We've been here a handful of times now and each time the food is delicious. I have no complaints there. Tonight, though, left us feeling if we should ever come back. Our waitress, (if I remember it correctly) MJ?, was not very hospitable. I waited an extra few minutes for my beverage when my partner had already received their's. And only brought it over when we reminded her. Got it. Our food comes out, amazing. My partner wants another drink. I want another one as well. Waitress is nowhere to be found. 1 star for bad service! We did not get waited on while seating at the bar where you can watch them cook. We tried to get someone's attention but no eye contact at all from the wait staff or the cooks. Roughly almost 15 mins went by and we just walked out, we told the host that after you sat us no one came by and he was shocked and just said sorry, so we left. Haven't gone back since, and sadly we go there for lunch a few times and I forgot his name, but great server. Well, where to start. First, our server Derek was not very pleasant. He looked like a robot when talking to us.. he had the same conversation with both table next to us. We ordered appetizers and main dishes as the same time and of course the ramen came way before our appetizers. My daughter ordered a Shirley temple and got it when she was almost done eating . I got the Red ramen and it was so delicious, I ate it all. I personally didn't like the vegan or the chicken one. We had requested certain toppings like an extra egg and corn but they didn't come out with it so we had to wait on those which was a little upsetting. Our waiter was very kind and helpful. Also not featured we had tried the edamame and it wasn't the best, it was just sprinkled with salt. The vegan gyozas were delicious! We had to double check they weren't meat because it was so good. We went to eat on the patio on a surprisingly cool October Sunday evening. We only had to wait a couple of minutes to be seated. We were given menus and our waitress was ready to take our order almost immediately. The patio was fairly dark as the sun had just gone down. I ordered the pork chashu rice bowl and a glass of Cabernet. My food arrived quickly and my drink not too long after. Unfortunately my rice bowl was only just warm. I'm not sure if that is the way it is supposed to be cooked but I was surprised. It did taste good. After a few minutes the waitress came and asked us if we wanted garlic. After the garlic arrived, the waitress returned asking if we wanted sauces. By then I was half way through my meal. I felt that the service was a little disjointed even though I got everything I needed, eventually. I will try this place again but I will order ramen next time. Parking will probably not be a problem unless you arrive at dinner time on Friday or Saturday. read more

We LOVE Jinya in Los Angeles, CA and were excited to find one here while traveling. The food and vibe was identical to our experience back home. Love there are vegan options as well as non pork ones. My favorite it the lychee martini, the Brussels sprouts appetizer to share and the chicken ramen bowl and add corn, bok choy and a seasoned egg. Add a second egg and split the portion for a leftover meal the next day. The protein is very little on this bowl so either double it or get the chicken wonton option instead. Service was very welcoming, friendly, and attentive. The menu has a variety of ramen, small dishes, sides, and cocktails. I got the original tonkatsu ramen ($17.80) and the broth was very flavorful without being too overly salty. The texture of the noodles was very delicious and chewy. The takoyaki was super fresh and crispy but it was a tad pricey since it was $9.90. I also got a lychee martini ($13) which was delicious and very fruity without being too sweet or bitter. Lastly, I got the panna cota, which consisted of their homemade panna cotta, caramel cream sauce, graham cracker and vanilla ice cream and that cost $6! That was so tasty, creamy, and not too sweet! Me and my gf and my friend ( 3 of us ) came in to ask about a wait time and they pushed us to the side and three other people came after us and they attended them right away and got them a table, and when I asked why they got sat when we were here before them, the other waiter was unsure of what to say and I said we need a table and he said oh idk what happened maybe a misunderstanding. So I had said yeah that's what I was confused about. Customer service overall is 4/10, but food is 9/10. I feel conflicted because I really enjoyed the flavors of the food, and there was a good selection (including multiple veg friendly options!), but my ramen came cold, which was a bit of a letdown. I ordered my food to go, so I had no ability to question until it was too late. The items that went into the ramen were not just cold, but they were refrigerator temperature, which I was unprepared for entirely! The broth was only lukewarm, so when the items were mixed together, I immediately had cold ramen. While the flavor was delicious, it was not what I was looking for on a cool day, and for $30 for one person (ramen and small side), I definitely expected something a bit more. This seems to be their practice, however, which is perplexing. I did the Flying Vegan Harvest, and it came with a variety of vegetables, Impossible meat, and some tofu. The broth had a good flavor without being too spicy or salty, and it was filling. I was unable to finish the whole portion, especially since I had a small side with it. I also ordered an Impossible bun, which was really really good, even better than the ramen. Best ramen in the Valley. Sure, your taste may differ, but I challenge you to find better. Yeah Menshoe is good, but their approach is very different with their Smokey pork and egg. Jinya is- to me- a more classic Japanese ramen place. And it has just enough "twist" for the American market. Ramen places have become havens for the hipster crowd. Not sure why. Once the domain of working class Japanese people, ramen has been elevated to a trendy, not-cheap dining option. Kenya delivers with brick walls, a hopping bar, pumping music, and a dark, hip vibe. It's crowded all the time so the tables are close. It's a great place for a date, though it can be loud with all the square, hard surfaces. The ramen is the star. We tried both the traditional and the "red" broth which is spicier and has a bit more of an "umami" flavor. Both are just amazing. You can tell these broths are cooked for hours and they contain ultra-fresh ingredients. No wilted bean sprouts here. The pork is, well, heavenly. So tender it actually melts in your mouth, and full of that traditional pork flavor. It's mouth-watering. One small complaint is they only give you two small "slabs" with each ramen bowl. So I'd opt for an extra two. It's hearty, full of flavor, and a true pleasure to eat. There are the usual long lists of "add-in's." You can throw in everything from seaweed to eggs to different forms of garlic to lots of veggies. You can customize your bowl to YOUR liking. And that's one of the cool things about ramen. It is individual to the eater, yet universal. You can get it as spicy (or not) as you like. All told, Jinya blows away all the gazillion ramen places we've tried in the valley. You can go wrong, and the long waits prove that. When you're ready for something hot, comforting, healthy, and full of flavor, give Jinya a try. You will not be disappointed. read more
