I made the mistake of showing up for one of the World Cup game watches, which turned out to be a complete mess. First, we ordered food and drinks at the bar area, while the guys had difficulty explaining the choices of tacos that were offered on the menu. I gave them the benefit of the doubt, since they were busy, and I even gave them a substantial tip. However, little did I know that my big tip was the kiss of death, because everything went downhill from there... We ended up waiting over an hour and a half for four tacos, and they still didn't arrive! I kept talking to the servers who were walking by, asking about our order, and they kept reassuring me that it was on its way. Then, at the hour and a half mark at the end of the game, I told them that they either need to bring out the tacos, or they need to give me a refund. Kristen went to the back of the house and came back with the fatal news... She said, "They never put in your order." So, I paid for the food and left the guys behind the bar a generous tip, and they never put in my order?... I asked Kristen for a refund, but she said that it was too chaotic at the bar. Also, the outdoor TV kept going out, and there was no shade on a very hot Summer day. Overall, this was a horrible experience! The only reason I gave them two stars instead of one star is because the restaurant was extremely busy for the World Cup, so it's possible that they might have addressed these concerns if the scene wasn't as chaotic. First time visit over the weekend. Located away from the heart of Old Town, so I was able to find street parking. Liked the variety of seating options- inside, covered and full sun. Massive big screen outside establishes that this is definitely a sports bar. Pleasant service. Really glad I only stayed for one draft IPA because it was $9.50! We're past the COVID and minimum wage excuses. Considering how other non-touristy places are holding the line at $8 or even $7.50, this rubbed me the wrong way. The Nachos (Fresh Chips, Chicken or Pork, Cotija Cheese, Peruvian Beans, House-made H&A Salsa Verde, Sour Cream, Onions and Cilantro) are nearly as ginormous as the aforementioned screen, and well worth ordering. What's up with smashing the bun into a hard pancake both top and bottom bun? I've had better tasting smash burgers but I can get a better one at Jack in the Box and for $10 cheaper. It was so underwhelming I didn't even want to take a picture. The tator tots were awesome! Perfect crunch and spice....so flavorful! The women's bathroom is a little strange and quite frankly a waste. Two toilets set up side by side like how urinals are. This only works if 2 close friends are in there. Went for the World Cup finals game, the vibes were immaculate and for how busy it was the workers did a great job with getting everyone their food and drinks. While visiting family in the area, we all went to Home & Away for Taco Tuesday. This place is one of my brother in law's favorites. There's a nice outside seating area and pretty good bar food here. You order at the bar, find a seat and they bring your food. I had the Carne Asada tacos, my wife had a shrimp and a pork taco and my daughter had chicken tacos. These were reasonably priced at $3.50 for each taco. The place was jumping with lots of people there and the NBA playoffs on the TVs. Looks to be a good watering hole not too far from the airport. Everyone had such a good time and couldn't stop speaking about the space of the venue and the convenience of being so close to our place of employment. People were able to stop by after work and enjoy the festivities. We chose home & away so guests could park in our employee lot and catch a ride to the bar as parking is tight. It's mainly just street parking. Home & Away allowed us to rent out the patio and decorate and even have a mariachi band play. They provided a taco bar for us that was delicious ! One of my favorite sports bars to watch games at. There's plenty of street parking and they have a small parking lot in front. Love the indoor and outdoor areas. They also have heaters which is definitely clutch when it's during the cooler months. Food: my favorite are the wings and nachos. I usually get that, but I need to try the other stuff on the menu! This time around, I did order the carne asada tacos; tbh they were a bit dry and didn't have much flavor. The service was very nice and the staff is always friendly! One thing they could add on their menu is guacamole. They have chips and salsa, but no guacamole. :( My most favorite part about this bar is that it is pet friendly! Went today before mexico Korea game, I think their system stinks. I see 6-7 bartenders and 2 "lines start here" signs. You have to go to these lines to order food and drinks. There is no effort by staff to speed up process. They are just having fun hanging behind the bar while there are 2 lines of at least 6-10 people waiting to order. Thankfully they let us order to go food and we ordered the adult grilled cheese, the carbs asada sandwich, and the smoked chicken tacos. The grilled cheese was delicious. It's a mix of cheeses and has sundried tomato spread and basil on it and it was on sourdough bread. Comes with a pickle spear and fries or tots. We got fries and they tasted like skinny steak fries. 4/5 The carne asada sandwich. Comes with peppers, garlic aioli, arugula, guyere cheese. Came with fries or tots. Got tots which were crispy and delicious. 5/5 Smoked chicken street tacos (3) came with cajote cheese, onions, cilantro, avocado verde salsa. They were so flavorful and full of lots of meat. More than enough to fill you up. Came with tortilla chips. 4/5 While we were waiting we got a Home & Away Mexican Lager. Good flavor and smooth enough for a casual beer drinker. 5/5 I would go back to try and try here during normal business hours so we could sit inside the restaurant but the food was good and they made it quickly. read more

We've been coming to Home and Away for football watch parties for the past few years. They have a great outdoor patio setup with a massive screen and heaters or umbrellas to accommodate any weather. The staff is incredibly friendly. Unfortunately the menu doesn't really accommodate gluten allergies with the only option being an underwhelming yet pricey salad. It's difficult to spend 3-5 hours there on a weekend without options for food, especially when drinking. The parking situation is also difficult on busy game days since the restaurant only has about 5 designated spaces and street parking throughout the surrounding blocks is tricky. read more

Critiques would be putting umbrellas outside for game days where it is hot and crowded and making water and water cups more readily available. Water jug was empty every time I checked and cups nowhere to be found. Also the line for the women's bathroom gets really long because it is one locked door but once you get inside there are two stalls but there is no divider in between them (see photos). Honestly REALLY weird - who is this bathroom for? They should make the two toilets in the women's bathroom be two separate stalls that lock and remove the lock on the actual bathroom door. Simple fix that would make a world of difference. Overall, great bar. Just needs to make some easy updates to account for its popularity and create a better experience for patrons. read more

hello, I just want to report few problems we found on our recent visit with a party of 8. I will address each concern with a number: 1. while the waitress was courteous, she didn't check the table enough, water was constantly needed, some silverware missing too but we managed 2. you should inform client for a party of 8 there is an automatic 20% nobody told us. 3. you should inform clients there is an additional 3% for using a credit card, which is really unusual in our experience. 4. the 3% surcharge for using a credit card is really ridiculous. because it's part of the business if you want to offer clients the possibility to pay by credit card, in addition don't say "to help paying for credit card charges", obviously if you want to accept cc you need to pay the service, why charge us? it's like ho by the way there is also some utilities to pay because now they increase their service, rental increased too so clients need to help 5. a 3% for cc usage is also kind of high. I do websites with shopping carts and i have never seen a cc charging that much per transition. ok there is an annual fee and some credit card charge few cents for transaction but putting 3% to help cover these fees (which should be on you anyway) is simply ridiculous. 6. if you are struggling then You need to review your business and make adjustments and Not extra charge clients for your lack of business management first all these reason i will put these concerns on reviews and we certainly won't use your restaurant anymore in the future. Been here a few times. Four times to be exact. Three times at night when they are closing up shop. Came each time on Thursday-Friday-Saturday night. Usually within the last two hours of them closing down. it's usually quiet and super chill. Twenty people at the most with two bartenders and one barback working. The fourth time I came here was during a Chiefs playoff game and it was packed. To the point where you couldn't find seating if you arrived within one hour of the game. I've had a handful of their food here. Spicy Thai Chicken Wings, Wedge Salad, and Shrimp Nachos. The Shrimp Nachos were my fav of the three. It was a nice blend of sauce, cheese and toppings on it. It also helps that there was a really good amount of shrimp on it. Their beer selection has a lot of craft beers on it and ones I'm not too familiar with. There's a lot of IPA's and light beers on it which aren't my fav. I prefer dark beers and they only have one or two. I did have a nice sour here and a lovely cider. There's two bathrooms inside which by the end of the night is pretty nasty. But there are a few outside which I don't think people really notice since it's tucked away in the back corner and those are much more better. The sink to wash hands are outside of the bathrooms so you have to look for it and you get to call out people who leave and don't wash their hands. For when it's packed there are many spots to sit inside and outside. Maybe I didn't notice or maybe it's special because for the game but I feel like they have additional seating that they roll out and repack away after game days. There's a bar inside and outside for game days. Forget about parking in their lot. They have maybe 8 spots. And because it's in Old Town parking is always going to be tight. I usually have to park and walk 5-10 minutes. Four stars because this spot can be both a place to get lit and be in good company when the game is on or for you to just kinda have a drink and be out but not be overcrowded during the late night hours.
