I've eaten here several times before, but tonight was honoring my 100% Italian deceased husband's birthday. Christopher V was an excellent server; he was attentive but not intrusive. I had the Rigatoni Bolognese, which was plentiful and delicious. My friend had the meatball, which she thoroughly enjoyed. The atmosphere was very pleasant until the music started. It was a little loud and interfered with the ability to have a conversation. But, he was excellent! This restaurant is moving shortly to Federal Highway, so check before you go. read more

I originally tasted them from the Boynton food and wine festival and couldn't believe how delicious it was and had to come in and try more. They have a happy hour menu even on a Saturday! I was pleasantly surprised. One of their best pasta is the beggars purse that sauce was so good I used their bread to dip in the sauce. The zucchini fries have to be the best I've had. The eggplant parm was good too, i honestly thought it was chicken at first. I only wished they had their orange salad, but I came to learn it goes on menu only once in a while. We all brought small bills as they don't divide the check for happy hour groups. This family owned italian restaurant began in 1993 as a small neighborhood pizzeria. They have beome a full service restaurant with a bar, handcrafted cocktails and live music. The menu contains Italian classics, fresh seafood, steaks & house made pastas. ​ Happy hour is daily until 5:00 and after 9:00. It's served until 6:00 at the bar, high tops, patio & back dining room. Wines are $7 to $9 while cocktails are $11. Pizza's are $13 or $14 with a wedge salad at $9. I like their short rib meatballs, eggplant parmigiana, rigatoni bolognese, with the shrimp bada bing as their signature appetizer. Tim and the staff took fabulous care of all of us. What's better than happy hour at Josie's? Summer happy hour with even better pricing on the already-super food and drink menu. We went with a large group and were able to make a reservation during happy hour. And the server kindly provided separate checks despite the menu indicating otherwise. That's great service! In fact, the service was excellent throughout our visit, and thus my upgraded rating from 4 to 5 stars. The happy hour menu is quite extensive. The summer deals will be ending very soon, so if you want a draft beer for $3.50 or a house wine for $5, stop by Josie's sooner rather than later. The regular happy hour drink deals, including $10 cocktails, will still continue though. We enjoyed several items from the happy hour menu, including a tender chicken parmesan, penne ala vodka, a tasty prime short rib meatball, amazing eggplant stefania (stuffed with angel hair pasta and covered with marinara sauce and mozzarella cheese), margarita pizza, and a wedge salad, which included bacon, tomatoes, onions and a terrific bleu cheese dressing. All of the food was delicious, and the portion sizes were good even though these were happy hour offerings. As the menu indicated, the food was brought out as each item was prepared rather than all at once. The upside is that everything was hot and freshly prepared. The downside is that the food was served piecemeal rather than as an entire meal. I was satisfied with this approach though. The restaurant was pretty crowded on a Monday night. As we enter "season" it will no doubt get even busier. So make a reservation, if possible, and stop by Josie's for happy hour or even for dinner as they also have a nice selection of chef's specials in addition to their full menu. read more

Great Italian restaurant in east Boynton Beach. My biggest recommendation is to order the "Beggars purse" - a pasta dish with raviolis stuffed with pear, four cheeses, and truffle, with dried tomatoes in a delicious cream sauce. It was amazing and a must-try if you like truffle. The parking lot in this plaza is a nightmare, so I suggest getting there early. They are located near the water tucked next to Prime Catch and the large apartment complex. Josie's is on OpenTable, so it's easy to get a reservation using the app, which I recommend. The food is ok, 2.75 the margarita pizza has no taste but after salt, pepper, red pepper flakes and Parmesan it was pretty good!! We had the calamari eggplant parm and bang bang shrimp. Calamari was a bit over cooked and heavily breaded so that pretty much all you tasted, same with eggplant, shrimp were much smaller than a previous photo, not really spicy. The location that is east and just over the bridge from A1A is convenient for me and that brings me back but I'm not sure the restaurant warrants a trip for those traveling further. The predictable Italian-American food on the last two visits were just okay with a sauce on two dishes being overly sweet and missing any depth. Having only ever done Josie's fur takeout, I was excited to finally go in person but yeah, no, not so much... Parking is an absolute nightmare here. The spots near the restaurant all devoted to valet spots stared by the nearby Prime Catch. We had a reservation and were seated right away, which was great, but our table was the only one with no silverware setups. Our server seemed new, or at least untrained, but very friendly, even if not overly attentive and since we were out for a good time, things like no setups, water spotted silverware, and chipped bread plates were let go. The food was really, really good and it was almost, probably would have been, enough to salvage the evening but then it was ruined by the cheapness of the restaurant. When the two older ladies at our table asked about splitting a plate of pasta, we were informed that it would be a charge of $5.00 for an extra plate. When we asked about bringing in our own cake for dietary restrictions, we were informed it would be $2.50 per person for them to provide a small plate and a fork. This after ordering multiple appetizers, cocktails, and full meals. Finally a credit card processing fee of $2.86% of the entire bill is added on. Whoever the cheapskate was to make these decisions, please know you are part of what's wrong with the South Florida restaurant scene. You have a beautiful restaurant with delicious food, but you've just lost a half dozen customers for life. read more

Hate to start off on a bad note, but unfortunately this experience missed the mark. The food overall was nothing more than average. When we walked in, we waited about two minutes before anyone even acknowledged us. Once a server finally approached, he asked how many people were in our party with little to no enthusiasm and seated us without saying much. That same server ended up being ours for the night, yet he never introduced himself or mentioned any specials. We ordered cocktails, which we eventually had to remind him about because they took so long to arrive. While the appetizers were actually very good, the main courses were a huge letdown. The pizza was extremely dry and gritty, and overall just unpleasant. The server never checked back in with us, and service continued to be so slow that we ended up going to the bar ourselves to order dessert and ask for a to-go box. We left $12 on a $180 tab, which I truly hate doing, but the level of service simply wasn't there. Probably won't be returning. We have boated to lunch several days and enjoyed every lunch until today. We had two salads that were both excellent [ up to their usual standards. All week I looked forward to Eggplant Stephania, my favorite dish. Today it was a terrible disappointment. The center was cold, the fine pasts stuffing was dried ot on the edges and cold in the center. This dish lacked freshness because, at least according to the server, it was part of a batgch that was made early in the day and partially reheated for my order. Later, after conferring with the manager, came back and "explained" that every dish is made fresh "today." Afive star eggplant dish is made fresh, served hot, and fully flavored. I enjoy dining here when it is off season and the locals can eat a meal without all the crowds. It doesn't matter what time of year, reservations are highly recommended. The food is well prepared and served hot with the usual Italian condiments on the side in a basket. The garlic rolls are delicious but they are not complimentary. Offered to charge my phone for me even though she was extremely busy. It's soooo hard to find great customer service these days. So lovely to not have a robot waiter/waitress. I was actually spoken to and felt normal being alone and in casual attire. The owner should be aware of these two special employees.
