Very disappointing experience. This was my first visit although my dinner companion had previously dined here and suggested this for my birthday celebration. When we arrived at the valet I asked where the handicap parking was. Response, "We don't have any. Park at the bank." When I mentioned it was against the law not to have handicap parking, the 2 young men just shrugged. I like parking my own car. My previous experience with other establishments is the valet directs me to self park not far from the entrance.
The hostesses were very nice when we arrived, showed us to our table in the courtyard and were promptly greeted by the serve staff. Everything went smoothly ... order was taken.. bread was individually delivered to the table... water was constantly refilled.. beverages, etc. Soup and salad... served -- soup was excellent, salad a bit dry (more dressing would have been great except no one every came by the table to see if we needed anything at that time). While awaiting for the entree I kept looking to catch the attention of the server to get another piece of bread. After a short time that was accomplished. Entree arrived -- salmon was excellent as was the chicken dish. Once again, tried to get the attention of the server for bread (yes, I probably should not fill up on that fabulous bread BUT it was my birthday!). After a short time --- bread! As we were dining, I noticed the table off to my left with several couple and children (men and women). Sad to say, the servers were there every few minutes offering bread! Not sure how they missed us.
To her credit, the waitress did come over a few times (not when we needed her) to check on how we were doing. At the end of the meal, waitress asked if I wanted to order a birthday dessert, nothing to my liking although my partner order the zabaione (which she enjoyed) and the waitress made the nice gesture of putting a candle on the side of the plate and in a low voice, singing Happy Birthday. The gesture was nice. When the check arrived (dessert was charged) my dining companion put her credit card with the folder and the waitress took it away. Folder was returned ... without the credit card. It took approximately 10 minutes for us to get the attention of the waitress (who was chatting with the gentleman a few tables away). She had a look of disbelief when we pointed out that the credit card was missing. Looked in the black folder, left the table and returned a few minutes later exclaiming, "I am so sorry, I put it in the wrong folder." Needless to say, not a great practice with all the things we hear about credit card fraud!
As we left and passed by the hostess counter, the two women were engaged in their own conversation and never did the cursory "Have a good evening, thank you for coming." or whatever you train them to say (yes, I hope you train them to say something!)
To end the evening, as we walked out into the valet area, one of your valets was ogling over a Rolls Royce that was parked at the entrance and made some comment to the gentleman that was awaiting his card that was a bit disrespectful -- something like "it must be nice".
To sum it up--- the atmosphere and the food were fabulous. The service was less than desirable and I am writing this because I feel your staff needs to be appraised that women who dine without the company of gentleman are also affluent enough to provide generous gratuities (when they are provided the service that warrants it!) and they should be tended to with the same attention that all parties in the restaurant are. read more
