We moved to Montgomery 13 years ago and the first meal we had was at Jim and Nicks. It was our favorite place. The food was awesome and so were the people. Over the years, it has had its ups and downs - we interacted with numerous managers that came and went. Then the owners sold to a George Soros owned Restaurant chain - things went downhill. Then it was sold again to a hedge fund. The prices have gone way too high, the quality has diminished. The previous comments are correct - they are always out of so much stuff - the new manager doesn't know how to order and they don't schedule prep cooks to have stuffed ready to serve. The staff is frustrated. I was forced to call to see if they had what I wanted to eat in stock!!! Ridiculous. Then, they said they had what I wanted - we went for lunch - it was so bad I could barely eat. Wish I wouldn't have - I got food poisoning. We are done - DONE.... They have ruined the place and I am extremely sad to say that. We will miss the Hostess - she is very special to us. RIP Jim and Nicks - Montgomery. read more

Food was really good to include the sauces. My favorite was the Habanero sauces. Had the hickory smoke brisket, good size amount food with the corn bread to snack on. Will be back for the ribs next time. read more

Service was quick and friendly. Food was delicious... I don't eat red meat and the poultry is always medicre at BBQ restaurants, but the poultry here was so moist and delicious. The sauces for the BBQ and chicken wing is delcious. I love love love the bread. (corn bread based). Their Firefly drink is awesome. Perfect balance of sweet iced tea and vodka. They will pour more iced tea or vodka to your preference. They also give a 10% military discount. read more

Wanted to get this for dinner to take home so I went thru the drive up window. It was busy so it was quite a wait. Ordered pulled pork sandwiches. I like a lot of bbq sauce so I asked for extra. When I got home, there was only KETCHUP in the bag....NO SAUCE AT ALL!!!! This really ruined it for me. I guess I should have checked the bag before I pulled away. read more

Best BBq in Montgomery. Food and service were excellent! Devil eggs are great for appetizer. Pulled pork and onion rings are the bomb.

The plates are piled high with fresh, well prepared food. Our service was prompt. I enjoyed the my Southern Chicken salad and my table mates enjoyed Greek salad, pulled pork and a quarter chicken and nobody left hungry. read more

This Jim 'N Nicks was very very very very very very very very very very very great. It was a little wait in the drive through but the cheese bread, Bar-B-Q sandwich, and mash potatoes made up for it. This place is great!! My server (Victoria) was the best server I've had in a really long time. I bragged to her how good the drinks where and the bartender came over (Courtney) to introduce herself! We've tried BBQ from Wyoming, across Texas, in Missouri, Tenn and Georgia. When I return to Montgomery I'm headed to Nick N Jim's. The food and service was great. Our server PJ took great care of us. We like Full Moon but we love Nick N Jim. read more

If you expect timely service and to feel taken care of, this is not the place for you. We stopped in to order to go and the order took 45 minutes. Beyond that, we had to send one order back because the meat was fried, when we specifically asked for smoked. We were given several complimentary orders of biscuits which was nice but honestly not enough for the hassle. This restaurant needs some serious productivity and staffing help, as well as some additional customer service training. We love Jim n nicks and eat at the Niceville FL location often. This location wasn't as good. There was fat in the pulled pork and we bought $70 worth of bbq in the drive thru AND THEY GAVE US ZERO UTENSILS OR NAPKINS. We would have gone back but after 45 minutes in the drive thru we chose to get forks and napkins elsewhere. read more

I loved their pork. I got the 2 combo platter with Carolina pork and the pulled pork. The Carolina chopped pork was one of the best BBQ pork flavored I've ever had. Their regular BBQ sauce is not my type but their habanero spicy BBQ sauce is great. I didn't need to soak the pork to taste it which made for a lighter flavor and feeling in my stomach. For what appeared to be a slow night, service and food were both disappointing, and timely, when it did come cold fries..but having the servers tit half on my plate killed my appetite before I can eat. I first tried Jim 'N Nick's in 2007 and absolutely loved it. So when I returned into 2008 I had to come back and brought some friends and it was delicious! The brisket was tender, the ribs had a good bite and very tasty, the sides or trimmings were even full of flavor. I went there tonight in 2018 and the brisket was dry, the ribs were tough, the greens did not have any flavor, the only thing that was worth the were the macaroni and cheese and the cheese biscuits. I was so disappointed now while I'll be here for four weeks I have to try another barbecue restaurant to enjoy while I'm here. read more

This was a to go order, they got the order wrong and over charged me. Sandwiches were very small for $11.00 bucks a piece, not enough BBQ sauce, meat was a bit tough and fatty. Baked potato was large but only had enough toppings for a potato half it's size, had literally 4-5 crumbs of bacon on it. They charged me for 2 sandwiches and 4 sides PLUS onion rings X 2 (I only ordered 1) and $5.79 for a baked potato. So I left with 2 sandwiches, 3 sides (1 I didn't order) 2 pieces of pie. No drinks. $43.15. Was worth about half of that. read more

We have gone here about 10 times in last 3-4 years. The food is good when done correctly, but it has been a steady decline in food quality in the last year or 2... When I think of Jim n Nicks I first think of the great cheese biscuits, but they have been so difficult to get! They make you wait 10 almost 15 mins to bring out then only 1 or 2 per person! The place is going downhill. In the past month they have messed up our take out order more than once, The food was only what I would consider average to begin with, the location kept me going back, but after last nights disaster, not anymore. 6 bites of chicken on an entree salad? Cold fries, a dried out burger...Tarter sauce instead of ranch dressing, large chunks of bacon fat. Not an edible salad, and from the time I called to the time I got my food it was over 50 minutes, not the 10-15 I was told. I stood at the bar for over half an hour, they were not busy. I also witnessed the manager being told he had a complaint on line 2, watched him walk away and go around to all of the tables to say hello to customers before coming back and being told again that he had a call on line 2. I dont tend to like a lot of bbq restaraunts. Its not that I dont like bbq, its that I cook it myself at the house and have had award winning championship bbq on several occasions. That being said I try to give places a fair shot. I went in here with very little knowledge that this was a chain restaraunt. I figured it was just this one and the one in Prattville. So I wait about 5-10 minutes at the front door waiting to be seated. Its not packed and there wasn't a wait just no one was there to sit me. Took a look at the bar but it was full (small bar) so I was getting ready to just go eat somewhere else but someone finally asked me if i had been helped. Got a seat in a huge booth which since i was alone was kind of a waist of space when there was an available smaller table but whatever didnt bother me. Looked over the menu while waiting another 5 min for my waiter and settled on the pulled pork sandwhich on sourdough, water, and a tall PBR. Waited about ten minutes for the food which is a standard weight time and not bad but in that time I hadnt seen my waiter once. The pulled pork was ok and the fries were about the same. Not a real smokey flavor to the meat and the sauce was knd of generic. I decided to add the habanero sauce which had a better flavor. Overall the food was ok but nothing special. The service was lacking. Might have just been my waiter. My girl wants to check it out still so there might be another review up here from me in the future. read more

In all honesty, this review is about the service rather then the food. I did order a pound of their pork. It was 8pm on a Sunday night and I went in to order a take out. The girl behind the counter was not busy, however she was very rude to me and made me wait while she flirted with the guys at the counter, as well as two other men who came in after me. Eventually a sever from the floor came over and asked if I had been waiting this entire time, I said yes and he finished assisting me and he was nice enough. However, the girl gave me the food and when I got it opened, I discovered that I have received only the meat and neither of the two sides I had paid for. Disappointing. read more

Best pulled pork I've had. The two sides were adequate, but on the smaller side. The pork portion was generous. Some are complaining about price, for $14, I thought it was fine. The "mild" wings were a bit spicy for my daughter but they were happy to make some up without the sauce. The muffins at the beginning were INCREDIBLE! read more

Biscuits were gross. Normally great. No sugar in them. They were u undercooked. Asked for Manager. Female front end Mgr came to our table. She said oh yea that batch was bad they forgot sugar. A waitress brought a new basket 15 mins later just shoved the basket on table and walked away. Second basket was also terrible again. Not edible. The biscuits are part of the meal and are not free they are calculated into cost of food. Baked potato had black parts. On previous visits baked potatoes are sometimes left over and don't taste good at all. The restaurant is very hit or miss. Go elsewhere. read more

I heard alot of hype about this place. Ordered it to go, a rack of babybacks, pulled pork and brisket, with a double side of mac'n'cheese. It didn't live up to the hype, the pulled pork was awesome, they gave me spareribs instead of babybacks, brisketwas overcooked and tough. The mac was awesome. Good food...IF they actually have everything on the menu. Today was pretty much the last straw. Went in at noon, ordered pulled pork plate with cole slaw as both my sides. Sorry, out of cole slaw. Really!?! It's only noon! You've only been open for an hour. If this was a first it wouldn't have been a big deal, but I swear something like this happens every time we go there. Last time it was no baked beans, again at lunch. Before that we ordered over the phone to be picked up in the drive thru. Got our order home (30 minutes away) and they hadn't given us any bbq sauce. No bbq sauce. For our bbq! Sorry, but I'm out! It's the south, I will find another place for bbq. A place that isn't completly incompetent. read more

On Friday night 2/27/2015, a large group of my family and friends met here to celebrate my son's birthday and him finishing up testing for the Bar. Our waitress was Bethany Massey. I wanted to let you know what great service we were given. Bethany was very friendly, prompt, and knowledgeable about the food that you s offer. She managed to get everyone's order correct which to me was amazing considering there were eighteen(18) people in our party. We waited 1.5 hours for our food, which was cold. We never got our appetizers that we ordered, and I never got the lemon for my water that I asked 4 times for. Everything that could've been bad about this experience was. In the end, our meal wasn't comped and we walked away with our food in to-go boxes because we were late for our 1:00 meeting.
