I went to the Old Colorado City farmers market with friends this morning and we stopped in for breakfast. This was my second time trying Jives but I enjoyed it! Now that it's farmers market season, I'm sure I I'll be eating here often since it's right across the street. It's a really cute spot with a unique feel inside and it's in OCC which is just a cute area all by itself. It's worth stopping in and I suggest going to the farmers market right there as well if you go in a Saturday morning :) cute date idea or friend date idea, etc. I took a bite before taking a picture haha but I got a turkey pesto sandwich on wheat bread and it comes with chips and a creamy garlic dip that they make (which was really good)! Cute Cafe coffee shop with plenty of indoor seating and lounging options as well as a nice shaded porch. They offer coffee, chai or matcha flavored drinks and sandwiches. The iced matcha is good. I got the mama mia sandwich and my friend had the ultimate breakfast. She said hers was really good. The mama mia was also tasty but could have used more oil or perhaps a drizzle of vinegar as it ate dry. They did have a dip on the side which I assumed was for the chips. I tried some on the sandwich and it helped a little. Also, the cheese did not taste like any mozzerella I have eve lr eaten before. My only real complaint is, who I assume to be the owner, was very chatty with guests in line causing an extended wait. He was making drinks at time of order which also felt like could have been handled more efficiently. I would return to try their skyscraper sandwiches and chai. read more

I ordered their specialty, "Red moon," which was a raspberry white mocha, and it was delicious, fruity, and refreshing; it did not taste synthetic or overly sweet. Jives is one of my new fav coffee shops in CO springs, right in old Colorado city which is my fav neighborhood! I had the red moon latte which is a raspberry white chocolate latte - it was very unique but sweet and really hit the spot that morning. You could definitely taste the raspberry too! They had so many amazing looking menu options it was hard to even make a choice - I was inclined to buy two drinks just because I knew I couldn't come back soon (on a road trip) but just one was plenty of sugar and caffeine; two would have been too many. They have bathrooms available for customers, and TONS of tables so you could easily sit and linger in here. Metered parking just out front, but free parking available 2ish blocks away in the residential area. They do also have pastries and food but I didn't opt to get any. ABSOLUTELY rec a visit here, it's an excellent coffee shop!! read more

I really like the vibe in there. It's very... Eclectic and cozy. They have a band that comes weekly, and the owner is very charismatic. It's in a great location, being in Old Colorado. It's near a park and library so you can take your coffee there if you'd like. The parking situation is convenient; there's lots of spots right out front. I personally did not like their drinks. We came here to fuel up for the rest of the day. The entrance is pretty nice. Almost seems like a hotel entrance. There is some seating right outside as you walk in but also plenty of seating inside as well. It looks like they have live music on some occasions although there wasn't any while we were there. We ordered a ham and cheese breakfast sandwich on an everything bagel and it also came with some chips. Everything was delicious. Nothing crazy. Just a solid sandwich and solid chips. They dropped off condiments with the food as well as cleared our plates while we were finishing up our coffees. The food was really good, and the portions were generous. Tucked away almost literally in the shadow of Garden of the Gods, sits this enchanting "coffee Lounge" on the central square of Old Colorado City. On a whirlwind weekend trip to see Aspens sweeping the Rocky Mountains with rivers of gold, we picked a bed and breakfast in this town because we knew of it's on-foot, downtown charm, replete with restaurants and breweries. Full disclosure, a lifetime ago I attended church with one of the owners. We chose Jives in part so I could reconnect with him and his wife. Our first experience was a quick visit the morning before we drove up the valley to find fall colors. We instantly fell in love with the place. And not just because I have an affinity for my friend. Jives has a lived in feeling, boho-chic and welcoming. There is a red upright piano in the middle of the room with the cover pulled back, a stage in one corner supplied with instruments, and a large chalkboard on one wall with the words "Just Married" scrawled in white. It was more than just "cozy". It felt like we entered the middle of a story, like the wedding scene of "The Hangover" had occurred here the previous night. I tried the Red Moon coffee drink (white mocha with raspberry) and the Black Sea (mocha and caramel with sea salt). Cool names and interesting flavor combinations. It's easy to over-sweet such concoctions, but the coffee came through clearly with a nice balance. I would have enjoyed a little more saltiness in the Black Sea. But, it was lovely. Day two, we came back for breakfast and were blown away by the food. Tasty treats and breakfast items are a nice add-on for the typical coffee shop. But, I cannot think of a another coffee spot where the food shined like this. I went for the Classic Skyscraper, a breakfast sandwich with ham, cheese, arugula and tomato, toasted on wheat. She had the Mama Mia croissant. Both were outstanding. With every bite, I was literally saying "Why is it *that* good?" To our delight, Randy and his wife Tammy were able to join us and we lingered for several hours in a wonderful catching-up conversation. I was reminded that they got into this business because they genuinely enjoy people. Randy told us he'd rather work the coffee bar and have interesting conversations than do any other part of owning this shop. Super highly recommended. We will 100% be returning! read more

Walking in, the atmosphere draws you in to just relax. My friend and I fell in love the second we walked in! She called the aesthetic beautiful chaos. I called it eclectic. Either way, it was perfect. We both had a big breakfast but wanted something sip on while we walked around the neighborhood. After looking at the menu we both decided on the spicy chai. Hers extra because she's a spicy kinda gal! They were absolutely delicious and refreshing as we got them iced. The gentleman who made them was funny and I'm guessing either owned the place or was the manager. Either way he was absolutely a delight to talk to! We arrived 30 minutes before closing and were not able to order a coffee in a cup as served in a normal coffee establishment. Instead we were forced to get our coffee in a paper cup despite requesting a normal cup. Very disappointing. I wouldn't have driven to this location if it was going to serve coffee like Starbucks. Ugh I adore this place, from the concept, live music, food, drinks, and especially the sunny outdoor seating - hits the spot just right on a gorgeous spring morning to just look up at the mountains, breathe the clean air, and sip on a delicious cup of coffee. Some of life's truest pleasures can be experienced here! When we came in, we were greeted warmly by who I can only assume is the owner and a new barista he was training. They were so personable and kindly explained what white espresso was to us - we'd never had it before but it was such a mild flavor, not burnt like dark roasted espresso, it had much more of a cocoa quality to it. I got a coconut chocolate latte with this white espresso, topped with whipped cream for extra decadence and it was exquisite! More like a dessert drink than a morning coffee, but I'm on vacation soooooooooo it's justified I also got the avocado dream sandwich, and my partner got the veggie skyscraper sandwich - both of which were humongous and chock full of goodness! They came with a side of Doritos or kettle cooked chips, a bit underwhelming but hey, you can't win em all. Options to have home fries or fresh fruit as a side would have gone a long way! We luxuriated here, savoring our food and people watching. I stopped by recently for a mid-morning date with my husband. We sat outside, which is perfect for people watching in Old Colorado City. I ordered a vanilla latte and a jives breakfast sandwich . My husband ordered some sort of cold coffee confection and the bacon sandwich . They brought our drinks and food out fairly quickly and the service was EXCELLENT. The food was very good. Very tasty and portions were big. My coffee was delicious and my husband really enjoyed his cold treat as well. I was very impressed by how great and attentive the service was. Stopped in after googling cute coffee places to grab food/coffee to go before our day trip, and MAN did we pick an adorable spot. The part that impressed me so much was the gentleman that took our order- he greeted everyone with a huge "hello, lovely to see you today", made jokes about us all having dreams and congratulating us on "being the best" and picking the best food. We got the white mocha and raspberry coffee called Red Moon and the caramel delight! We got avocado dreamin on croissants- it was all delicious , especially the white mocha. Such a cute vibe- music, wines on the walls, indoor seating and outdoor overlooking the streets and park of the old historic district.
