This was a double meat cheeseburger, and fries. There was nothing special about this burger. The seasoning was not there, fries or basic.

I went here on my lunch break hoping to get a nice decent good lunch in a timely fashion. I seated myself at the bar and proceeded to order a half-and-half, tea, and a double meat cheeseburger, and fries.. I had to remind a bartender after 10 minutes to bring me my drink, and shortly after that, my food was brought to me. Before I start speaking about the food, let me speak briefly on the gnat infestation at this place . The gnats we're not small they were pretty big in size. I had to keep swatting to keep them away from me flying around my face and flying on my food. You would think that a restaurant will be able to get that problem on the control. It was not a very welcoming situation because you cannot enjoy your food or your space. Asked for the hamburger and fries, everything about that food experience was bland and basic. There was nothing that stood out about Jim's. It was not $17 worth of food value.

Cash wallet with all the money in it.

First let admit , I eat here several times a week. Many of the servers have been here a long time and know me as a regular. That said , I eat here often because it's the most consistently great food and service. But I wanted to add this tidbit that should make you feel good about dining here. I was on my motorcycle so didn't have my usual routine of gathering my belongings after eating. Somehow I left my cash wallet in the booth. I did not discover this until late that night. The next day I walk in and immediately they tell me , we have something for you. My wallet. With the $130 still in it. Great food great service great atmosphere and great honest people.

The service was very friendly and our waitress gave great recommendations for our food. Her name is Michelle. The ambiance seemed like a place to take your family to eat, it was homey inside. Always came to refill my coffee but I wish they had some other flavors of creamer. However, I didn't ask so they might have them. My food was cooked nicely, the eggs weren't overdone and the biscuit was actually nice and flaky. We also got the chicken fried steak which had some delicious seasonal jalepeno gravy on top but I wish it would've been crispier. Overall, I think they've got some great staples, the service is really nice and I like the old fashion diner style. We'd definitely come back here.

2 eggs over medium, delicious greasy sausage, extra crispy hash browns with a side of gravy $8

Still the BEST old school breakfast done like no other. Yelp should let us do less words..

To be fair, we stopped in here while between things we had to do, just got coffee and beverages. We sat at the bar area and were not here long so the three stars is just do that that. It was crowded but we were up front with our server that we just were stopping in for a beverage and to discuss future plans. She was nice and fast without being overbearing. Place hasn't changed much in all the years it has been there. For a old fashioned, comfort food dinner this is the place to go. Nothing was wrong with our visit but we didn't do much or need much on this go round.

Best darn hamburger I've had in Texas. For real.

Why would this particular restaurant qualify for five stars? Furnishings are shabby and dated. I did not detect any environmental practices. There's so much room for improvement. Well... Take note, Yelp: This place is a gem! * When service is some of the best I have ever experienced. Shout out to the friendliest and most efficient waitress of my acquaintance: Ms Kaz! * When hardly any of the main courses are over $12. * When even two of the pickiest eaters (6 and 8 yrs) give new food two thumbs up. * When my $7.99 #1 Jim's Original Burger, fully loaded, is scrumptious. I ate every bite. And all the fries it came with. * When the food is prepared fresh. Not from cans!

Jim's is an absolute gem of an establishment. Local to the Austin area with several locations around town. Offering the old school diner feel and vibe to them. They serve all of your classic items and the portion sizes and prices are extremely affordable. Food was absolutely delicious I got their pancakes and southwest Omlette. Service was great and we never had to wait too long for a table nor for anything from our server. If I'm looking for breakfast with an old school feel Jim's will be my spot to go to.

Their fried chicken sandwich was audibly crisp with fresh tomato and lettuce that I made two meals out of. The pancakes were soft and sweet! The experience, unforgettable. It brought happy tears to my eyes and we really appreciate the thought and care put into our day. I ordered the migas, and the amount of onions in the dish was overwhelming--so much so that it felt like I had ordered a plate of onions rather than migas. The masa cakes were definitely the standout item and were absolutely delicious. However, the rest of the dish fell short. The sauce was extremely rich, making it difficult to enjoy or finish the meal. That said, the restaurant itself is adorable, and our waiter was fantastic. The service and atmosphere were both great. While this breakfast wasn't a hit for me, I'll still return and stick with favorites like the fried green tomatoes and taquito salad, which were excellent during my previous visit.

From the moment we walked in, the hostess gave us a warm welcome, and we were seated right away. It took our server a little while to get to our table, but she arrived with waters in hand, which was appreciated. We started with the fried green tomatoes. They were good, though I've definitely had better back home in Houston. For my entrée, I ordered the Badass Bacon Plate, and it absolutely hit the spot. Everything on the plate was delicious, from the thick-cut slab of bacon to the perfectly cooked scrambled eggs. I especially appreciated that the eggs were seasoned before cooking, something I don't often see at restaurants, and it really made a difference. The hash brown casserole was also fantastic and tied the whole meal together. My brother ordered the fried chicken biscuit and thoroughly enjoyed every bite. Although our server was clearly very busy, the restaurant had a great team approach. Other staff members checked on us, refilled drinks, and made sure we had everything we needed, so we never felt neglected. Overall, it was a great dining experience with delicious food, friendly hospitality, and excellent teamwork. I would definitely recommend Phoebe's Diner if you're looking for a satisfying breakfast or brunch in Austin.

Side of Bacon: This isn't just bacon. It is a thick-cut, crispy masterpiece. Pretty sure it's the best bacon in Austin, if not the entire universe. The staff was friendly, attentive, and made us feel welcome throughout our visit. My daughter and I both ordered the chicken fried chicken, and she substituted the collard greens for mac and cheese. The sausage gravy served with the chicken fried chicken was a little unexpected, but I actually enjoyed the subtle kick of spice it had. The collard greens weren't for me, but that's more of a personal preference since I've never been a fan. The mac and cheese, however, felt like it was missing something. Maybe it was the blend of cheeses, but it wasn't the classic, ooey-gooey diner-style mac and cheese we were hoping for. My brother ordered the chicken and waffles. The waffles had a fermented aroma and tangy flavor that caught us off guard. After speaking with the manager, she explained that they're made with a sourdough batter. While that may appeal to some people, it just wasn't his favorite. Overall, we had a good experience thanks to the outstanding service and welcoming atmosphere. The food simply didn't match our personal tastes. That said, the restaurant was absolutely packed, so they're clearly doing something right. I would still recommend giving 24 Diner a try because everyone's palate is different, and their unique flavors may be exactly what you're looking for.

The hummus wasn't bad per se, just the combination of flavors didn't work for me. That's a me thing. Someone else might dig it. My lady ordered the chicken and waffles. She said it wasn't bad, the chicken was juicy. I had the abomination that was the sweet potato hash. The eggs were ordered over medium. Fruit was the side. The eggs were cooked over well, way over well. Ok. Things happen. The hash was not fresh at all. Really quite soggy. Ok, so guessing it may have been cooked a day or two prior to ordering. Not well prepared, but not the end of the world, right? Here's the thing: there was an unmistakable flavor of rubber and/or plastic. This was the predominant flavor. I simply couldn't eat it. Maybe a wrapper or some other foreign item was inadvertently added. The small dish of watermelon, strawberry and pineapple was ok. This, with tip, was $65.00 just had water to drink. Wonder if they used to be good and have just fallen off, but IMHO not worth it at all.
