Lylo Swim Club was always top of mind but I still searched to see if there was an option closer to where I live in North East Phoenix. Ultimately Lylo Swim Club was what I chose and I am very glad that I did. The fan mister gave us great comfort and the pool was the perfect temperature for us all. The popular Dole Whip drink did not disappoint we all three ordered one. Also the food was delicious and our server Miguel provided us with stellar service! The bar and hotel lobby didn't have bug spray nor any for sale. The nearby liquor store does have some for sale at less than a block's walk. (The pool is hot mid Phoenix summer. The pool itself felt closer to a hot tub than a refreshingly cold pool. I'm told this is normal for pools in Arizona in the summer.) PROS: -All of the drinks are really pretty, visually, and with the pool, you have a great mecca for social media photos. -Despite the ridiculous 110+ Phoenix heat, we were relatively comfortable in the shaded restaurant area with the misters. We could still see the pool, but we weren't baking alive. -Pool bathrooms were clean enough. There were lots of puddles and toilet paper on the ground, but nothing was horrific or moldy like some pool bathrooms can be. Spacious stalls for changing too - though I didn't see any shower or changing areas. -The pool area itself is pretty! It makes for gorgeous Instagram photos, and Lylo knows that. There are lots of little spots (a camp sign, a chair off on its own, all the loungers, etc.) that make cute photo backdrops in addition to the pool itself. -There is a collection of inflatable pool toys in the corner that seem to be open for guest use. CONS: -Water bottles are not allowed at all - not even sealed disposable plastic ones from the grocery store. They'll store them for you, and you can fetch your own water with disposable plastic cups while you're here. -The misters in the pool area were broken. With the heat, we chose not to actually use the pool, and instead stayed in the restaurant, shaded area with misters. -All of the on-menu drinks are pretty sweet and not super boozy (at their price points). It's easy to go through quite a few at their higher price. Make sure that you're spending intentionally. -We weren't in love with the food we ordered. It felt like frozen food reheated and served to us. To be fair, that's about to be expected from a pool bar, but it was still something to note at the prices and with nearby restaurants walkable. -Service is there. I wouldn't say it was friendly or welcoming, but the servers checked in often in-between talking to people in swimsuits or joking with friends. I rarely waited for anything, but I didn't feel like a valued guest. -The fabric of the chaise loungers and lounge beds are stained. I saw some employees hauling off some of them and shoving them into the back of a fabric cleaning van, so I'd assume they rotate in and out and have to deal with a ton of spilled drinks.

We called multiple times. The guy at the door informed us the other location had closed and he couldn't seat us until 8 pm unless we wanted to sit at the bar. I asked to speak with a manager and was told there was no manager there. A restaurant should always have a manager or someone on site empowered to address customer concerns. We agreed to sit at the bar. First we ordered cocktails for $17 each. While they were tasty and refreshing, they had virtually no alcohol. I ordered the Kra Pow and, on the server's recommendation, chose the pork belly. My friend ordered the Pad Ki-Mao with pork belly. After waiting 30-45 minutes for the food, it finally arrived. Mine was dry pieces of pork belly, dry rice, an egg and three cucumber slices, no sauce whatsoever. When I asked for sauce, I was offered soy sauce and hot chili. My friend's noodles were tasty, but she also thought her pork belly was dry. The server, who was also the host and bartender didn't check in on us a single time during our meal. Between the outdated website, unanswered phone, lack of management and service, long wait and underwhelming food and drinks, the entire experience was extremely disappointing. They have a small parking lot, but it's free and I was able to find a spot on a Friday evening. Ambiance (2.5/5): Speakeasies are known for their sophistication and for their hidden entry. Bar 1912 isn't much of a mystery. There are two entry points. Either a door in the back of the restaurant or a hallway inside the restaurant that's relatively easy to find as there isn't a door or anything in between the restaurant and the speakeasy. Our waiter took us there after our meal. Bar 1912 is nice, but just about average in terms of ambiance compared to other speakeasies. Part of the reason is that it's very loud (seats 30 people or so) and all of the seating at the bar are back-less bar stools (which I personally hate due to my back). I would have preferred to sit on the various couches/sofas next to the bar. Service (4.5/5): Friendly, attentive service. Exactly what you hope for when you're grabbing a drink (especially when they take a little longer to make due to their sophistication). You're provided with water without asking which is always a nice touch. I had to grab the bartender's attention once or twice, but outside of that, a job well done. Food (N/A); Since I had dinner at Valentine prior, I skipped food here. They have a small menu consisting mostly of appetizers (many, but not all, which are offered at Valentine). One option which isn't at Valentine, but which piqued my interest is the Sonoran hot dog. Had I been hungry, it would've been a no brainer. They have four or so desserts on the menu, and I had room for dessert, but none of them seemed appetizing. Drinks (4/5): When I'm at a speakeasy, I look for creativity and an interesting blend of ingredients. You certainly have that here. There's a focus on Native American and Hispanic influences here, which is pretty cool, and fitting since we're in Phoenix and everything. I tried two cocktails, one was a hit and one was a miss. I'm pretty flexible when it comes to cocktails, and I know what I like, so I rarely miss. Unfortunately, it happened here. With that being said, I tried some liqueurs I had never had before which is awesome. And I enjoyed the cocktail menu. This isn't the type of spot you'll find an Espresso Martini...thankfully. With a couple of tweaks, Bar 1912 could be in line with some of my favorite speakeasies in town.

Right as you walk in, it's so clean and the space is very chill unlike most cafes that glare music, the music they had was subtle and perfect for remote work. They serve different types of coffee and tea and some baked goods. The space to work was large and didn't have to speed walk to save a spot. The bookstore was well stocked with good books so during a work break, I got some stickers, a new book and a fun little trinket for my purse! Definitely recommend this spot for a nice place to work remotely, sip drinks and eat baked goods. Oh and they also serve mimosas! I didn't order one this time but I will next time!

We were greeted and seated promptly, and our servers were absolutely wonderful. The drinks and food were both top-notch, and the ambiance was calm, atmospheric, and romantic without feeling stuffy. The food was easily a 10/10. Everything was so unique, flavorful, and made with such high-quality ingredients. You can really tell there's a lot of thought put into the menu. After dinner, we were escorted over to their lounge next door for a nightcap and listening party, which was such a fun addition to the evening. We loved the experience so much that when our waiter mentioned they also serve breakfast, we came back the very next day to try the breakfast menu for the first time! And WOW -- breakfast did not disappoint. We tried the Sonoran dog with roe, tres leches French toast, steak and eggs, and the tamale bowl. Everything was amazing, but the Sonoran dog with roe was LIFE CHANGING. I would highly recommend either the steak and eggs or the Sonoran dog. The French toast was delicious, but I was glad we had some heartier dishes to balance it out. And I can't forget the thrift store! It's absolutely adorable, and I especially loved all of the crochet blankets. Between the food, service, atmosphere, lounge experience, and all the little details, Valentine is such a special place. We sat at a two-person table. It was a little small, but it was fine. And it was a little hot inside. Something to be mindful of, especially during August in Phoenix. Service (4.5/5): The service throughout was great. Attentive, efficient, and friendly. Our waiter did well taking care of us. No complaints. Drinks (4.5/5): Valentine has a nice wine and cocktail list. I ended up going with a Chilean wine. Potentially the first time I've had wine from Chile. My dining partner liked her cocktail. Food (4/5): We started off with the Sonoran what pretzel as an appetizer. It's served with whipped hen butter and honey comb which is an interesting take. A little mix of sweet and savory. And hey, I'll take a healthier pretzel every day of the week as long as it still tastes good. It did. Crispy on the exterior and soft on the inside just as you hope. One of their most popular starters. From there, I had the elote pasta which is their most popular dish. The presentation is awesome. The pasta is made to look like corn on the cob.
