Not sure where to start here, but whatever you do.. DO NOT GO HERE, ESPECIALLY FOR BOTTLE SERVICE. First, they saw we were coming from a wedding so they jacked up bottle prices, THEN our waitress started drinking straight out of our bottle!!!?! Literally cannot make this up. After she took two separate swigs, she proceeded to say some of the rudest things someone has ever said to my friends and I, to the point to where I started video taping it because it was so bizarre. Only able to give a 4 star at this time because- we didn't have food. Met a date at Jimmy O's on a Wednesday night. Parking was a lil hectic (for me) so I parked in the garage after multiple passes trying to find a spot. The bartender did advise that after 6 the 2 hour limit isn't an issue. Nice atmosphere inside. Plenty of seating to sit at the bar. Attentive/friendly bartenders. Street level outdoor seating, indoor seating facing the TV's Upstairs seating. Not sure what time the lights seemed to dim and the disco ball came on... I haven't seen a disco ball in a while! LOL (OK I am usually in a dive bar) It made it a little more romantical. Locals seemed to wonder in and sit at the bar for some banter with the bartender and get their grub on. Would love to hit them up for happy hour sometime. Waitresses are nice, food is great, cocktails are good. But shots are garbage. Got charged $40 a shot for 3 shots of toquilla (Herradura) 2 people including me in my party thought that it tasted watered down. Literati tasted like they poured half a shot and the rest water. And we know because me and my girlfrienddrinn this type of toquilla a lot and it did not taste the same. Definitely not going back and I wouldn't recommend this place at all unless your trying to get ripped off. Jimmy O's is disgusting. It is poorly run and bartenders do not wash their dishes correctly. My cup had a cut into the glass which means I could've cut my lip-- lucky it was my first drink and I noticed the chip. How dangerous is that? My lime had mold I could have got sick. Man, I just don't see the appeal of this place. Went on a Friday night, and people are so packed into this tiny space, that literally everyone is just standing side-by-side, packed into the building. My husband and I were celebrating our anniversary last weekend and flew in from out of town to enjoy this amazing area like we always do. We decided to go out on the town and read reviews about how this bar was open late, had a dj and the late night atmosphere we were looking for. Everything was great until we were asked by a bartender if we were paying cash or credit. I wanted to pay cash but she said it was easier to just put my card on file so we could have an open tab. Made sense so I give her my card and at the end she gives us the tab and I pay cash. All is well and good until the next morning I'm alerted my card has been used with unusual activity. She charged my card for the same amount I paid her cash with. I'm now disputing charges and have been without a debit card for days because of this fraudulent charge. Jimmy-O's is a decent sports bar located right in the heart of Del Mar and actually gets relatively crowded on Friday/Saturday nights. This place is essentially a restaurant by day and pseudo nightspot on Thursday-Saturday night complete with DJ and full bar. The food here during the day is pretty much just average bar fare, nothing spectacular. By night, the drinks served are rather stiff and the bartenders are extremely busy yet still somewhat friendly. Overall, not my first choice but it is literally one of only a handful of nightspots in Del Mar. OMG it's a club at night! Comedy Central ok so i've been here a few times in the past for afternoon drinks, happy hour, hanging with friends who are watching a game. This bar is so strange! This was the second time we visited and between the two experiences we have come out with some funny stories. Jimmy O's is definitely home of the well-off cougars and rich couples looking for some fun. I swear my boyfriend and his best friend were fresh meat hanging out in there because these women were loving up on any young dude that was there! It was hilarious. My boyfriend's best friend also got hit on by a COUPLE and when he turned them down, they moved onto me. So strange! Overall, a fun place to go for people watching, they play good music, like 90's and early 2000's rap and hip hop. The drinks are a little over priced, but not insane. Wouldn't say this place is "amazing" at all... In fact I'm not too much of a fan. The reason? Not because the food or drinks are bad -- but because of the service. I have yet to meet anyone friendly or remotely friendly that works there. The bouncer I had was a typical a-hole and the bartenders were pretty cold to me. The young, blonde waitresses seem to be 20-something year old girls who are more interested in their boyfriend drama than their customers. Won't be coming here again. For a sports bar, their televisions suck. They had a lot of them but they didn't have high definition and the tvs were small. We saw orange glowing balls for the Netherland team. Honestly, everything was fine (other than the terrible food) until the owner called. After that phone call, the employees became rude AS HELL. Some literally yelling at customers to "get out" after they made a last call. My friend didn't even get to finish the drink he paid for. He also got yelled at for going to the bathroom BEFORE 11pm. What the hell? A drunk dude can't even take a piss now? I guess he'll just do it outside next time. If you're going to make a last call at 10:50pm and tell us we have until 11pm, don't start booting us out the door at 10:55pm after we just ordered another drink. AND, if you're going to kick everyone out - kick out the employees that were also there as customers. (Funny how they got special treatment when everyone else was getting swept out the door.) You have to ask yourself, "why am I here?". It's not for the food, it's probably not for the people (unless you cougar hunt and in that case cucina is down the street). The obvious answer it is the only late bar in Del Mar and there's nothing else in north county that is open late with the exception of the few even divier places. Solid 3.5 star place- decent little "dive" bar in Del Mar. I have been coming to Jimmy O's for YEARS. Usually the last stop of a night out in Del Mar/Encinitas area. Bartenders are always on top of things. Can get a little crowded, but usually super fun people. I came in today for some Charger football. Rolled in around half time and there was one seat left at the bar. I bellied up and was immediately greeted by the bartender. Grabbed a Stone Delicious (one of the better IPAs out there on tap) and asked for a menu. I ordered the 1/4 lb beef Chicago Dog. Took a while to cook. When delivered, was warm at best and the tater tots were a tad soggy. Oh well, it was all decent. Was happy to have bar food. Their menu has some better options to choose from. Staff was attentive from the time I arrived til I left. Beer was cold... draft selection is limited, but as I said, they had a beer I prefer. Prices were not "cheap" ($9 for the dog, $7 beers) but you are 3 blocks to the beach and in one of the wealthiest zip codes in the country. So I say prices are very reasonable. Parking can be tough...be very aware of the rules. They ticket a lot in Del Mar. Look forward to coming back soon. read more

Jimmy O's was not what I was expecting. Having just moved to the area, people were continually recommending that my roommate and I should go to Jimmy O's in Del Mar. It is super close to where we live, so one saturday night we decided to go check it out. Pros: -Amazing bartender. We became instant BFFs with one of the bartenders who, after discovering that we had just moved here, proceeded to make us VIP customers all night long. He even put our purses behind the bar as the bar became more crowded! -DANCING!!! This sports-bar-by-day turns into a rockin dance party around 10:30 pm on weekend nights. They feature a rotation of local DJs who do take requests. -People watching. Jimmy O's draws a pretty diverse crowd from both near and far... so if you go be prepared to meet people from many many different walks of life. It was totally hysterical and amazing! - A HUGE variety of drink choices. Between the different types of liquor and beer options, the bartenders really have mad skills. Cons: -Super crowded. As the night went on the bar really filled up and the suddenly all the seating disappeared. -Lots of spilled beverages on the ground once the dancing really picked up and no one really attending to it. So, make sure not to wear your fav heels if you are a shoe lover like me! - Parking in Del Mar is never easy so a taxi is recommended. -VERY loud & kind of random music. Made for funny conversation though. Overall, the night was a success and I'll definitely spend another weekend night at Jimmy O's. It was not the classy, upscale Del Mar bar I was expecting but it gets 4 stars for the all-around hilarity of the night. Stocked with 15 tv screens, if it ain't on, it is not being shown. The food menu is limited ( it is a bar) but they offer a big selection of tacos including lobster, bison, filet, fish, duck & lamb! My roommate and I decided to go out last night and she suggested Jimmy O's. Despite living nearby, I had never been and am always eager to check out a new spot as that equals a new Yelp review! When we first arrived, we were told to take a seat anywhere. We chose one of the comfy booths facing the bar and were quickly greeted by none other than the owner. He asked if we were over 21 (and being 28 and 30, we appreciated his question) and offered to buy us our first drink. Awesome! We later found out that shortly before we got there, two groups of 15+ had arrived. This explained why the owner instead of a waiter was helping us. While it took awhile to receive our food (a salad and fries), we were so busy catching up and enjoying our margaritas that we barely noticed. The waitress was very apologetic and even comped our entire meal. Needless to say, we were quite impressed with the customer service and left a nice tip.
