Hello All, I went here last Sunday evening 3/23/25 and had my favorite Oxi Tail Stew around 6pm within two hours of getting home I was vomiting. I wasn't sick prior to eatting here and so I am wondering if anyone else as experienced this? I love this dish and although it tasted fine, I have to wonder with me only eatting that this day it had to have been this stew. Anyone out there have any issues? Well I heard about their Cuban sandwiches and wanted to try it this is the first time I walked into a restaurant where not too many people are there servers no English despite them being Spanish speaking and can't translate in regards to the service. So far food was good they gave me these sweet potato potato chips. Ambience history traditional typical Cuban with the flags and that Cuban Latino music. Some of the food was expensive I just wanted the sandwich I wanted to have the soup but it seems like I couldn't understand the waitress thus the three stars and for what I understood they were trying to get me to have a combination which I didn't hear for and was somewhat on a budget. So farther tamales are savory and big for $5.50 at the Cubano sandwich which was pretty decent other than that that was my dinner. The manager was so sweet to my mom and grandma, which they really appreciated, as we are going through some tough times. Went today. Sorry but ever since new management it is not the same anymore. I still think my lechón empanada was all chicken. Black rice was not tasty at all. $11 for my soup with an inch of chicken piece was tasty but not worth the amount. Coffee was fantastic though. read more

My family and I love to try new restaurants out, and this one being so close to us, we decided to give it a try. Definitely a good restaurant, can always be treated with a smile, and very Cuban music playing over the speakers. Their is always a daily special, that is paired up with a drink that is half off (usually it is their mojito) the food is great, and they also have an awesome selection of Cuban dishes to choose from as well as sandwiches for those picky eaters. *pre covid review* This lovely Cuban Cafe was right around the corner from our Airbnb last summer and we decided to check it out. I ordered bistec encebollado with a café con leche and my BF ordered Pan con Tortilla de Jamon y Queso. We were in heaven when our food arrived. Everything smelled and looked amazing. We dug in and we knew we had discovered something dangerously delicious. My steak was cooked perfectly and the rice that came in the side was to die for. The fries on the side were also pretty tasty on their own. My BF was silent as he ate and I knew that meant he was too busy enjoying his food to tell me how good it was. A definite highlight for me though was the cafe con leche. It was rich, sweet, creamy and hot and just felt like the perfect drink to start my morning. Although we arrived late before closing Angelica patiently answered our questions, help us with a few picks and pleasantly placed our order. So first time back since new owners took over and unfortunately I'm not impressed. Ordered steak sandwich with avocado and Swiss cheese and an order of croquettas with dipping sauce. FANTASTIC SERVICE, FREE COFFEE FROM A PERFECT STRANGER I returned to this particular Cuban restaurant because I really enjoyed their vegetable omelette on Cuban bread. I was craving the same breakfast sandwich I enjoyed on Saturday morning. It's a huge sandwich ("regular" size). Regardless of what size coffee you get here it is the same price ($3.95). A kind lady, and a perfect stranger, told the young lady at the counter to give me a cup of coffee. I heard the woman order coffee, but I had no idea she was ordering the coffee for me. What a kind and thoughtful gesture! The total cost of my breakfast sandwich and pastelito de guayaba was $8 and change. I thanked the lady for treating me to a cup of coffee. I was overwhelmed by her kindness and thoughtful gesture. I said, "There are kind people in this world. Thank you so much!" I took everything home with me because I needed to get started on work. I work from home and set my own hours. One of the perks of working from home is I can stop anytime for a break (it could be breakfast or lunch). I found another great restaurant on Yelp. Señor Pan is rated 4 1/2 stars w/1$ sign. We went Sunday night around 7 pm and the restaurant was packed. There are 2 locations. The location we went to @ 4615 W Fullerton Ave. They have a large menu with very reasonable prices & the food we had was very good. I had the Masitas de Puerco Fritas. This is Deep-fried pork chunks were very tasty, but a little dry w/red onions, yellow rice was very good as were the plantains all for $10.95. We also ordered Ropa Vieja shredded beef in tomato creole sauce & The Choice beef Churrasco Cubano was very good. Good food, good service and huge portions (I have lunch tomorrow). Been coming here for many years. The food was great but my main reason for coming was for the guava and cheese pastelillos. I would order several dozen at a time too. They were amazing! However, with COVID and what not, I had not been until recently. A few days ago I stopped in and ordered a few. I will not lie when I say that I was extremely disappointed. It was all dough and practically no filling. It is such a thin layer that it's dried out from them being baked. Nothing oozes out like before.
