Initially, my wife and I were thinking of doing takeout when we first got there. After weighing in whether the food would be good by the time we got home we changed our mind. Yes, what we ordered matter on the decison. I definitely wanted their rice cake. One of my wife favs is crispy noodles with gravy. For the third dish, we opted for the trio rice plate -- BBQ pork and chicken with rice cake on top of broken rice. The food didn't take long to come out. This was around 5-6 and not many tables as expected this day. Their rice cake was perfect in my opinion. It came out hot and crispy with generous pickled peppers and soy sauce on the side. I would rank as #1 rice cake in Houston. The Crispy noodle dish was pretty solid. It also came out hot with steam from the gravy sauce. It tasted alright, not bland, but a bit more seasoning would be best. The rice plate was alright. I didn't like the broken rice that much. I would rank this as our least favorite of all three dishes. The atmosphere and decor were great. All dishes were plated nicely and appetizing. Service was good as in when we need our server she would be there. I have to commend this place for how well they've responded to the virus. Unlike other places I've been to, they actually skip tables and have paper menus. There's also hand sanitizer available. I can have peace of mind while I eat here. Food wise, everything came out hot and delicious. The beef fried rice was well flavored and tender. I really love this dish as a child and they continue to remind me of why. It's so easy to eat and incredibly fulfilling. You have to try this! The wonton noodle soup was also pretty good. It doesn't have an oily soup base and the wonton isn't just flour. Maybe give this a go when the weather turns cooler. When I came to this restaurant, something felt off about here. First of all, we had this female waiter with an arrogantly cold attitude. Continuing into our dining experience, there is another male waiter who was really quiet to the point I couldn't hear him well. We tried to ask whether this is a Chinese or Vietnamese restaurant because of the menu and how the restaurant is set up, but the answer was quite odd. Our waiter said that it's most likely a Chinese restaurant. Based on the menu, it didn't seem that was correct. It seemed to be more of a Vietnamese restaurant based on the look of the menu. It was a very confusing and disappointing experience to say the least. The meats inside of the noodles were just plain. The wonton itself was pretty good! But only because they didn't skimp out on protein. Good presentation .... but nothing special about it. Roasted duck with sticky rice-this is probably my favorite dish here. I like how they did the sticky rice! It was nicely executed along with the chicken. The only disappointment I had was with the sauce they had. Typically that sauce is a little more on the thick side and this was more on the liquid runny side. Look at what Katy Asiantown has!!! We have our very own TanTan version in Katy! The food is remarkably flavorful and what did I order? Everything!! The food here is so good. Went here with my mom and sister and received horrible service, the server brought out the food all at different times. My mothers came out first and then 15 minutes later my sisters came out then another 15 minutes later mine came out, my mom enjoyed her seafood soup, but as for me and my sister meal... we could barely down it, we had barely touched the food. When we asked for the check we asked for a discount or for the food to be removed off the check and all the manager did was gives us a 10% discount which took $5 dollars off the bill. I'm so glad a place like this exists in Katy now. I used to have to drive down to Bellaire Chinatown to get this kind of food. Been here multiple times since opening. They have really good egg noodles with wonton, especially in the colder weathers, it hits the right spots. I've also had their Mi Viet Tiem which is an egg noodle with duck broth and pieces of duck, which is a good alternative to the wonton noodle soup if you dont want wonton. I also reccomend of you're not looking for anything soupy, get the Xoi Ga Chien (Fried sticky rice with rotisserie chicken). They give you like half a cornish hen along with some crispy fried sticky rice and it is amazing. Service and staff were all very attentive. We use to love coming here. We always order the same few dishes as we stick to what we know is good. But this last time we went in, my fiancé ordered a dish he thought was one his mom makes. The server said "it was a whole fish" and we thought it would be 1 large fish. When the order came it had tons of small fried fish and we were really confused as we genuinely thought it was only going to be 1 fried fish. We gave it a try since we ordered it, and it was not to our liking. We asked the server to send it back as we didn't want the dish. The manager came to our table and asked what happened. She asked, "did the server not tell you it was a whole fish?" We informed her he did, but we were unaware that it was MULTIPLE fried fish and did not want the dish. She then proceeded to get an attitude and ask if we wanted it boxed up. Seriously? Why would we want to take food home that we just expressed to you we do not like in the first place. She then rolled her eyes and walked away. She then charged us full price for the meal even though we didn't even eat the fish dish. This place is a perfect spot for lunch in Katy Asia Town! Great service and delicious food! I love the rice cake appetizer so much! It's a must-try if you check it out. All of the soups look incredible! I got the spicy shrimp soup and it was super citrusy and flavorful. Next on my list is to try the pho, as it smelled incredible!! The broken rice dishes are another one of my favorites, because of the soft texture of the rice. All the charbroiled meats are incredibly flavorful as well. I definitely will have more of that . Not too heavy on the soy souce as some place and the noodles are thin, which I prefer. Be aware that portion is BIG, it easily feed 2 or 3 people. The fermented fish fried rice is abundant and you can taste the salted fish on each bite. Love it. They don't skimp on ingredients. CONS: One less star is due to the staff not checking the food before they sent to your table. The last 3 times I went, I requested No beansprouts and I got them on all 3 visits. I understand if they are busy but on 1 of the visits, it was during their non-peak hours. Also I requested chicken and all 3 orders (on the 3 visits) had beef instead. Doh'! read more

I usually eat here and it's good. HOWEVER, today my husband ordered wonton noodle soup, banh bot chien and rice and pork chop. The wonton soup comes with pieces of bbq pork. In my bowl I found a small bone which looked like a rib cage/spine of some small animal. As far as I know there are no micro pigs. I don't know what animal that was and I don't think I want to know. It was marinaded one the same sauce as the bbq pork. I attached pics of it. It totally grossed me out so much that I couldn't finish my food. I liked the variety they offered, not just vermicelli and pho my friend, they have many yummy dishes! The sauce is just the right amount of spicy, though probably not for kids. Hubby got the roasted chicken and sticky rice, the sticky rice is fried and lightly sweet. It's worth trying! I got the kids and myself the trio grill with broken rice, the trio came with chicken, pork and egg cake, and the rice was delicious with a light layer of fish sauce. My mom got the vermicelli with chicken and loved it, can't go wrong with that one. I remember the line being long when they first opened so we didn't come. But when we went for lunch today we got in right away, no wait at all! As much as I love boba teas, Katy Asian Town needs more restaurants, we have enough boba tea bars! Finally tried this place! Not bad...not bad at all. We got the Banh Bot Chien and it was tasty. Nice crisp. The Char Siu Wonton Noodle Soup was delicious. The meat is cut smaller than what I'm used to but the flavor of the broth was good. It was packed with garnishes and the wontons were nice and plump. The Steak Tips with Macaroni was also nicely flavored. The steak tips were cut pretty large and cooked a nice medium rare. Pretty good portion size with veggies. Finally, the Beef Pho. I probably wouldn't order it again because it's a pretty basic pho. They only offer 2 meats, eye round or meat ball. The broth was okay, it was a little too sweet to me.
