Eating here reminded me of being ten years old and just learning how to cook. My signature dish back then was quartering potatoes, boiling them with absolutely no seasoning or butter, frying bacon until the smoke alarm went off, carefully chopping onions and peppers, then piling everything on top of the potatoes with a half cup of shredded Great Value cheese and letting it melt together. I would proudly look at the result and think I had just invented fine dining. Apparently Jimmy's Egg has hired ten year old me as their head chef. The difference is that ten year old me was doing it for fun in my parents' kitchen. Here I am paying over $12 for someone to call the exact same thing a "skillet." About halfway through the meal I genuinely wondered if I had COVID again and lost my sense of taste, or if the kitchen simply believes seasoning, any seasoning at all, is optional. Food and service are always great. Sometimes I have the eggs and pancakes. Sometimes I have the traditional breakfast or the garbage breakfast. I have never had a bad meal. The toast is "toasted" on the grill, not in a toaster. Wish it was actually toasted but that is the only area I would like to be changed. Coffee is really good also. read more

We were very pleasantly surprised by the amount of menu options. Lately is seems anywhere we dine for breakfast we are given very limited options for something as simple as toast and rarely if ever is there more than grape and strawberry jelly offered. Jimmy's Egg allows you to choose healthier and lighter options such as tomato slices and cottage cheese instead of a potato side and a full spectrum of jelly options (orange marmalade, blackberry, as well as the standards). The restaurant was clean, light fixtures, windows, window trims, tables as well as condiments supplied at the table. Staff made regular rounds for drink refills and management was visibly keeping an eye on operations. We definitely felt our meals were a good value and will be back again. read more

After wiping the seats down she proceeded to then clean the table tops. Nothing like having somebody's ass smeared all over the table your eating on. Plus, she used the same rag on every table. We love Jimmy's Egg and go there often, but today we went and they were full so we sat at a table in the back, the only table available. After two waitresses looked over at us and frowned, we were then told those tables were closed. There was no way to know the table was closed. So we did the only thing we could do, left. We will not be going back. I suggest going to the Jimmy's Egg on Broadway. They also were full but found a place for us to eat. I feel that just looking at us and frowning was not very polite anyway. And if they do not want customers using a certain table, that has chairs, menus, jellies, and all the things there that they should mark that table somehow. A well established local chain, Jimmy's Egg has nothing to prove. It does however like any old friend have it's faults as well as redeeming characteristics. Overlooked high points include their homemade toast. Faults include their dense and very unfluffy biscuits. The gravy is just right and chicken fried Steak is adequate. I always enjoy their crispy hash browns. Their menu has some interesting and landmark choices including their "Garbage breakfast." The service is usually efficient and friendly. I absolutely love this place. They are so busy but most of the waitresses are so friendly. There is one old hag who is short hateful and always gets the order wrong but you can tell who she is and just call back until one of the young lady's answers and they will get your food perfect. I've been going to this location of Jimmy's Egg for about 9 years now. This location is, hands down, the best one in the Edmond/N. OKC area (and I've tried them all). It has been my family's go-to place for breakfast on Saturday and Sunday mornings for years. The food is delicious. My eggs are always cooked perfectly; which, apparently, is difficult since I like them over medium. The bacon is always perfect, cooked just long enough to be completely done but not too hard. Their homemade breads are just fantastic. The wait staff is pleasant and friendly- they make you feel like family. The building is immaculate and was recently remodeled; so all of the seating, flooring, tables, and booths are brand new. The restrooms were also redone and are very clean. I love Jimmy's Egg... at the other locations. Not sure why this joint CONSISTENTLY ruins hash browns. We keep coming back about every 4-6 months, and the results are the same mushiness no matter which server or whatever special instructions I give. BTW, at the NW 39th & Portland location they don't need to ask me how great hash browns are made they just do it everyday. Our waitress was a cool lady. We met up with the in-laws for a breakfast on Saturday morning which we know from experience that there may be a wait...there was. We got seated quickly though as the in-laws arrived before us so it took about 5 min or so. The service was good not excellent but good and the food, well it wasn't bad but it did not push Jimmy's to a 4 star place maybe because I just ordered the traditional breakfast but one good thing is they do give you enough food to fill up the biggest stomach including, ham steak, two eggs, hash browns, two biscuits and a large side of gravy or as I like to refer to it, Oklahoma mayonnaise. I love the chorizo breakfast - I always replace the tortillas with a different side though! I do enjoy the food, but their wait area is kind of ridiculous. There's no host/hostess there to take names so everyone has to police each other. An older lady was about to get seated after immediately coming in (I think there were maybe 6 groups in front of her) and a family had to stop her, saying they were there first. Just awkward, it shouldn't be up to fellow patrons to tell people that. Also, the wait area is basically non-existant so people are crammed around each other waiting to be seated. read more
