This showed a concerning lack of understanding of how insurance coordination works. When you're discussing thousands of dollars for orthodontic treatment, accuracy and knowledge are essential. Unfortunately, the pricing confusion and lack of follow-up made me lose confidence in moving forward here. After reviewing the most recent feedback posted this year, I noticed a pattern of negative experiences. In hindsight, I should have paid closer attention. I ultimately chose Smilebliss Orthodontics (512 E Southern Ave, Tempe, AZ 85282), where I was quoted $2,900 without insurance. They properly reviewed my insurance, and my coverage handled the majority of the cost -- leaving me with only $900 out of pocket. I went with a different place at first because it was closer to where we were living. Well, that turned out to be a mistake. I ended up having a bad experience there and finally switched to S&L. Dr. Ngo and his team fixed everything the other dentist had messed up. Right away I knew my wife had been right all along. I've been going to S&L for four years now and they really are the best dental office I've ever been to. Dr. Ngo has removed all my old metal fillings and replaced them with modern ones, plus he's done a couple of crowns for me. Everything looks and feels great. My wife has also been extremely happy with all the work he's done for her too. I'm almost 55 and I've seen a bunch of top-rated, highly recommended dentists over the years, both here in the US and a couple in Mexico. Nothing else comes close. One thing I have to mention is how good Dr. Ngo is with people who hate dental visits or get nervous about pain. His work is excellent, but it's the way he takes care of you that makes the biggest difference. For example, the way he does Novocaine shots is unbelievable. You barely feel it at all. Every dentist out there should learn his technique. With all that said, I do think the front office experience could be better. If the customer service up front matched Dr. David's clearly caring vibe, it would be 100% perfect. It was literally the most thorough dental exam I've ever had, with digital X-rays (including the panos that my last dentist didn't do), CT scans if needed, lots of photos, a tooth-by-tooth evaluation, oral cancer screening, even looking at mobility, jaw movement, etc. (Finally my knowledge of the sternocleidomastoid muscle comes in handy.) Dr. Pappas even pointed out something I'd brought up to a different dentist years ago and had completely forgotten about. He's also very transparent about whether a treatment can wait or needs to be done right away. The hygienist I had was also very thorough, so I definitely felt like I was in good hands all around. I switched here after a decade at a different dental clinic that had been cutting a lot of corners. As someone without specialized knowledge, navigating dental care can be frustrating and time-consuming. I find it so frustrating--as someone with no real knowledge of dentistry--when I feel like I to have to spend time attempting to research what dentists or other doctors should be doing so I can make sure they actually do it, or to figure out what to do about pain or issues they dismiss or tell me to ignore. We all have enough things to worry about without trying to become amateur dental or medical researchers. So it's a breath of fresh air to go somewhere like Arcadia Dental Arts where I can just kick back and relax knowing they're covering all the bases. Also the office is really nice, and it's right near Lola Coffee. And they have a super cute new patient gift bag, which was a nice touch! Glad to have found a new dental home.

I went in there looking like I was dating my cousin and left looking like I'm dating the cast of the Real Housewives of Miami. Dr. Patel is second to none, and he has an amazing staff. Every one of his staff members that I have had any interaction with are great, but the main ones I have had interactions with are Dr. Patel and his assistant Little Jackie, as well as Nicole, the treatment coordinator. She always helps me figure out my life and updates my treatment plan every time I go (finally down to one page). Liz helped me book the appointment that changed my teeth forever. I went in there with a messed-up grill, like I had been chewing on a brick. Dr. came up with an amazing plan to get me back to looking human, and Little Jackie was so kind and showed empathy. She is excellent at her job. She made me feel like she understood what I was going through and it made the whole process so much better. I had some horror-movie type of stuff done, but thanks to the amazing skills of Dr. Patel, I never felt any pain. I have had multiple extractions, root canals, fillings and crowns; no pain at all. My last dentist was so bad. He had a new staff every time I went, and on top of that he put ALL CAPS on my teeth so I couldn't stop yelling ha ha. I was about to give up, but one amazing Saturday morning I woke up with the most excruciating pain in my mouth that my eyebrows were throbbing. It was so bad I laid in the bathtub in the fetal position eating Ibuprofen until Monday morning when I called Dr. Patel's office for the first time. I was a brand-new patient, so I slipped Liz a $100 and she got me in that same day (jk, Liz got me in with no bribe) and Dr. Patel extracted my tooth on the spot. Even though he risked missing his 3:30 p.m. tee time, he put me first (instant relief). I have been a fan ever since. If you ever feel intimidated or nervous, don't worry--Dr. Patel will give you some shots, top-shelf stuff. I just hope he doesn't retire before I'm done with my treatment plan or I'm going to have to finish it in Nogales, Mexico. Place tried to overcharge my wife on a cleaning service. She mentioned she only wanted the cleaning…read morethat was covered by her insurance. The dental hygienist and front desk worker reassured her that what was being done would be covered. Then they tried to bill her over $300 for services. The front desk worker called regarding the payment to which my wife said she didn't feel comfortable paying for services that were declined and agreed upon. The worker said she'd speak with the dentist. Days later she received a voicemail from the front desk lady admitting to it being her fault for not checking what was covered. Days later the office sent a break up letter saying how it's best for both the office and my wife to not continue their patient practice relationship. Not our fault your worker relayed incorrect information and were trying to charge more then was agreed. Otherwise the cleaning was through.
