I have to say hands down i got the best bang for my $ and the most genuine experience with them. I was greeted with a smile right away by the front office girl. She took my cars info and put her mechanics to the task right away. She also spoke highly of her shop mechanics. After sitting in the waiting room where I was greeted by the owner I recieved the update I thought might be taking place. My transmission was failing. I set up a time to have it repaired and got my car back within that week. I will always take my vehicles here. They came highly reccomended by friends and I would highly reccomend them to anyone . My last experience with them I was told that I was a Jim Dandy family member bring my car back with any issues and they would check it out. Terrible! Jackass had my truck for over a month. Took it in for a grinding noise, I figured it was probably my transfer case. These dip shits swore up and down the transfer case was fine. The FIRST time I picked my truck up from them it was still making the noise, so I took it back to them. A week later he told me it was done and that he had test drove it and it was fine. While I was leaving I started hearing the noise again. So I took it to a different shop. The mechanic pulled the plug on the transfer case and metal came pouring out along with some oil that obviously wasn't changed. These guys charged me $6,500 and didn't fix shit. They rebuilt the transmission on my 1992 ford f-250 it took them 3 times to get it right each time I picked up my truck something did not work first time the transmission would not down shift the second time it would slam into gear going around corner from stop the 3rd time it would not shift now 21 months later it will not move my truck the rebuilt transmission lasted 9771 miles went down to store was told manger would call still waiting 11:40 5-15-17 cost so far 2850.00$ UPDATE Rodger sent a tow truck to get my truck and repaired the transmission in TWO days at NO CHARGE picked up truck at 3:00 pm today and it shifts better than it ever did THANK YOU Rodger !!!!! read more

Excellent service, friendly and honest. They got me right in same day and did a test drive and inspection when I thought my transmission was having issues. Turns out the issue was more of a break in issue and totally normal. Roger spent about a total of 35 minutes with me and they did the inspection and test drive for no charge. They could have done what many shops do: take your vehicle, charge you a $75 or $85 to troubleshooting your vehicle and tell you they will deduct it if you have work done. But they didn't. If you want to get ripped off, then take your car here. On October 2012, my 98 Ford Ranger was dropping some gears , so I had it check by Jim Dandy Transmission in Vacaville . Tim, the counter person told me, after having the truck for a whole afternoon, that I needed a new defferential and that it would cost me $1450 to install a new one. I negotiaited to only have it install, and I was to supply the defferential. Well After they installed the defferential the problem continued. In the end, Tim stated that since I had provided the part there was nothing they could do, since I had provided the part. Although, I hav been told it was the defferential, when indeed the problem was in the Transmission in the first place. In the end, I ended up putting a new transmission, and got robbed $ 680. for a work I did not needed. read more

These guys are incompetent. They held my car for weeks. Would not call me to let me know what is going in. I had to call. Got the run-around. Was lied to. I demanded my car back. On a road trip to the sierra's we got a check engine light flashing... the local dealerships and big name auto shops wanted us to "take a number" and leave the car all day. We had no idea if this was a minor glitch or major problem. Jim Dandy Transmission quickly connected the device to find the computer code, got us underway in just a few minutes and then wouldn't even take the diagnostic fee. Jim Dandy Transmission in Vacaville gets an F in my book. They worked on our transmission. Drove it home after they had it for 3 days. Tranny fluid leaked ALL over the street when we got home. They guarantee their work so we called them. They said they didn't have a tow truck or any way to get the car back to Vacaville. They basically said tough luck. Luckily, we have AAA and got it towed for free. They had the car for 2 days and not once apologized for crappy work or the major inconvenience. Picked up the car, they said they had to replace the gasket. As we got in the car to drive home, spanish radio was on. The whole point of a test drive is to listen for anything out of the ordinary. It is not supposed to be a joy ride. They also left grease and oil from the ROOF of the car (how did that happen?) to the hood and under the hood as well as the front windshield. A spill of something that should have been washed, not rubbed because it smeared all over. So, the car had just been washed, and we got it back way dirtier than when we dropped it off TWICE. I think a call from the owner or manager would have made a big difference but there was no call, no "hey, sorry about your experience." read more

A good place for replacing your transmission fluid and no leaks.

I took my car to in for transmission repair. I got a 1993 Buick model rebuilt tranny for over $3,200 (overcharged)and it was having major problems! I took it back over 4 times with in a year because it was still slipping, jumping and just not changing gears properly. They just could not get it right of the life of them, after the four time I took it back for a fifth time and they said the warranty was finished and refused to fix it again . So I ended us taking it to a completely different shop and spent $880 just to get it running right. Granted their customers service was good, I'm just not sure about the quality of their work. I recommend do not use their services without doing a extensive search for other transmission shops. I later found out that if I had shopped around a little better I could have received a rebuild tranny for about $1,000 less that I spent. I wont make that mistake again. I hope this will help someone save some money and time. read more

Very dishonest business!! Switched a perfectly working transfer case for one that was bad and leaked. My truck did not leak prior to taking it to them even with the transmission blown. After I got it back from them it spewed transmission fluid all over my driveway. When I brought it back for them to fix it they told me it was already like that before I brought it to them the first time. read more

I would never recommend this place to know one. when I took my car here just to get it looked at for transmission slippage they ended up having my car for five months ended up talking me into replacing the whole transmission for a large lump sum of money since I got my car back I had to take it back to the shop five times because it wasn't fixed right the first time. poor customer service they don't respect your vehicle there was oil all over my car oil all over the motor oil all over the transmission handprints all over the interior handprints all over the body of the car poor customer service overall a bad bad experience. Stay away from this place. I paid $2960.00 for transmission repair and six days later the transmission failed again. Repair shop in Napa reported that the transmission had been replaced by one that was not a Ford transmission and bolts were missing. New owner had the mongrel transmission replaced by Napa Valley Transmission for $ 3377.00.Lesson learned is that I should have done more research. The shop is a dark, dirty hole which should have been an important clue. Unfortunately the people running Jim Dandy are underhanded crooks! read more

I have used this shop exclusively for years and think the service is great, my husband can send me down there and they can explain things to me. I think they care about my safety very much. I paid $45 for a diagnostic test at Jim Dandy. I was told I needed a "soft re-build" of my transmission, totaling $1,800, if not more. I took my vehicle to Vacaville Transmission for a FREE diagnostic. Randall was very helpful in explaining exactly what I needed. The part was less than $60, with about an hour of labor!!! I can't believe how they think they "fixed" my car. I can't believe they are operating at all with the shady business they do. .... We brought in our car for some major help since it stalled and were referred to a transmission place (since it sounded like a transmission issue)... Well three weeks in Jim Dandy's shop and it was never fixed. They basically stole 600 dollars from us. We literally paid them off to not deal with them anymore... They told us the issue was the computer and mount (to help decrease vibration) needing to be replaced. Fair enough. So we waited. The business they deal with sent them the wrong computer - there went week 1. Then we had to wait for the new computer - there went week 2. Once they got the part we took it for a test drive and during which the car stalled. They told us the issue seemed to be a low idol in which they do not deal with (no engine work)... My question is HOW DID YOU NOT NOTICE A LOW IDOL TO BEGIN WITH WHEN THEY DIAGNOSED IT? Also, the owner was trying to convince us to take it home that day! Oh it just needs some miles... yadda yadda, the computer needs to adjust. When I said I would never drive this as it is, the owner looks at my husband as if to say, "well, you're the man, you decide.." and literally said, "don't look at her, look at me!" Super chauvinistic. Poor business dealings. And trying to brown nose and giggle his way out of having to work on our car anymore... Basically we were taken for a ride. Basically scammed. If you DON'T want your car fixed go to Jim Dandy's.... We had to take it to another shop where they gave us a list of issues. Needless to say this car is going bye bye. If Jim Dandy's had done a proper diagnosis and not just thrown a computer in there as a "solution" it could have saved us 600 dollars, headaches, and three weeks. The transmission went out on my '02 Ford Taurus, Jim Dandy transmission rebuilt it and it worked great for about a year. Then it started making horrible noises every time I turned a corner. I was so upset because I was getting ready to go on a family vacation in that car, and my warranty on the transmission had expired. I thought I was going to have to cancel my vacation. I gimped the car back to Jim Dandy transmission knowing that I'd have to cancel my family's vacation. A couple days went by and I feared the worst. I finally got a call from Roger, the owner, he said he had racked his brain and couldn't figure out why it was making noises when I turned corners. My stomach fell, I knew it was gonna be expensive. Then he said that he remembered that my particular transmission has a pin in it that stabilized it, or something like that. He put the pin in and the transmission was fine and I could come pick it up. NO CHARGE! I was so happy I could have kissed him. Roger is very knowledgeable when it comes to transmissions. Do not go here to get your transmission serviced! I know how to work on vehicles and I have my entire life, but I am currently in the process of moving. Therefore, I thought I would save myself some time by letting a shop do a transmission service. I took before pictures of my transmission pan. While I was in the waiting room the female at the counter told me that there is great news. The technician had dropped my pan and there was no metal shavings at the bottom of the pan and everything looked great. Finally she gave me my keys and said my truck is all done. I paid my $160 for my truck to get serviced and I received a phone call so I had to hurry up and leave or else I would've looked at the transmission pan there. Once I got to my house I noticed that my transmission pan was wiped clean, but the hard to reach places was still dirty. Then I noticed that my bolts had no fresh metal showing, meaning that they didn't drop my pan. Then I compared my before pictures and realized that my gasket had the same exact cracks as before in the same spots. They lied to me and on my receipt it states that they dropped the pan, changed filter and the gasket and replaced oil. So I called them and told them that I have before and after pictures and I want a full refund. They admitted to not doing to full service. I dropped my pan myself two days later and the pan was not clean and was not serviced, it actually had metal shavings on the magnets/gunk. Please save your time and money and do not go here, especially if you don't know much about vehicles because they will screw you over. read more
