ITS JIMS STEAKs, need i say more, although this is the location by the airport not the original in South Street Philly but still amazing!! The sandwiches are out of this world and the same as when I was a kid! Make sure you get the WIZZ! No better cheesesteak in the world. The best cheesesteaks have different qualities that stand out in particular. For me, at Jim's, it's about the fineness of the chop and the quality of the meat. I do also love coating the bread with wiz (and finishing the sandwich with it on top). Peppers are free at check out if you ask for them. If you want to avoid the line, come at an off hour, as I did. But remember to bring cash, otherwise you'll need to pull from the conveniently located ATM inside. read more

I had very high expectations coming to this location because their South St location (which is closed temporarily due to a fire) had (I kid you not) the BEST cheesesteak that I have ever had. The workers aren't the most welcoming, but as long as you give them respect then they will make sure you get your food promptly and exactly how you want it. I was visiting Pennsylvania for the first time and this was the first time I've had a genuine Philly cheesesteak, so take my opinion with a grain of salt compared to a local's. The sandwich itself was tasty, but it seemed to be lacking from what I expected a Philly cheesesteak to be; there wasn't any juices or grease dripping from the cheesesteak. The meat was therefore a bit dry but still tender. With it being simply seasoned with salt and pepper and flavored by the grilled onions and cheese, it was a good first cheesesteak that costed about $14. I even took one for my plane ride back so my girlfriend can try it and she enjoyed it after a good air fry. Was looking for something late-night while out and happened to see Jim's Steaks is open very late on Friday nights. It was pretty quiet, but the staff was Super-friendly and asked about everything for my order as they went. I had a cheese steak with fried onions, provolone cheese, and a little ketchup, plus a side of fries. Steak slices are big, and while you get a good size portion, it's not overstuffed like some places (where you can't get a good bite of all the ingredients.) Onions are mixed in. Since I had a bit of a drive home, it stayed pretty warm after 40 minutes. The mix of onions, beef, and ketchup reminded me of a White Castle burger, in a good way. All the tourists will go to Pat's and Gino's and ask for the yellow cheese sauce. But locals know that (1) those two places are a tourist trap and (2) provolone is the one and only choice for cheese. Another crucial element to the cheesesteak--which is very difficult to replicate outside of Philly--is their authentic Italian hoagie roll. Experience pales next to South Street Wimpy cheesesteak... ...but nice people I gave this location a shot with my family while driving to visit relatives, hoping it captured the essence I wanted. Sure enough, the menu is similar to downtown, and they mimicked much of the look too. Unfortunately, the wait was not much improved, even though it was 2pm on President's Day - still about 25 minutes from walking in 'til steak & shake in hand. When we'd all been served, the roll was right, the meat was fine, the cheese was thin...but it just didn't collectively add up. Light on substance and taste, I actually felt bad for my family (from Rhode Island) thinking this was the example everybody talks up as prime Philly cuisine. I finished up vowing that next time I'd be more serious about finding them a shining star. I love Jim's because of the taste and quality of their chicken cheesesteak. Not all places carry chicken but they do and I love it.
