Not all franchise is the same. I enjoyed the Ji Bei Chuan Noodles in 86th Street (Brooklyn) and Bayside (Queens) but for this location I can't say the same. Let's talk about the pro, no tips. So it means more of self service. The noodle (Supreme Fish Maw Chicken Soup Rice Noodles) I got tasted weird. Like a some strong chicken taste couldn't tell if the chicken was not fresh or if it was not prepped properly. I don't know if I would come back anytime soon.

Came here a few times now and it's been a hit or miss. If you like noodle soup, especially fish maw noodle soup you'll love this place. I got their beef noodle and I was stuffffed to the bone. The more I ate the more food and goodies I found at the bottom. Pleasant surprise to say the least. Do not get their rice dishes IMO. I repeat do not get their rice dishes. Or maybe just this one in particular. I got their fatty beef rice bowl and it was a HUGE disappointment. I thought it would have similar quality to their noodles but I was wrong. You don't have to tip here which is great and prices are pretty reasonable. $9-13 an entree Plenty of seating and a self serve station. You order at the front desk and can pay right after or later.

We went around 6 PM to have dinner and it was a great choice to come here. When you first enter, they'll ask you how many people and then give you menus. You can take a seat and then order and pay at the front once you've decided. Shortly after you're seated, they'll bring you a cup of warm water. We ordered a beef shank rice noodles, Thai style spicy beef slice rice noodles, tom yum goong seafood noodles, beef shank sauce mixed rice noodles, and taro & sweet potato ball. There's also a lot of toppings, which I was surprised as that's rare these days. The total was $56, which is cheap as the serving size of the noodles were huge. If you pay cash, there's no tax. There's also a no tipping policy. I would definitely come back for more!

I stumbled across this place and I absolutely love it! The interior is clean. The food is amazing, and so are the portions and prices! The chicken wings are incredibly crispy, tender, and seasoned well, with a side of ketchup for dipping. The Thinly Sliced Beef Mix Noodles are great, also pretty spicy. They're very generous with the beef, and you get cucumber strips, cilantro, and marinated egg. But my favorite go to has to be the Tomato Beef Shank Noodle Soup. The tomato soup is perfectly sweet, tangy, and savory. The beef shank is very tender, and the noodles are perfectly cooked. There's also a lot of extra toppings you get in it like tofu, quail eggs, kelp, wood ear mushrooms, Napa cabbage, and tofu skin, and corn. All for the unbeatable price of $12! And the best part? You walk in, grab a menu, sit down, order at the counter, pay, and they'll bring the food out to you. It's almost self serve so tips aren't even mandatory! And if you pay cash, tax is exempt! So for $12, you get yourself a nice and filling bowl of noodles!

This place is pretty popular and gets packed, especially during lunch hours. I can see why though... the menu is extensive and affordable. There's something for everyone. It's a casual spot, grab your seat and order. I got the Thai style spicy noodle soup with beef and a mala spicy soup noodle with pig intestines. The food came quick and the portion size was generous. Came with lots of veggies and noodles. The broth for both was also good. I was surprised by the Thai spicy broth -- expected it to be more coconut base like most Thai curries but it was more of a sour spicy, which I like. It was a positive experience so far until I notice a bug in my noodle. Told the cashier/server and she didn't do much. Just apologized and took a picture to show the kitchen staff so they'll be more attentive next time. She did bring out a new bowl of noodles for me. It was a lot of food and I couldn't finish. At that point, I think I lost my appetite. The staff response wasn't very good, especially to a complaint like this. Never went back after that experience.

Had the Original Bone Broth Noodles with Chicken and the soup was nice and warm, especially a rich chicken flavor. It had enoki mushrooms, 5 pieces of Chicken. Service was quick and staff were friendly.

Got their signature Fish Maw Noodles with chicken and it was delicious for $15. If you pay with cash, there's no sales tax. Love that there's no tip required either for dine in. Service was quick and the portions are huge. Can easily share 2 noodle dishes between 3 people. Very flavorful and they even give you warm lemon water!

The perfect place to go for a bowl of warm noodles on a cold day. You pay at the counter, sit at a table, and they bring you the table. It is fast and no frills. The bowl is enormous and packed with noodles. There is no tax so each dish is around $12 total. Having tried so many of their dishes, my favorite at their signature R1 the Fish Maw noodles with the Chicken and the the Mala Pig Instestine Noodles

Our office ordered from here on a Monday during lunch time. I tried their Original Broth with Fatty Beef Slices Rice Noodles. The packaging of the noodles was very impressive and did not leave any room for spillage. The soup itself was a bit on the lighter side but it had a nice flavor. I do wish there was a bit more ingredients inside though including more diversity of items. I also had an order of scallion pancakes. The pancakes were yummy but a bit soggy unfortunately. All in all, a nice lunch spot if you're craving rice noodles.

Fish maw and chicken noodles soup with beef

Came here for a quick lunch and we ordered the fish maw and chicken noodle soup without the chicken and instead added beef slices. Also got a side order of the braised beef tripe. The soup was very flavorful, very soothing and comforting on a cold day. There's a lot of chicken flavor and some herbal flavor to it. The noodles were nice and chewy and there's a whole bunch of toppings inside including fried tofu, variety of mushrooms and seaweed. Also a few slices of fish maw which I didn't care for as it literally has no taste. The braised tripe was very good and flavorful and the dipping sauce was what made it a standout. The sauce was so refreshing and just added a more interesting taste to the tripe. It is a fast casual restaurant so you order at the front and then sit wherever you want. Overall, this was a nice spot for a quick lunch, pretty clean and fast service.

With fish maw being in their name, and being that it's a Chinese mommy's fave, Ji Bei Chuan was my pick for lunch with Mom one day. You pay up front and keep the receipt on your table for servers to locate and serve the dishes to you. The spot seemed spacious and clean, with individually wrapped chopsticks. What's unique here, and that I appreciate, is that they serve hot lemon tea! I am not the biggest fan, but it is a big reliever in digesting the GIGANTIC bowls they offer. The Woodear Salad ($5) were nicely sized pieces. They were lightly drenched in vinegar to offer an addicting tangy taste. My mom's order of Surpreme Fish Maw Chicken Soup Rice Noodles ($15) has every right to get 2 thumbs up on the menu. The bold yellow color was deterring at first, but my god, it was a hearty sweet broth! Their fish maw actually weren't minuscule pieces, although they were super soft, probably from its flavor being transferred into the broth. I had a chicken, and I don't think I ever had breast meat this insanely tender and soft before! My Sauerkraut Beef Brisket Rice Noodles ($12) had 1 thumbs up too, but it unfortunately does not hit the same. The Sauerkraut refers to the pickled veggies inside. I was expecting sour, but got more spicy instead! Fair warning as there were no chili peppers on this dish! The beef briskets were dry, but there were a few tender parts. The main winner for me is their rice noodle base. Their rice noodles are sooo soft! I'm surprised there aren't more reviews, but I assume this is more a locals spot as it was bustling when I went. Please give this place a try, as there are still more options I look forward to tasting for next time.

Newly opened spot in Brooklyn. Ji Bei Chuan is a hole in the wall, a hidden gem that I wanted to keep a secret. But that would be doing an injustice to the Yelp community. I wasn't the first to discover this location, I was extremely sick from the flu, and a friend of mine did take out of the fish maw chicken noodle soup. The soup was delicious and cleared all my sinus. It was so hot, with such bouncy noodles. The chicken was like silk, bouncy and juicy. Also, you don't see a Chinese delicacy like fish maw in regular noodle spots, and I was skeptical at first, but the fish maw is actual fish maw. After the first take out, I went to try their other dishes in person. It is formatted like a food court, you walk to the cash register to order the food, and they bring it over. I had their cucumber, braised three platter (this is three types of meats - pork intestine, beef shank and beef tripe) all delicious. Did not disappoint!!! I also tried their sauerkraut beef trio roc noodle - dry noodle and it was amazing as well. This is one of these spots that I will continue to return to. Their dishes are below $15 each, and if you eat in person they have a no tipping policy. The location is also really clean and workers are extremely patient with explaining their options. Food comes out quickly, so the wait is short.

Great service and fresh food! Love the noodles!

The brown sugar is missing some caramelized flavor. So it is a sweet rice ball. 5/10 I think the temperature inside would be fine if you go during a cool day. When it's a hot day, the restaurant could get very hot even if they turn on both ACs. With just 2 ACs insides, and eating a hot bowl of spicy soup noodle, we were all sweating inside. I also ordered their new dish with has abalone and sea cucumber; this is not part of a set meal. I thoroughly enjoyed it. It has that umami sweetness that comes from a great soup base and the noodles are delicious as usual. The abalone was tender, the sea cucumber had a bite to it. There was fish maw and wood ear in there as well.

Plus, it had a side salad to balance all the grease here. For the entrees, we had to get the udon and shared the Niku Udon ($25) and Salmon Ikura Udon ($30). It was a nice combo between a hot and cold udon. The Niku was your classic udon bowl filled with plenty of beef and a perfectly soft-boiled egg. The broth was sweet and savory for a warm and comforting meal. On the other hand, the salmon udon was quite unique with matcha udon and fresh salmon. There is a dashi to pour and mix into the noodles, which still gave it flavor and the slurp you want in a udon. Both were so great in its own way. After my first few bites of their Tora Don and Chirashi Don, it was clear that this restaurant has the better quality seafood. Each slice of sashimi had vibrant colors, clean taste, and the proper texture. Tomoni is not bad, but fall slightly short of this caliber. With that said, there is an even farther gap between their rice quality. Though Tora is very good, Tomoni produces nearly perfect texture and acidity for my taste buds. Other than the best omakase restaurants in NYC, Tomoni shines as one of the best versions of sushi rice in the five boroughs. Service is good and space is cute.
