Havent been there in a while and it seems as though the food quality and execution has nose dived while the price point is equal to premium restayrants with far superior ambiance. Chicken parm ($35) was extremely bland as if there is zero effort by the "chef" to layer flavors to create a decent marinara sauce. Chicken fried chicken ($36)was the equivalent of a "Hungry Man" tv dinner...dry and bland. Food is carelessly thrown on plates and pushed out. ZERO justification for pricepoint. Server was nice but had shoulder length hair that he repeatedly ran his fingers through on the dining room floor. $18 dollars for a skimpy chocolate tart desert served half melted. This place has lost its way...too many options at that price point. This is what happens when chef owners turn the kitchen over to cooks.......will never be back...fleeced! read more

I had to write another review because this restaurant is so damm good. It is by far the best restaurant on the Ave or even in Delray Beach. The food is consistently excellent and the service attentive . The shrimp ravioli are so good, the fish is super fresh and the duck is always cooked perfectly with a delicious Asian sauce. There is not one thing on their menu that we haven't raved about. As full time Delray residents we love this neighborhood gem. Mediocre over priced food in a small venue. Not the type of environment where you can kick back and relax. After living in Delray for a couple years I finally made it here. It turned out to be a pricey disappointment. The rigatoni bolognese wasn't much of a bolognese...where was all the meat? It's a meat sauce not a tomato sauce. Without asking there was Parmesan cheese sprinkled on top which I didn't want. The De Cecco pasta was obvious which I thought at $26 it would have been homemade. Yes, $26 for store bought pasta and tomato sauce. I'd love to prepare them a dish of my bolognese. I don't recommend this place. 3 stars because it wasn't horrible but it just didn't deliver the price tag associated with it. Note to the owner...you should have a separate toilet for your staff. Someone from the kitchen staff destroyed it just before I entered. Buy some air freshener spray. These are the two things I remember from my mediocre meal. My new favorite spot on the Ave. This place is so cozy and small but the food and service is great. We stopped by on a Thursday there was only one other couple there besides our group of 4. Our server brought us homemade bread- so soft and very warm. It is addicting. We noticed there are no menus. Instead it is written on a chalk board at the bar section. It is pretty big so you won't have a problem seeing it. For started we ordered the Roasted Beet & Goat Cheese Salad. This comes with romaine lettuce and pickled onions. This by far is my favorite salad. The goat cheese was warm and the beet was delicious. For Entrée my friend recommended the Housemade Ravioli- she stated it was the best she had ever tried! Good thing I took her word for it! It was amazing. It was my first time having chicken ravioli. It also has mossarella, ricotta, and fresh tomato. The combination is the best. I could eat several bowls of this delicious entrée. I am not huge on dessert but good thing we saved room. We ordered the strawberry tart with fresh ice cream. It was the best. This place is hidden but definitely worth checking out. You will not be disappointed. read more

This is a nice intimate, off the Atlantic Avenue restaurant that serves high quality food. The only issue is that the prices are high and the servings are small. For example the shrimp ravioli was $14 and there was only three small servings about the size of a half dollar. They were excellent, but one person in my party of four got shafted as I for sure grabbed one. The dinner is written on the board and I had the short rib and it was also very good, but was only two small pieces. The deserts are only two options and the strawberry tart was to die for....seriously, I may come back just to get desert here as it was that good. The seating is tight here and the service seemed slow, but that did not detract from the experience as the food was excellent, just priced high for the location and size portions. read more

I would love to love this place. It's small and intimate and offers the opportunity to eat some really amazing cuisine. Nothing here is amazing. Good? Yes. Pricey for what it is. Service misses the mark a bit unless you're a regular, it would seem from my sporadic visits. Instead of feeling like a welcome guest in someone's personal space, it's more of a 'why are you worth our time?' vibe. The parking is a nightmare. It's not near easy or good places to land. It's a wine and beer licensed restaurant. If it was in a small town, it'd be a big wheel restaurant. Here, in crowded Delray, intimacy could mean hidden gem, but here, no. Go to Bamboo Fire, different food, but same size. Vibe? Totally different. Warm. Family. The food is a decent meal. When I go out, though, I expect a bit more. read more

Jimmy's Bistro looks to be a cozy dive--but in reality it's anything but that. First off, our dishes was 25-50% higher than what was shown on their website. The half duck was delicious, but the accompaniments were meh--white rice and a handful of steamed green beans. At $48 we're talking fine French restaurant, not a cozy dive. Even scarier was $19 for the lettuce, beet and goat cheese salad. Although the salad was fine, and the duck itself excellent, it was simply not worth the exorbitant prices. read more

Was hoping to find this restaurant to be cozy and inviting. Instead, found all tables and chairs up against each other, so tight and cramped as we squeezed between seated guests to reach our 'reserved seats' at the bar. The server was cordial, however, the blonde woman assisting appeared to be unhappy with her duties, which reflected on her service skills. Unfortunately, the blonde woman's lack of customer service skills distracted from the exquisite entrée and cappuccino we enjoyed. Our choice of appetizer was unfortunate; the dessert was quite good. Rick and I cannot say enough about our experience at Jimmy's Bistro last Saturday night. We are still talking about it. The intimate atmosphere and local clientele was simply delightful, as were Julie and Peter who bring color and familiarity to all who enter this charming culinary jewel. We began with the pork and shrimp dumplings and the ceviche, both of which were the best we have ever had. Julie recommended the " fresh off the boat" Snapper which we had over grilled as asparagus, it was amazing! Julie suggested that we pair our entree with Deerfield Cabernet Sauvignon, a beautiful full bodied blend. We adored it, and took the empty bottle with us so that we could always remember that very special meal, and so that we never forget that wine. This is one of my favorite restaurants in town. Started w ceviche w eggplant chips that was amazing made w local tilefish. Also had conch fritter again delish. The waiter recommended the ribs which were overcooked and did not enjoy the sauce however my friend had the duck and that is always a good choice there. I have been here twice so far and it just gets better every time. The food is amazing and there are such good choices. You know it's a great place when there are so many things you want, it's hard to choose -- and no matter what you choose, it's delicious! I have food sensitivities/allergies that I was not aware of during my first visit. During my second visit, I had to be very specific with what I wanted. The chef altered the dish to perfection!!! So talented!!! They were not only so accommodating and discreet but they also put me at ease (because I felt so bad and somewhat embarrassed to have to ask)'. My boyfriend and I went to Jimmy's last night for dinner. Our entire experience was 10/10. Our waiter, Pete, was super attentive & friendly and gave recommendations on wine, appetizers, entrees and dessert. I had the salmon which was incredible- the fish was cooked perfectly and the combo of the sauce & sides were to die for. Every winter I come down to DB to visit family, and every year they take me here. I really enjoy their food, and I cannot say there is anything on their menu I havent thoroughly loved. The duck is a must have, the schniztel is excellent, the daily fresh fish is great. I had the oxtail ravioli this time and it was well cooked, balanced and not oversauced as most restaurants do. The restaurant is small, more intimate, which my family and I love, and its not noisy like most DB go-to restaurants. The only reason I cannot give it 5 stars is for their wine list. It's as if they are, to use the right adjective here, indifferent. The selection is nearly zero, its like they dont drink. Its not that hard to stock a quality restaurant like this with 20-30 quality wines. Throw a wine flight in with one of your dishes, say the duck. You'll thank me. Love you guys! read more

Went on Saturday night, small cool place. The food was the best we have had in the month we have been in Delray Beach, dumplings & ceviche appetizers were outstanding! Roast duck entree was the best duck & have ever eaten, shrimp fettuccine entree was a 10 as well. Only a few steps off Atlantic Ave (yay), on Swinton (ugh), This venue seems better suited for a dive bar than playing Johnny Come Lately to the farm-to-table theme. Nice servers saved this place from one star rating, but no menus? Really? The food left something to be desired as the empanadas could of been from Costco's freezer section and both the entrees (steak and pasta) were a little boring. Verdict - Unimpressive and over priced. My fiancé and I have been wanting to try this place for 2 years. Every time we would walk over Jimmy's was closed! Lol..we never called of course so eventually 2 years later we got wise and decided to call before we headed over. The woman suggested that we make a reservation and so we did. We arrived 15 minutes early and saw that 1 table was open, set for two...they were otherwise packed but ready for us which made me happy from the beginning. I had kind of hoped that we could just slide in at the bar but it was occupied by a young couple and also by a family with two or three small children (note to self, if you want to sit at the bar maybe call and ask for reservations at the bar? Not sure if they take reservations at the bar but it's worth a shot) The bread was awesome, service was nice...my fiancé ordered the Shrimp Etoufe which he liked but wouldn't order again. Dan, Kelsey, Kristin and I dined here last Saturday celebrating a personal milestone for Kristin and left very satisfied. Everything I tried was above average. Starting with the beet and fried herbed goat cheese salad, I knew I was in for a treat. My main course was the Chicken Cacciatore which was devine. Others had a decadent looking tomato bisque, ravioli, and a highly remarked flank steak. For dessert, we had a 2nd bottle of wine and casual conversation. I can understand why some reviewers complained about seating space (as compared to the more spacious commercially owned restaurants on Atlantic) but it really didn't bother me. I guess I prioritize the food when I go out to dinner above most other dining attributes. Charming, great food, and quick service earned Jimmy's a high place on my list. Try it! read more

Perhaps it's off season but this restaurant did not impress me at all. I started with the zucchini flower dish, stuffed with - wait - I forgot. It wasn't memorable, but the sauce underneath was colorful and a bit spicy, which was nice. Then on to the shrimp etouffe. Boring, to say the least. Shrimp a bit overdone, sauce was bland, rice cooked well however. The wine was a stinker, but at $42 a bottle, I suppose you don't get much. Service was brusque. But also brisk. Ha ha. But the place had only three tables with customers, so that should be expected. The decor is funky but something didn't smell quite right on this night. Carpet needs cleaning? I dunno. There is art on the walls that is also being featured in a gallery nearby, that's always cool. This place is funkier and so is its menu than the typical run of the mill fare in much of Del Ray, but it isn't worth a second trip. read more

One exceptionally good little restaurant... and with only 8 tables we do mean 'little'. Just opened the end of last year, everything is totally fresh and well prepared. There is a limited wine listing, but it gets the job done, and prices are outrageously fair. Seafood is wonderful.. the Paella and Seared Snapper are personal favorites. Everything is tasty and well presented...not fancy...but nicely done. We had pork schnitzel and chicken fried chicken tonight...both enjoyable. Prices are not inexpensive and they serve only wine and beer. They are extremely well organized and handle a packed house virtually every night with skill. I don't normally do reviews, but when the place stands out from the rest, you just have to say a few words. So the boss takes me to this little place, and as soon as you walk in you kinda get that feeling of Cheers, it's warm and cozy, nice size bar and it's menu filling the entire wall. Quite the choice of foods I actually had the Hanger Steak, medium rare, and it came out perfect, what a flavor. The bread and olive oil and garlic was also very tasty. Julie, one of the owners/manager was simply perfection 360, catered to every guest, the smiles never stopped, which was a statement of pure bliss. The kitchen crew seemed very happy to be there as the meals kept coming, one after another, each just looked better each time they came out.
