The clerk wasn't outright rude, but for the first several minutes seemed pretentious, like I wasn't good enough to stay there. He didn't introduce himself or ask my name; I introduced myself and asked his name after check-in, and he warmed up a bit. It felt like I'd caught him doing something wrong or arrived before he was ready. I had to ask multiple questions because he didn't offer information or engage. My customer service was on point--his, not so much. I'd been driving all day and was exhausted, wearing very casual clothes, but he felt very judgey. I asked to see the rooms after reading reviews. The first was rundown and not worth the $150 he quoted. He kept going into the back office between questions, implying he was busy or nearly full (there was only one car outside). When I asked to see the other side of the hotel, which had allegedly been updated, he bragged about being fully booked, though I only ever saw three cars. Odd. The second room was just okay, but I was too tired to find another hotel, so I stayed one night. Few things frustrate me more than visible neglect and lack of detail. There were drywall screw heads popping out, scuffed walls, holes, and water-damaged bathroom drywall from a poorly placed glass shower door--crumbling onto the floor. The floor itself was dirty. The outer entry door was peeling badly, shedding bits of clear coating onto the floor and my hands. The blinds appeared to not have been cleaned in months--which should be done regularly. The bed frame was filthy--dust, debris, bits of wrappers and food. It was clearly dirty, with oils, handprints, and dried liquids (I'll leave that to your imagination). The closet doors, off-white, had visible hand grime. The disinfectant wipes I used were brown - yuck. The lamp was dusty, an outlet near the bed had a broken metal piece stuck inside, and both the bathroom vent and hair dryer were caked with dust. The dryer filter hadn't been cleaned in ages. The countertop above the mini fridge was detaching, the bathroom shelf was decaying, and the shower glass hadn't been cleaned. The creamy drip marks on the wall--hopefully conditioner or soap--remained, and the grout was mold-stained. A simple bleach spray would've fixed it. The shower water pressure was awful, with calcification that needs vinegar soaking. It also leaked from the stem. Meanwhile, the sink had too much pressure. The cleaning staff were wonderful--always offering help. The issues here clearly stem from management, not staff. I realize this isn't a four-star hotel and that my standards are higher than average. Having worked in property management and emergency response, I've been in many homes across all conditions and know what "clean" should look like. I attached photos (which don't even capture all of it) so others can decide for themselves. Public beds and showers should be cleaned frequently so dust, germs, and bugs don't build up. The initial clerk did warm up by the end, and wasn't outright rude, just awkward and pretentious at first. When I checked out, a different man was working. He was extremely pushy, insisting I stay longer despite me saying I had to get back on the road. Then he handed me a clipboard and said it was mandatory to fill out--a sheet listing my name, room number, and space for comments, stacked under previous guests' notes. I told him I'd review the hotel online instead. He insisted I fill in each section, so under "comments" I wrote "review on Yelp." Other than being pushy, he was friendly--but it was an annoying end to a stay that wasn't worth the cost. Not the worst stay I've had, but definitely not one I'd repeat.

It was close to midnight when we arrived in LA, and when we called the place to ask how to get there, our sleepy greeter took us around in circles a few times, but we finally found it! We took a larger room [not the cottage, although it looked like a great place to stay for more privacy] which had sole use of one bathroom, and it was more than adequate for our needs. Sylvester served us a gorgeous breakfast every morning, and made sure we were off with bottled water every time we would leave. His demeanor in the morning was truly a great start to every day, and the breakfast was always fresh and HUUUGE portions! The parking is a bit of a pinch when it's full, as you end up somewhat squished between cars or in someone's way, but it was gated, which was lovely. The Secret Garden is situated right off the Sunset Strip, and very little legwork is needed to get to the heart of West Hollywood. For those who are more ambitious, you can walk into the hills, although it's a pretty steep walk. There are two gorgeous cats who walk around and will come and keep you company in your room, if you wish. :)

The deviled eggs and the curry chicken sandwhich were my favorite but all the sandwiches were pretty good. Price is a bit high compared to other afternoon teas but we were here for a special occasion. Staff was very nice. She would come and check on us or if we needed something and knocked was very responsive.

The rooms and amenities are all updated however, and if you want to be close to Universal Studios or Studio City in general, this hotel is excellent. They even have a free trolley that runs hourly to/from Universal Studios and a LA bus terminal. Our 3-night stay during Memorial Day was great - comfortable rooms, beds, and friendly service. Rooms had plenty of storage space and charing ports, and wifi is free and fast. They also have an agenda of daily activities like group exercise classes, LA hot dog/taco nights, and classic movies next to the pool. Their main restaurant, Front Yard offers a daily breakfast buffet and ala carte brunch, lunch, and dinner. The only reason for the -1 stars is that their AC is an older, in-wall unit that gets loud when turned on. Outdoor Parking also isn't cheap at $50/night with in/out privileges but that may be typical for the area.

Our electric car was charging on site and we were running back and forth doing things for the wedding, setting up, etc. No one informed us that there would be an additional charge if we were still parked there after our car was done charging. $58 later and when we mentioned that in our review through the hotel, they said they'd comp our food bill, which was 2 drinks and a fruit bowl, probably $20+. This was disappointing to my mom, who went beyond her means to stay on site for the wedding. This was completely disappointing as we were traveling for a wedding that took place on site. 2 of us were luckily able to stay in the luxury suite which was reserved for the groom get ready room (2 nights). If those stars hadn't aligned, we would not have been able to sleep comfortably in our 1 king room. Also, the suite does not have a microwave in it, we had to request one to be brought up, which I found unconventional. My cousin had their wedding here for how much money my aunt spent between the suite, a bride get ready room, and just the general costs of a wedding, it was disappointing to hear she had a difficult experience here as well. She mentioned that they pulled her away from her son's wedding reception to place her credit card down for incidentals. Why hadn't that happened beforehand? They had her card on file already between all the rooms she booked, so the fact that they took her away from this once in a lifetime experience is ridiculous. She also mentioned that they asked not only for her card info but for her ID. She told them she was not going out of her way to find that when she didn't have it on hand and they were in the middle of celebrating. Needless to say, it was an unfortunate experience this time around. I've been here before and didn't experience the lack of professionalism we experienced this time. The valet service and the staff that supports with luggage were very helpful and kind. It saddens me to have to write such a poor review for such a beautiful place. I have recommended this place to people in the past for general lodging. However, for weddings or any big event, this is not the best of places to host.

I'm writing this review because I was not pleased with how a guest was treated at your hotel business today. After today's experience, which was the complete opposite of hospitality, we will no longer be staying with SpringHill Marriot on San Fernando Blvd. in Burbank. Has hospitality in the hospitality industry ended or something? Since when do we make hotel guests (who like to tip) hunt down and fetch their own luggage cart without offering assistance, let alone help locating cart? The guest, who is arthritic, called to ask for a luggage cart to her hotel room, was told to go find a cart no one was available to bring a luggage cart to her room. The guest just wanted to be able to check out & felt embarrassed trying to locate a luggage while hotel employees watched on and did not offer help. The woman Cara at the front desk could not be bothered to help either. I will Also mention that when we booked this reservation,,whoever took the information down on the hotels end did not properly enter the reservation into the hotel system. So our guests Check in ALSO did not go smoothly. We had to get that fixed as well. More time wasted. I rarely write a bad review on Yelp but I strongly feel it is necessary this time. The home itself is indescribable; three stories and decorated with crystals, salt lamps, and many colors. They have a small outdoor area in the third floor and it truly doesn't even feel like you're in Los Angeles. The owner, Hedda, is very kind. She has a big heart and warm energy that you'll notice right off the bat. I highly recommend visiting the Treehouse. They hold soundbaths on the full and new moon, along with hosting many other interesting events.

So six family members ended up renting all three Sanborn properties for the weekend, each had very positive things to say. My husband and I stayed at the Coronado for four nights and absolutely loved it! For $85 a night, you can't beat having a full kitchen and FREE wifi! I think we managed to only buy two meals while were were on our trip. We spent about $100 on groceries at the Smart & Final near the apartment, and cooked most of our meals there, which saved us a ton of money! The host we talked to a couple of times, Jonathon, was very friendly and helped us with our luggage right off the bat. One huge plus was not having to clean the apartment before we checked out. I have rented a handful of houses before which we always had to "clean" ourselves if we didn't want to pay extra. The Coronado did not make us clean (even though we did as much as we could to not look like slobs upon leaving for common courtesy). I saw other people complain about thin walls, and hearing the other tenants in the building. That was never an issue while we were there. One of our favorite features was the rear entry to the private parking area. We didn't use the front door once while we were there. The only thing I would want to mention is that the driveway to the private parking is SO narrow, it would be unlikely that anything other than a small SUV or car could make it up the driveway. There's no way a Tahoe or anything large like that would be able to utilize the private parking. It worked fine for us in our Jeep Patriot, but we had to be very careful. The apartment isn't in the best neighborhood, but it seemed safe enough while we were there, and it's just minutes from Silver Lake and some great shopping on Sunset Blvd. There was a great view of the city at night from our balcony, and I really enjoyed looking out at night when the city was all lit up. All and all, we very much enjoyed our stay at the CORONADO and would highly recommend it, and stay there again. We also visited Tyler's Place where my in-laws were staying, and it was really nice. I probably wouldn't stay there however, as they had to share a kitchen with other guests they didn't know. That would work great if both sides of the house were being rented by people in your party though.
