If there was an option for ZERO stars Jim Dandy Transmission would receive it. They are SCAMMERS. THEY TAKE YOUR MONEY AND COMPLETE ABSOLUTELY ZERO WORK!!! CONSUMERS BEWARE!!!! My husband brought in his truck to replace a sensor and wiring harness. We came and picked up the truck after and it was fine for less than two weeks and the check engine light came on again. We had the truck inspected by a master tech from the dealer. NOTHING had been done. They told us the wiring harness was replaced. The truck had the same wiring harness as when we brought it in. Not even touched. Luckily our bill was only around $500. When we called in to tell them this they asked us to bring it in and that they would make it right. I spoke to Roger and Diane at the front desk. Roger said he needed to verify and inspect that himself because he didn't agree. My husband went in and they gave him back his money and said they said they didn't care if we wrote a negative review or about all the others that are blasted all over their pages. I'm reporting this to the better business bureau, the attorney general, and the department of consumer affairs. Yesterday I thought something was wrong with my 2016 Mazda CX3. I thought my bands in my transmission was slipping. He took a quick look and invited me for a 2 o'clock appointment for a deeper diagnostic today. I returned at 2 o'clock. They promptly put my car up on the rack they did a deep diagnostic for $60. I want to give a big shout out to Tim and Tom.. I was out of there in 45 minutes with the good news nothing wrong with my transmission however, I need a new fuel filter and r driver side bearing is making a loud whining noise. I didn't know where it was from. They were very quick and honest, and I felt very secure in my transaction, I would give them a five star and recommend them. read more

Had issues with my car, went to Jim Dandy because my family member trusted them. They claimed a new transmission was needed, so of course I believed them, what do I know? Paid a lot of money for a new transmission, picked the car up, on my way home the same exact issue that was going on originally, happened again. The transmission obviously wasn't the problem. I feel they took advantage of me, a woman, knowing I wouldn't know better than to trust them. My family member had to push them to fix it, since they took a lot of money when it wasn't necessary. They complained and didn't want to do anything to rectify this... The owner? I think, Tim, he was pissed at us, and ended up refusing to talk to my family member about any of it. Someone else in the office ended up working with us to fix the issue, reluctantly. At the end, all that was needed was an alternator. I would have much rather paid for that, than the months of fighting with this vendor and paying for a whole unnecessary transmission. I would think twice before using this vendor and be absolutely sure of what you actually need, before you go to them. I had my oil changed on the weekend at a local shop and the tech told me that I had a transmission leak so I emailed the Jim Dandy shop for help. At 9 am Monday, Tim called me and told me I could bring the car in right away, so I did. By 12:30 Tim called to let me know that the transmission fluid had been changed and it was not leaking. He told me to drive it a few days and bring it back to make sure it was not leaking. I was really happy about the prompt response and quick service but surprised at how clean my car was when I picked it up. My dashboard was shining clean! What great and friendly service! I took my son's 2005 GMC for electrical issue the TCM Was not communicating with the transmission. This much I knew. Already because of the code that I pulled myself. So I took it there for diagnosis. And I wanted them to fix it I told them That I'm pretty good with vehicles . I'm just not a circuit man. After it was there for 2 weeks. They told me I was too quartz, low on transmission fluid. And that my transmission fluid was burnt and my transmission was slipping. And I needed a new transmission. Mind you, I had just changed the transmission fluid myself 1 week before I took it in there. And it was not slipping prilor to that . they told me $7,000 for a new transmission. They said we needed. So my son and I had the truck towed from there. AND Took it somewhere else. AND In 1 day, we had it fixed and back home . and it only turned out to be a loose fuse. However, they honored the manufacturer warranty and replaced it with a new one at no cost to me. What an experience, $60 bucks for them to tell you something you already know , what a joke I already knew my transmission was broken why else would I have brought it to you . Is had explained that it was broken I wanted to know in detail what was broken and how much it was would cost to fix it . Not a paper that says " $60 for an inspection". SMH I should have read the reviews before going . But the cherry on top they neeeever even looked at it seems like they use the same line for everything . It was obvious all the dirt and grease was in the same place and the nuts were hard nothing was done usually when things are messed with the dirt and oil is moved around and super easy to take apart and 2 whole days but it was located in the saaame spot I had dropped it off .. x-x After I told him "be honest don't lie you guys haven't even touched it he got nervous started, stuttering, dirty conscience gave it away .... When the transmission on my Kia took a dump, I towed it to Jim Dandy. After an initial diagnosis, they took the time to explain to me what the issues were and what it would take to repair (rebuild) it. When the rebuild was finished and test driven, I received it and took it for a drive. It was like driving a new vehicle. a day agoNEW-Edit Delete RUN OR DRIVE AWAY from this place as fast as you can. I have never written a review of anything, but if I can save 1 person from the shoddy workmanship of these guys it is worth my time. I went through most of my 12 month / 12,000 mile warranty trying to make my truck drivable. I rarely drove the truck as I lost all confidence in it after taking it to Jim Dandy. I did finally start driving it, but it leaked transmission fluid. I took it back and it still only had about 7,000 miles on it, but it was close to 3 years.They refused to honor warranty even though the 12 month part of the warranty was spent making it driveable. I also "coincidentally" had my transfer case go out at around 1600 miles after they had drained it while doing the transmission work, due to lack of oil but they never would admit it even though we all knew what happened. I took it to another shop and the leak was due to them "modifying" the pan and using wrong gasket and needing 11 helicoils to be able to properly tighten the pan. A nightmare which I had to contact the Bureau of Automotive repair to resolve. Faking rebuilt transmission. After making my complaints to the Bureau, who knew this business well, and picking up my truck, I went across the street to the Firestone to inspect the car, they found a lag bolt and no nut holding on the lower control arm, I had them replace the booby trapped steering bolt. Ultimately, I had to go to Napa Ford to repair the transmission. All of the syncros were out and the transmission wouldn't shift, the starter was stripped and skipping. A nightmare of vandalism. Please note that I did wee hundreds of positive reviews about this business before I chose them. I doubt the legitimacy of those reviews, if you get my drift. read more

I've been a mechanic for over 30 years now. When all my friends and families have any transmission problems I always recommend Rodger at Jim Dandy transmission. Rodger is extremely knowledgeable when it comes to transmissions and is very thorough with his Diagnostics. Rodger takes the time to explain exactly what is wrong and what the best repair is for your car. Rodger is one of the most likeable and most honest people I have met. I have personally overheard him explain smaller repairs that can be done for much cheaper. When other shops in town would have told you that you need a complete rebuild for 3 or 4 thousand bucks. 12 years ago Rodger rebuilt the transmission on my Dodge Ram 1500 and it is still going strong. I have two 1999 Saturns with Rogers rebuild valve body in their transmissions and they are still running strong. DO NOT GO HERE! I had taken my car here a while back for a clutch and master cylinder repair, and I swear to you my car has never been worse. they offered to do the same work for less expensive, when after 2-3 months, we probably spent about double. I got my car back after 2 weeks, and that same day, it broke down again! the same issue! I had my car towed back, at MY expense, and after(with the warranty) they made me pay for more parts for the car. Lets hit repeat about 5 more times. Literally. Warranty my ass. i was still spending an insane amount of money for no work. The one thing that really topped it off for me, is after 2 months, i had a road trip for a family event planned, and they couldnt get my car finished in time for me to go. but the day after i was supposed to leave, it was ready. I had a horrible experience here. First off, our cruise control worked great before taking it in to Jim Dandy, after getting my car back the cruise control didn't work anymore, and they said they couldn't do anything about it. They took way longer than they said they would, my car was there for 4 weeks. They raised the price several times with no warning the price could go up, even when they said that the reason it went up was a common thing. If it was common couldn't you have warned us before hand there was a likeliness the price would go up more than $1,000 or our car still wouldn't work? They never called us, we always called them asking them for updates, And if you do go here I suggest you double check the warranty about a million times before you sign it. Our warranty was missing part of the work they had done, and we made them re-write it to include everything properly. Part of my wants to believe they are good people just terrible with administration, but I know I was lied to by them and they really need to hire a new administrator asap. read more

Update..... Since supposedly rebuilding my transmission, I've had to return twice for leaks (within 4K miles). Still having a transmission fluid leak, I took the car to different mechanic to have problem resolved. The independent mechanic inspecting the vehicle expressed doubts that the transmission has ever been removed from my car at all! He showed me transmission mounting bolts that appear to have NEVER seen a wrench. I suspect my transmission was never actually in need of rebuild, and was only adjusted / serviced rather than REBUILT.... even though I paid for a rebuild. read more

I went there with my fiancé to have a T5 transmission built and he took over 3 weeks to build it. After we received the transmission back and took it to the mechanic, the mechanic recommended us to take to a different shop to open up. After opening transmission no work was done and the transmission didn't get worked on. Ended up paying another 1000$ to get my transmission fixed. These people are HONEST!!! My 2014 Nissan Pathfinder transmission went out on the 505 (SCARY!) and I ended up getting towed to the only mechanic open on a Sunday which was Firestone, across the street from Jim Dandy's shop. By the codes Firestone realized it was in fact a transmission issue and recommended Jim Dandys shop take over and properly diagnose. I was on a road trip and had a hotel reservation I couldn't cancel, so my friend and I decided to leave my precious Nissan there for diagnosis and go get a rental. Where we were headed was totally out of range and I felt powerless trusting the whole situation till I could get to a phone and call. When I did, Tim at Jim Dandy's gave me the unbelievably awesome news that he looked up my vin and the recalls associated with my model car and found that it was a recall and therefore totally covered! I towed it to Nissan and it will be completely replaced, brand new, free of charge, even my car rental! You have to understand, I am a starving artist/nanny/massage therapist who lives in Marin, on a single woman's income, and was absolutely petrified it was going to be 4-5k. They could have just not told me and made a LOT of money on me, but they didn't. These days, this kind of kindness and honesty are almost non existent in my experience. This has not just been a tremendous relief; but also a huge added benefit and perhaps even more important result of this experience is it has helped me regain my faith in the human race. I hope anyone who actually does need transmission work will come straight to these people with absolute faith that they will not get taken advantage of, my experience absolutely proves that hands-down. We purchased an older truck from a co-worker with low miles and to our surprise after driving it almost 50 miles, the transmission blew out. The car didn't have any transmission fluid when we drove it away. Took it to Dandy's and they did a great job rebuilding the transmission. Finally got around to putting transmission back into the car and we were having problems with shifting the gears. After many bleedings, changing clutch master cylinder, slave cylinder, decided to take it to Dandy's again to have a look at it, see if they could bleed out better before giving up. We knew there was a crack in the firewall but didn't think it was the problem. Tim took one look in two seconds and explained to us the importance of the firewall and how bad the crack really was, told us if we were able to fix the firewall, that should be the solution. It's an old truck, but my resourceful SO engineered a metal plate to stabilize and reinforce the cracked area of the firewall and it worked! Tim was right and now we have no problems shifting. Tim is amazing and very knowledgeable all things transmission. We so appreciate his honesty and recommend Jim Dandy's transmission to everyone, they know their stuff! read more

These guys fixed my Eclipse after it started smoking one day. Apparently the transmission line had a hole in it (i'm not very car knowledgeable, so don't judge me by that). These guys were so nice. They saw to my car the very next day and gave us a call as soon as they knew what was wrong with it. My car was fixed by the end of the day. When I came to pick up my car, they went out of their way to be nice to me. The owner (I assume) showed us the line that was messed up. He let us know that if he can be of assistance to us in the future he will be glad to help (the eclipse was doomed for failure basically). I had let them know I had been burned by a car place in Arkansas that messed up the radiator, and since have had countless issues. The man who checked me out (can't remember his name) was such a nice guy. He said if I have anything wrong with the car, even if a bug hits my windshield (lol) , to bring it back in and they would see to it. They didn't want me to be burned for life by that one car place. Anyway point of the story, they are the nicest guys and don't over charge you. I got a service fee for what I would have gotten back home in Arkansas, which is rare to come across here in the over priced state of california. Good value, timely, awesome people. read more

I took my 2003 Explorer there after a trip to the mountains when the transmission kept shuddering as it tried shift, shaking the whole car. It had actually been doing this for a year occasionally around town, but this was too much. I explained the problem to them, they took all day to examine it and then told me it would cost $1600-2400 to repair depending on what they found when they tore it apart. I was not surprised because it was a 10 year old car with about 121,000 miles on it. Well, $2387 later, I got the car back and it was still chunking hard into 4th gear around town. I took it back and they could find nothing. Needless to say I was not happy at this point. So, I took it back again and this time they replaced something called a "solenoid body". I expected another hefty repair bill, but they told me there was no charge even though I am sure that the part cost them money and it took 2-3 hours of technician time. That was more than fair treatment. It would have been nice to have it work the first time, but they did stick to it and solved the problem and did not charge me for the further work, so they honored their word. I think that is important. Results count more than anything. So, I will be recommending them whenever I get the chance. Vern read more

I went here for some car noises during a busy afternoon last week. An older gentleman greeted me and was eager to help me.We were driving around the block in all but a few minutes. From there he gave me a rough diagnosis, told me there wasn't much wrong with my transmission and then told me some other things to work on in my leisure that would improve vehicle performance. He even topped off my water and fluids and didn't ask for anything in return.I still gave him a bit of a tip for lunch,but I really don't recall the last time I ran into a knowledgeable and honest mechanic. I work the same hours a lot of shops are open which could have made it difficult to get my truck fixed. But Tim and owner Rodger were willing to stay after hours to run diagnostics for me. Brought a car in and spent almost 2500 bucks for a transmission issue. It had a year warranty. Right before the year was up, it started leaking. Car was brought back and they said they fixed it. Unfortunately, it still had a slow leak and a few months later (once the year warranty was up) it started having problems. Handily for them, they now claim that they don't have to fix it EVEN THOUGH THE CAR WAS NEVER FIXED PROPERLY!! It will be taken to a different shop tomorrow to get a second opinion and hopefully something from that shop in writing that explains they are liable because they will be taken to small claims court. I have lived in Vacaville my whole life and know a lot of people in town. I do hair in town and have a large family. I will definitely let everyone I know not to use this place in addition to also turning them in to the automotive bureau. read more

Very disappointed with their way of business! I took in a transmission to get serviced and after waiting weeks to even get some type of estimate they end up losing my transmission an paper work. Now they say they have no record on my transmission I brought in. They lost it. The guy even joked about how it's now long gone and probably trashed and recycled for aluminum... :( Rude & careless company!
