I highly do not recommend this place. Let's start with the customer service. Did not feel welcomed at all. The lady taking our order, looked like we were causing such inconvenience of being there. The server that delivered our food didn't care to be there. It would not hurt to smile a little bit. Unfortunately, both of them had a I don't give a crap attitude, which is so sad, especially being in a customer service world. I had ordered a single pancake. The pancake tasted horrible really dense, you can tell it was from a pancake mix not homemade. Both hubby and I ordered the mushroom Swiss burger. We hadn't been in awhile. The grouchy lady behind the counter kept us away. We just tried it again after hearing it was under new management. All the overhead fans were on so it was a bit chilly. The food wasn't exactly prompt. There were only 3 other tables occupied. I ordered a Pastrami sandwich with fries and a soda. The bad news...the pastrami was not render at all. We couldn't eat it. The good news is we let the owners know and they offered us a cheeseburger instead. Apparently the pastrami had been grilled instead of cooking it in a pot because they ran out. They were very apologetic and we appreciated their response. The moral of the story is; don't complain on Yelp if you don't give management a chance to make it right. We will definitely be back. Butter already spread in it, waffle undercooked on bottom, was actually white. The bacon would have been amazing except was cooked so hard broke at first bite, the eggs were good. It's fun to try a new breakfast place. However, when you have a great "go-to" place, there's always the risk of disappointment. This time there was disappointment. Nice diner vibe with local business ads laminated to the tables. Sort of cozy. When we got there, I first noticed there were several tables that were a mess from previous customers. Maybe they were very busy earlier? Either way, the kid that eventually cleaned the tables had very little motivation. We thought it was a sit down restaurant, but you order at the counter and they bring your food out when it's ready. Personally, I prefer the traditional sitting down and ordering procedure better. We had breakfast. I got the eggs with hamburger patty. The food was just mediocre. And, it took about 20 minutes to get to our table. I then had to send it back because there a missing item. I wanted a coffee re-fill and they were out of coffee. Really? This was 45 minutes before closing. I'm sure they weren't out of coffee, I suspect they just didn't want to brew another pot. Well went here with my sister and not impressed. We ordered- Gyro sandwich- fries were good gyro was gritty. Mexican omelet- no flavor was so bland. They brought out the gyro first and we waited 7 minutes for them to bring out the omelet which was lukewarm. Portions were good sized but food was very bland. Will not be back. read more

This is our 4th or 5th time at Jim's. We love the menu and variety. This time I tried Jim's hot Pastrami. The menu says you have your choice of a french roll, rye, or sourdough. I wasn't asked what I wanted and got a french roll. My fault for not catching that at the counter, but everyone know pastrami goes on Rye! Unfortunately it was dry with little mustard and one small pickle on each cut side. I didn't finish the other side. We went for the first time so we have no point of reference. The burgers, one Jalapeno special and one mushroom, were both delicious with fresh and tasty toppings. The fries, however, are the type that are purchased frozen, precut and in a plastic bag from Costco/Sam's Club. Otherwise, everything else was good. Prices are reasonable and fair for what you get. Service is prompt and friendly. The atmosphere is very casual and comfortable; restrooms clean. We'll return to try other specialty burgers. read more

Just had to post. I too had stoppedd going to this restaurant years ago because of the service, not the food. BUT, this is NOT the case with my last two visits! The entire staff is welcoming, polite, and caring. A different person took my order on each visit, and both were very nice and welcoming. When they asked a clarifying question about our order, it was a full sentence, not a few words that would leave questioning what they were asking. The food is great and the portion sizes are generous. I have already told otherʻs about the changes and now my coffee club is planning a breakfast get together here. In the 15 years, I've lived in Surprise, I've had breakfast at Jim's a number of times. It's changed. About a month ago, a friend and I met there for breakfast. Breakfast was OK. We weren't offered refills for our coffee. We got them ourselves. Today we met again for breakfast. $20 for a 3-egg omelette and a cup of coffee. The omelette was served cold. The toast was so cold that it was held together by a lump of butter substitute that was not melted or even soft. It's gonna be a long time before I go back to Jim's. Well, I'm a little shocked by such a poor review history but I can only speak to my own experience. I went there last night for the first time. Food was absolutely fantastic. I mean one of the best burgers around. The fries were amazing. they were crisp. They were fresh. They were seasoned and salted perfectly. The food took about 15 minutes no big deal. They were somewhat busy. Service was excellent very friendly staff. I give an extra star if I could. I enjoyed it so much. I'll be going there again today. For the record, the price was actually fair as well. Your average meal is about $15. I mean it's way cheaper than five guys and maybe not as cheap as In-N-Out but there's obviously a difference in the quality and portion. Of course, if my experience changes, I'm happy to update this review which I'm very consistent about so if it's still up the way, it is written rest assured it is still a five star review. read more

I am from a small town in California originally so when I moved out here to Arizona and found out nobody makes chili cheese fries they way they do back home, it bummed me out. I tried this place searching for anywhere that had similar tasting chili cheese fries and finally found it. It's a sad day for us. Both the mom and pop restaurants we've gone to for decades have changed ownership. Lack of service and pleasantries plus huge price increases have caused us to re-examine eating out. Today, my 4 half-slices of French toast and 2 eggs cost me $19.95 I could have bought two 18 packs of eggs and a loaf of Texas toast for $5.00 less and eaten off that every day for 2 weeks. Furthermore, I asked why they dont come around to fill coffee and ice tea. I was told that you have to come up and fill your own coffee cup. For your glass of ice tea, you have to go to the counter and ask for your glass to be filled because "they dont have a pitcher for the tea." The prices and lack of customer service is enough that we won't be coming back! Sure miss the previous owners of both these establishments! read more

I've ate here many times since they've been open and it was definitely one of my favorite places for a burger but not any more, the new ownership must've changed the hamburger patties and in my opinion, not very good at all, changed the whole flavor of their burger, I guess I need to find a new place.
