Food: I've never been big on hibachi, but I love sushi, and Jinbeh didn't disappoint. My first visit, I ordered the crab rangoons, jalapeño crab roll, and vegetable fried rice with New York strip steak. While hibachi isn't really my thing, the food was solid. The crab rangoons were a standout--freshly made and packed with crab meat, not just cream cheese. Easily the best I've ever had! The jalapeño crab roll was also quite delicious as well. On a return visit, during lunch I ordered the crab rangoons and jalapeño crab roll again. Later that night, I came back and I tried the lobster volcano and Tiffany roll. I don't usually enjoy fried sushi or cream cheese in rolls, but Jinbeh may have changed my mind--the quality of their sushi is so good that even my picky eater friend is now considering raw fish! Their wasabi sauce deserves special mention--it's spectacular and pairs perfectly with the rolls. As for drinks, the bar menu is fantastic. I tried the lychee martini, pineapple mojito, and a margarita--all refreshing and well-made. Service: The service is great--cozy and family-like. Bday celebration tonite with party of 4. We had recently tried a new hibachi place that had just opened and wanted to compare. This was just average. Overpriced and average. The salt and pepper shakers were sticky and even spots on the floor were sticky. The food was ok, but nothing out of this world. And the chef although nice was more about get in and get out than putting on a show. The salad dressing was pretty good, but the soup, fried rice, veggies were just ok. Although we were the only couple at the table we were seated on a corner so not in good view of the hibachi chef. I've been to this restaurant several times, though I usually go to the Lewisville location. Unfortunately, after today, I won't be returning to the Frisco location. I ordered the same roll I always get, but here it was prepared completely differently, despite having the same name. I sent it back, but our server never returned to check on us or offer an alternative--it felt like we were completely ignored for the rest of the meal. To make matters worse, there was an issue with the card reader. Instead of calmly troubleshooting, a staff member came over and loudly asked if I had another card, making it seem like the problem was on my end. I explained that the card was fine, and when they finally brought it to the table, the machine simply required the card to be inserted instead of tapped. That should've been the first step, not an embarrassing scene. Overall, the service was unacceptable--and the experience definitely wasn't worth the $113 we spent. Inside is nice; brings me back to the traditional Japanese steakhouse interiors when they first started opening up years and years ago. The staff was friendly; we arrived right when they opened so they weren't busy. We sat by the sushi bar area. My friend ordered a chicken fried rice that she liked. I ordered albacore, salmon and spicy scallop nigiri. All were pleasantly tasty. I also got the mussels from the special board, they were good. And then I ordered a roll off the special menu, Skinny Ninja; It had no rice and it was quite tasty. I'd definitely come again if I'm in the area just to try other rolls. We came here on Christmas night for dinner and it was a horrible experience. I made a reservation for 8pm however we didn't get seated until 8:30. The servers and runners were all very rude. Nobody came by the group table for a while so I had to go to the bar and ask for water myself. I overheard another lady at the group habachi table asking her friend "why is everyone so rude here", so I knew I wasn't the only person thinking this. I ordered the steak habachi and my man got the salmon. My steak was supposed to be cooked medium and was more like well done. His salmon was extra bland and tasted very fishy meaning it was old. All the food lacked in flavor, the shrimp the steak and fish. I was hoping for a better experience being that it was my first time there and it was Christmas. The cook didn't fully clean the grill before he started cooking on it. The food was pretty good. The waitress only came twice but never filled our drinks. We got two sirloins and were charged for two filets. I thought it was a little high in the restaurant but didn't remember that the sirloins were $10 less after we got into the car. My family and I have been going to Jinbeh for almost 12 years. We go here for lunch or dinner several times a year. We have always had a great experience. Took my husband here last night for his birthday dinner and it was so bad we will never return. Made reservations and go seated. All at our table were so warm we were sweating. They had not air conditioner on. We mentioned this to our server and she just acted like she could not understand us. The other patrons around us were warm as well at their tables. Our server took our drinks and appetizer order, we received those then it took over 30 minutes for our chef to arrive at our table. Our food was great, that is not the issue. Jinbeh has always had great food. My husband always gets the fried rice. It is normally an extra cost for an add odd so we already knew..... But, was not expecting it to be $12.95 extra cost just for fried rice with his already filet and shrimp. Our waitress was so horrible rude that my husband almost got up and walked out. She just seemed to have forgotten about us during while our hibachi was being made. We receive our bill and was stunned that the price. We are used to paying $140 - $160 when we go here. But, not $200. We look and the server had already added a 30% gratuity to our bill. When asked she said they auto add this for parties of 6 or more. Well..... the whole table seats up to 8 and with people we don't know. She also did not give us our itemized bill to see why our bill was so much more than we have normally paid. She got an attitude, and was standing there waiting for us to give her our card. Finally, I just gave it to her and told my husband let's just pay and get out of here. We won't be back. I am sure that of you visit prime time, you will need reservations-or a lot of drinking time at the bar. Tonight we tried two rolls: Salmon Summer Breeze - Salmon, avocado & crab and specified the mango sauce on the side. The sauce is sweet - so we prefer to have it on the side. Mussels Dynamite w/crabmeat and Japanese Red Snapper on top. This was a chef special on a Monday evening. Wow! This is is extra spicy and served hot, thus we ordered the sauce on the side. Jinbeh, you need to train your staff to have basic manners and communication skills. Being greeted at the front door by a very young female who can't even say "hi" is not what we expect when we are paying over a $100 for a meal. You need to train your staff and hire greeters/hostesses with class, manners, and the basics on communication. If you don't, you will lose long term customers like myself who will take my money and business elsewhere if you don't clean up your act.
