Jia Kitchen is a great place to grab chinese/vietnamese food in Katy Asian Town. Huge menu and friendly staff. Food had big portion sizes, had to grab a togo box for both our meals. It was fairly priced too. Overall I would come back!

we were shopping at H Mart and got hungry so we decided to walk around and see what we liked. When we got to Jia Kitchen the food looked good and the place was packed; both good signs we started off with the roti and curry - the curry was good but the roti was too oily. we then got the veggie soup with thick noodles - the portion was huge and it had lots of veggies and lots of flavor. i went with friends and they got more dishes including dumplings and beef dishes. portion size was good and flavor was great overall good food with big portion size and big flavor

Another good experience here after a 7 month break. They are slightly short staffed but good came out quick enough. The wonton soup and walnut shrimp were amazing! Green beans were crispy. Hot tea was yummy!

Che thai/ thai desert 4/5. Cant mess it up.

Food The malaysian clear glass noodles was beef 4/5 was pretty good. The beef was slightly dry but the portion and flavor was solid. Flavorful and soy saucey with veggies mixed. Thai sweet and soicy wings 5/5 Sweet and spicy battered wings. Very solid and nicely flavored and slightly spicy. Fried rice 4/5 Smokey and has assorted protein such as beef and chinese sausage. I would order it again. Good for sharing!! Pecking duck 2/5 I would not order this again. Limited baos and not much duck. Duck quality was dry and stale. Salt roasted shrimp 5/5 Lovely battered and crunchy so flavorful you have to eat the shrimp with the shell or you are MISSING OUT. Banh bot chien/ rice cake omlette 4.5/5 The rice cake is good. Crispy and fresh. Paired with the sweet soy sauce is A MUST. I'd order it again Service 3/5 Felt rushed. Employee offered to help with to-go ing left overs despite us saying we could do it ourselves. But its fine just come for the food haha.

Be sure to check that your food is fully cooked. I ordered the mực rang muối (salt-toasted squid), but the batter was still raw. When I mentioned it to a server, she asked, "Do you want it medium or well done?"...which was confusing, since this isn't a steakhouse, and squid should be cooked through. A family member also mentioned that on a previous visit, their fish was undercooked as well. Just a word of caution.

Jia Kitchen and neighboring Tan Tan Wok are really all one and the same restaurant. Slightly different ambience, but they share the same menu and staff. I've been here more than a few times, and almost always start with a Thai Tea. Which is served in a frothy, icy carafe. My usual entrée is the Salt and Pepper Squid, and I recently tried the Crispy Beef with Tangerine. It was well worth the wait for that dish. The lightly breaded beef was very tender and served in a sweet tangerine-ginger sauce with just a hint of heat. If you choose fried rice, in lieu of, the usual steam rice, you'll be pleased with an actual handmade fried rice, and not something out of the Sysco Asian food catalog. Every time I've dined here I've always seen tables full of families, sharing dishes. It seems to be a favorite spot for many locals.

Stopped by recently on a weekday around 4pm for a super late lunch, so the restaurant was pretty much empty at the time. We were quickly seated and got our foods ordered pretty quickly as well, and they did not take long to come out either. It seemed like the prices went up by a lot from the last time we were here, but that was fine. We ordered the roti and curry starter, crispy seafood flat rice noodles, Kinh Do spare ribs, and bbq pork and chinese sausage fried rice. My favorite was probably the the roti and curry starter which was super good. The curry was flavorful, and the roti was fluffy and light. The Kinh Do spare ribs were not bad. The fried rice tasted like typical Chinese restaurant fried rice and a bit bland, so it was not that special. The most disappointing part of the meal was probably the seafood flat rice noodle. The flavors were good, but the seafoods were pretty nonexistent (only a few pieces). It was close to $20, so we had expected it to have at least a bit more seafoods in it. Overall, it was only okay, especially for the price. I don't mind paying a lot for good foods, but I don't think it was very worth it here. There are lots of restaurants here in Katy Asian Town, so there are better options to choose from. I wouldn't go out of our way to come back here unless I really couldn't decide on another place in this area.

Pretty decent Asian cuisine. I had the Squid Ink Fried Rice with Fresh Coconut Water. I like the squid bits they added to the fried rice. It adds a subtle sweetness to the whole dish, but I had to touch up the rice with more salt/soy sauce than I wanted to add. The rice itself was plain and unseasoned, and even the squid ink didn't add enough flavor to save the dish. But I loved the coconut water (served in an actual young coconut). The water was fresh and sweet, a perfect drink for a hot summer day.

Came here on a Tuesday evening, a hour before closing time. Right after we got seated we noticed how crowded it got. Staff was helpful and humble (even though they closing time was near). Our waitress was great and very attentive. We order - banh bot chien - house special rice cake Hu tieu xao ap chao - crispy flat noodles with Chinese broccoli and beef Nui xao bo luc lac - shaken beef with macaroni Ambiance - I was telling my husband it reminds me of Tan Tan and sure enough he looked the restaurant up and it is own by the same owners. Great place food quick Chinese food.

First time here. We went with a friend who is a local and she said this place was good. I really like the art and the zodiac signs on the wall. The server was also nice and gave recommendations. He did recommend the sweet and sour pork and I LOVE sweet and sour pork, so I went forward with the order. It comes with the big bowl of rice. When I tried the pork, it was not great. There is too much breading compared the pork causing it to be more crispy rather than chewy. It is also too sweet. I also tried my friend's walnut shrimp and that tastes good except the skin on the shrimp is still on the inside? I'm not sure if that is typical but I did not enjoy the texture of the shrimp skin. As for the portions, they are big so you should share the food instead of ordering each dish for yourself. We had to take to-go boxes. Rice is cooked well and servers are quick, but I did not enjoy the food.

First time at this restaurant, and it was delicious. Service was excellent. I was there for lunch with friends. The food was delicious and the portions are definitely shareable. You can order more then one plate and share all the variety that's available on the menu.

A must go to spot in Katy Asian town! We were looking for a place that has noodle soup since our favorite spot phanh ky was closed and we got lucky because they had exactly what we were craving for. My hubby and I got the shrimp and pork wonton noodle soup and the shrimp noodle soup. Omg did it hit the spot! The soup was so flavorful that it didn't need any condiments or sauces. I had a little chili oil on the side but really didn't need it. The kids also had their own soups and the orange chicken. All very tasty. I believe Jia Kitchen and Tan Tan Wok are now one restaurant so I'm giving 5 stars to both. Service is excellent, ambience is amazing and the food is top tier.

Service was fast and friendly. No wait for a table Saturday lunch. I had the Banh bot chien -- the bot was more mush than chewy but overall still tasty. The Banh uot was good, the fish sauce needed a bit more fish sauce. It needed a bigger kick. Overall though food was good.

I was really impressed by the packaging as they give a heat regulated thermal bag for the order. I appreciated that they have a number of non pork options as I don't eat pork. The chicken soup dumplings were flavorful though I'd have liked more soup. I put some red pepper flakes on top as there was no chili oil provided. The combo came with general tso's chicken and I opted for lo mein instead of fried rice. The dish as delicious but the chicken was dry. The combo also came with 2 thumb print pork dumplings which I didn't try and regular chicken dumplings which lacked a bit of flavor. There was also a spring roll which was just very greasy. It also came with egg drop or sweet and sour soup. I'm not a fan of either so I skipped it. All in all, great value and good but not amazing food.

5 Stars - Authentic Szechuan that absolutely nails the classics…read more During our short trip to Houston, as a custom, we were determined to find real Szechuan food, and luckily we found Hu's Kitchen. The location is a bit unassuming, and parking is definitely tough (the spaces are very shallow), but the second we walked through the doors and smelled the Szechuan peppercorns, I knew we were in exactly the right place. I generally judge a Szechuan restaurant by their 夫妻肺片 (Fuqi Feipian)--which they cleverly name "Mr. and Mrs. Smith" on the menu. They completely nailed it. The beef, tripe, and tendon were incredibly cohesive together, yet you could tell each component was prepared and marinated in a slightly different way to perfectly highlight its specific texture. The chili oil was right on the spot. We went through a massive bowl of rice just eating this dish alone. Honestly, if I weren't feeding a family of four, I could have just ordered that and been perfectly happy. While the Fuqi Feipian proves their skill with dry dishes, the 水煮魚片 (Fish in Szechuan Hot Chili Oil) proves their skill with wet ones. It's another must-order. The execution was flawless--we didn't just finish the tender fish chunks, we ate every last piece of cabbage soaked in that incredible chili broth. For my two daughters who can't handle the heat, we ordered the fried rice, garlic pork ribs with onion, and the 紅燒獅子頭 (Giant Meatball with Cabbage). The giant meatball was spectacular. The kids completely devoured it on their own, but I managed to steal a bite, and it instantly brought back childhood memories of exactly how this dish is supposed to taste. We also had the Dan Dan Noodles, which were great and rounded out the meal perfectly. I loved all of the dishes we tried. Should we ever find ourselves in Houston again, we will absolutely be revisiting this hidden gem.

No complaints here since we were starving from an 8 hour road trip. The Dan Dan Noodles...I had high expectations but sadly this dish fell short. I recommend Hu's Cooking to use a bigger bowl and more sauce because it was difficult to mix the noodles and the sauce wasn't...saucing, unfortunately. I wish there was more flavor in this dish. The Scallion Pancake was super over-fried and oily. See image in my review. The outer parts of the pancake were fried to a crisp and only a small circumference in the center stayed chewy. I know Chinese tends to be oily but this pancake soaked up way too much oil. Half a Peking duck: super great price for so much meat. The difficulty when eating this dish is gnawing the meat off the sharp bones of the duck. Mapo Tofu with white rice: pretty easy staple, no complaints here. Dinner on a Saturday was packed but we got seated quickly and food arrived fast.
