Picture this, it's NYE 2019, I of course had failed to make any plans in advance because procrastination of a thousand generations courses through my veins... I am haplessly desperate, calling venues left and right to see who has the most reasonable cover for a bar/club... One bar says $65, another says $100?! What is 2019 coming to? Then the light bulb went off... Of course, reliable ole' Jimmy O's... Ever so present and open Jimmy O's! Quick as lightning I dial the bar, and a pleasant gentleman comes to the phone... I ask a simple question "What will the cover be for NYE this year?" with a chuckle the man states the most beautiful statement a desperate NYE partier wants to hear "We don't have a cover!" With a jubilant "WOW" I told the man I would see him later that night! Jesting aside, this place truly never has a cover, has a pretty decent DJ, he plays a variety but definitely plays the hip-hop you need to have fun. The drinks are pretty reasonable. There was a time we had an open tab and some jerk charged a BUNCH of drinks to our tab (much to my frustration)... Jimmy O's without hesitation or pushback corrected the bar tab and reimbursed the money! I also love to people watch and currently the crowd is an older crowd... I love seeing the older men trying to pick up the way too young females. I can't help but laugh when the young guys are searching for their cougar! read more

I've been coming here for a while and the service from the bartenders and security is top notch. Big shoutout to Chelsea and Bryan. They always keep the vibe in there and make sure nothing crazy happens. From what I understand management switched out 4 months ago and a really bad owner got booted. Now Chelsea runs the joint and the owners are super cool. It's a really fun spot on Thursday nights for karaoke. read more

Been here plenty of times, but finally wanted to share some praise. Everyone behind the bar and in front of the bar have been awesome and incredibly friendly! Chelsea, the bartender and bar manager, has a great attitude and a really fun personality. She makes everyone feel welcome and appreciated. So do the other bartenders like Hannah, Isabella, Stephanie, etc! All the guys there are awesome, too! Chase, Matt, Chris, Bryan, and Edwin are great to talk to and hang out with on the front patio or up near the lounge. Overall, great bar, great drinks, great atmosphere. Whatever, judgmental owner , strange vibe from this historic bar that could be a better venue with the right management. Didn't try the food. Karaoke is ok, maybe it's fun on the weekends. Try the Monarch across the street. That's where the owner prefers to hang out. read more

We love Jimmy O's sports bar in Del Mar! Our men love watching sports on the extra large screens with their favorite beer, drinks, and plenty to eat. Us ladies love our favorite cocktails and the fantastic d.j.'s dance mix. I celebrated my birthday there last night and once again, we experienced love, laughter, and a great community of fun. Pretty much the best bar ever the staff and the owner make the spot! I mean so many pretentious Del Martians who think they look better than their plastic surgery they are impossible to please. Jimmy O's is so much fun. It's definitely the "locals" bar for Del Mar. Tired of the uppity Del Mar scene? This is a down to earth spot to grab a drink, listen to music/watch sports, and eat some bar food. I always have a great time here. Very Sad about this review. The crow is very welcoming, too bad it does not extend to the bar staff. Literally 3 bar tenders, and none of them cared to ask me, while I am looking at them and standing there waiting to be asked if I would like something to drink. Only reason I did not speak up this last time, is cause the time before, one of the bar tenders almost seemed insulted that I asked for a beer. Interesting enough, every white customer seemed to have a drink and got plenty of attention. Definitely felt some discrimination happening cause it was not busy enough to where I had to wait for 15 minutes to where I got fed up to just say "yo, just close me out" Supper Sad. Customer service is easy, but they just don't care to give any, at least not to me. read more

We walked over not knowing what we were in for. Then we met Jenna and had the ahi tower/ Napoleon. Fantastic! Huge pieces if tuna and a sauce to die for. Very tasty. Dissapointed in the safety procedures tonight. Stopped in and the bartender had a mask that he barely had around his neck. Grossest thing was he walked over to friends that were sitting at the bar, ate a chicken wing, and went right back to serving. Didn't wash hands or anything. Even without Covid he should not be eating at the bar with guests. He the proceeded to grab a glass for me and held it with his fingers on the inside of the cup. Plus jimmy O's is using straws with no wrapper, so the bartender with bare hands, who had just fidgeted with her mask, grabbed a straw to put on my drink. Get your safer procedures together Jimmy I'd and enforce it with your staff. read more

This place blows! I've been here 3 times for a night out with music, and the outdoor guards don't let you know there are coat hooks under the bar, and they tell you that you can hang your coat outdoors on the chairs (terrible suggestion!). I left the place, forgetting the jacket, came back the next morning and it was stolen! I don't think the average 'Sara' from Del Mar needs to steal my leather jacket....it had to be a crew member that found it and kept it. A thief definitely works there! read more

Stopped in for Happy hour on Wednesday. $ 6 dollar draft beers and great food, the Tri tip steak sandwich was moist, the gator tots and waffle fries were hot and crunchy ! very reasonable prices for an outside patio view looking right at the sunset and ocean . Made it in line, tried to get into this place to grab a drink on our vacation and we were not able to get serviced. The bouncer at the door who claimed he was the manager would not let me in even though my ID was valid and I showed him multiple forms of identification. He claimed he was 23 years old. Mind you im 27... And this was completely inappropriate and uncalled for. Not sure if this was a power tactic or what. But this was horrible customer service and I will never be back or recommend anyone to come to this restaurant or bar because of this particular manager. Really should re-evaluate management. Unfortunate because we come here often, but we will never we back. Message to the owners... re evaluate your employees. Horrible. And had cost you multiple customers. read more

Not sure if the bartender was new or pulling a fast one. Apparently Tito's is the well vodka. For well whiskey and vodka drinks- $24. $12 for a well drink. That is insane. read more

They are definitely paying for reviews. It's been a huge transition since Keith sold the place. $10 cover on Wednesdays when it is absolutely empty, especially on Valentine's Day when it wouldn't be a hot spot anyways. Drinks are overpriced, staff is slow. It isn't anything like it used to be. Also they barely have any of the liquor/drinks on the menu in stock, whether it's because they can't figure it out with the vendors or they just can't afford it. Either way it's an embarrassing shell of what it used to be. Good luck. read more

I've been to this place many of times, never during the day. I had a wonderful day there drinking with some of the most gorgeous ladies. We ended up sharing a chicken Caesar sandwich and it was pretty dang good with kind of a horseradish spice type kick and I was shocked at how insanely fast our food came out. Like I said this was a really busy place, but we couldn't have waited longer than five minutes once we placed our order. We got drink refills very quickly as well. My friend wanted to go back after the concert where we sat at the main bar. This time it was a female bartender who again was right on top of her stuff. She got our drinks right away. This time we ended up ordering some animal tots, which also came out super quick. I can see why it gets so busy here, there's a fun ambience and the service is great. Come check it out for yourself.

This place is ridiculous. I went here ONCE with a group of friends, going to celebrate my best friends birthday. We were all in a very positive, fun-loving mood when we walked in and were all pretty excited about coming here because we all had heard good things about it. As we got in I made my way to the bar to order a drink. It was a struggle getting in because it was so packed which looked like a promising night. As soon as I get to the bar, my little, 5'0 self was trying to squeeze my way into a little sliver. This one man who was taking up probably 5 spots at the bar noticed my stuggle and continued to block anyone from getting near the bar. I kindly asked him if he could move over just a llittle so I could squeeze in and order a drink really quick. He moved one inch. People at this bar were very rude and very clicky at the get go. Finally I got my drink after squishing my way near the 500 pound whale of a human being who still wouldn't budge even when i moved him myself. Shook it off and started to dance.... was having an ok time. This club is really awesome if you LOVE outdated music. WOW so much fun. the DJ sucked. They should change the name of this club/bar to the Cougar Den. Def. not the kinda place you want to go if you're 30 or under thats for sure. After the attemt to have fun dancing, my friends and I went back to the bar to order another drink. The bartender refused to let one of my friends buy a drink simply because he was "too drunk" in my opinion, he looked completely fine. I probably could have picked out a few weirdos in that bar who were way more out of control than he was. But this then led to the bald little owner coming up to my friend and basically kicking him out. GOOD TO KNOW HOMOPHOBIC ASSHOLES STILL EXIST IN 2015. shocking to me. I have been going to jimmys o's for a few years now but my most recent experience left me a bit offended and won't likely be going back. I ordered a mixed drink and then noticed that the drink seemed to have absolutely no alcohol in it whatsoever. It was only a sprite. I kindly asked the waiter to make me a new drink as I said after one sip that there is no alcohol in it. He said "do you know how stupid you sound right now". He then explained that the bartender that made my drink has been making drinks for 20 years and no chance he would make a drink without alcohol. He then called the bartender over and as he tried the drink himself he clearly realized there was no alcohol. Instead of apologizing he asked who made my drink? I said you just did 2 minutes ago, and he said he made me a drink an hour ago and that I'm wrong. I then said you've got to be kidding me I've been here for 5 minutes and you just handed me my drink. They decided to make me another drink but I could not believe being called stupid, and oddly lied about who made the drink when there were only three bartenders so it's not hard to know. Customer service should be kind and polite especially when the customer is doing so to them no matter how rude the bartenders were. Incredibly disappointed and would not recommend. read more

I have been to many a sports bar and nightclub in my life. This place is the biggest joke that has been unleashed on the unsuspecting consumers of North County. It barely passes as a sports bar. In my opinion is the worst example on the planet for nightclub. The people that frequent this place are young drunks that have no business drinking and then getting behind the wheel of an automobile and driving. Just trying to get to the bar to order a drink is a feat in itself. The rude and obnoxious people that frequent this place as well as a dysfunctional owner/staff are clearly evident everywhere you look. I went on 11/27/2015 and had more than one drink spilled on me by drunken people pretending to dance. Somewhere they got the idea to hold their drinks over their head as they walk to a crowd of people dancing on the dance floor bumping into them spilling the drink all over everyone including themselves. This place should be shut down by the fire marshal since it is clearly overcrowded on a regular basis. If I ever go into Jimmy O's again someone should check to see if hell has frozen over because I'm sure it will have. This place clearly needs new ownership/staff ! You know that one arrogant guy in every 80's horror flick? The one where you're like 'THAT'S the guy who's gonna get killed first!' Multiply that into 9 people and you've got JimmyO's Tuesday night staff. Am I being a jerk by saying that? The bartenders take a special pride in their indifference to you even when the place is empty. This lot will choose death before cracking a smile. I salute the commitment and unwillingness to break character. My estimation is that they are hired refugees from Douchebagistan who somehow slipped thru the cracks during Trumps travel ban. 50 points if you can get one of them to look up from their iphones and pull down a beer tap. The Leo DiCaprio clone with the man-bun is the worst of the violators...staring you down with a kind of mocking indifference while he reclaims your empty glass, thereby daring you to inconvenience him into refilling it. Not even the mighty motherly KJ Graii was able to to warm the cold and aloof air on a Tuesday night. God bless her. There must be enough dough rolling through this joint to justify its existence. They have $53 of my money so they won last nights battle. But who will win the War? read more

People In the past, there were cool San Diego locals, now on a typical Friday night it's very cheesy 40-50 year old -full of themselves feminist that will run your over. Dolche Gabbana and careers in audit accounting at Deloitte insulates these women from being kind and down to earth. I absolutely loved my experience at this bar! The karaoke nights are an absolute blast! The staff is friendly and accommodating, making you feel like a star as soon as you step on that stage. I had the absolute worst experience here. I witnessed a bouncer by the name of Vino physically assault and push two women in the bar for absolutely no reason. When the managers and owners were pretending to address this matter- it was very clear they were intoxicated. The new owners have since allowed this bouncer to continue to work at this establishment. What used to be a chill dive bar has been completely destroyed and tarnished by the new owners. The vibes in the bar are odd with many grown men preying on young women. Come here if you would like to experience bigots in their element, because they own the place. The space takes you back to the 60's where no one has any respect for actual human beings but focuses solely on making anyone outside of the rich community feel like they're terrorists in a sub par bar maintained by old money. If you are interested in being hit on by the most disrespectful douche bags and enjoy heinous rap music then this is your spot. Certainly an all ages bar. Every time I am there I am surrounded by 14 years olds or old men trying to get lucky. After my last outing, I will never be back. This place reminds me of the worst things about high school - same people that don't want to leave town and just creep around. I sometimes come here when friends are in town but i feel like it is always a little lame and uncomfortable running into people I just don't need to see anymore. Beers for the guys, White Claw seltzers for the wives. Prices were reasonable, lots of TVs, surprisingly clean bathroom, pool tables, just a really cool spot. Totally a 5-star experience EXCEPT. When the girls each asked for a pint glass of ice to pour their seltzers into, I'd swear that I saw the bartender scoop the ice directly with the glasses, rather than using a scoop to pour ice into them. A huge no-no. Never risk a chip of glass into the ice well. Always use a metal scoop. Our friends went the next day and said it wasn't the case with them, so I hope I'm wrong. If not, perhaps an OSHA refresher training course is needed.

TVs were showing World Cup games with no sound. There was no music. Only silence. Clearly not welcome, we left. My friend described it as "murky". He was spot on. Sad and murky.

There are two bathrooms next to each other, one clearly labeled "Women," and the other labeled as an all-gender restroom, which should be open to anyone. We got in line, and when someone came out of the all-gender bathroom, we assumed it was fine to use. But as soon as we went in, a security guard aggressively opened the door and started yelling at us. It was honestly really unsettling. He claimed it was a men's bathroom, even though the sign clearly said all-gender. To make things worse, a random person walked into the bathroom while we were inside, which made the whole situation even more uncomfortable. The security guard then blamed the confusion on the owner, saying they "forgot to put up a men's sign," which didn't make any sense given the labeling. Overall, this was one of the worst experiences my friends and I have had. The situation felt disorganized, the security guard was extremely unprofessional, and the staff didn't seem to care at all. We didn't even get the chance to try the drinks or food because this happened right away. I would not recommend coming here. It seems like they don't have things properly managed, and the experience was just awful from the start.
