As a major breakfast aficionado who loves trying new places that are known for setting a delicious tone for the day, I gave this place a try. Came away utterly disappointed, not only with this place but also with Yelp itself. I now feel like I cannot really rely on Yelp for reviews since they really missed on this one. Waste of money, so don't bother. I ordered a frittata and was not even asked how I wanted my eggs in it so they gave me one with overcooked scrambled eggs when I really wanted it over easy. The potatoes were so bland. The bacon were either overcooked or undercooked. The toast were buttered like they just don't give a crap. The side of corned beef hash was really on me, I will admit that. I should've known better thinking I would get some nice homemade hash instead of the disgusting canned mush. I just don't get why people love it so much. There are FAR better options for breakfast in the Rochester area. Don't bother. read more

Don't even think of trying to come in with more then 2 people on a Saturday or Sunday around noon. Waits can/will be very long. On the other hand. You get what you pay for here. Nothing fancy but affordable. They also have redone the open kitchen area. So for a diner in Rochester this is about as clean as you can get. They also ONLY take CASH. This place makes a terrific Eggs Benedict, perfectly poached eggs, actual Canadian bacon, not ham like many places do, their hollandaise was delicious, nothing was too salty, too well done or anything like that, everything was perfectly cooked, served at the perfect temperature! Plus you cant beat the price my breakfast & coffee came out to be about 10.00! Service was terrific as well, my friendly & upbeat waitress came right over to get my drink before had finished taking off my sweater! The food came out in about 7 minutes, I was in & out in less then 30 minutes! Overall, a great little diner, clean, great food, great friendly service, great prices, great atmosphere, really you cant go wrong eating at Jim's on main! Only thing that I can say & it isnt the resturaunt's fault at all, but the location is in a very busy area, especially in the morning (there is a school, the next street over) so it is busy & kinda hard to park. Yelp directions were wrong as well, Yelp had me turn on the one way street beside Jim's & I had to go around the block a couple times to get into the municipal lot, but even with that little bit of frustration, the service & food was worth it! Jim's on Main is a great place to go to for breakfast/ brunch. The setting is very casual, warm and friendly. It's super affordable and delicious. There's table and bar seating available. What I really liked that there was plenty of natural lighting from all the windows. There's a lot to choose from on the menu from Eggs & Toast to Pancakes, French Toast, Eggs Benedict, etc. They have all your typical breakfast food. The customer service was great. As soon as we walked in we were seated by the hostess while the server brought us water immediately. We were also checked in frequently to make sure everything we had everything we needed. The food came out pretty quickly after we ordered - less than 10 minutes. The booths have outlets for you to charge your phones or you can bring your laptop to work while eating. Be advised that it's cash only but there's an ATM inside if you don't have any on you. read more
