Jim N Nick's uses quality meat. The smoke pulled pork is always good. On my wife and my most recent visit , I got ribs and chicken (dark meat). The chicken was moist and juicy. It had great favor. I have had better ribs, but these were okay. My wife got a loaded baked potato with chicken on top. She enjoyed hers as well. We got deviled eggs as an appetizer and they were delicious. Flew in from Arizona First time being here at Jim N Nicks BBQ let me tell you this place is off the hook delicious had some appetizers first chili cheese fries didn't get a picture ate them too quick along with some biscuits and onion rings. We were a party of nine at 6pm on a Sunday evening. The wait was under 30 minutes. The service was fair, the food was good and the cheesy biscuits were great. I found the prices decent for what was served. I will say the brisket had more fat than I would like. So it is a good thing I ordered the chicken. It was delicious! Tender, juicy and rendered near perfect with their white sauce. Honestly, I think it was the best smoked chicken I have ever eaten in a restaurant. I read some bad reviews, and think a few people's expectations are skewed. Why would a person go to this restaurant and expect vegan fare?? Ordered a ham (sliced) and a gallon of dressing (cooked)Paid a hefty price (thought it would be worth the time saved). Picked it up Thanksgiving eve at 4:30. Got it home and opened the dressing to find that a hefty serving had been scooped out of the pan. The ham, yep you guessed it, NOT sliced. Stopped in here on the drive down to FL. It was a great experience. We got here right when they opened. The food was all amazing. Turkey, chicken, Mac n cheese, coleslaw, the cheese biscuits with butter. Our server was attentive and got us everything we needed to pack a to-go box. Food was disappointing, service was slow, five of eight orders were wrong. The ribs and brisket were way over cooked. The concoction they call bbq sauce is merely the worst tomato sauce. The drinks .... Don't know what brand of bleach they use in their water and sodas, but it smells and tastes fatal. This was not the Jim and Nick's I've had in Birmingham before. As most of Auburn's BBQ places, it was a bit of a disappointing. The pork on the pulled pork sandwhich was so tough and flavorless, it's absolutely nothing like the Birmingham locations I've been to. As a matter of fact, the Jim and Nick's in Birmingham is my favorite BBQ hands down, so this was a major letdown. The beans were ok, but too sweet. Yum...what else can I say. I have eaten at this location on three occasions this year. The last two, I had pulled pork sandwich, macaroni and cheese, and greens. The sandwich is full of pork--- the macaroni and cheese taste homemade, and the greens have just a little kick to them. Perfect experience! We were greeted and seated by a wonderful host, Jalen! He introduced us to our Server, Heidi and she hit a homerun from there! Heidi is a terrific server. She recommended the devil eggs - so yummy! Took me back to Resurrection Sunday after Church. She also recommended the Brunswick stew... delicious! Our table ordered a number of entrees. Jay ordered the catfish, baked beans and greens... she love it. Lola ordered the brisket, potato salad and mac n cheese... she said it was excellent! I had the best dish, my chicken was so moist and perfectly seasoned. The cole slaw was so fresh and yummy. My mac n cheese was so creamy and cheesey! And those cheese biscuits- outstanding! Going to keep it quick and to the point! Cheddar Biscuits - They are free when you dine in and I could eat probably 100 of them. (10/10) Food - Everything on the menu is good and I would know because I've eaten here a bunch of times. BBQ is smoked so if you don't like that style of BBQ you might not like the meat that much. I love smoked foods so I like it. They also have other items on the menu like burgers, catfish, "catfish burgers" I'm not even making that up it's really an item, technically it's a sandwhich but I always call it a burger. They've also got chicken fingers and fries for the kids... or adults I don't judge. Service - Amazing staff. Seating time can be iffy. Depends on the time and day you go. If you go on a Wednesday or Friday be prepared for some wait times. Not usually as bad as other restaurants though. They usually get you in and out in under an hour. Also depends on if it's game day or parent week at Auburn University Extras: they have a bunch of TVs, everyone I know says the bar is pretty good, clean restrooms. read more

I'm a Jim and Nick's fan and have eaten in almost a dozen of them nationwide. I was surprised to see this location open up simply due to the massive number of restaurants on this strip (for being a small town). Rest assured, this location serves the same consistent BBQ, brings a friendly, clean atmosphere and great service, as does the rest of the chain. We dropped by after an Auburn baseball game and the place was three-quarters empty, even at 9pm. Unfortunately, there were a few misses on our trip. The Homemade Bar-B-Que Chips with blue cheese dressing were barely seasoned and slightly greasy, they forgot my salad and both of the brisket dinners were ordered had more fat that meat. (We order this often and have never seen the fat as least not partially trimmed off before it's served.) My friends son struggled to eat the brisket because it was surrounded by fat. Other than that, we enjoyed every bite. Jim N Nicks is one of the few chains that normally always delivers great BBQ at an affordable price. In fact, my open-face turkey sandwich (it's on the lunch menu, but you can order it for dinner) tasted amazing. On the other hand, we were surprised to see such different gravy here than other locations. We had eaten in Tuscaloosa here two nights prior and the gravy was much better (and completely different). This batch tasted like it was from a can and came in the form of a light brown gravy, rather than the dark brown we enjoyed at other locations. When coming to Jim N Nicks it can be a chore to decide what to order. The chain offers a large assortment of items. Your best bet is to opt for a two or three meat combo where you can try a few items (and a few trimmings). And, keep in mind, there isn't any superior BBQ in town. Moe's is ok, but Jim and Nick's stands taller. Why else would the Club Level at Auburn Arena cater it? read more

Called in on Tuesday April 18, 2023 placed an order tried to call on Friday April 21, 2023 and was told they don't take call ins. I would have to go on line to place an order. I asked how long has this been going on. She wanted to say a week ago. I informed the receptionist that some took my order over the phone on Tuesday. This was horrible! Restaurant was not packed and we were informed they were a little understaffed. We had a party of 4. We were seated and waiting roughly about 15 mins before we were acknowledged or asked what would we like to drink. Another party came in shortly after us with a party of maybe 8. They were seated and immediately brought out cheese biscuits. Shortly after they received there drinks all while we had nothing. No drinks and no cheese bread!! We asked waiter for cheese biscuits and he informed us it would be a little wait due to them being understaffed. No problem, that's understandable. We ordered 2 sweet teas ... 1 was sweet and 1 was unsweetened. Not sure how that happened. Before we received cheese bread that same party of 8 received another basket of cheese bread. At this point and time we sat there for maybe 45 mins with no cheese bread, incorrect drinks and NO FOOD! We had enough! Understaffed or not there is ABSOLUTELY NO REASON WE HAD NOTHING BUT INCORRECT DRINK ORDERS and the other party of 8 had NOT 1 but 2 BASKETS OF CHEESE BISCUITS. We were also told there would be a wait on LEMONS. Slices of lemon for sweet tea. After 45 mins STILL NO LEMONS. Needless to say we left. We spoke to the manager on duty (Melissa) and she compensated us with a $25 gift card for a party of 4 after we left $15 for 1 water, 1 Diet Coke, and 2 teas. I enjoy Jim N Nicks Restaurant. I even gave this location another try a year later after a previous experience similar in nature. Jim 'N Nick's is a southern staple and one I wish was more predominant in the south. They freshly cook and all their food products in house, so don't go late the the establishment late at night, they might be out of stuff. I highly recommend their catfish or pork brisket. To me service is everything. The concept this location has is phenomenal. Everyone helps everyone.. This leads to happier customers and is an efficient way to get your customers in and out, while creating more revenue for the store. Very smart! Everything we have tried has been awesome, from the baby back ribs, to the pulled pork and even the brisket. The manager there knows how to run a restaurant, from the moment you walk in, you are greeted quickly, seated promptly (if no wait) , the servers greet your table immediately... No waiting 5 to 10 minutes like at other places, or even over 20 at some places !! I know there are other Jim and Nicks in the South, I've not been to any of those, but I do know the one in Auburn AL is fantastic. We have had great experiences with each visit... I love the consistency of the service (no matter who the server is) and with the food, which is delivered out very quickly and hot! . Face it, when you go out to eat you want to be treated nice and get the attention you need, with a nice environment. If I went to a place that was a 5 star restaurant with wonderful food, but with horrible service and a miserable looking staff.. I would not ever go back. Go inside and eat. Do not under any circumstances go through the drive-through. We gave the order. We repeated the order because she got it wrong. Then she repeated it back to us correctly and then we pulled up. We get to the window, and she repeats the order to us correctly. We get home and both the hamburger and the rib plate are incorrect. The hamburger toppings were wrong and my rib plate was missing a side item. 0-2 on this trip. Inside meals have been right. And they have that great crunchy ice. Totally clueless. Server was clueless. Cook was clueless. Manager was clueless. Ordered the Cuban sandwich and chips. It came out with no pickles, mustard, or mayo like the menu described and the chips were OLD. I told the server and he was very nice about replacing it. (He actually knew that the chips were likely stale because he finished my sentence). But the sandwich came back still missing pickles and the chips didn't come out until we had already finished. They were good so make sure they are fresh. The real kicker is that the clueless manager came by our table after I had sent the food back. He had no clue despite me being without food in front of me. He asked if everything was okay and walked away before we could give a real response. The server should have been trained to notify the manager when a meal was sent back. Slow service, poor management, clueless cook, and overpriced average food. Won't return. read more
