Food is decent but always so slow out of the kitchen. Got an email with a Veteran's Day promotion for tomorrow, buy one plate get one free. I am a Navy veteran. I was near the Jimboy's nearby and asked if they are going to honor the promotion, the young lady said 'no'. I asked if the franchise owner liked veterans. Response was the same to the promotion. Ordered tacos and burrito. I wanted to make sure there was no misunderstanding and I asked her again after my food was ready, she very curt and said 'no, where did u hear that? She seemed annoyed. I told her I got an email which I have attached. Why so cheap? They get food wholesale, pay employees very little and have a tax write-off for donating food to veterans for a day. This is an affluent neighborhood and they have lots of customers. I am confident that Jim 'JImboy' Knudson the founder of Jimboy's is a supporter of veterans. Amendment: Late Veteran's day the owner reached out and apologized for employee which he identified. Additionally he stated this location was honoring the Veteran promotion. Employee was trained on this promotion. I am unclear as to why she denied me the promotion, something about the employee not knowing the difference between military discounts and this veteran's day promotion. It was mentioned there is fraud at this location, customers submit altered coupons. I received an email with promotion information no coupon required so not sure why that was mentioned. I asked employee three times to honor the promotion, she said no three times. The third time I informed the employee I got an email she still said no. I wanted to make sure there was no misunderstanding. It was late in the day and DID NOT benefit for the buy one get one. read more

At the local Starbucks for a meeting and got a craving for Jimboy's original beef tacos. I whipped out my phone to ask Yelp where the nearest Jimboy's was located, and it was in the same parking lot! Jennifer took my order. Per usual I the ground beef tacos; it's the Parmesan dust that does it for me every time. I love good salsa and always grab a few cups to enjoy with my tacos. Every so often, you have the kind of meal that scares you straight. Loud enough to send a jolt up your spine. This is not my first time with an experience like this and I know I am not alone here. On this occasion, it was the Jimboy's tacos in Sacramento. I had just arrived to my hotel and was looking near me for what food was around and Jimboy looked like a good time. I swiped right. I drove up to the establishment and saw only one other person waiting for his food. He looked kind of sad, but in a resolved sort of way. The way his downturned grey mustache pulled away from the shiny eyes that looked to be searching to answers long lost at sea. I should have taken this as a sign, but I was incredibly hungry. I had landed, waited over an hour in a car rental line, and then just gotten carried away with schlepping my suitcase to my hotel and what not. So, here I landed at this fast food drive-through cube on a very Californian grid of streets. After ignoring the fellow customer, I walked up to the counter and ordered myself two crunchy tacos and asked what might have a lot of protein. The employee said through her sunny smile, "oh, our quesadilla has chicken and bacon, so that might be a good choice". I abdicated control and said, ok, let's do that too. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I walked over to find a table to eat at and saw a table covered in dust.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I looked up at the ceiling to see if the tiles were perhaps dropping some material on the table and saw nothing of the sort, so I decided to wipe off the table with some napkins I found and proceed about my business. I am not too picky, I just need a relatively clean trough to feed out of. Once the sunny employee called my name I went to pick up my food and saw that everything was covered in this powdered cheese, kind of like the clumpy stuff I might have put on my childhood spaghetti dinners. I now understand, why the table looked like an asbestos camp. The stuff was everywhere and I have to say, it's really not a bad touch. The food doesn't need it, but it doesn't NOT need it if you catch my drift. So, I wolfed the crunchy tacos down, which were not so crunchy, but still good. I was too hungry for just two tacos, so at this point I was still glad that I had also ordered the quesadilla. Now, I normally don't order quesadillas, even from actual Mexican establishments. I just don't enjoy them, kind of like I don't really enjoy chicken fingers or butter noodles or afternoon arts and crafts, or daytime cartoons that supposedly get you ready for literacy. But, to each their own. I really just wanted the chicken. Well, I suppose there was some chicken, some sad dark meat cubes of chicken, along with what I would have guessed was some kind of canned soup concentrate. I ate some quesadilla before it lost it's nerve and just started sliding its tortillas all over the plate, evacuating its contents something like a cat does when it's gone a little too far. I tried to to tough through it and eat as much as I could, for the nutrients. But, about halfway through I threw in the towel and figured I want to keep a little dignity. My hands were covered in grease, powder and goop. Lots of goop. So, here it goes, I want some fresh food, eat a macronutrient rich, diet made my free-range unicorns. I came to the Jim boys on a weekday around 130. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It wasn't that full, which was good.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I ordered the combo special that included two tacos, rice and beans no drink. I went to the bathroom to wash my hands as I said on the picture I posted. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I'm not sure if my hands were clean or not after washing my hands just look at that faucet.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] They have three sauces at the salsa bar, red Milf sauce, a homemade red sauce, and a green sauce the homemade red sauce was amazing. Jim boys is by my house and it's very convenient. I always get the bean burrito crispy. The staff is always very pleasant. I even went in there crying one day and they were consoling me which was really nice. They didn't have to do that but overall, I love the experience. I first tried Jimboys back in 04 and had the shredded beef tacos. They were amazing and I was hooked. But the closest location to me is 350 miles, so going there only happens when Im in that part of the state. The last time I was there was in 2012, and I've been craving it for some time now. Well, that time came today! We were driving back from Oregon, and there was a location in woodland. NGL, I was pretty excited when we pulled into the parking lot. I didn't need to even look at the menu, and before the cashier said "welcome to jimboys" I blurted out "4 shredded beef tacos please!" I was crushed when he said they didn't have shredded beef, only ground or steak. Not sure what to make of this devastating news, I ordered the ground beef tacos. For the most part they were good. Not nearly as good as the shredded beef, but tasty nonetheless. So in the interests of accurate journalism, I had to try the steak taco. And sadly, it was a disappointment. The ground beef tacos are significantly less than steak, and far better. At $5.25 the steak is not worth it. If any representative of jimboys is reading this, please bring back shredded beef. If not, I think my relationship with jimboys is over. read more

Until recently, this Jimboys was always consistent. They had good food that wasn't too greasy (like other locations can be), the staff were nice and the orders would come correct. It has dropped off significantly in the last several months or maybe year. The last ten or so orders we have gotten home have had missing items or when we have caught the missing items and had them make them in store and put them in our order, they end up like this sad ground beef taco. Little baby taco doesn't even have Parmesan on the outside. Said taco was the cornerstone of a persons dinner and completely unappetizing. I wasn't about to drive back that night to have it fixed, as I had already had them fix the order once. I just went back, two days later, to pick up another meal and showed them the pic and asked if they could throw in a "make it right taco". The kid at the counter shrugged, sighed "I doubt it but I guess I can ask". Just the dismissive, bothered, crap attitude had me over it. This was after I saw him cleaning the lobby, not washing his hands and then handling the food. *** Vegetarian Review *** *** Not on the menu -- just ask *** Taco Bell is still the king of the Mexican Fast Food chains, but don't sleep on Jimboy's. Bottom line, there's a reason why Jimboy's Tacos has been around since the 1950s and is a fan favorite for their parm-dusted corn shell tacos and what I recently discovered, their dinner plates. Would I Come Back Test? I've been a fan of Jimboy's since the 90s so yup. They offer a lot of vegetarian friendly options and the food is always fresh and affordable. Comparison: If you like the chili relleno at El Azteca in Roseville, you'll be a fan of this as well. Tips for first-timers: 1. Order their original taco. Whether you're a meat eater or vegetarian, this is a great entry into the world of Jimboys. That parm-dusted shell will make you wonder why you never thought of doing that. 2. Plenty of free parking. 3. They told us the refried beans are vegetarian - thanks Jimboys! That's awesome. Chili Relleno plate ($10.05, Grade A) This isn't on the menu, but I'm so glad I asked. Because of Covid, we decided to take it to go. They pack it up nicely in a tv-dinner style to go tray. Refried beans, lettuce and tomato salsa side, and a generously-sized chili relleno on a bed of Spanish rice. It's huge. The chili isn't spicy at all if you're wondering. If you can handle the mild sauce at Taco Bell, this is even milder. The green chili is lightly dipped into an egg batter which I prefer. I don't like it when it's more like eating an omelette that happens to have a green chili stuffed with cheese. If not for the plastic forks and plates, you would expect this at authentic Mexican restaurant. They smother it with a red sauce, top the whole thing again with cheese and all for less than $11. Queso Fries ($4.25, Grade B) Wedge cut fries with a queso sauce. The sauce gets an A, but the wedge cut fries are a C-grade. Not because we took it to go, but because they weren't cooked long enough. The insides were still a little raw, but thankfullly, the queso sauce was burn-your-mouth hot. We ended up just using the queso with tortilla chips we already bought at the nearby Nugget Market. But, if you're a fan of wedge cut fries, this side dish will make you happy. If I ever do order them again, I'll just ask them to make it extra crispy. Final word: Friendly staff that keep the place clean. They are wearing masks and have posted signs enforcing social distancing. Their chili relleno rivals that of more expensive restaurants and again, first-timers also need to try their signature taco. read more

I want to say that this is the worst Jimboys I have ever eaten at the worker. Elizabeth is very rude. My boyfriend went and got the family food and this food was trash. The beans were hard the enchilada sauce was cold. There were old hard pieces of meat, burnt pieces of meat all throughout my order. When I called to let them know about what was going on instead of being understanding and trying to resolve the issue. Elizabeth felt the need to tell me that she checked my order and everything is fresh and my thing is this is a very big concern because if someone is telling you that the food is fresh, but when you're eating it, there are hard old pieces of food throughout the whole plate to the point to where your four year old child is now saying that their stomach hurts and they no longer can eat it and instead of just getting your refund they tell you that you have to bring in all of the food before they give you your refund This place is a disgrace and deserves to be shut down. I'm contacting the Better Business Bureau and filing a complaint on this establishment because I do not believe that they clean anything I do not believe that the food is fresh and for somebody to request that I bring all of the food back let me know that you guys probably are going to take bits out of this and probably resell the plate. read more

I rarely type up bad reviews but I need to, ordered the two tacos meal and the nachos. Unfortunately the tacos were way too salty and greasy. Adding the sauce helped a tiny bit to make it edible and I didn't want to waste food so I sucked it up and ate that only, but definitely was not satisfied. I don't even know where to begin with the beef nachos, the beef did not seem like beef at all, the taste of it was awful and the texture, the chips seemed to be a bit hard as well. It seemed like it was sitting out and old and was left overs that was just warmed up. Sad part was I had to throw away the nachos. read more
