So I would have given this 5 stars, but the service is the absolute worse!!!! Go there for the food and expect to wait... on everything! I have to say the rice by far is the best Puerto Rican rice I've had at a restaurant. The lechón has never been dry and they are very generous on their portions. The Jibaritos are so fresh, the plantains don't taste as if they've been refried one too many times, they give you a generous amount of meat! And if you like heat ask for their pique... it will not disappoint! Don't go hungry because there is always a line to be seated and rightfully so because it is that good! read more

The food is good. My only issue was I placed my order online it was so I can just go and get it and get out. I received A notification that my food was ready for pick up. I get there and they couldn't find my order, I had to wait another hour to get my food even though I placed it online and it said that it was ready for pick up. read more

Let me start off by saying this place has good food!!! I'm giving them 2 stars because every time I've gone the wait was ridiculous! The first time I put in an order to go it took almost an hr and the second time I called in an order, they told me what time to arrive to pick it up and I still ended up waiting an additional 40 minutes. If the food wasn't so good I would've left. Not to mention the employees always have an attitude for some reason. They're rude and not apologetic about the wait at all. read more

ANSWER THE PHONE!!!! So annoying, trying to call in an order and they rarely, I mean rarely answer the phone. I'm trying to call an order in on a Wednesday afternoon at 330p, to try and avoid a long wait. But guess what no answer. Ate there 2x for dine in...food was ok. But 2 bad experiences with pick up. First girl at the register was face timing her i guess BF...she had the phone on the counter while she was running around and I can see him on her phone picking his nose or some shit...idk..so that gave me the impression they are not focusing on getting shit done properly. ...Then got home to find out they either gave me the wrong order or just through some shit in the bag and didn't think I was coming back....obviously if I'm paying 30$ for 2 jibaritos 2 pastelios and an order of maduros...yes im coming back to get my food. As delicious as their food can be it doesn't seem like they can make their food to a customer's order. How hard is it to get a steak jibarito without garlic, mayo and cheese? Well I got my jibarito without the Mayo and the garlic. The cheese well it's on my sandwich. Then you try and call to let them know they messed up your order and no one answers it's like they already know they messed up your order... I blame either the person who took my order or the cook... Had the Jibarito with shrimp, sorullo and jugo (juice) de parcha (passion fruit). Extremely well flavored and delicious. Service was good. Recommend the restaurant figure out a designated waiting area that isn't across people who are eating. Makes for an awkward dining experience. Maybe more bar seating? Ordered through the website. It defaulted to post mates. We picked up the order and we were missing food. I live out of Chicago called the establishment and asked for a refund and got hung up on called back, spoke to the manager and was told I would be refunded for the missing items and never ever received the refund. Contacted Postmates and was told that I needed to contact the establishment and told them I already did and was told their hands are tied the business had to refund my money. Listen I've been here several times and I love Puerto Rican food and the food is great here but the service it's messed up and needs tinkering to serve customers in order. My case in point, I ordered online a carryout order at 4: 30pm, I showed up to pick up 30 minutes later at 5:00 p.m. It was packed inside with people waiting to pick up orders. In front of me were three guys who wanted to be seated so they sat down I got to the register maybe 5 minutes later and after talking to two different cashiers they told me my order wasn't going to be ready yet that the ETA on the online order was between 5:30 and 5:50 p.m. I saw that and said okay fine I'll wait meanwhile those guys in front of me were seated. I come back at 5:30 and those guys who had just been seated had already been served their dinner how is it that my food wasn't ready yet? When I ordered it an hour before? This is what I'm talking about I can't stand restaurants who can't get their order system correct because people have to wait when they pay ahead of time but people who just come in and sit down get seated and served and don't pay a dollar yet how does that make any sense? I know he burritos on Harlem makes a lot of money They should be able to figure this out They should be able to serve and have orders ready according to timestamp and if specially if the customers have paid ahead! I order ed one salad seafood and one hibachito and two desserts that were already made! And it took over an hour to get that food? That is the definition of bad service I'm not even home yet and I'm making this review I hope my food is hot regardless I will not be ordering for carry out again because if they're going to make me wait while they take orders see people and serve others who come after me Well that's just nonsense and undeserving of my patronage. If this place was like their twin on Kimball where you order food like a steak dinner that's freshly made it would be wonderful. I could go into the Kimball store and the Jibarito's they serve and steak dinners they serve you could tell that the food and the steaks dinners has not been pre-cooked... however the Harlem Resturant is not cutting it... I been there a few times and I know the food I ordered was not freshly made... I hate eating food that had been sitting around for a couple hours... it's dry and tasteless... My husband and I just left this place completely disappointed with the lack of customer service here. Since today is small business Saturday we thought hey let's give this place a try. TERRIBLE! We walk in and literally stand in different spots hoping to get noticed by someone. We tried to get someone's attention, fail! There were people walking around and at the register not one person acknowledged us. Finally after standing at the counter for about 5 minutes not to mention like 10 minutes before. She tells me the kitchen is closing in 15 minutes and they are no longer seating people. Fine. But couldn't someone have said that when we walked in and we're just standing around wasting time. A local Jibarito place is what this area needed; I love the convenience! Ordered food from here twice, once dining in and the other taking out. I wouldn't recommend dining in because of some hesitancy with the staff on our order, but the staff was really friendly, nonetheless. Their jibaritos are delicious, flavorful, and reasonably priced! First, let me start by saying the I'm Puerto Rican and I have an idea of what good Puerto Rican good taste like. So the food here was good but just good. our food was cold but had an ok taste. The wait was extremely long(55min) but I knew they tried their best to make sure we were ok. There was a rude older lady at the cashier, not sure why she was mad but she just did not want to be there or to answer any questions I had... But in all the food was ok(but cold), the service was ok(but the waitress really genuinely cared). For the area its good, it can be a great place to eat. If they fix a few things here and there soon and they will great if not.......it might go down as another missed restaurant on Harlem Ave. read more

I had a Puerto Rican pastele which is like a Mexican tamale, except the masa is made with plantain instead of corn. The flavors were so authentic and the texture silky smooth, delicious! I came on a Sunday morning around 11 am, the place wasn't busy at all. I ordered steak jibarito and puerto rican rice and both were delicious. Portion is big and everything is well- made. The plantain is crunchy but not dry. The beef is flavorful. Don't forget to ask for extra garlic on the side. For $9, can't go wrong. The sole reason for them not getting five stars was that they seemed ill prepared to deal with the insanity of recently opening as it took us over an hour to get our two jibaritos. Waitress came by, I wanted to order the fried fish but said it'll take like 30 mins, so I ended up getting a steak sandwich.
