Welcoming environment, very friendly staff! We got a few things from the menu and they were all pretty good. I would recommend this place to anyone who wants to discover a new restaurant. Food overall is a solid 7.5 My favorite was probably the buttermilk chicken! I got the appetizer portion but they do have an entree option. Wasn't a big fan of the bread they serve, cheese was a little too stinky for my liking & the bread itself was pretty hard.

I'll be honest. I could have eaten anything in Santa Barbara. I hadn't eaten anything since 9am and it was 5pm when I arrived in Santa Barbara. I walked one mile away because of the great things I heard about Jill's Place. And you know what? I was not disappointed! I was stoked and impressed greatly I had two wonderful, dazzling, and sweet waitresses (lucky me!). I was served a yummy chicken breast sandwich and it was the best one I had ever! No seriously! It wasn't too salty and the bread was golden brown and ready to be munched on. The tator tots had the perfect texture. It's almost as I had food from some amazing restaurant, which, hello, I did The place was packed, since it was Fiesta, but I imagine it always is. It sucks I live 45 minutes from this great establishment. The atmosphere was fun and a little country, but I love that. It's casual, and not some elegant place like Lucky's is. I'd still show up in a suit, if I could and would. Definitely check this place out and ask for the two blonde sisters who work there. They'll dazzle you with their charm and diction Hope to be back again one day!

The filet mignon was a bit salty. I have been here multiple times and this time it was the saltiest I have ever eaten.

Came here for dinner before the comedy show at the Lobero Theater, just in time for happy hour. Very good appetizers and drinks. Our waiter was very nice and friendly and attended us right away. Would definitely recommend if you're in town and want to dine somewhere that is not on state street.

    Potato Skins Lunch

We went for happy hour on a Friday night, was suggested to us by a very nice local. Server told us to sit down by a mirror, when we were about to sit, he told us to sit somewhere else. It was quite cold inside, so we opted to sit outside, so we could at least sit in the sun. Ordered multiple items off of the happy hour menu. Steak bites, fried chicken and mash, tater tots, Brussel sprouts and the potato skins. Happy hour prices are only $1 or $2 less than the regular menu price. So...do with that info what you will. The food came out really fast. Under 10 minutes, that's for sure. Everything was really good. I really liked the Brussels, and the potato skins. The steak bites were good. I will say; there is a dill something going on in the chicken. I'm not a huge fan of dill, so that's a me thing. Overall a good dinner. I just wouldn't necessarily call the happy hour menu a happy hour menu, just the apps on another piece of paper lol

On this #ThankYou Thursday my gratitude goes to Jill's Place and the hardworking staff here. I can always count on Karch to hook me up with the JP margarita, and the food is always delicious. Lately, it's the mini sliders and garlic fries that I've been ordering. They are the perfect bite sized burgers offered on their happy hour menu. This happens to be my top favorite place in town for happy hour! I came here on a Wednesday night for a gathering to send off one of our fellow coworkers who got a new job. We had a very large party, and luckily there was plenty of room to seat all of us. Normally reservations are recommended for a large party, but since it was slower during the weekday we got lucky! The staff kindly took our orders and everyone enjoyed themselves. I especially appreciated how we were able to get our own tab. It can get complicated with big parties, so that was a plus! Happy Hour time has changed from 4-6pm and prices have increased a little, but still very reasonable compared to other places in town. I am thankful for the wonderful service each time I come here, and they can count on me to be a loyal customer. Thank you Jill and staff!

Beautiful flowers included daily!! Oh did I mention the food. I'm a loyal guest. I recommend this place all the time!

Best food ever! Nicole is fantastic. I just came here two days in a row... I come here all the time! Where can you eat and smell fresh flowers in a western themed place, WOW

    Perfect lemon drop.

We have been to Jill's many other times and it's always delicious . Service and ambiance is perfect .

She decided she wanted to go to a steakhouse so we asked a bartender at a local bar what his recommendation would be and he mentioned Rare Society. Although I'd never been to Rare Society before, it wasn't the first time I'd heard the name. We actually have a couple of them down here in San Diego and though I've never been there, had heard good things about it. We made a reservation for that evening but the only thing available was on the patio. We arrived about 15 minutes prior to our reservation and the weather already began to cool off. As we walked towards the door we were greeted by the hostesses who also saw that it was my wife's birthday and they wished her happy birthday. We acknowledged that our reservation was on the patio but asked if it was possible to move to inside and they were quickly accommodating to this request. There was no wait even though we were a little early and we were led inside to a corner L-shaped booth. As we were reviewing the menu we were welcomed in by our server Tara who brought us water, offered us drinks and ran down some of the menu items available. For cocktails to start the evening my wife had a manhattan and I had a Woodford old fashioned. Both cocktails were expertly crafted and tasted great. For our appetizer, we had the hamachi crudo which was finely sliced hamachi with a perfect compliment of toppings including pickled pineapple which brought out the flavor of it all. For our main course, we decided to go with "The Associate" board which was recommended by Tara. It is served with three different cuts of steak, bone marrow, and three sauces. All of the cuts were prepared perfectly and the sauces and bone marrow were the perfect compliment. For sides we got broccolini with a creamy lemon sauce, miso glazed carrots and creamed spinach. All the sides we tried were great, but the broccolini and miso glazed carrots were definitely our favorite. To wind down the evening, Tara brought us a dessert menu to look over and although we were very full from dinner we did order two carajillos to sip on. Our dessert drinks were brought out quickly along with a perfect portion of ice cream with which I believe also had some sort of cracker inside of it. I don't recall exactly but it tasted great and was enough for us to split. This being our first experience at a Rare Society location was nothing short of stellar. The service from every employee from the time we approached the front door was exceptional, the food was amazing and was the quality that one would expect at the price point and the cocktails we had were top-tier. This was our first time up to Santa Barbara and I'm not sure when we'll be back, but our experience at Rare Society gives me reason to check out the one down by us as well next time we're looking for a perfect steak dinner.

The place was full, including indoor and outdoor seating, great ambience and light level, and lovely string lights above the seating outdoors. To start they bring over a delectable dill popcorn which was a rich, salty, dill and butter creation. Totally set a fun tone for the meal. Then we had the crispy Brussels sprouts (ORDER THESE!!!) they were divine, the sesame and lime combination was reminiscent of a great pad Thai, with the perfect amount of sauce and tiny bites of figs which all worked together in a way I wouldn't have expected. For the mains we had the shrimp toast and the pork ribs, both fantastic both well portioned and both 10/10s. Pork ribs fell off the bone easily and were spicy and tangy without overdoing flavor and the shrimp toast tasted like a great gumbo sauce and the shrimps were big! This is a meal I'll be thinking about and recommending to others for a long time, thank you Lark!

The restaurant was busy. Our server was great. She introduced herself (Giana I believe she said) and helped us understand that the intent of the menu and dining approach is a sharing format. The plates and portion sizes vary depending upon the item. Cocktails: The Lark has a very interesting (in a good way) cocktail menu. Our party tried 5 different cocktails. Everyone loved their drink and commented on how well made they were. Food: The restaurant provides complimentary dill pickle popcorn (10/5) as a snack to get your appetite moving. This unique popcorn flavor was one of the best things I had all night. Everyone in our party agreed. We ordered 40% of the menu. The standouts were the fried chicken (5/5), the duck confit (5/5), and the pork ribs (4/5). Dessert: The chocolate pot-a-crème with banana cream (5/5) and donut holes (5/5) were both very tasty. We had a real good experience at the Lark. My only comment as a first timer was gauging how much food to order. We found the menu items in the Farm and Ranch sections were entree sized plates, while the Ocean section plates varied in size considerably. We consequently over ordered and wasted some food. Although our server Giana was helpful, we could have asked more specific questions to assess the quantity of food better. We enjoyed the restaurant vibe, cocktail program and many of the plates. If I lived in SB, I would have dinner here every other month and enjoy the dill pickle popcorn and the fried chicken with their signature Paloma to wash it all down.

We did the Foodie Stroll & Dinner experience, which included a trip to the farmers market with the chef, Vick. When we arrived at the restaurant, our table was ready and beautifully set with rose petals to mark the occasion. The staff was attentive, helpful, and professional--always aware of when we needed something, but never intrusive. My wife ordered the Salade Lyonnaise, Juniper & Rosemary Venison, and Lemon-Berry Upside Down Cake. I had the Forest Mushroom Ragout, Braised Kurobuta Pork Flank, and finished with the Chocolate Molten Lava Cake. Every bite was excellent. My wife raved about the venison, and my pork flank was incredibly tender in a rich, flavorful sauce--the meat practically fell apart. Portions were generous; we couldn't finish everything, though we tried. Each course was paired with a different wine, and every pairing was spot-on. One especially thoughtful touch was that they presented us with custom 25th anniversary menus that we created with the chef. The menus highlighted our anniversary and listed the exact dishes we ordered--it was a really nice keepsake and made the evening feel even more special. All of this was done during a packed service, with only four people in the kitchen, which made the experience even more impressive. We'd made reservations and were seated promptly when we arrived. The ambiance was warm and inviting. We noticed that the diners' demographic skewed older, but that was fine with us--it made for a relaxing time. We started things off with some cocktails: I got the Opal martini (gin and vodka, with Gorgonzola stuffed Olive--very good) and the hubby got the house old fashioned (not too sweet, also very good). They brought out a small complimentary bread basket, which had two different kinds of excellent bread. Carb avoidance be damned! We ordered the following: - warm seafood salad (lots of fresh seafood--great) - butter lettuce salad with Gorgonzola (so simple and so delicious) - mushroom risotto (delicious! Cheesy with bits of walnuts and asparagus as well as the shrooms) We thought the prices were reasonable prices for the quality, and the service was excellent. No vermouth. Very weird and sounds kinda gross, so I requested a classic vodka martini instead with vermouth and the olive. They bring out just a glass of chilled vodka, no vermouth, and a cheese olive. I check the bill: $12 MARTINI -$5 UP (upgrade?!? Are you joking? It's a SWAP!) -$1 CHEESE OLIVE (ARE YOU SERIOUS?!?) So they charged me $18 to turn their decapitated martini made with UCSB student-budget vodka into a regular martini, and then charged me extra for the already included olive because I had the gall to change the drink! The waitress didn't even bother mentioning how I barely touched the drink, which our usual Opal servers would have 100% caught onto. Younger girl with black hair and very nonchalant, dismissive attitude. Atmosphere looked nice but between the fire alarm going off from someone burning something in the kitchen, table of 6 behind us that had cackling harpy laughs (not unusual for Opal), and the blasting music, you can't even have a decent conversation at dinner. I'm pretty over this place and will not recommend it anymore. We often go to Happy Hour where we often get pop rock shrimp and shrimp tacos but on our last visit the shrimp was not the usual. They seemed to be over cooked and not as tasty. We realize this can be an off day so we did try again last week; taking our granddaughters to dinner. Unfortunately again the quality and service was not our usual experience. The pop rock shrimp was again not as tasty and service started out great but quickly deteriorated. Our server forgot our bread after stating twice he would bring some. Everyone around us arriving after us had been given bread and we had not received ours yet. I had to get up and hunt the server down. Our meals did come timely minus the bread, but afterwards service dwindled. They did come back eventually and the granddaughters decided they would like dessert. We ended up waiting around 20 minutes for the dessert and apparently it had been sitting for a while as the ice cream and whipped cream was quite melted. My husband asked to talk with the manager and although he apologized he seemed very uninterested in hearing about our experience. He said sorry and left. Our dinner from beginning to end took from around 6:30 pm to end of dessert almost 9:00 pm This was only due to having lots of wait time for service. Not the best experience.
