept everything clean in the process after cutting they set up equipment to help dry the walls and let me know the equipment had to run for three days and someone would be by to make sure the walls were no longer wet and there was no more mold and that's exactly what happened Gavin came and checked that everything was clean and dry and after confirming it was he packed up all the equipment and scheduled they're contractor to come and reinstall what was removed and once that was done it looked as if it never happened, thank you to all the workers at jgb they were professional, on time, informative, and just all around helpful, If I ever have an issue like this again jgb will be the only company I call and I strongly advise you to do the same! read more

We were referred to JGB by our insurance company due to some mold concerns in one of our bedrooms. JGB sent out a representative to investigate the damage and build a report for a proposal. When the rep came to our home all she did was take a bunch of photographs of the moldy area and write some notes. She did not bring a moisture meter or any other testing kits to determine the root cause of the mold or even what type it was. Nor did she communicate much on the issue as she seemed unknowledgable in this area. A couple of days later we received a project proposal for work for $3000 to tear out the walls and replace everything. We continued to get 3 more quotes from local companies who all came out with the proper tools and knowledge to tell us that we just had surface mold due to high humidity in that area of the room. There was no black mold or recommendations to tear out walls and scam us for work that did not need to be done. We were not charged a dime from the other companies and they even gave us advice on what products to use to clean it ourselves and prevent this from coming back. We feel JGB was trying to take advantage of us due to the initial contact with our insurance company. I would not recommend this company to anyone and encourgage mulitple quotes for an accurate mold assessment before making any decisions with any company. read more

JGB didn't excellent job to complete the water mitigation and I completed a 5 star review on google for that part of the job. I had high hopes that the experience for the entire process was going to be excellent. This review is for the rebuild process only. Unfortunately after the water mitigation was completed 3 weeks ago, the process of the rebuild has not begun. The communication was so poor. I was told that they were waiting for my insurance to approve and for payment to be received. I advised my insurance adjuster of that and we attempted twice to do a conference call but was told by Lindsey that Chris the owner is only available for 1hour in the morning to take the call and there was no way for her to get a hold of him. That doesn't give me high hopes that the two are able connect if there is only one hour time frame for them to talk. Still no begin date or call back. When I had called to also follow up and to speak with Chris, I was told by Lindsey that they also have other customers. She was rude and pretty much gave me the impression that I was not important. I understand people are busy but it's their job to communicate with their customers and to not leave them in the dark. The handle on my screen door was broken by accident. But when they attempted to repair the handle they did a poor job and left holes in the door where bugs could get in. The entire screen door needs to be replaced now. I'm still waiting for them to let me know if they will replace the door. There communication in the rebuild department needs improvement. I had to change contractors to complete the rebuild process so I can go home asap. I have been out of my home since Labor Day weekend. read more

Incompetent, unprofessional, unorganized. Didn't show to an appointment for 3 days. No internal communication between each other and no external communication with the customer. Absolutely zero customer skills. Do not hire. I had a roof leak and my HOA company hired them to come place a temporary tarp to prevent more water going into my house. Gavin and Jose who came said it was impossible to do anything so they left me with an open roof leak and pouring rain going into the walls and structure of the house for 4 days. Ceiling and walls were soaking wet. Later it turned out that other houses in my community also had leaks and other vendors figured out how to do plastic cover. JGB was either incompetent or too lazy to get up on the roof. They were supposed to come for a follow up appointment to check on dehumidifiers and water levels a week later. Appointment is on Wednesday at 10 am, no show all day. Nothing the next day either. I called the office 4 different times and spoke with different people, asking for status. Finally on Friday afternoon someone is calling me like nothing happened, no acknowledgement or apology. I told my HOA that they absolutely can not be the vendor working on my roof. Wasted a lot of time and energy and a whole week of waiting for nothing. With rain water coming in. No thanks. read more

So here's the story. We had a very bad fire in our home in January 2020. Our insurance company recommended JGB for our repairs. We were initially told by JGB that it would be 5-6 months for the job to be done. We were out of our home for over a year; we went from a Residence Inn, to The Cape for 6 months, then back to Residence Inn for another 6 months. At that point, we just wanted to be home so badly, we agreed to move home; even with no oven, or stove, or microwave or shutters. (It took several months before those things were installed. Almost five months, I believe.) The pictures attached show the work that was done in our home. We were asked to live at home for a few weeks and then make a 'punch list' of things that needed to be fixed. We gave a punch list to JGB in February of 2021. (With the exception of the collapsed closet shelf/bar, and the air conditioning pipe that was left to drain under our bathroom sink), they have yet to come back & fix these things. [Regarding the a/c pipe that was draining under the sink, we didn't realise there was water dripping into the cabinet for a couple of weeks. We could smell old water, and finally HEARD the dripping sound on a Friday night. We called JGB, and were told we'd have to wait until 'next week' for 'someone' to come and fix it. By that time the entire bathroom cabinet was soaking wet and took weeks to completely dry out. The smell finally went away.] *The condition of our home was so dirty when we moved back in, our white socks were black on the bottom. Every window was filthy, & the stickers were a mess to remove. Plaster was everywhere. Our bedroom doors are no longer the solid core doors we had. There's no soundproof anything in our home. None of our interior walls have insulation, so our home isn't quiet anymore like it was before. The windows aren't good quality like what we had before, so we hear every car muffler, motorcycle, etc. that goes by, and we never heard that before; we now hear that in every room. All of the wiring for our telephone landlines was ripped out and not replaced. That was a nightmare for us to get resolved. We now have one landline, (for our internet) in one bedroom. The wiring for our doorbells outside our front door and front gate was removed. We had to argue back and forth to get that resolved. (The best option was to install RING doorbells. They are not hard wired.) We were asked to sign our final payment over to JGB. I didn't think we should because the job wasn't and still isn't finished. They were paid in full 9 months ago. Do not hire these people under any circumstances. They did (well, they're currently STILL DOING) water damage remediation work on my house and in the beginning, I was assured that JGB Restoration would see the project through and they were very friendly and communication was good.. BUT, once they started the job, and got my signature on the contract, the nightmare began. Their office is extremely disorganized, every time they send someone out to do the actual work, it's a different person - and while it's understandable to have many employees, the thing that is truly baffling to me is how incomplete their notes are. Every time someone was on-site to do work, they were confused or misinformed about what they were supposed to be doing that day. It has been infuriating how hard it is to get answers from anyone about my house. Every step of the way, I have had to contact their office multiple times in order to get any information. Not to mention the fact that twice (not once - twice), I was not told ahead of time that workers would be coming. Which, obviously caused further delays because people showed up to my house when I was at work, not at home, because I was not given advance notice that they'd be there, and they'd have to "reschedule". The work is still in progress at my house after MONTHS and I am at my wit's end just trying to get back to normal. I have had such an excruciatingly negative experience with this company. I wish I have better things to say about this firm but I simply don't. I'll save you my sob story, let me give you just pure facts and you can determine this company for yourself. 1. JGB works with insurance firms, they coordinate with agents who recommend them and "benefits" are being provided after a referral has used them and completes the job. No reputable firm needs to provide "benefits" to any agents, they sell themselves. 2. If you would like to know the cost of your restoration as a homeowner, they will refuse to share any of it but go through your insurance. Why? Good question, ask them and you'll get the runaround. 3. The contract they want you to sign will have NO numbers indicating what they will charge. The charge on a whim as they go and through communications with selective insurance firms, they figure out what the max they can "milk the firm on". 4. After our insurance claims agent shares the cost JGB is charging, the cost is completely over the top to include overtime while in reality, non of it ever occurred. The insurance had to deduct 20% of the amount they claimed originally. 5. They will leave you dry if they don't get what they want. After 1 month in their work with us, they have yet to finish the job. On the part they have worked on, the flooring was still inadequate for installs. No further update on how or who will finish the job. 6. You better have a LOT of premium covered for your policy or your nightmare will begin. If you do, you won't hear any of it but if you don't good luck getting JGB's attention. Chris personally say that he NEVER talks to any of his customers and we had to jump through hoops just to get the man on the phone, well that's definitely not the great customer experience everyone is raving here in our experience. On the unfinished $8000 work, we were able to get premium material + labor for less than half of that. It was our mistake for not shopping around more and through trusting our agent in using them, don't make the same mistake as us! JGB promised us the world in the beginning: working with us on cost, making us maximize our claims, etc. As a more reputable Yelper then the 0 friend reviewers for them on 5 stars, take it from me. I did not get someone on the phone right away, but I got a call back in less than 5 min. In less than an hour, Christofer was over my house to check the leak. He was very knowledgeable, had good equipment to find moisture in the wall, was upfront and helpful. He was also very patient while I dealt with my HOA, who was responsible for the leak, and giving me the runaround. I am going through stage VI kidney failure and two types of cancer. My house was flooded and the first contractor didn't do a good job and broke some of my items and was taking almost two months to paint the walls. I was in dire help, so my insurance agency recommended JGB. Chris was courteous when I spoke to him at first and promised he would do his best to help me with my home and told me to trust him, he promised he would take care of me. He sent a team of people to my home to help pack what was left of my belongings. I packed alongside Chris' son, and did it quickly as I was told by Jose I only had a three hour time frame, so my closet was not packed out. The next morning, I receive a disturbing phone call from my neighbors that items were left outside from my packout and that my neighbor had to fight a person from stealing the rest of my belongings. When I finally rushed over, my television and some other belongings they had wrapped we're sitting outside ( I later found out the television was damaged during the tussle between the neighbor and the thief). I called Chris immediately and he never offered to replace my belongings ( I later found out from the pack out team it was Chris' son whom had left out the items ). I decided to continue with the renovation which was handed off to other subcontractors, and during that time, Chris stopped answering my calls and only communicated through text, and would advise me to go through the subcontractors project manager, rather than contacting him. During the time they were ready to install my flooring, a subcontractor was at my home with a igloo lunchbox full of bud lights, drinking on the job, and so spun out on meth, he couldn't hold a decent conversation, nor could you understand him. He to say, this subcontractor team ended up staying overnight in my home, stealing items from the closet that was never packed out, and the next day didn't come back till 8pm and my neighbor had to call the police because they were still there after noise abatement. By the time myself and the police arrived, the house smelled like weed and other paraphanilia, and I had to file a police report. If that wasn't enough, after 4 months of living in a hotel, and finally having my items brought to me, the pack out was not a pack out but a dropping off of multiple boxes and furniture, then they took off and left me. On top of that, while I was spending days to organize my home, Chris only contacted me for his money, yet while I'm finally organizing my items, there's electronics and other items missing from when I was packed out. Chris did not care one bit. He wanted his money, and on top of all of that, he had given me a total amount on the 3rd of October, and since then, that amount has risen 4,000 dollars from his previous total. This experience has caused me so much anguish, stress, and pain that my kidneys are closer to failing, I cannot pay to go to the hospital when I am in any pain or sick, ( I throw up under stress), I don't have money to pay my mortgage, and I won't have money to pay my property tax. What I could of sold to cover my expenses was stolen from me, as well as the feeling of being safe in my home has turned into being violated and taken advantage of more than once. The 6th and 7th floors, consisting of 16 units, or about one third of a 48 residential unit building are STILL without hot water! It's freezing cold out and yet we have ONE THIRD of our residents without hot water. Please spare me with your IMMEDIATE service claim! Amazing service! The entire team was on board with helping me with my leaking water heater. At first I thought I needed to replace the entire heater, but Sean contacted me the same day and came out right away with the drying/heating machines and located the problem. Turns out it was just a couple of old pipes that needed replacing, so they recommended a great plumbing company to help take care of the issue. After a few more days of drying, Mike came out to handle the removal of the damaged drywall to see how bad the damage was. Like everyone, it seems, we suffered a water intrusion in January. We finished the asbestos abatement and were ready to get the next phase rolling. They did a good job scheduling the meeting quickly. Chris Langman, President, came out to look at the job. He seemed like a nice guy, pretty knowledgeable. Said he would get ab estimate out probably the next day. I even tried to help him with the estimate by letting him take pictures of my insurance companies estimate so he really just had to input the data. I never received anything. After following up with two calls on different days for an estimate.. no return calls and no estimate.. That equals no job! JGB Restoration did a great job coming out when we first had the pipe burst and my first review reflected that. The damage was fixed fast and they were very responsible. This was in October 2021. Fast forward to JGB Rebuild, same company, different name, same owner. Worst customer service ever, twice we were told our cabinets were paid for and installation would start, twice it was a "mistake" per the person that called from the office. This was in December 2021 and January 2022. We pleaded with the owner, Chris, to get it done because my husband had terminal cancer. He wanted to see the kitchen done. In November Chris promised it would be done before Christmas. Here we are, June 3, 2022! Is our kitchen done? No it is not. My husband has now had strokes, he has been hospitalized twice in the past 6 weeks, he may never see the kitchen done. Never have we seen such incompetence, we signed the contract with JGB they are responsible for this failure. Thankfully there are steps to take and report this kind of incompetence. They worked tirelessly to ensure every step of the process was done on time but without rushing the craftsmanship. We had serious water damage in our home early December. Our insurance suggested we call JGB Restoration to have someone check out our property for an assessment to follow up with clean up and sanitation. We called and scheduled their Project Manager Jose Preciado to assess the damage and present a report to our insurance in order to do the work. Their project manager showed up on a Thursday evening, stayed for over an hour measuring humidity, wrote lots of notes, worked on his tablet and made a fancy diagram of my home's affected area. We answered all his questions in regards to how the issue unfolded, what we proceeded to do after the incident and he explained what the process would be following up. Five days went by and my insurance never received a report from him. They called JGB Restoration to inquire and they couldn't provide any information about our report because no information with our names were on file. I called Jose and when he pick up he was confused, he didn't seem to remember us or the situation in our home. When he finally remembered, he also admitter to have forgotten. His words were "I am so sorry, I may have dropped the ball". I was very upset but thought, you know what, we need to get the ball rolling because my home still has water damage and we need someone to come and clean up, we didn't have the luxury to wait any more days and schedule someone else to come out, that meant more time so just send the report please. Unfortunately, after I hung up, Jose proceeded to send several text messages asking for information we had already provided when we showed up the week before. He didn't even remember what the report from the plumber said or that we even had a plumber come out. At that point we were done and knew we couldn't work with such irresponsible people. read more

Nearly my entire townhome flooded due to an upstairs toilet on 11/3/2017 while I was at work. By the time I got home after 6 p.m. there were inches of water downstairs and the upstairs, staircase, ceilings, and more were soaked. They explained all the things that would/could happen and help me understand insurance coverage.
