Fried chicken, lo mein, chicken & broccoli, etc.

For the price that they are serving these $7.50 buffets, how can you beat 4 different meats, to go with a choice of either white rice or lo mein? It's a great spot to go to for lunch. They'll fill your tray, and the selection always isn't the same. Cash Only.

Hole in the wall spot on china town which judging by the clientele is popular with the locals. Inside youll find seating, though its a bit cramped and pretty crowded around meal times. Known for their less than 10$ combo platters, i came in with expectations that quanity might be the main seller here, something that definitely appeals to the deal finder in me. I grew up going to places exactly like this on the west coast, essentially similar to the panda express model of choose a base and a few meat/veggie based items. However, I think Jin Wei does not execute super well on this idea. To be fair, its hard to be too nitpicky at the price point, but the items i chose were all pretty underwhelming. The kungpao chicken was soggy, the beef tough, and everything pretty bland. On top of all of this, the food all had the look and taste of seeming to have been sitting just a touch too long. Again, it's impossible to beat the price and value Jin Wei provides, but you can come close at other Chinatown spots without comprising the quality quite as much as you have to here.

This is a good choice for when you aren't sure what you want, so you can get your top 4 with a soup and rice or noodles. For just $6.50 (at the time of this review) you get an incredibly generous portion of food - probably the best bang for your buck in Chinatown! The food choices are much more diverse than your typical American Chinese restaurant, so you'll find some good stuff here. It doesn't taste as great as most of the other restaurants in Chinatown, but it's hard to argue with the cost. So, if you want a lot of food and a lot of choices to choose from, this is the place for you.

Extremely large portion of soup + food (I would say 2x portion of what you get at a food truck for the same price). It's a bit more of a quantity vs quality games but I think it definitely hit my craving for simple Chinese food. You get to choose 4 dishes along with rice or noodles + the soup :) very good deal and might come again if super hungry!

Lunch box - spare ribs, meatballs, fried fish, and fried shrimp. Slightly under seasoned and bland

5 stars for price. 4 stars for choices, and 2 stars for taste You won't be able to find a Chinese lunchbox shop that goes as cheap as Jin Wei. For $5.50 you can get four selections of meats with a side of rice. More than enough for a lunch. AMBIANCE: There are quite a few tables, but beware this isn't a proper restaurant per se - no table service, all self serve, and still is primarily a takeout spot. Since this is Chinatown don't expect grade A decor. Don't expect it to be the most hygienic place either. Its quite dark and dingy inside. PROS: Lots of selections of meats! ranging from different types of chicken, beefs, pork, and various vegetables. The price once again is unbeatable for a quick lunchbox set around the area or if you want a quick takeout spot. All the food has already been prepped and can be consumed immediately and checkout process (Cash only) is very fast and straightforward. Fried shrimp were my personal favorites - tasty, cripsy, and salted very well. Chinese Meat balls were well sauced and had a good balance of sweet and savory flavors. CONS: Since everything's already cooked and prepared, there is a chance that the food isn't as fresh as you want it to be. Its cheap, so there might be an off chance that the business would cut corners. The other dishes that I ordered in my lunch box weren't as impressive - the spare ribs were cold and rather bland and need more salt, and the fried fish was also underseasoned as well. The rice was slightly cold and all the dishes more or less had the same flavor and textures, making the meal rather monotonous. OVERALL: Good for a quick, cheap meal if time is against you. Good selections of choices but rather downside is the food tasted quite underwhelming.

Wow, less than five bucks for a whole tray worth of food?? Who wouldn't want to come here. The food is like any other American Chinese fast food restaurant but you got tons of food for only $4.75. They have a wide array of dishes from sesame chicken to green beans. I ordered the lo mein with sesame chicken, pig feet, tofu, green beans, and it comes with free soup. The soup was very satisfying with the egg and seaweed mixed it. Overall, I dig the spot. My only comment is that the food isn't the hottest so order take out and throw it in the microwave.

$4.75 for over two pounds of food and a soup? I've only previously heard of this place, but on my way to choo choo pho last night I noticed this was right next door, and decided to take the plunge. Upon entering, there was a spread over 25 entrees in addition to the base carbs (rice, rice noodles, lo mein noodles). Basically it's like an assembly line where you pick a carb, then four subsequent entrees from any of the options. The food itself kind of tasted like a less greasy version of panda express, with the addition of some slightly more authentic options (pig feet? tomato egg?). This also came with a side of seaweed and egg soup, which tasted like the one my mom makes. I was a bit skeptical when I saw the price, and wanted to wait a day after my meal to write this review, but I've had no stomach issues so far! Some of the entrees were lukewarm which made my friend and I a little uncomfortable since we were eating in. I would suggest the takeout option and heating it up a bit more before consuming. The restaurant itself is also not somewhere you want to go for a nice evening. It's actually quite atrocious, haha.. but I know I'm paying $4.75 for for an unhealthy portion of food and not for the decors or service. Will keep returning till my stomach says otherwise.

Obscene value at $8 for 4 items with noodles and rice. Don't get how people could like Panda Express when something like this exists.

The homemade DanDan noodles were our favorite, which are served with ground pork in a spicy peanut sauce. We also got the three cup chicken which was so good, with a sweet, licorice-like glaze. Some other favorites were the black pepper chicken and the long hot chicken, if you enjoy spice. We had the ginger and scallion dish and was not our favorite, as the chicken had a unique consistency and was quite limp. Overall, good service and a relaxing ambiance in a bustling city.

Unfortunately the experience at pickup wasn't the best. I asked if they had included utensils and the gentleman at the counter said no. I asked for some since I was bringing the food back to my hotel and wouldn't have anything to eat with. He was pretty dismissive and didn't seem to want to give me anything. (I also didn't get any napkins.) Just a little strange when ordering takeout, utensils should be included right? Or at the very least be readily given out when requested? He begrudgingly gave me 2 pairs of chopsticks and a fork, said he ran out of spoons. I didn't notice the lack of napkins until I got back. Now for the food. We ordered dan dan noodles, a chicken lo mein, and Taiwanese minced pork rice. The noodle dishes were decent but the lo mein was a bit too al dente for our liking...especially for our young son. Didn't get a chance to eat the rice because we were all too full from the noodles. Appreciate the generous portions at least. Will see if the rice will make it home safely with us and reheats well. Can't speak on the ambience. Wasn't in there long enough to really look around. Will I order from them again or try in person in the future? I'm not sure. I wasn't blown away by the food or service so...

On this cold almost summer day, Nan Zhou was hustling and bustling. Separate parties at the same round table and clients coming in and out of the restaurant facade. Warm lighting and active banter. I received my bowl of beef noodle soup was pretty satisfied. Beef was tender with flavorful bites of fattiness. Somehow, the meat tastes beefier than beef. The cilantro had potent herbaceous flavor with some spinach(?) and mustard greens. Noodles were pleasantly chewy w variation in texture. Lowkey, everything else was alright. I like to be nice so I'll say no more. Cucumbers were fine

This place was packed, which is always a good sign, and even with that the staff stayed super prompt and professional. The house special was my favorite. I got it with the knife-cut noodles and it was perfect with the broth. The noodles had that slightly uneven, chewy texture that really holds onto the soup. I never thought I'd be the type to talk about "mouthfeel" but here we are. The broth itself was rich and savory with a deep beef flavor, a little bit of oil on top that adds body without feeling too heavy. It's that classic, comforting Chinese beef noodle soup done really well. I added a braised egg, which had great flavor soaked into it, though it was served cold, which threw me off a bit. The mapo tofu with noodles was also really solid. It had that signature spicy, numbing kick from the Sichuan peppercorns, balanced with a savory, slightly salty sauce. The tofu was soft and silky, and mixing it with the noodles made it extra satisfying. It's got some heat but not overwhelming, just enough to keep you going back for another bite. The shrimp stir fry was lighter but still flavorful. The shrimp were cooked well, tender with a slight snap, and the sauce leaned more on the savory side with a mild sweetness. It felt like a nice balance alongside the heavier noodle dishes. Couple practical things: it's cash only, but there's an ATM right by the seating area which makes it easy. And the portions are generous for the price, so it feels like a really good deal. Overall, super satisfying spot. Busy, a little chaotic, but the food absolutely delivers. Definitely a go-to if you're craving hand-pulled noodles.

A bit on the higher priced side for this dish but as I've had some great food from a different Han Dynasty location I didn't mind trying them out. Portion size was average on the chicken. The spice level says 8/10 but it was definitely on the weaker side. Maybe the peppers themselves were older / dried out and the flavor faded too much vs fresher peppers right before cooking. Maybe a bad choice of dish or an off day but as compared to a few other Sichuan dry pepper dishes from other restaurants around Philly it was a clear step below them. Might try a different choice if I order again.
