I was recently hospitalized at Sentara Heart Hospital and wanted to provide lunch for the incredible staff. I started on Jimmy John's app, but it said for large orders or catering call store. I called the one I thought closest to the hospital. They referred me to this store. Wow!! I worked Kendall, a real live person. The pizza delivery the night before through Door Dash was a "dishaster" How refreshing to work with Kendall and get exactly what I wanted for the staff. She also carefully instructed her delivery staff to make certain this got to the correct hospital (have you seen the Sentara complex in Norfolk?). The lunch driver waited for 13 minutes for me to answer his initial text. My son and husband met him downstairs and delivered food to staff. I asked for a repeat order to be delivered at 8:30 pm for the night shift. It gets a bit difficult here because the front doors are closed at this time. Driver said he left bags outside door. Staff went to collect. Unable to find order. I text driver to please come back, pick up order whereever he left it, and hand it to staff at Heart Hospital. He did it!! A few days later I get transferred to a new unit. A call to Kendall, duplicate deliveries at 11:00am and 8:00 pm (she had the previous orders quickly available- so that was a snap). 11 am delivery went off without a hitch. 8 pm delivery again challenging, but the driver made it happen! I don't see the hype of Jimmy John's. I've had their sandwiches a few times over the last few months and I wasn't impressed with any of my experiences. I think my biggest gripe is that they don't toast their subs, nor do they even offer that as an option. In a market, where versatility is vital to success, they seem to just wanna keep it painfully simple. Another complaint I have is that they don't offer salads or soups on their menu. Worst service ever. I placed an order for catering for 60 subs yesterday and came here to pick it up... got here a little early like around 245 pm and they were still working on it. Then after 30 min they said they were out of bread and had to go to another store to get it. Then I asked if I can get a refund for the other 30 and then I heard one of the staff members (a young girl) say "so we did all this for nothing" (as if I couldn't hear her) so I said well don't be mad at me because I was suppose to be picking this up at 3pm and it's now almost 45min later. The one guy who went to get the bread at the other store called and said the other Jimmy John's was closed. My party starts at 4pm and I'm still waiting at this place at 3:45pm. This is unacceptable. Lastly the one lady "in charge" said she would refund me for my 60 subs and gave me the 30 subs that were done. So I said well what about the other box that had subs in it..can I get those since I originally paid for 60 and the one young girl behind the counter said to her coworkers "wow and she got a refund." Not to mention she was cursing the whole time behind the count the counter. VERY UNPROFESSIONAL. So of course I had a word to say to her and she wanted to tell me she "wasn't talking to me and don't get loud at her" as if I'm gonna ignore her talking crap behind the counter ABOUT ME. Jimmy just opened up across the street from my apartment and I wouldn't be "sinfully delicious" if I didn't review this first (ok... that didn't make much sense, but go with me here). They opened on Tuesday so they have had a few days to get things in order! I didn't know what to expect when I went in. Everywhere you turn, there are signs with "gourmet sandwiches" and "we deliver" and "we cater". Well, supposedly (according to Jimmy John himself on the pamphlets you'll find) these aren't gourmet by definition but just taste better than your average sandwich. Yes, you can go in and sit down. I really like how they did the inside of the restaurant. (pictures coming soon!) Their menu is pretty standard. There aren't very many "special" sandwiches that are, say, unique to Jimmy John's besides his Gargantuan sandwich (which simply is big). Their menu isn't all that extensive, but from what I could tell while ordering, their sandwiches are individually packed full of meet/veggies. They have your tuna, turkey, veggie, BLT, Italian sandwiches. They also have a low carb lettuce wrap as well. You may also order sandwiches without all the veggies (only meat!). I will add to this as I dig into my sandwich to tell you what I think about the food itself. They appear to be doing a "five guys" style place for sandwiches: ie Few items on the menu but make those few items things you won't forget. I anticipate this Italian sub I have in my hand to be something different and special. More on that to come! read more

Cousin took me to Jimmy John's after my flight got canceled due to Hurrican Sandy. I had never gone but heard about it due to WWE wrestler Brock Lesnar having the logo on the back of his t-shirts. With a Subway directly across the street, I asked my cousin what the difference between the two sandwich spots were? She said that JJ's was considered "gourmet." Ok...well I went ahead and ordered the Italian sandwich to try it out. Sandwich was good, and had good flavor. The ingredients were fresh, which are always one of the top priorities. I thought the sandwich was good, but not great. Not a bad experience though. They don't have many of these in California (Fresno being the closest to So Cal) so I definitely was happy to have tried it. read more

1st - I LOATHE giving poor reviews. Quite frankly with National franchise restaurants my bar is not even set very high but every other Jimmy John's I've been to has met a certain standard of both service and tastiness. This location met neither. Came here during later lunch hour after a vet visit next door for a simple single giant sub takeout order. I was greeted by someone seemingly manager like after a minute who started taking my order and then another worker came up to the same register, manager guy moved over to the other register but then I realized he was talking to someone else. They both seemed like they didn't know WTH they were doing as I stood there in the midst of placing my very uncomplicated order. After a minute, I asked who/if I should be giving my order to and it ended up being the newer guy to the first register. He was very quiet so he asked me questions so lowly I couldn't even decipher what he was saying. Then I fumbled to pay for my meal without being explicitly told to do so. My sandwich was made in efficient time but the female who called my order out was also as seemingly disengaged as the others. I even thanked her with no response. Unfortunately - while the sub tasted good though a little too extra oily - both my guy and I ended up with awful stomach cramps for a remainder of the day. To be clear, we both shared a "giant" sub and each only ate one half at the time. While we saved the other half it ended up in the trash after we were both ill. I love Jimmy John's but I will never go to this location again. Its a Jimmy John's. If you don't know what that is let me explain. Its a place where you can order a sub of your choosing and it will be done before you are done paying. That's really the jist. They have French bread and whole wheat. Personally if I'm going to get 'fast food' I'm just gonna go white anyway because I love eating unhealthy outside my house. The staff was friendly which is always nice when going to a new place. They were there ready to answer any question I had. They even offered suggestions (which I will put in the tip section) on what to order or how to cut something for the kids. 4 stars instead of 5 because it's a chain restaurant. However today one of their employees, who was likely off shift, as he was holding a sandwich and just meandered around the store talking on a phone with his JJ shirt on... Not really working -- but cleaning some detritus off empty tables; not really eating -- maybe waiting for someone to pick him up. I am not usually offended by the way people dress nowadays, but this (off duty) employee had his pants beltline around his thighs and his underwear were in full view for all to see, sweaty asscrack line and all, having just finished with the lunch rush, I reckon? I ignored this as bad form, as he wasn't working right? He's just a customer now right? Regardless that he's wearing the t-shirt. So then as he continued to joke and carouse with his workmates, he sullenly pulled his shirt up so any diners present could also see his awesomely hairy abs too. This was the worst experience I've had in a long time. I'm the only customer with three people behind the counter. I wanted a turkey sandwich with tomatoes only on one half and mayo only on one half - I was told they couldn't do that. Then I asked for pickles that come with the sandwich on the side - they said they couldn't do that. I wanted a cup of water to go and they said that's usually for eat-in customers so they couldn't provide a lid to go or put it in a bigger cup that has lids. I also ordered another sub and two drinks but that didn't matter. I will never go to Jimmy Johns again- Jersey Mike's would have never treated me that way and they slice the meat fresh instead of having it pre sliced like this place. read more

Solid choice for a quick gluten free lunch. The employees always greet you quickly as soon as you open the door. The people making the sandwiches are indeed freaky fast; you can see the sandwich makers listening to your order and making it while the cashier rings you up. I can be in and out of there in about 2 minutes. I have gone at all times of the day and never had to wait very long. Navigating the parking lot takes longer than actually getting the sandwich. Apparently, patrons for the Five Guys and Subway across the street are not allowed to park in the (extremely small) lot facing it and there is always a security guard making sure you are actually visiting one of the shops (like Jimmy Johns) in the shopping center. I usually get an italian un-wich (lettuce wrap) with no cheese and double meat. I consider this an indulgence, so I rarely go there unless I am in a terrible hurry. The tomato and mayo on it are delicious. I've also tried the tuna salad un-wich. It is also very tasty. On at least two occasions (two different locations), their credit card machine wasn't working and they weren't quick to let us know that it would take 15 minutes to process the transaction. We were actually charged twice when that happened (they swiped the card twice), but the charge was immediately removed when we called. I'm guessing these are isolated incidents. read more

I will never be going here again From the beginning I had an issue just from PARKING. The parking lot has some unauthorized "security guard" walking around to check where people are shopping. So I parked and he came walking up to me asking where I was going. I told him Jimmy Johns and he didnt believe me. He kept harrassing me and followed me from my car to jimmy johns! I mean seriously?!?!?! I finally went inside and then had to deal with the staff who seemed miserable. It was dirty and looked like it hadnt even been cleaned. When I got out of the store the "security guard" was still waiting for me and pretty much escorted me to my car to make sure I didnt plan on shopping outside of the shopping center. I felt extremely uncomfortable and asked for his name which he refused to give me. I called the police and reported him for harrassment and learned that I wasnt the first person to complain. JJs is my jam! Why? Because its fast! Subs are pretty good for not being toasted. Plus they offer something I cannot seem to find often in other sub shops, capicola (in their Vito). Also, their veggie sub is fantastic! Loaded with mayo though so watch out calories! This location is typically clean with a security guard always walking about in within the shopping center. In the past, JJ's has been one of my favorite sandwich places. I have been a sucker for the Turkey Tom for YEARS...until today. I don't even think I can fault anyone who made it. The sandwich looked smaller than I remember, and when I unwrapped it, it honestly just looked like a piece of bread. Yup. And that's pretty much what it tasted like too--a slice of turkey, a little mayo, a sprinkle of lettuce and some tiny, sorry tomato slices on some bread. I also ordered an oatmeal raisin cookie. The cookie was dry and literally crumbled in my hands when I took it out of the wrapper. For $7.50, I expected better. Way, way better, at least from my Jimmy. Smh. My family loves this place and we generally dine here a couple times a month. Unfortunately tonight we had to walk out. I order the ham and turkey sub, extra meat. Menu says an extra "load" of meat is $2. Never had a problem before getting extra ham and extra turkey. But tonight they tried to charge me $4, adding a "load" of ham and another of turkey. I was not rude, but pointed out I always do thisn just getting another portion of what they already put on it (I do NOT want 3 portions of meat). They kept saying if I want to pay $2, I have to choose ham or turkey. One girl, I think she wasthe 12 year old in charge, smirked and said "we can't do that." I wasn't going to argue.
