Ordered a spicy east coast Italian and they didn't put meat on it. They literally have one job.

First time trying Whataburger and being a Californian and all the comparisons of which is better…read moreshould not even be an issue. When you compare something, they should have equal measures to make it fare. As Whataburger was not a bad burger, there's truly a difference with the freshness of an In N Out burger. Just the preparation a In N Out's grilled onions, was flavorfully different to Whataburger's grilled onions. Their mustard, ketchup mayonnaise is. Or the same taste profile that In N Out can deliver. As for French fries, I know in N out fries are not the best, but freshly sliced potatoes fried too an extra crispy doneness is how I like it. Whataburger fries were not bad but it completely reminded me of frozen McDonald's French fries. The service we received at Whataburger was really good. The manager or staff that took our order was patient and explained the preparation of the burgers to us. I also took the advice of my friend who grew up and lived in California and is very experienced with In N Out food, was to try the Whataburger Patty Melt. Out of all that we ordered, that stood up to be the best thing on the menu. I would not say either way which is the best burger, but what I truly say, is they are just not the same to make a bold prediction of superiority. However, given the choice, I'm still team In N Out.

I approached the manager at 3:15 PM and he told me they were working on it. From what I could tell, they had not started. I approached the manager because the person who ordered after me received his food. My food arrived at 3:20PM with no drink. I tasted my food and the fries were cold. Cold French Fries were verified because people in the drive through came inside to report the exact same thing. When my fries were brought out. I asked about my drink and the manager acted like he did not understand my order. I ordered a signature drink and did not recieve. What I noticed during my wait, the employees were on their cell phone. They were standing around having conversations while orders waited. The manager is not fit for his job. He offered the drive through people coming inside extra items. He offered me nothing not even an apology. When Whataburger employees ordered food, they were more friendly to them than actual customers. They received their orders within 7 minutes. The food was not good and over salted.

If you didn't burn the roof of your mouth, you did it wrong. Go back and get another one. It's pretty much how I remember it. Hot, juicy, apple pie. Crispy on the outside and lava hot inside. Don't wait, get yours today. I did go through the drive thru, because you have to order on a kiosk inside and I'm too old for that crap.

They clearly aren't on top of changing the soda syrup or checking the fry quality. Worse, right before closing, the workers turn rude and dismissive like you're bothering them for existing. If you're gonna act that way when it's time to close, just shut down and stop taking orders--don't get mad that you messed up the order, refuse to fix it, and hand out old fries you're about to throw away anyway instead of making fresh ones. I don't know if the lower managers can't keep up with the crew or if they're part of the problem, but the store manager needs to step in and fix this mess. If it keeps happening, I'm calling the 1-800 corporate number to report it. Food was edible at best, but the attitude and quality shortcuts killed any chance of coming back. Avoid this location if you can.

Curbside pickup during COVID-19

For a Yelp Elite review of an Austin icon like Torchy's, the key is to lean into your "local…read moreexpert" voice--acknowledging that while it's a massive chain now, the consistency and specific "hacks" are why it's still a 5/5 for you. Here is an expanded version that fits your style and highlights why it's a staple for you: The Review Rating: 5/5 Torchy's Tacos is an absolute Austin institution for a reason. Even as they've expanded, the quality at the local spots remains incredibly high. When I'm looking for something fast, flavorful, and quintessentially "Austin," this is my go-to. The Holy Grail of Queso: Let's start with the Green Chile Queso. It is hands down one of my favorite quesos in town. The consistency is perfect, and that hit of diablo sauce and cilantro on top makes it addictive. If you're coming here and not getting the queso, you're doing it wrong. The Heavy Hitters: Trailer Park (Make it "Trashy"): This is a total staple. Pro-tip: you have to get it "trashy," which means they swap the lettuce for extra green chile queso. It's indulgent and 10/10 every single time. The Brushfire: This is my other favorite. The Jamaican jerk chicken has the perfect amount of kick, and the fresh mango balances the heat beautifully. It's a very "purposeful" flavor profile that stands out from a standard taco. Logistics & Service: What keeps me coming back is how reliable and quick the service is. It's my top choice for take-out because they have the system down to a science. Whether you're dining in or grabbing a bag to-go, the quality doesn't dip. Pro-Tip: If you're a regular, ask about the "Secret Menu." They have some off-book items like the "Mad Cow" or the "Tipsy Chick" that are worth a try if you want to switch up your usual order. Torchy's is a masterclass in "Damned Good" consistency. It's fast, it's reliable, and that queso alone earns the 5 stars.

I really don't know what happened to Torchy's Tacos. At one point it was a wonderful, very Austin…read morekind of place and now it is a filthy, disgusting place with mediocre cold food. The only thing I can surmise is that after it was taken over by private equity it has gone down the crapper as do all restaurants that are owned by private equity. This location is incredibly dirty and the food is prepared by people who couldn't care less. The staff which used to be perky and engaged when it was owned locally is now a bunch of disaffected Gen Z types who couldn't care less. We were served by two touch screens and a disaffected young person who couldn't care less and seemed high on gummies. The men's room at this location is utterly filthy and way dirtier than most gas station restrooms. The hand washing basin is dangling off the wall and has caulk all over it which seems applied by a drunken repair person. It was literally disgusting and smelled worse. I was so put off by my visit that I have realized that it is not worth the risk to dine here anymore. I will never return. Torchy's used to be a great Austin restaurant but it is now being systematically ruined by its new owners who are clearly only focused on how much money they can wring out of the place. All the creativity and positive energy are gone, replaced by filth and gross inedible food. The food also tastes much worse and I suspect it is now being sourced at Sysco or some other giant logistics company that produces the same bland cafeteria class food ingredients that other private equity-owned restaurants use. If you value your health, please stay away from this restaurant and its branches. I literally do not review too many places but I was truly blown away by how filthy and disgusting this restaurant was.
