    Shrimp & Oysters PoBoy
    Susan B.

My neighbors who are originally from Galveston recommended this place so we had to try it. The seat yourself sign was out so we chose a table by the bar. Very casual atmosphere. The menu has a wide variety of selections. As an appetizer we got the Crab Balls which had a good flavor. Tried the shrimp & oyster PoBoy for lunch. The batter on the shrimp and oysters is so good, fried to perfection. Way too much food!

Disgusting frozen fried shrimp. What a joke!

It's my fault. I don't look carefully enough at the photos to realize that the shrimp and onion rings are probably frozen. Nothing hand battered. And the food stunk like they haven't changed the freeze. The hushpuppies smelled like fish from the grease. Spending $80 for three people to eat lunch was ridiculous. You are right by the Gulf of Mexico. And you cook frozen shrimp. I asked the little guy behind the counter if they are selling frozen shrimp and he confirmed. This place is a joke!

My mom and her bestie always come to this place and I was with them this time and I have to say I was pleasantly surprised at how great it was. The food was really, really good. The service was quick and friendly and the restaurant was clean. My mom and I got the salad with the raspberry dressing, grilled chicken and breaded Brie cheese. It was fantastic. I highly recommend it. The flavors went well together and everything was fresh. I can see why they keep coming here!

Shrimp Salad Stack (small, happy hour portion)

A few of us went for happy hour, based off a referral. The atmosphere was great. Food was good. Service was okay. Our waiter was young and still learning and he tried really hard. I would definitely go back, if for nothing else, for the shrimp stack. The drink happy hour is lacking. It's beer, wine or wells... but it's until 7p so that's good. The food was good. Coconut shrimp and calamari were okay but the shrimp stack was good. Only 2 crostinis for the tower was a little disappointing but it was tasty.

Boudin Balls- the homemade sauce was amazing!

Well...when we arrived it was empty which of course makes you wonder if the place is any good. We walk in and were immediately greeted with smiles. Our waiter was Ray Vaughn who has the sweetest accent! He was attentive and helped me with a slight issue that I was fine with the issue, but he was willing to go the extra mile. The food was all amazing and we will be coming back again. Don't let the lonely parking lot fool you!

I love the original Shrimp N Stuff, so I knew I would be a fan of their downtown location, too. There is ample parking available, and the service was great. Everyone was so friendly. I am a big fan of their grilled fish, and the combo was excellent. I got an extra bag of hush puppies and they were a little too greasy for my liking. The kids' boxes were an extremely generous portion. Family friendly atmosphere. We will be back!

After reading multiple reviews and comparing it to other local seafood restaurants in Galveston, we knew we had to go. We were seated with my Service dog, no problem. Mike immediately came and delivered water. It was hot outside. The decor is inviting and the bar area looked well stocked. We began with cocktails xtra Dirty Martini with hand stuffed blue cheese olives and for my husband a Maker's Mark bourbon . This gave us time to look over this incredible menu! Seafood is what we came for so we ordered 2 sharable items: soy, ginger octopus on crispy wonton and roasted beat walnut and fried goat cheese salad. We could have stopped there completely wowed. Both if us love Texas Redfish and it's so hard to get fresh seafood where we live so that caught our eyes. Husband ordered blackened and redfish over mushroom risotto and French style green beans. I could not resist a similar item blackened redfish over mushroom risotto and asparagus. We both were over the moon with the meaty blackened redfish FLAVORS! Risotto was perfectly cooked al dente and both veg choices were the perfect accompaniment! Honestly it had been a ling time since we had such a beautiful meal. Service was outstanding and he even picked up on a comment by my husband encouraging me to order whatever I wanted given it was a birthday dinner. So I was completely delighted when Mike showed up with the final surprise a Creamy NY style cheesecake. So I guess what I'm trying to say is this place was outstanding. You could not go wrong with a decision to have a great experience and upscale seafood meal at BLVD SEAFOOD.

That being said, it had been some time since I've gotten some proper fish-n-chips. I had to remedy that. Especially since the BBQ fiasco the other day, I was going to go on a hunger strike, but once I made the sign, I got potato chip fingers on it and started to eat it. So, I decided to fight fire with fire, and figured I would eat myself happy again. Which I'm never mad about. Sometimes I make myself angry just so I can eat myself happy. And now, the rest of the story. I have learned that I enjoy Cod fish for my fish-n-chips. And I think also Haddock. I am not a fisher nor a fish. So it's hard for me to say. But I know Cod is one for sure. I also sometimes have baby mouth and am afraid of new things. I do know I love my fish battered and deep fried. I also know that Shark Shack had good reviews for their fish, so, that was all I needed to hear. Plus, it was a perfect little eatery with bar seating, table seating, and gifts! So you can bet your bottom dollar tomorrow I ordered the English fish-n-chips. Boy oh boy. Just like how Britain colonized all those countries back when it was the cool thing to do, these fish and chips colonized my taste buds. Respectfully. This plate came with FIVE logs of fish. FIVE! Maybe they were tubes of fish? Honestly, I don't care what shape they came in, they looked perfectly crunchy and perfectly brown and perfectly fish. The super cool extra bonus? These fish came with CRISPIES! I've only ever seen crisps with fish from Long John Silvers, whose fish is probably as far from Cod or Haddock as legally possible. I actually think one of my pieces of fish from there had shoelaces. Didn't matter. Still ate it. Respectfully. (If you aren't privileged enough to know what fish crispies are, there little batter pieces that fry or fall off the fish as they cook. Basically little crumblies. If you make a wish over a fork of them and get the forkful in your mouth without dropping any, your wish will come true). Homemade tartar sauce was good, but there was a certain flavor profile that I wasn't a fan of. It was still good to use on the fish rods, it just tasted a little too much out of the tartar sauce field for me. The meal was wrapped up nice and tight with lovely square-cut fries. Perfect doneness. Perfect Ketchup vessel. I could just stare at a pile of them all night. Mostly because I'm weird. I decided to lean more toward the 4-star side, so here we are. While in Galveston for a quick weekend getaway, we wanted to go out for dinner. Katie's was my first choice, but the wait was too long, so I pulled up Yelp to see what else was recommended. Shark Shack had great reviews, and when we arrived there was zero wait, so we went for it. The one area where I docked a star was the service. We were seated immediately but waited quite a while for our server to appear, and then even longer to get our drinks. I was so excited for a margarita, but when it arrived in a plastic cup, I was immediately disappointed. Plastic cups are for the beach and nightclubs, not a restaurant with a bar. And that's not where the awful drink experience ended -- it was so weak and just not good at all. Our server seemed so disinterested in everything: taking our order, answering questions, and when it came time to pay, we had to wait ages to see him and wave him down. The food was decent with no major complaints. It wasn't "blow your mind" amazing, but it was good. The owner -- well, I assume he was the owner -- came and spoke to us when he found out my husband was military, and he was really nice, friendly, and very supportive of the military community, offering a very generous military discount. That definitely raises the rating and is much appreciated, so thank you. Overall, the big fixes for me would be the service and the drink situation. I can't say we would rush to come back just because we love Katie's for the service, food, and drinks..

And the fried pickles were hands down the best I've had anywhere. I'm not sure if it was the ranch, the pickles themselves, or both, but they were incredible. For entrées, we had the salmon and the gumbo. We were so full from the appetizers that we didn't eat much of them, but both were excellent and I would absolutely order them again. The Old Fashioned was also delicious, with an interesting flavor that tasted almost like brown sugar--perhaps from the walnut bitters. I highly recommend this place. Price was not a consideration for our date night. Problem number one was there was no oil for the bread, then we were asked if we wanted any rather than them kindly bringing it out for us. We would need the bread because with a reservation it took over an hour for the food to come out. After taking a ten minute walk to the seawall, the wine had finally arrived, ridiculously priced. By the time the food came out, it was nothing you could find any place else. My wife ordered the sampler platter, and it was bland and frankly just not very good. It came with a large portion of rice, I guess the wanted to fill you up on rice. I just ordered a Greek salad and a dozen grilled oysters, after asking for Oysters Rockefeller, they said they didn't have but it was quite identical. Yes, it was the off season but it was horrible. They delivery boy even failed to bring a fork for the oysters. Again, this is after waiting for an hour and $164.00 later, it was far from what I had expected at that price point. I don't like to leave "bad" reviews, but this is a matter of fact. It should have so much better. I would have picked the San Luis.
