We have been here on a Wednesday, 12/18/2019 for dinner. We haven't had a reservation (not even sure if they take reservations) and luckily there was no waiting time. We initially sat in a high table but then luckily could be moved to a booth. I had the Spicy Tonkotsu Ramen and added an egg. It was very good. I had the house Cabernet Sauvignon which was OK. The service actually was very good and helpful. We never had the feeling we were left out or no one keeps attention to us. There is a private parking lot and it is also possible to be seated outside (around a fireplace). Sorry for not attaching any photos but the photos I took all ended up to be very blurry lol. We started off with the Jinya Bun which was my favorite part of the meal! It is not a very big place, they have smaller tables and one huge table in the middle. Just came in for lunch today for my first time . I went with the tonkotsu black, no extras. It had great flavor and definitely enough to take home. My two disappointment is the fact it came with merely just two slices of pork. When I mean slices.. when cut into bite size you maybe get 8 small bites to go with your huge bowl of noodles. The whole meal was 15.16$ with tax. That's just. For. The. Ramen With tip that's 17-18$ just for lunch. If I wanted to add extras they were all 3$ apiece.. could you imagine eating a bowl of ramen for over 20$ if you wanted extra toppings ?! The server looked shocked when the customers politely refused. When we get our order there were several things wrong about the order that never got corrected. So frustrated with this place! The food is excellent and I like the vibe when we go. It is pricey especially for takeout, but usually I think it's worth the splurge. Today I needed it delivered so we used UberEats, despite the menu prices being markedly higher and an excess charge BY THE RESTAURANT (not Uber). I understand why they do this, but I expect the usual quality when I'm paying extra for it! 2 of the 3 items ordered were much smaller/less than what we normally get. 6 Brussels Sprouts for almost $12? Half the broth than normal for Ramen? The manager said there was nothing he could do, but he was confident UberEats would refund the order. Not sure why since it is clearly on the restaurant; I doubt the Uber driver was skimming off broth. But UberEats said it didn't qualify. I paid almost $60 for a scant amount of food. This is just unacceptable. Edited to add: Jimmy W--I appreciate your response and offer. I do want to clarify: I was not comparing my delivery portions to in-restaurant. I get takeout from your location and the Heights location several times a year (tho we eat in more). I was in fact comparing the amount of food to the typical take-out or delivery portions. Went for lunch with my family. Restaurant is new and nicely decorated and clean. When you walk to wards the back of the restaurant the hostess loudly says something that is likely supposed to be Japanese, whereupon all the other employees respond by yelling it back. The first time is cute. By the time you are finished eating you will want to strangle all of them! My mother is Japanese and I couldn't understand what they were saying. Seriously, it was just annoying and starling at times. I ordered the spicy chicken ramen. It was very tasty. I also order some "extras", one being some seaweed. For $1.50 I received one 3"x3" square piece of seaweed. Seriously? You could buy half a package of seaweed for that. Other than that, my ramen was delish The reason for the low score: my wife ordered the vegetable ramen. Menu said is was going to have asparagus and spinach among other ingredients. When it arrived it appeared as if the cook grabbed one of those salad bags you buy in the grocery store and dumped half of it in her bowl. There was literally one half of. Piece of asparagus, and not even the good end. And a few leaves of spinach. The rest was romaine lettuce, radicchio, and other various lettuces that you would find in a spring mix salad bag! Can you think of one instance where you cook lettuce? I couldn't. It was horrible. The bitterness of the radicchio and other greens was not good in the soup. The owner in his response said that this was correct and the way they always serve it. Anyone else ever heard of putting such things in any kind of soup, much less ramen? I certainly haven't, and I'm half Japanese. Spinach? Sure. Cabbage? Yup Asparagus? Ok. But various lettuce types and radicchio? Yuck. I think it's time they changed the recipe for vegetable ramen. The owner also said in his response that we could have asked for these vegetables to be placed on the side. But, the menu only mentioned spinach and asparagus as far as we can remember. It didn't mention lettuce and radicchio. We couldn't have prevented it because we didn't know it was coming. So, if you go. Sit up in the front of the restaurant where the tv is. Grabbed dinner at Jinya Ramen Bar in Cypress last night. It was our first visit and our server Adam was incredibly helpful with suggestions. We started off with the Brussels sprouts and spicy Mayo. Then we both had Spicy Chicken Ramen. Brought our son home the Jinya Tonkotsu Orignal, which he raved over as well. The atmosphere is great - tables for just two and then large groups, or the bar. Well what can I say about this little ramen shop. It is a bit of a chore to get out of the parking lot unless you are heading over the 290 bridge. Otherwise you have to wait for some good neighbor to let you out so you won't get run over. Now back to the food. They are always great with their menu items and with all this corvid stuff going on they do a lots of curb side pickup and togo orders. But even with that their foods always seem to be on point without any issue. The ramen and the soup is still as tasty as dine in but of course the only difference is that you can't order extra noodle with you not finished soup. But still the food is still good Give them a try. They even build a little fire place table outside for customers that want to have a little fun but with the outside flare. I've always wanted to try an authentic Japanese Ramen recipe, and today I finally got the chance. Myself and some of my college friends wanted to try something new for our monthly get-togethers. This location just opened in the area where we normally meet up, so at my suggestion, we decided to give this place a try, and KINYA didn't disappoint. Our waiter gave us excellent service, with a few good recommendations on drinks, and what Ramen to try. The menu options aren't badly priced either. Whether it's lunch or dinner, the Goku Midnight Cowboy, and the Spicy Tuna Mini Tacos are definite must-haves. I will definitely be visiting KINYA more in the future. read more

Went for the first time with two of my buddies and it was great! Service was fast and we didn't have to wait long for our food, and the restaurant looked very clean and their vibe was comforting, especially with their hanging upside down plants. I had their JINYA tonkotsu black and it was superb! The pork broth and noodles were so delicious and had a lot of flavor. My only gripe was that their pork slices were only an inch and a half long and an inch wide, and only came in two per bowl, so I'd say they could've been bigger. Overall I had a great time and I'm coming back again for sure, and give 4/5 solely because I have more to try. read more

What I love about JINYA is it doesn't matter which location I go to, the broth is always consistent & on point. Yes, it's a bit on the pricy side but their attention to detail in what they make is spot on; so I definitely don't mind paying a bit more for some good ramen. This time I wanted to try something different since I done ate everything on the menu, I asked our server Angelina (who was the bomb.com by the way) if there was something off the menu I can order. She recommended me to get the "cha cha cha" and my oh my was it amazing, the broth was rich & it had a tiny spice to it as well. Their pork chashu was one of the best chashu I've ever tasted, it just melted right in my mouth. There was a great amount of fat but I still enjoyed it, more so because they seasoned it very well. Let's just say if you don't have any teeth you'll still be fine because you don't even need to chew it. To conclude, I've been a patron of JINYA since 2015, yes it started off bad and it wasn't the food it was the lack of customer service from the servers (downtown location). After writing my review about it they've made major changes for the better, so I do want to thank the owner for listening to our feedback & responding to them accordingly. Will I come back? As a person whose grown up in Cypress and liked the JINYA at the midtown location, I was so excited to see my hometown adding a JINYA. For ramen, there are two vegetarian options: the vegetable soup ramen and the spicy vegan ramen. This was the first time I tried the spicy creamy vegan ramen and I loved it! It was the perfect amount of spice. I felt like the vegetarian ramen was lacking spice and creaminess, but this one had both. The portion size was perfect for me, and I always have trouble finishing any ramen dish. We went for an early Saturday lunch at 11:30am and this JINYA was very empty which I loved because the Midtown location has an hour wait minimum on a Saturday. The JINYA Buns are hands down one of my favorites! The slow-braised pork chashu flavor is so rich that I even get mine plain (without the mayonnaise and cucumber) and it's still super flavorful. I highly recommend the Tonkotsu Spicy or the Spicy Umami Miso Ramen. I t's filling, it's good, and it isn't too much for what you get. Definitely on my rotation list. I ordered the Sprouting up Ramen, a leafy salad and the 5 piece karage chicken! Each item was extremely flavorful! I recommend this ramen if you're not a spicy fan. The pork melts in your mouth and the Brussel sprouts are extra crispy. Yummm! The ambiance of this Jinya exceeds any of the other locations. They even have an outdoor dining area with a fireplace! Beautiful restaurant, friendly staff. The ramen is thick and rich. I'm not a fan of the physical location because of the vehicle traffic and awkward intersection. Restaurant was quite busy at the random time I went. Pretty extensive menu and while I sat at the bar they were getting constant doordash orders. So the place is pretty popular and is doing well. I can't find any reason to give them less than 5 stars other than maybe the cost. If you start adding other goodies to the ramen you'll easily get to $20 a pop. There is cheaper ramen places that are just as good but I don't know of any place in the area. You can get $10 ramen elsewhere but it's not nearly as rich as over here. read more

My husband and I joined our neighbors for a dinner at Jinya. This was our first visit and would definitely dine in again. We ordered the Jinya bun, Crispy chicken, and Salmon poke tacos as appetizers. All tasted great. Our favorite was the Jinya bun of pork belly inside of a soft roll with a few veggies for flavor. As a main course, I had the Jinya Tonkotsu Black and my husband enjoyed the Spicy Chicken Ramen. Both were very tasty. We ordered both dishes with lower sodium which allowed us to distinguish other flavors within the dish. For dessert, we tried the Mochi Ice Cream in both chocolate and green tea flavors. The taste was yummy and would recommend this again. The Panna Cotta was also tasty as well! Overall, we had a great first experience at the Cypress, TX location and look forward to returning soon. read more

I don't know what else I can say about Jinya that hasn't been said. Not just by me, but pretty much every other person who takes the time to review. Usually people only take the time to leave bad reviews,. But not the case at this restaurant. It seems that everyone loves ramen and this jinya. We have been coming here since they opened, and I have nothing to complain about. I've learned to accept the loud music which was always my primary complaint. I would suggest, if you are a ramen lover, don't be afraid to try different things. Look at the options as far as what you can add to your ramen. We've added butter, garlic, tofu, always a seasoned egg and personally I always have seaweed removed. Don't be afraid to ask for customizations. I have avoided certain things on the menu because of the description in the past, not anymore. I get what I want and just ask for it the way I want it. I do wish that when I substitute tofu for the meat that they would actually allow the substitution and not charge me extra for the tofu. but as it is, I give the meat to my son and get the tofu so it's a win for both of us. I've ordered the butter to add to the ramen, and quite honestly, I don't notice enough of a different to justify the additional cost however minimal. The garlic I think is free, and it is always a welcome addition. I have fallen in love with the Jinya buns. I keep telling my son that I could just come in and have three Jinya buns and be completely satisfied. I haven't done that yet, but one day when it's too hot to be eating ramen, rest assured I will make that choice. Jinya is a hard pass for my husband, but my son and I come in here quite often and personally I like that we have our own together time. Wow I will be back! We came in on a busy afternoon and still I am impressed. We were seated at a community table right away (which we said we were okay with) and given menus. About 2 minutes later a great server came over and took our drink orders and answered my question about if the iced green tea was pre sweetened (it's not!) and explained the menu to us quickly and efficiently. He also recommended an appetizer (which was INCREDIBLE! And came out quickly) We needed a few more minutes when he came around the first time to take our order and we were left only with enough time to decide. Even on a busy day we weren't stuck waiting around to order! Our food came out in a timely manner for a busy lunch rush and was very good. I ordered my non ramen chicken bowl with the rice on the side and they didn't even bat an eye. It was very good and flavorful, fair portions as well (in a small size bowl). My husband ordered the sprouting up ramen and it was delicious. The broth was not thick, but it made up in flavor.
