What's up with sub places and ceiling tiles? Corralling in Austin to draft a fictitious sports team into existence takes quite the physical toll. TSS was there to tape me up. Our party tried each section of the menu, none being disappointed with what was presented. A personal favorite bite was the Austin Club, but not by a long shot. My favorite trait of this strip mall sando sanctuary was the sweet sounds. When the kitchen is on AUX, the restaurant feels in sync. This isn't your Top 50 playlist, rather a TUCCI MEGAMIX worth the extra decibels. Don't expect a "$" price point or anything extraplantary, but solid solid solid lads - enjoy.

    Tucci's sub on wheat

Food: 4/5 delicious Service: 5/5 quick and fantastic Parking: 5/5 easy and plenty Value: 2/5 Ambiance: 2/5 Pros: Loved my tucci's sub! The whole wheat bread is delicious. The veggies are fresh and leaves a gentle acidic taste that you love on a big sub. This place is identical to the one on the west side. The guy who took our order was friendly. The chips here are also good picks for potato chips. Con: The subs are on the pricier side. We got a 14 in and 7 in and paid $36. I personally wouldn't frequent this spot for the cost but would happily visit once or twice a year to get a better-than-usual deli sub fix!

I've been craving a philly cheesesteak for a few days so I finally decided to give in. But no regular sandwich would do; I wanted something that would transport me back to the city of brotherly love. I've had one from Snarfs, which is close to my house, and I know it's good but I wanted MORE. I recalled Tucci's had great sandwiches even though I haven't been in years. So I went out of my way to go to this place. Walking in, it looks different. More bare. I recall there being a whole display case that held the meats and cheeses. Maybe they got rid of it after COVID. The menu was streamlined which made ordering quick and easy. They had a philly with jalapenos so I got that (full sandwich) sans jalapenos but with everything else. It took about 10-15 minutes. It was a large sandwich and it smelled lovely so I couldn't wait to get it home. Unwrapping it I noticed the bread looked really good. It was sturdy and toasty underneath my fingers. Sadly, that was the highlight of the sandwich. It wasn't a bad but it wasn't what I was expecting. It didn't transport me to Philly. But then I reminded myself I've never been there so WTH WAS I EXPECTING?! First, the meat to bread ratio wasn't good. Although the bread was good (perfectly toasted and buttery) the 3-5 inches at each end of the sandwich was bare, just dry toasty bread. The middle of the sandwich was a bit better but it still wasn't as meat heavy as I would have liked. A shame because the quality of the meat was good. But it had to compete with the abundance of green peppers and biting into a mound of that so often was unpleasant. Even more disappointing was that the onions and mushrooms advertised in the description of the sandwich was at the total opposite end of the spectrum....completely absent. I was also disappointed by the cheese. It was there, in essence almost. Not nearly enough. I recall them advertising they only used Boar's Head Cheese. I didn't see that in the shop today. Maybe that should have been an indication to me about the cheese being used here now. And somehow, the sandwich was dry overall. Sad to say, I'd pass on this. I would have been more satisfied at the other place I referenced earlier. They have a better philly overall and it was cheaper. I don't think going Tucci's for bread that's a bit better but lacking everywhere else is worth the almost $30 price tag.

    Classic Italian

The whole sub sandwiches are large... The pastrami was good and the classic Italian too. I would need to try some more sandwiches before deciding if their rating could be higher. My buddy grabbed them and brought back so can't say much about the service or ambiance yet. Until next time....

While visiting out of town we decided to try this place on a Thursday for lunch. The interior is a typical sandwich deli but the sandwiches are not typical. I ordered the 7" club and it was delicious. Loads of meat and I love their garlic mayo. My family members were all pleased with their choices. The young man that took our order was very friendly, patient and helpful (considering it was our first time).

Omguhhhhh you guys, why is this place not viral on all the local influencers' pages?!?! So damn good, you get no pictures of the sammies. Fantastic service from the guys working, great guidance on their best sellers, and daaaaaaaaamn that pastrami was bangin! Quick service time, friendly workers, excellent food... will be back for sure!! Note to future self: white bread was softer than whole grain option.

Cold subs are my passion, they are my weakness. I had literal mafia family who owned a butcher and "grinder" shop in Connecticut and I'd visit them as an 8 yr old to which they would stuff me full of food. This was the start of my love affair that still runs hot today. Utilizing YELP I've tried many interesting places around town to scratch my itch, but the surfer in me is continues looking for that perfect wave; in this case sub. Located in the Century South shopping center in a safe and easily accessible part of town Tucci's is a modest little shop pumping out good food. So, when my kids visited in July, it was on our hit list. Walking in the place isn't fancy at all, but it's clean. A few modest tables line the walls, nothing special but there again, less to distract the hunter from their prize. Be warned the fountain drinks are Main Root which means they're "like" coke products but not exactly and I'll admit better as they use REAL sugar. They also have a drink fridge with more traditional options as well as tea and monster drinks. Rounding out the sides there are an array of chips choices along with a few sugary treats to compliment the meal. The hallmark of any great subshop is first quality meats and secondly them slice them to order. While a lot of shops now slice their own meats and cheeses, few use Boar's Head. With this info in mind, even before I got there, I knew this would be magical! Next, they do bake their bread so another huge win in my book as most just proof up frozen bread which is devoid of the little touches. Finally, the owner was there and was an extremely friendly guy and genuinely excited to take my order while guiding me through what he thought were the best choices to try as I scanned the menu above his head. As delightful as he was, my benchmark are Italians subs so it was game time. I was debating where to get the Gourmet Italian vs the Classic Italian, the difference being prosciutto being added. I'm not a bacon fan and while prosciutto isn't bacon in that it's not smoked, it has a very intense flavor and will quickly overpower anything it's paired with. I proceeded to order my standard sub - extra mayo, oil, and lettuce with regular amounts of tomato, olives, onions (which are thinly sliced not huge chunks) and Oregano. Two things became apparent off the bat; first the prosciutto dominated the experience which robbed me of tasting the high-quality meats. I'll take the blame here but the second issue I had was the meat on top. As a side note, how ingredients hit the mouth affect flavor; which is why macaroni and spaghetti noodles are made from the same things yet taste different. The meat crushed the veggies so it through off the whole experience. That said the quality of everything on the sandwich were great, just unfamiliar, thus in my opinion, poorly executed. One of kids got the turkey and provolone along with mayo, lettuce and pickles. She loved the bread and ingredients but was like minded in that she hated the presentation. My youngest got the ham and Swiss with mayo, lettuce and tomato. However, she proceeded to crunch Doritos into the sub so I'm considering her well taught yet throwing out her review. Overall, they had the same experience as I did. Overall Tucci's is trying to set themselves apart and I can respect that, however the fact they're using Boar's Head IS the selling point. Throwing meat on top changes the expectation and throw off what we're all accustom to eating. So the way around this is if you're reading my review, you now are prepared. Besides that one issue I'd say they have top notch subs worthy of a top billing. I apologize for not trying a hot sub for a review but it's not my thing. My final thought is if you have a "grinder, torpedo, sub, hoggie, etc." craving this is your go to, just tell them to throw the meat on the bottom and you'll have the best experience in Austin.

the meatball sub had a little bit of a kick to it a little spicy sauce. the meatballs were a little small but was overall good. they have good sodas to choose from w real sugar.

This place was recommended by my hubby's BFF. Food was pretty good. I got the Austin club and it didn't disappoint. This late reminded me of a hoagie shop back home.

One solid Italian sandwich! I was searching all over Austin to find a good Italian sandwich, was between two places, and this did not disappoint. I ordered the 14 inch gourmet Italian sandwich which was heavy and big enough for two meals. Bread was fresh and flaky, cold cuts were thinly sliced and generous, peppers were on point and the garlic spread was a nice touch. Service was fast and owner was super friendly. They also gave us samples of their freshly made red bell pepper soup as we waited - also really good. Could not have been happier. Parking was easy and plenty of seating.

Great subs & great service! A very welcoming and low key stop for a yummy lunch. First time stopping in while we're in town, and would definitely visit again!

New favorite sandwich shop south of town, hands down! We arrived late (about 30 min before closing on a Sunday) and the team was still so nice and happy to make us some delicious sandwiches. We got 1 "whole" sandwich (which was quite pricey) because we were hungry. But didn't realize that it'd be SO HUGE that we'd make 3 meals out of 1 sandwich! Also got a half which I still couldn't finish in 1 sitting, even though it was SO flavorful and not as messy as I'd feared from a chicken Parmesan sandwich. We'll be back for many more! Great subs in south austin!!

Who would have thought an Italian red sauce joint would go straight to my top tier Austin recs?…read more Place is just legendary. Sammie's has been hyped up on social media for a long time and I gotta say it's still underrated! I will gladly have Sammie's take the Pepsi challenge against red sauce joints in NYC/NJ etc. In fact, I've told friends and family that I am going to take them to Sammie's when they visit from there. We just had such a fantastic experience - everything..the vibe..the red light fixtures and the color of the booths and the floor..the service - our server was great..loved their outfits..really had an old school little italy feel to it. The food was much better than I even anticipated - as a guy who grew up on NJ diner mozzarella sticks, I have a high bar for them and these were magnificent. And seriously...taking the "everything's bigger in Texas" slogan and applying them to mozzarella sticks?! top 10 achievements of the decade. The chicken parm was perfect - well seasoned, proper amount of crisp..the basil on top...the perfect browning of the cheese. Also the lasanga was excellent..and best part - the leftovers..took it home and the next two days put them in a small cast iron and re-heated them..and the magic was right there in my hill country kitchen! Lastly and certainly not least - the cannoli...just look at the photo below.. I'll say, yes, the place is pricey but you can really easily split these entrees and then it becomes cheaper than a jersey strip center Italian joint.
