We greatly enjoyed it,a nd we had a very nice waitress. We would suggest that the wonderful cheese bread be brought only after diners have had a chance to look through the menu and think about ordering drinks so that the bread does not get cold. Also, it would be good to have the wine arrive before the food. In our case, we took a bit of time to decide on the wine, so the soup arrived and was finished before the wine even arrived at the table to be opened, whereas we would have liked a few sips of wine before the meal. The food is okay, the French fries are weird, kind of a strange grease on them that always makes my stomach hurt after I eat them. The chicken is pretty good but a lot of the time it's hard to chew the breading. The service is good but on some tables there is gum under the table. The service is nice but there are flies that won't leave you alone. I really don't care about your interests, goals, hobbies, passions, children, or dreams while we are on the subject. Let patrons eat in peace, go find a friend and keep your voices down. And the audacity to think you are invited to sit at my table to take an order is just sad. The chamber of commerce has been notified multiple times by me about the service crisis in this town and you made book on that this week. I've never lost my appetite more quickly. Service leaves a lot to be desired and the mahi mahi fish tacos aren't tacos at all really. Whomever made this dish should go to Ensenada where fish tacos were born an then teach the help not to over cook the fish. "blackened" doesn't mean I want "mahi jerky". I must say this is not your typical bar food. I've been there four times and my friends and I have always been very satisfied with both the quality of the food and service. Yes, you can get a burger and frys, but the other menu items are very good also. I'm not all that impressed. Went in somewhat later on a weeknight and got good service, the food just didn't stack up all that well. Ordered mussels as a starter and that was the best part of the meal. For the main I got mostaccioli and meatballs, another member of my party got a burger and I could tell that the meatballs and burger were made in the same pan as that part of my meal lacked any real Italian flavor. Went to lunch here on a Wed. Food was OK, salads drowned in dressing was a downer. Biggest issue was staffing. 2 people on the floor & 1 behind the bar seems pretty unfair for a place this size. we went to Jimi D's for pre interview dinner/drinks on a Friday night. Our group consisted of nearly 13 people from Omaha, Kentucky, Illinois, Minnesota, North Dakota, California, etc and here is my impression about the entire experience: Atmosphere: it is a nice sports bar/restaurant with a nice vibe and attentive personnel. Drinks: I ordered pomegranate margarita for my first drink which I was not very impressed with. I thought it was watered down and a little bit too sweet. however, they have good selection of wines and beers. I ordered one of their Merlot which was really good Appetizer: their sweet potato fries with chipotle dipping sauce were flavorful and crispy. every body seemed to like it ALOT. Personally I am not a big fan of sweet potato fries but i was quite surprised with the whole combination and I will definitely order them if I ever get to go there again Soup: I had a small cup of blue cheese and broccoli soup which was tasty and not too salty. In addition, the size was quite right if you wanted to order an entree Entree: I had Steak Madeira and ordered it medium well. It had portabella mushroom sauce and blue cheese polenta which was crispy in both sides with nice texture. My friend ordered honey glazed pecan salmon and seemed to be very satisfied with the taste. couple of other fiends ordered different sandwiches and they all liked their food. I had a bite of Reuben which consisted of corned beef, sauerkraut, swiss and russian dressing. I enjoyed it a lot and probably I'll order that next time I go there. I've heard people say they don't know what his place is, a restaurant or a bar. This was my go to spot to eat and grab a few drinks when I lived in Omaha and after getting to know the staff they pretty much said it started out as a "bar" but the food became so popular that they've moved more towards restaurant mode. It's just a great place to eat and drink, great patrons and an awesome staff. I just wished they would expand the beers they have on tap. I'm sure once UNO finishes the Arena down the street this place will become the go to hangout after Mavs hockey games. read more

The food is old school italian... try the Sunday Gravy, it is off the hook. Don't be fooled by the bar atmosphere....the food here is anything but "bar food." We came here on Sunday and it was fairly busy with football fans and people coming and going from Artsarben at Aksarben Village. We were greeted and told to sit wherever we wanted. It was a nice afternoon so we sat outside. There was a very large group seated next to us, it did slow the waitress down to help us, but she must have signaled to another server to take care of us. The Gnocchi Bites were excellent and the pesto dipping sauce was incredible. We ordered the grilled cheese with sweet potato fries and Marilou's Pan Fried Meatball with fries. When the Muffaletta showed up instead of the meatball sandwich, the Muffaletta looked great, and I almost told them that I would take it. The waitress caught her error and took off towards the kitchen. The person who originally greeted us came over at this point and introduced himself as the Jimi D the owner. He assured us that my meatball was down and being cooked as we spoke and that it would be ready in 8 minutes. When my sandwich arrived I could feel the heat off of the fries and the meatball, I had to wait for it to cool off so I could try it. It was worth the wait! Jimi then came over 2 more times and apologized for the delay and said that the Meatball was on the house. I said it wasn't necessary and Jimi insisted. I think next time I go I will get the Muffaletta! read more

I've been here 4 times now. The food is always fresh & mouth watering! From the sweet potato fries to the chicken piccata, this place has a little bit of everything & it's ALL good. They have the best salads as well. Sometimes they can be a little busy but the staff is always amazing. They are always prompt, cheery, & polite. The food was really good as always. However, every-time I go the servers are always rude. Once someone finally came to the front and told us we could sit anywhere, it then took almost 10 minutes before anyone greeted us at the table. They act like they are too snooty for the customers, which is strange because I cannot figure out why from looking at them. When the outfit that the server is wearing is too disruptive to the point I can't listen to a conversation at my table, there is a problem. On top of that the server we had this time, Joy, shorted the change we were suppose to get back. We were suppose to get back $9.44, and only received the $9 back. We obviously didn't say anything because it's .44 cents, but still thought it was a very strange thing to happen. I just feel ever since I started coming here over the past couple years, it has gone more downhill every time. read more

My gosh. Haven't been to Jimi D's in forever but WOW did they do an amazing job last night! We had the best server who was so understanding that after 2 hours waiting for our food and mind you this place was packed!!! - we had a show to go to and said as much - so we had to leave without eating. We weren't upset, I and my whole party understood. Out waitress ( I didn't get her name in all the chaos!! Boo!! ) and the staff were so understanding and apologetic! It was crazy cuz they could've been really obviously annoyed and they weren't! We drank plenty so we had our waitress running all over the place.. We made sure she was taken care of. It's rare in this day and age to have a young staff be so respectful of their patrons in a situation like that. Jimi D's you rock! read more

I came to Jimi D's with moderate expectations and left pleasantly surprised. The quality of the ingredients was high, especially the ribeye used in my philly steak sandwich. The menu is quite large and includes a number of salads, hot sandwiches, and entrees. Look forward to returning soon. read more

Fantastic! Service was great and after 8.5 hours at the zoo, it was the perfect end to a long day.

We ate there the food and the service was great. The selection on the menu was great. They have some items on the menu that I haven't seen anywhere else gnocchi bites. Just had lunch today. Purchased a Living Social coupon, was in the area and dropped in. Having not been before we walked in and were told sit anywhere. Okay a little weird when you haven't been but okay. Took a while making up our minds. I ordered a house soup made with beans and kale and a coconut crusted chicken salad. My spouse the Lobster lasagna with French Onion Soup. The waitress told us the lasagna had a white sauce on the interior and red over it. The soups came first, the Onion soup had fewer onions than my spouse was used to which he preferred. The house soup with kale, beans, and sausage was great. It could have been improved upon by having the kale tore into smaller pieces so they weren't falling out of the soup spoon but otherwise I really enjoyed it. I wish we could say the same for the salad. The chicken had been over cooked and if there was any coconut anywhere I couldn't find it. The toasted almonds had also been toasted to the point just shy of black. I didn't enjoy the dressing at all. As for the lasagna there was little if any red sauce anywhere. It was completely covered in what must have been their Alfredo sauce and it was great. So much for the waitress knowing her business. Overall we just weren't impressed with the wait staff. We have another coupon and will try it again. read more

I absolutely love the midway and that soup which name escapes me is the best soup I believe I have ever had. Staff is outstanding and if you go there more than once, they'll likely remember your face and subsequently remember your name. Menu is unique as there isn't one like it anywhere in Omaha. I've tried numerous entrees and at a minimum thought they were at least good. Most in the excellent category. You really can't go wrong here. it can get a little loud especially on a Friday or Saturday night. the outside dinning and lounging is especially nice during the nice days of spring and fall as well as the dog days of summer. A lot of young singles do frequent Jimi D's if you're looking to meet someone. Parking can be a little rough as it shares a lot with numerous other businesses. Drinks are poured appropriately and with a wide variety, you'll definitely enjoy that experience. All in all, I really like Jimi D's top to bottom. read more

I have been here close to 8 times in this year alone, and Jimi D's is by far my favorite spot for excellent quality food and service in all of Omaha, by far. I have never had an empty glass or a meal not amazing. Staff is incredible, manager is exactly the kind you hope for in a restaurant (takes the time to get to know customers). This place was okay... I was happy with the chicken parm I ordered, and the soup they served before that was excellent. I don't think the bartender had ever made a Manhattan prior to me ordering one, but he did a decent job. A little too sweet, but that's alright. Been to Jimi's 10 times or more always had a great experience. Food is great and service is usually good. However, Sunday 12/12/2010 was the exception. Service was terrible and the entire place was not pleased. Didn't leave because wanted to watch a football game that was on. Bartender, who was cross eyed from all the booze, didn't ask if we needed anything for a least 45 minutes to an hour each time. Three girls were supposedly working but the only thing I saw was them taking shots. I guess they probably saved me money but that cant be good for business. read more

They should have zero stars. The wait staff ignored our table on the patio and made our group go inside to the bar and serve ourselves multiple times. When I tried to speak with the manager about the terrible service he very rudely told us he knew and didn't even apologize. The Bloody Mary's and Margaritas were disgusting. artichoke dip was tasty but only came with 6 small pieces of bread yet the dip was huge. either cut back on the dip or add more bread. the establishment was extremely hot. I asked about the wings and was told 10-12 come to an order. I received 6 small wings, for $8.99 and they were overcooked, hard and little meat on the bones. I wont be returning. read more
