The cheese curds were my favorite, followed by the fried mushrooms, with the onion rings coming in third. Those were easily the standout items on the table. My mom wanted a chocolate malt, but they don't serve malts, so she ordered a chocolate milkshake instead. It ended up being much icier than expected--almost like a Wendy's Frosty rather than a thick, creamy milkshake. If you're expecting a traditional diner-style shake, you may be disappointed. Nothing was bad enough that we wouldn't eat it, but nothing besides the appetizers really stood out either. We've always enjoyed Boomerang Diner and it's been a regular Sunday spot for us, which is why this was especially disappointing. Unfortunately, this is the third time our order has been incorrect. The toast wasn't toasted, sausage was replaced with undercooked bacon, and most concerning, my daughter's meal included egg after we requested it be omitted due to an allergy. We still enjoy the flavor of the food, but the consistency and attention to important details--especially allergens--really need improvement. We did not have the most pleasant experience this last time we were here. First we were told by a server we were not able to sit at the booth bc it was reserved for a big group. No big deal - we chose a table instead. But a group came in after us and they separated the table connecting to the booth so they can sit at the table. So we asked another server if we were able to sit in the booth and was told why not? We sat down and ordered our food after wiping off the table and seats bc there were crumbs everywhere. It was a busy evening and we waited almost 30 minutes for our food. First, the bacon was burnt and our toast was missing. They did bring us a basket of unburned bacon but toast was still missing after we finished our plates and after we mentioned it to 2 different servers. Finally after mentioning to a third server, it was served. I understand it was a busy night but how long does it take to toast your bread? Boomerang diner is an old restaurant that has good following clientele with a lot of nostalgic keepsakes for viewing. I love trying out different types of dinners. At this dinner pay attention to the menu because burgers and sandwiches are served la carte. When ordering a sandwich/burger the server will ask you if you want French fries or other tasty sides. I ordered a patty melt, onion rings and a cup of chili. My hubby ordered the Ruben sandwich and fries. The cup of chili turned to be a bowl of lukewarm Ma that could not melt the cheese. The patty melt beef patty was very dry the bread was not grilled. The Ruben had very little corn beef. The fries and onion rings were average. Went to the Boomerang Diner in Bethany tonight. We were seated at 4:30 pm. At 4:45 a waitress came to our table to take our order. At about 5:05 the couple that came in ahead of us and another couple that came in after us got their food. This whole time we saw the waitress talking to other customers, messing with her phone going to the back where the kitchen is. At one time during our time there we saw what must have been the cook and the two waitresses go out the back door for about 5 minutes before they came back in. You can see the back door from where we were sitting. We ordered chicken fried steak and breaded pork dinners. How long does that take to make. They were not busy. Counting us there were people at four other tables. When 5:25 came around and we had still not got our food we got up and left. It appeared there was no management there to run the place in an orderly manner. The last time we were there for breakfast it took 45 minutes to receive our food. We live close by but had never been to this eatery. We ordered their nacho tots which are made with real cheese and real bacon and plenty of it. No shortage of jalapeños either. It was nice to actually taste everything in the dish. I had the Rueben sandwich and hubs had the patty melt since it was half price burger night. My son and I went here for breakfast and the lady instantly had an attitude. My son wanted to sit at the last open booth so we went to sit there and didn't realize it was dirty till after we sat down and I looked up at the server and she was shaking her head at us like it was an inconvenience for us to sit there. The husband and I wanted brunch omelettes today and went to Jimmy's Egg only to find them packed. We were going to go to Denny's when I remembered there was a Boom-A-Rang Diner down the street. Off we went to Boom-A-Rang to give it a try. Upon entering you are greeted by an Elvis Presley statue & oodles of 50's & 60's decor, which I LOVED! We were greeted & told we could sit wherever we liked. It was quite busy this rainy late morning. We sat & our drink order was taken promptly. The waitress was smiley & friendly & seemed to be enjoying her day. She came back with our drinks and took our food order. We both got the western omelettes with hashbrowns & wheat toast. After a short wait, our food was served and it was piping hot & delicious. There wasn't an over abundance of food, but just the perfect amount. Everything was tasty & flavorful. The check came and it was reasonable. They don't have a huge selection of food items which, to me, means it's a great diner establishment that isn't trying to get too big for their britches. One wish I have would be for them to offer shakes & malts, but that's just my idea of 50's diner fare. In short we will be returning. We were impressed and full of delicious food. read more

Updated review: Typically we like Boomerang really well... typically. Went in tonight and it was so hot!! We decided we'd just order to go, because there was no way we could eat in that heat. We ordered chicken bites and the hot hamburger plate. We got home with it and it was still warm. The chicken bites were pretty good but the mashed potatoes had a weird aftertaste. The hamburger plate came with salad,(which I emphasized no cheese), and mashed potatoes with brown gravy. The gravy had a gross taste to it. I couldn't eat any of mine as the gravy was on everything and they put cheese on the salad. Very disappointed in Boomerang this trip. read more

Went to boomerang for all you can eat on Catfish on Friday night, for the first time. We were very impressed with the excellent service provided to us. Every table/booth was full for the hour we were there. We had a little side salad (excellent) catfish, hush puppies, mashed potato's & gravy. All very good. Ate here yesterday 2-12-19. To start these 3 stars have nothing to do with the people. They were fantastic, friendly, and professional. It has more to do with the food quality. I ordered a omelette that was supposedly to contain ham, tomato, onion, and green peppers. The ham looked like it had gang green the tomatoes used did not get the top crust cut out and there were no green peppers at all. Wife had a salad and the chicken fried steak. It was ok, (I had a bite), however she said she would not go there again. The atmosphere is set in the 50's with music playing over speakers not too loud, and tons of Elvis photos and other stars from that era and models of 50's cars all around the diner.
