Wow!!!! Just got back from Jimmy's after having an absolutely wonderful meal and experience. The mood and food are truly amazing. Started out with an arugula and pear salad and Jimmy's famous tomato bisque. Both were incredible... I'm not a big tomato bisque fan but this was truly an incredible soup served with a pastry top. Followed by a sampling of the homemade fresh pasta as well as amberjack sashimi dish... both incredibly tasty. Our entrees were roast duck and snapper - both served with basmati rice and fresh veggies.... outstanding. Desserts included strawberry tart and an outrageous banana dessert. The service was phenomenal and Jimmy was very warm and inviting!!!! A true gem in Delray Beach and now ranks in the Top 3 restaurants we have experienced in Boca-Delray area. read more

Really disappointed. Duck which I've had before was dried out. Fish was fresh but not particularly delicious. Desserts consisted of two different fruit tart offerings. Too bad we can never go back to Jimmy's. We have gone to Jimmy's for the past three years every time we stay at our house nearby. We went their two weeks ago and I was hit in the face with a wall of ammonia smell. The smell was pungent. Since they were out of tile fish, we left. We returned the other night and we were greeted with the same pungent smell of ammonia. I sat down and asked the lady seating us if the cleaning crew has been using a new cleaner or something because this was the second time that I left sick upon arrival from the noxious fumes. She sad that she that only works that front of the house and doesn't know what goes on in the back. Not really the customer service answer I was looking for. I was hoping for somethlng like, "I will leave a note for the owners or cleaning crew and mention that the cleaning chemicals are strong". I told her that whatever the change, it's been since early December because we came 4 times in early December and this wasn't an issue. She looked at me with a blank stare and asked if we were staying or what? There was no concern that I felt sick from the fumes in their restaurant. She couldn't careless. I have to say it was one of those cases, where her lack of concern and bad attitude drove us from the place. This lady has been at Jimmy's a while and I have to say that she is alway has a dour attitude. I know that the owners are opening a new place, but I hope that they read this and fix things in Delray, starting with firing that lady. Since then I have done some research. The lady at the restaurant said that the cleaning crew uses Fabuloso. I have found out that that recently changed the formula for Fabuloso and people are getting a bad reaction to the fumes. This incident has forced us to go to other restaurants in Delray, I can suggest Dada and Joseph's wine bar. read more

We just tried Jimmy's Bistro based on a Yelp review. It was as good as predicted. We had a delicious dinner, absolutely nothing could be improved on. Jimmy is a fantastic chef and Peter was a great waiter. The Tomato Bisque and Mozarella Fondue were great appetizers. I had the Lobster Ravioli as a main course and it was fantastic. My husband had the Shrimp Etouffe and wolfed it down. The Strawberries with Homemade Biscuit and Vanilla Ice Cream was to die for!! We can't wait to go back. It's small so call for a reservation. Jimmy's is a unique and special intimate restaurant. His ever changing menu delights the palate every time we visit. Julie Is terrific working the front along with Kelly. Third time and still a charm. Here is a wonderful neighborhood restaurant always preparing market fresh ingredients in to intelligently prepared dishes. Charming, small, sometimes noisy but all somehow adds to the charm and experience. Just had fresh linguini prepared in a squid ink with fresh local caught seafood. Wonderful! Signature dishes stay on their blackboard menu (try the tomato soup, ribs, bass, chicken ravioli) but with enough interesting additions for repeat visits. Living in delray you have lots of choices for dinner. If you have not been to Jimmy's you are missing out. Jimmy the owner is one of the nicest people I have met in town. As a year-round resident of Delray Beach we have always enjoyed our dining experiences at Jimmy's. We loved the food, service, and atmosphere since the first time we came in 2012. So, we were really looking forward to it again last night. When we walked in at 6:50, the lady greeted us with "Your reservation was for 6:30." We were sure that it was not, but just let it go. Our reservation was for the bar area, which we always enjoy. She said to sit at the two corner seats of the bar, which was great. As my husband sat down the seat of the stool slid off to the side. The diner next to him said, "Yes, that is broken." He exchanged the stool with one that was not occupied. As we were discussing an appetizer to order from the chalkboard, another lady (co-owner??) approached us and told us that when the two people at the end of the bar were seated at a table, we were to move down. Ok, we let it go. She approached us again and said that the two were seated and to move down. She mentioned that we were late. Hmmm??? My husband said that it was ok to move, however he did not want the stool with the seat that was not attached. The same lady said, "That's ok. Someone else will sit in it." Really??? Don't quite understand why she would seat someone on a stool with a seat that was not attached, instead of removing it as a responsible person would do. Needless to say we left. read more

Best kept secret of Delray. Everyone is extremely friendly. Cute yet friendly vibe- it's almost like having dinner at a close friends house because it is so intimate and welcoming. The duck is absolutely incredible I would highly recommend it! I don't even like duck and it is one of the best things I have ever eaten. I always start with the tomato bisque and you should too! There's no place like this one... Food: Incredible cooking, with a menu that changes so often it's written in chalk. It's not merely that everything is above par but that the menu, as a whole, is wildly eclectic. Jimmy is fast becoming an artist. Ambience: Tucked away, it's not a scene and it's not supposed to be. The drink menu is limited to beer and wine. Come here for a quiet evening or with a small group that knows cuisine and watch Jimmy cook from your seat. I'm not kidding. Prices: This the best part. Prices here are more reasonable than any comparable cuisine on the Avenue. Jimmy's closest cousin in terms of cuisine is 32 East, but Jimmy tends to include one or two entrees on his menu in the high teens to low twenties and prepares dishes that are way, way, way more unruly and rebellious. Bottom Line: If you want great food, a quiet evening, and a truly improvised culinary experience, Jimmy's is a top choice. read more

I am a 20 year local and this was my first time coming to this adorable little private restaurant off of the Avenue. Not sure if it was the owners who were helping me but there was only one waitress and one man floating around and they were both super accommodating and nice. Food was fantastic.. lick the plate good... Zucchini florettes, haven't seen that in a restaurant on the Avenue.. ! Our first time here, it was early only a couple people there. Cute place, we just wanted to have an Appy & a drink. Sat at the bar, had the caprese salad & 2 glasses of house wines, total of $47! We like to support small businesses especially when snowbirds go back North. I'm sure it's great food, but the folks serving & taking orders weren't too friendly either. I loved finding this little place just a few steps south of Atlantic and Swinton. It is an eclectic and cozy with its own personality. It has a classy flair. The staff was engaging. Food was prepared fresh and fast. For the prices paid portions are small, but I think they are also not serving you produce bought at ALDI. It was mid afternoon, so there were no issues with surrounding guests, but I could see how the restaurant could get noisy as the tables are very close (something that the owners could solve easily). An alternative, if go to this restaurant when you are in the mood to engage with new people. The location may be great for groups but if on a budget you might want to check first. I am not yet a fan, but I will definitely visit this place again. read more

NO! If the front of the house is any indication of a good restaurant this place gets 2 thumbs (and 2 big toes) down. Man o man...arrogant, rude, etc. etc. Made a reservation for my wife and I for her birthday for a Monday. I made and confirmed my reservation so it wasn't as if we just dropped by. Then they try to stick us in the musty smelling hallway leading to the bathroom. Um um, no. I was very polite and asked to be moved. The fella seemed sort of surprised we didn't want to be shoved in the corner, let alone near the bathroom. After 10 minutes of deliberation and fiddling around the host said he couldn't seat us anywhere else and it wasn't going to work. We said, "Really? It's my wife's birthday, there's nothing you can do?" Our man might have whispered an apology, although I don't think I heard it. So, nothing: no offer of maybe saying "You know I'm sorry. How about coming back next time and we'll give you a few appetizers on the house or something?" Nothing. I got the feeling it was more my fault for wanting to move. Hey, guys guess what? We're Delray locals and live here all year round. Yes, even in the summer. Maybe that means squat to the people working here. I understand having a small restaurant and limited seating, but how 'bout not taking parties of 6 or 8 then? Did I also mention they've been rude more than once over the phone? Tried (and rather late on my part I admit) to get reservations 2 or 3 times before this and get some arrogant attitude over the phone. My wife had this same experience several more, separate calls. Can't review the food as we didn't eat, but BS like this would not make it worth it. Looking at the costs on the blackboard, you're paying well over $100 for 2 and that's before drinks. BOOO!!! We enjoyed our dinner here immensely & the staff was super friendly. Great fish & interesting app selections. Be sure to make a reservation, even though they may look empty, they manage their bookings carefully as not to overwhelm the kitchen. It's just off the main drag of Atlantic but love this gem. Tucked away on a side street in Downtown Delray, you will miss it if you don't have the exact address typed in your GPS. An adorable, petite space serving whatever is listed on the chalkboard that night. I was not impressed with their housemade mozzarella, it could have come from a grocery store prepacked container. The zucchini flowers were beautifully presented and the flavor was rich. The chicken milanese's skin was crisp, crunchy while it remained juicy and tender within, finished to perfection. My tablemate raved about the mussels, but, reported the hanger steak as being mediocre. Dessert options are usually scarce with only two options tonight. We went with the banana tart encased in puffed pastry and topped with vanilla bean ice cream. Good choice, but, I have had better sweet treats. read more

One of the best hidden gems in Delray Beach. It's a great little spot run by a chef owner/operator (Jimmy) who has true passion for food. He makes his own fresh mozzarella from scratch which is amazing. Everything coming out of the little kitchen is fresh and made from scratch. I enjoy sitting at the bar and watching them work in the kitchen. If you are coming with a big party make sure you make a reservation as it is a smaller place which adds to the great atmosphere of family and friends. read more

Dinner here Saturday night. The place was packed. But it is very small. Reservations are a must on the weekend. Service was excellent. The server, Julie, recommended a great Chardonnay to go with our apps. We wanted three glasses but she told us to get the bottle, almost the same price as three glasses. Thank you Julie ! We had 2 different salads which were outstanding. I had the stone crab which was good, but not great. I guess I am spoiled by Joe's. Good portions, enough to share. The main courses were perfectly done and again very nice portions. We had the rabbit, again Julie's suggestion, the duck ( great crispy skin ), short rib and the shrimp etouffe'. Kudos to the Chef on the presentation too. They served the 6:30 seating pretty much all at the same time but everything came out hot and beautifully presented. Kudos to all. Poor service, very loud. When I sent back an overcooked meal it appeared on my bill. When I asked the owner to remove it he refused

My mom and I were in town for a few days for an event. Saw a lively looking place near our hotel, but it was booked. Walked further and ran into this place, which looked lovely, but it was also full. The waiter was very pleasant and offered one of the two outdoor tables. We ordered the tomato bisque, a salad, the tilefish and a strawberry dessert, with prosecco and other nice glasses of wine. Everything was tasty and beautifully presented. When a cook came out to serve a dish, he noticed that the table was a little wobbly when he put the dishes down (something we hadn't noticed at all, even though we'd sat at it a while.) He took a look, went in to get something and fixed it immediately. Later, we took a better look at news/magazine articles about the restaurant posted in the window, the nice fellow who fixed our table was none other than...Jimmy! Since we spent a lot of time where the event we were attending was held, we only got the chance to sample a couple places in this area where we stayed. But I'd wager that this Bistro is where you can get one of the best meals around. And on top of that, the service was great! Dishes came well paced and we didn't feel rushed. Our waiter and Jimmy were poised and friendly, even though they were so busy with customers (who seemed to be mostly local) constantly filling tables as they opened up. read more

Unfortunately, Jimmy's does not many health options. Great that they are not like a corporate restaurant where servers come around and constantly annoy you with, "Is everything alright?" I love the food here. I think the Chef is really a star. His attention to the whimsy, fun, delicious menu is exciting and I'm happy they are located in Delray. I give him great credit that he prepares homemade pasta regularly, very few restaurants do. The menu seems to reflect local purveyors, and a star Fisherman in the area, which is fun. The waitress there though seems like she doesn't like working there and is less than welcoming. But, the food's worth it. The sound level is great, not too loud, yet there is a fun trendy buzz vibe. Here's the good and the bad: Excellent food ( I had pompano my husband had the hanger steak) and it was very nicely presented in a restaurant one could consider either "cozy" ( I saw that in another review) or, what I would say was just TOO crowded with tables jammed too close to each other. Oh, sadly, just awful service- it took them forever to come over and take our drink order, they brought two many salads, the entrees took forever & it took a very long time to get someone's attention to give us our check. We had been there once before and had a very pleasant experience, but after this one, especially since the meals are costly, we won't be there again. And, when we went to get our car, we parked in an empty lot for Magellen ( that is closed at night) and a guy driving a car started screaming at us that we parked in a valet area and next time we would get towed.
