Don't go there I was not impressed and had to keep taking my car back to the shop. At first I wanted to believe that Matt knew what he was doing he was very convincing but he kept my car for days with no improvement and kept charging me for parts I didn't need they also recommended that I buy a sub frame which I didn't need. I spent nearly 2000.00 for my car that didn't get fixed. I ended up going to Family Motors which took care of everything and they didn't charge me nearly as much as I paid for a front wheel alignment that left me with a car not safe for the road. I'm only giving 1 star because they were good at convincing me to spend money I didn't have to give away. Shame on you. read more

I've been needing a wheel alignment for my car for a while now, so last week, I googled different locations in Stockton, and came across this company. I scheduled an appointment and today was my first time going here. The receptionist who greeted me (I should've gotten her name), was welcoming, friendly, and professional. After completing the service, which was excellent by the way, the technician explained what was done and recommended that a get a new tire. He, like the receptionist, was also friendly and professional, and very knowledgeable. I'll be returning to them for my future vehicle needs. Super rude ! Asked if they could do an alignment and he asked why? I told him I just had the front end completely rebuilt and put brand new tires installed. I said it has a 4 inch lift and he kept going on about cheap lifts and what problems I was having. I told him I have had the truck for 13 years and has 6 sets of tires with no unusual wear.i had. The front end rebuilt because of the miles and asked if they could do it. His EGO and customer service is terrible. He the said I was rude and to go somewhere else and hung up without quoting me. What else did he need to ask? Again, completely rebuilt the front end with dealer parts and brand new tires no historical problems in 13 years owning the truck. Just read the other REAL reviews. They charged my boyfriend $700 to replace some brake pads (2) and rotors (2)... AND claimed the vibration problem the car had was due to broken axels... went to a real mechanic (well really just a tire shop with awesome workers) and they confirmed the axles were fine. My mechanic retired and I was in the market for a new trustworthy shop. A friend of mine recomended this place and so I decided to give it a go. I called them up a day before to get an estimate and to see if they provided the service my vehicle needed. After a few back and forth phone calls all went well I and dropped it off the next day with an appointment. It came time to get the vehicle so I stopped by to finalize the payment and so on, but once I was up there they informed me that they weren't able to do the full service I requested. They informed me that they recommend for me to take the vehicle to the dealership. Now here is why I gave them 3 stars. They weren't able to do the full service but instead took it upon themselves to complete certain items that came included with my original quote. It sound like there's no issues right? Well that was my main and only issue because now not only did I have to pay them for their service (which they did provide and deserve compensation ) but I had to take my car to the dealership and pay them an additional cost to do the original service which include the parts that were already replaced by this shop. So basically I ended up paying almost twice the $$ by paying two separate shops. No one ever contacted me to let me know or give me the option to either continue with what they could do or just decline the service since they couldn't do my original request. Overall it's customer service and communication is key especially when dealing with final decisions of services. read more

What a disappointment, this shop just about ruined my brand new truck. They installed a leveling kit on my truck, 25 miles down the road the rear springs blew off the axle at about 50 mph which caused the truck to go out of control, nearly had a head on collision. Matt the owner/manager would not take responsibility for his incompetence. The dealership had to repair the truck at a cost of over $2000. WARNING- STAY AWAY. read more

For many years now, the crew at Jim's has been taking care of our vehicles.They're professional, easygoing ,honest ,thorough and always willing to accommodate. If something is pricey, they will offer an alternative fix for a lesser cost without compromising the quality of the repair (bet the big automotive guys won't do that ), and they're FAST! There has also been times they've offered to repair things I'm sure aren't part of their normal gigg, but they know how and have been willing (i.e tears in the seat). I was referred to this shop by Bruce's Body Shop( Tammy & Bryan) and was very impressed. I just purchased a used Cadillac CTS and felt the car was running well. Since it has over 100,000 miles I thought maybe it needed a tuneup. I called Mataga for a quote and they stated $525.... I felt it was way too high and contacted Tammy. She told me to call Matt and see if he could help. It was vibrating n what I thought was needed was a tuneup. We agreed to run diagnostics on it to find out no problems. The car needed the motor mount replaced and cost would be around 800-900. Smart thing to purchased an over priced extended warranty! Matt handled all the specifics directly with the warranty company. Within 2 days all work was done , I had only $100 out of pocket expense n the car is running smooth. This shop has my business moving forward & I will highly recommend! read more

Great service, people and a professional job. One of the pro's to Jims is that with other shop they call me and notify me of a problem and want me to call around and find the parts (like I have time for that), but Matt calls me with an estimate already prepared and a price of parts and labor. I was referred to Jim's Alignment because of America's Tire on Pacific. America's Tire unfortunately damaged my wheel by stripping the stud and misplacing my lug nut. I came in at a frantic time and was unsure of the employees at this location. When I was referred here I thought it was just for a lug nut, but the guy said my stud was completely stripped. I was shocked and confused. And he could have definitely told me in a less extreme way. I though he was trying to get me to pay for something I didn't need. So my "don't get jacked' radar went off. I called America's Tire to confirm the repair and they said he was right, I do need a stud replaced. I did come in at a busy time of day, and like all other places of business, employees and or staff are more so on edge during these peak hours of the day. The next morning was completely different. Everyone was come and one of the managers even offered me a donut. Instead of my repair taking two hours, they did it in about half an hour. I would love to give this location 5 stars but I am not sure how much everything cost and in comparison to shops around the area. So my 4 stars is primarily based on service. I also noticed this shop heavily worked on vehicles for the federal government, such as postal trucks and police cars. read more

Just picked up my car that has been there for 2 weeks. I was not in a hurry to get it, so I didn't mind the wait (although there was no communication from them. I had to call repeatedly for updates) . The car was being sold and it had been detailed prior to taking it in for heater repair. When we picked it up, there was grease all over the carpet and the inside was completely covered with dust as though they had left the windows down outside. I was there waiting for my car to be serviced and I overheard a conversation. A elderly man was discussing how he had been coming to this establishment for over 45 years .. Well as I was checking out with Matt I asked about having my car maintenance done. I was told they could do all of my car maintenance.. I was fed up with Honda charging all of the overpriced fees for their service. They will offer items that may not be needed just to get your money. Here is just 1 amazing example of the service that I have gotten from Jim's. I needed an oil change, air filter, and cabin filter per my maintenance indicator. I was told upon checking out this morning by Fred " you didn't need the air filter.. you only needed the cabin filter " The total bill $102. If I would've taken my car to Honda.. 69.99 oil change and air filter /cabin filter $ 109. I saved over $100 using this mom and pop down to earth and honest establishment!! I have treated like family since I became a customer there. I recommend them They are closed on the weekend to give their employees time off to spend with their families. I left my car there for service and before starting any work they called me to explain the issue and how much it would cost. Upon working on my vehicle they encountered another small issue and called me again to let me know and the new price which only increased by about $30. Fred was very nice! When I went back in to pick up my car, I was treated with respect. He even showed me the issue with my old brake pads and the piece he had to replace. Their service was great! I've taken several of my cars here to Jim's Alignment (AKA Jim Holland Alignment) several times, and was very favorably impressed each time. Partly because they used to get the job done right the first time. But apparently that is all a thing of the past. I took one of my foreign luxury cars there nearly a year ago, to repair some damage to the driver's side front wheel bearing and replace the rotors and break pads on both sides of the front of my car. It job came to approx. $900., if my recollection is correct. But they didn't do the job right at all. The brakes kept making a loud squealing noise! And the left part of the axle kept feeling loose, and grinding. So I had to take time off of work to take it back there a second time. I wanted a different mechanic to work on it the second time. Unfortunately, the owner insisted on having the same clueless mechanic kid work on it the second time. The owner promised that if it still wasn't right, I could still bring it back and they would make it right, under warranty, even if it was 6 months or a year later. (Wasn't it Einstein who said "The definition of insanity is to keep doing the same thing over & over again, and expect different results."?) But after getting my car back for the second time, the front brakes were STILL loudly squealing on both sides, the axle and/or wheel still feels loose on the driver's side, the driver's side is still making a grinding sound, and I see axle grease all around the inside of the front driver's side wheel well!!! I do not feel safe on the road, even on an old country back road. And they have been dragging their feet on letting me bring the car back under warranty. It was about $900 worth of work, and it should have been done right the very first time! This is basic mechanics, not rocket science! To say that I am very disappointed would be a major understatement of the year. read more

Thought I was happy with their work. A few months ago, I had the front end aligned after buying new tires. I noticed at the time they tore the stainless caps off two of the lug nuts. I didn't think much of it, until today when I had to change a tire. The lug wrench (wheel nut wrench) doesn't fit the the lug nuts with the stainless missing. Image my delight at trying to find a way to get the offending nut off. The std lug nuts take a 3/4" socket. The broken ones take an 18 mm. If they'd have told me they broken the two lug nuts and it would be a problem if I had to use the lug wrench, I could have fixed it right away. Then while looking inside the front wheel wells the plastic inner fender shield was only held on with a couple of the little plastic fasteners, it looks like each side takes 15 or so. On the passenger side, it was cocked around, trying to fall off. They didn't put all the fasteners back, or get new one if they had to destroy the old one to get them off. Really sad that they couldn't tell me about the broken fasteners & lug nuts. Were they afraid to tell me because, as a customer I'd expect to get my car back in as good or better shape than it was when I gave it to them? Everyone said they were the best in town, my god what are the worst like? As of today, I have all new one piece chrome lug nuts. Monday I'll go to NAPA and find some fasteners for the inner fenders. read more

I normally do not take the time to go on yelp and write my opinions and actually this is only my second one ever. But this place was worth the time to review. My Subaru legacy's brakes randomly locked up on me on the freeway only for them to work again. Confused and panicked I looked up shops on yelp and had come across Jim's. I called and Jim answered right away i explained the problem over the phone and asked him how much they charge to diagnose. Jim had told me that he was not going to charge me to look at the car,this never happens and my boyfriend and I are a young couple with not many funds, so this was heaven sent. I was unable to get the car into the shop until almost close time so i was told that my car would be kept over night. No problem at all. I called early the next morning to check the progress, i was told that my car was not locking up so they were waiting to see if it would lock up again so they could better diagnose the problem. A couple hours later I was told that my vehicles brakes were not locking up so they could not diagnose the problem properly without charging me and arm and leg. I was told if the problem became more frequent to come back. My boyfriend and i went to pick up the Subaru where Jim so kindly showed my boyfriend ( who never had a father figure to show him things) what to do if the brakes locked up again. He showed us how to loosen pressure and said if it does then its most likely a master cylinder. He even did computer research on my car to try to figure it out. However, unlike any other mechanic said he wasn't going to charge me for that part if that's not the case. I tried to tip him a couple bucks but he refused kindly. shops usually see a young couple and try to rape my pockets, Jim was the complete opposite. He made us feel like people and had such patience to explain everything to us and the fact that i wasn't charged a penny is such a blessing as my family is struggling financially right now.
