We had lunch here on a Saturday afternoon and the place was packed. It is next to H Mart. We ordered Peking duck and it was from Tan Tan Wok, the egg rolls and banh bot chien rice cake came from Jia Kitchen. There is an opening between 2 restaurants. Our waitress told us it's the same owner. They were busy but the food came out quickly. We liked the rice cake, it was crispy and the vinegar sauce with peppers to dip just perfect. The Peking duck was delicious and reasonably priced compared to other restaurants that serve Peking duck. Overall, the food was good. The behavior of the manager need to improved. This was the worse experienced I've ever had at Jia Kitchen. We ordered the Clams w/ Black Bean Sauce- Nghêu xào tàu xì. The clams were like not cook and done at all. It seems not right, good and fresh. and not hot at all. And the waitress talked to the manager and he said it was only 3 clams left on our plate and rejected to come out to talk to us. That is so DISRESPECTFUL I've ever had in my life to eat out. Jia Kitchen and neighboring Tan Tan Wok are really all one and the same restaurant. Slightly different ambience, but they share the same menu and staff. I've been here more than a few times, and almost always start with a Thai Tea. Which is served in a frothy, icy carafe. My usual entrée is the Salt and Pepper Squid, and I recently tried the Crispy Beef with Tangerine. It was well worth the wait for that dish. The lightly breaded beef was very tender and served in a sweet tangerine-ginger sauce with just a hint of heat. If you choose fried rice, in lieu of, the usual steam rice, you'll be pleased with an actual handmade fried rice, and not something out of the Sysco Asian food catalog. Stopped by recently on a weekday around 4pm for a super late lunch, so the restaurant was pretty much empty at the time. We were quickly seated and got our foods ordered pretty quickly as well, and they did not take long to come out either. It seemed like the prices went up by a lot from the last time we were here, but that was fine. We ordered the roti and curry starter, crispy seafood flat rice noodles, Kinh Do spare ribs, and bbq pork and chinese sausage fried rice. My favorite was probably the the roti and curry starter which was super good. The curry was flavorful, and the roti was fluffy and light. The Kinh Do spare ribs were not bad. The fried rice tasted like typical Chinese restaurant fried rice and a bit bland, so it was not that special. The most disappointing part of the meal was probably the seafood flat rice noodle. The flavors were good, but the seafoods were pretty nonexistent (only a few pieces). It was close to $20, so we had expected it to have at least a bit more seafoods in it. Overall, it was only okay, especially for the price. I don't mind paying a lot for good foods, but I don't think it was very worth it here. There are lots of restaurants here in Katy Asian Town, so there are better options to choose from. I wouldn't go out of our way to come back here unless I really couldn't decide on another place in this area. read more

Pretty decent Asian cuisine. I had the Squid Ink Fried Rice with Fresh Coconut Water. I like the squid bits they added to the fried rice. It adds a subtle sweetness to the whole dish, but I had to touch up the rice with more salt/soy sauce than I wanted to add. The rice itself was plain and unseasoned, and even the squid ink didn't add enough flavor to save the dish. But I loved the coconut water (served in an actual young coconut). Came here on a Tuesday evening, a hour before closing time. Right after we got seated we noticed how crowded it got. Staff was helpful and humble (even though they closing time was near). First time here. We went with a friend who is a local and she said this place was good. I really like the art and the zodiac signs on the wall. The server was also nice and gave recommendations. He did recommend the sweet and sour pork and I LOVE sweet and sour pork, so I went forward with the order. It comes with the big bowl of rice. When I tried the pork, it was not great. There is too much breading compared the pork causing it to be more crispy rather than chewy. It is also too sweet. I also tried my friend's walnut shrimp and that tastes good except the skin on the shrimp is still on the inside? I'm not sure if that is typical but I did not enjoy the texture of the shrimp skin. As for the portions, they are big so you should share the food instead of ordering each dish for yourself. We had to take to-go boxes. We used to really like this place. My husband and daughter love their egg fried rice, even though it's overpriced at $16, especially considering it doesn't come with a meal. We would still order it on top of another entrée that already came with white rice. That says a lot. Even after moving from Katy to Richmond, we kept coming back here, but today was our last visit. The service has consistently gone downhill and I'm fed up. This was the fourth time we had to flag someone down just to place our drink order or ask for anything at all. They're never attentive and don't check in throughout the meal. What really did it for us today was when they came straight to our table to ask for the Sriracha, while leaving it on every other table around us. Then suddenly they were quick to drop the bill without asking if we needed anything else. I didn't leave a tip this time and only then did someone come back to ask what was wrong, but it was clear they didn't really care about our feedback. Last time we came, our server wouldn't even make eye contact with us. I don't know what's going on with the staff here but they've officially lost our business. Stumbled upon this place from a wonderful recommendation from my girlfriend, and this place was great! Service was good, very quick and efficient during a packed/busy house in a timely manner. Our food came out pretty quickly within 5-8 minutes and we were pretty pleased with the timing of it! A must go to spot in Katy Asian town! We were looking for a place that has noodle soup since our favorite spot phanh ky was closed and we got lucky because they had exactly what we were craving for. My hubby and I got the shrimp and pork wonton noodle soup and the shrimp noodle soup. Omg did it hit the spot! The soup was so flavorful that it didn't need any condiments or sauces. Decide to check Jia's out because of the pictures I saw of the food and it seemed like it was worth it. It seems like it's a branch of Tan Tan. The dishes seem a tad bit more modernized compared to tan tan, at least the way they plate it. I ordered the chicken with sticky rice and it was pretty good. It took a little longer to come out compare to the other dishes my family ordered so I assume the rice and chicken are cooked to order? The sticky rice was really good and the chicken was your average roasted chicken. The bánh bôt chiên ( fried egg with rice flour) was good I just wish it was a little more crispier. I've been dying to try this place for a while now, and I'm so glad I finally did. This place is know for their rice soups so we got the seafood rice soup. The taste was very different but I enjoyed it (added sriracha to make it Spicier). We also got the shrimp noodles and sesame chicken (comes with white rice and broccoli). I wasn't huge fan of the noodles itself, however I liked how the shrimp, onions, and peppers were seasoned. The sesame chicken was delicious and it was enough to feed 3 people. The service was great, our server was very attentive and gave us recommendations on what type of rice soup we should get. I reheated it in my air fryer to get it back to its crispy glory. Air fried the rice cake back up too and it was yummy. My only qualms were the cheese puffs , not too great and that the roasted chicken is only half the quail :(. Pho ga dakao in bellaire gives you the whole bird. Nevertheless I still devoured it. Every time we go to Katy Asian Town we decide to try a new restaurant, Jia Kitchen happened to be on the list after searching for a place that served bahn bot chien (rice cake). The restaurant was fairly busy, shares a space with the other Tan Tan restaurant, only connected via glass door. I believe you can order off both menus (Chinese and Vietnamese flavors). We ordered the Rice cake, Grilled Pork with Broken Rice and Grilled Pork bowl with vermicelli. The rice cake was good, probably the best of the 3 plates we had. Great spot in Katy Asian Town! It's related to Tan Tan, so you'll find a lot of the classic Tan Tan dishes here, like banh bot chien (egg and rice cake), bo luc lac (shaking beef), mi vit (duck noodle soup), among others. I got a banh bot chien to-go and they promptly prepared it in less than 10 minutes. They placed it in a personal pizza box so that you don't have to worry about fragile contents breaking up. It was delicious...the rice cakes were crispy and the egg was cooked perfectly (I find that some places undercook the egg to the point it's still runny). The green onions and radish bits to top it off were the perfect touch. This reminded me of my childhood days going to Tan Tan with the fam and getting banh bot chien as an appetizer before a feast.
