I orginally called the JJ Bakery in Arcadia to order a cake, but they ran out of the flavor I wanted and they weren't going to get any more deliveries for the weekend. Luckily the lady I spoke to suggested I call the JJ Bakery & Cafe in Temple City. Oh, I didn't know they are also in Temple City. Thank you Miss! I called here and spoke to a nice lady who took my cake order. Lucky again, they had the 8 inch Vanilla Chiffon Cake layered with taro, red bean, and custard pudding in stock. It was only $39.80 no tax. Cool! This location is in the Elm Center Shopping Center. Plenty of free parking. Got here early morning. Line was short. Staff was friendly and helpful. Got my cake. Paid for it and left. I didn't have much time to peruse the bakery to check out their baked goods nor did I get a chance to sit in the cafe area. Pretty cool that they have bakery + cafe combo. Most other JJ Bakery don't have this setup. I will have to return here to give them a bit more attention and take more photos. As for the cake, it was very pretty with lots of fresh fruits on top. There was a good amount of taro with a thin layer of custard pudding. Great taro flavor and taste. Custard pudding had the perfect sweetness. I didn't get much red bean though. I forgot to take photos of the inside of cake. I'll have to order it again and examine it more closely. Nevertheless, great cake choice especially for the taro lovers! I will soon be back to get the full experience of JJ Bakery & Cafe. Thanks!

I used to work in another location, so I thought I'd be bored of the breads, but they just have really good food here. If you want a simple fluffy pork sung bun with a sweet mayo filling inside, jj has a really good one, im in love! Some of my other favorites are their strawberry and mango mochi, orange cake rolls, and seaweed roll bun. Its my favorite Taiwanese bakery, Im so sad my local one closed a few years ago in Alhambra. But im excited to come back for more!

The viral mango or strawberry mochi is so good! I like the mango one better. It's filled with fresh, sweet mango slices, cream and cake. You can refrigerate the mochi for days and it still stays soft and chewy and doesn't get hard. It's go good!

We visited for a special occasion cake and had originally placed an order for their tiramisu. But due to a last-minute change of heart (thanks, Dad!), we asked if we could switch it to a taro cake instead upon arrival. Honestly, I wouldn't have blamed them if they said no. But to our surprise, the staff was incredibly accommodating and handled the change with grace and efficiency. That kind of customer service deserves serious recognition. We chose a vanilla chiffon cake layered with red bean, taro, and pudding. Visually, it was stunning: elegantly decorated with fresh fruit on top, each piece artfully placed, and finished with a deep purple dusting that gave it a refined look. Taste-wise, it was everything we hoped for and more. The chiffon was light and airy, just the right amount of moist, and served as the perfect canvas for the trio of fillings. The taro was creamy and comforting, the red bean added a gentle earthy sweetness, and the pudding brought a soft richness that tied it all together. Not overly sweet nor heavy...just beautifully balanced and incredibly satisfying. JJ Bakery always has a great variety of cakes to choose from and they should deserve a spot at the top of your list!

If you're in Arcadia and craving Taiwanese pastries JJ Bakery is the place to check out. ::Food:: Go in the morning to catch the freshest batch. The bakery specializes in Taiwanese pastries and breads. My favorites are the Red Bean, Taro, and Hot Dog buns. Their menu includes food options, but I haven't tried them yet. I also love picking up their goodies as gifts! ::Dessert:: They also offer cakes, but I haven't tried a whole one yet. I've had their cake slices, and they're just okay. ::Customer Service:: Customer service is okay. It is more of a "pay and go" experience. ::M's Notes:: - Parking lot - Inside seating

One of my favorite things in the world are Taiwanese macaroons which are kind of shaped like French macarons, but they're not made with almond flour and the dough itself tastes more like a very light sponge cake. I have actually been looking for these types of Taiwanese macaroons everywhere, and I have never seen them in America until I saw them at JJ's. I was really excited and it tasted pretty good too. If only they had locations closer to the west side.

The mooncakes are delicious and great quality here! They offer different flavors with and without salted yolk like lotus, red bean, date, and pineapple, etc. I really enjoyed all the ones I've tried. They offer box sets or you can buy individual ones from the mini size to the full size. It's great to buy as gifts to friends and family. Or to even try a whole bunch for yourself.

Came for some dinner take out. Food is good and reliable. All the dishes I got today were fresh and delicious, not too salty. Cafe is open until 8pm. Dining area is clean and open. Comfortable spacing. Service is pretty good. Bakery doesn't have much left after 7pm which makes sense cuz they bake fresh. Busy plaza but plenty of parking. Would come back soon.

Located in a busy shopping center, I stopped by for some baked goods and saw a fellow Yelper there. We certainly know what's good in the area. I don't rate 5 stars to many businesses, this one earned it! The baked goods are individually wrapped on the shelves, which is very good. Some items are boxed and ready for gift-giving (see videos). I like this practice, it's good to know others are not touching your food like fruit and veggies in the grocery store. They have cakes for all occasions, each one looks like a work of art, almost too pretty to eat. They sell coffee, tea, juice, and other refreshments. By the cashier is a refrigerated section with prepared meals, packaged and ready to take home, and simply heat for lunch or dinner. Don't be in a rush, come with sufficient time to find parking, browse, shop, eat or take their breads, cookies, cake or pastries home. Don't forget to tell'em that Rosemary sent ya!

Chewco inspires creativity at JJ Bakery & Cafe, which is a family owned Bakery offering traditional Asian breads, cakes, desserts, specialty foods and beverages. Chewco uses innovative ingredients for baking pros. MUST-TRY DESSERTS: Chocolate Mojo: bite sized buns with a stretchy, airy texture and rich chocolate flavor Marshmallow Mochi: a luscious cream wrapped in a mochi skin that has the soft texture of marshmallow; a creamy, fluffy and cloud-like bite Mango Pomelo Sago Bite: a take on the Hong Kong dessert; mango flavor with a mochi heart and sprinkled with coconut flakes Mango Mochi Cake: looks like a mango! This mango cake has chewy mochi in the middle. Some of my savory favorites: BBQ Pork Bun, BBQ Pork Steamed Buns. They do have a cafe with hot foods. I'll have to try it next time. They have wonderful customer service and very helpful. There's seating in the cafe area.

Restaurant has some nice combo sets. If you like Taiwanese food, this place is for you. Some friends love this place and took me here, so I gave it a try with them. With lots of items to choose, my friends suggested any of the combo sets which range between $12-15, that come with soup and two sides. I choose the grilled mackerel and it was so good. The sides and soup was okay, but I enjoyed the variety. For the price, I was very full and had to take home leftovers. Also it is connected to a delicious bakery. Good for a date if you are looking for a place that is cheaper than most places. Parking can be hard on weekends, but fine on weekdays.

The shop feels very nice and clean with a simple interior design. My top drink is probably the White Peach Oolong Milk Tea, which has an oolong tea base with floral notes and a kick of sweet white peach. I like how creamy and fragrant it is. At 50% sweetness, I feel like there is the perfect balance of sugar, tea, and milk. Another solid drink is the Oops Cheese Matcha Smash, which is easily one of their best sellers. This drink is creamy, rich, and indulgent. The layer of cheese foam deepens the flavor of the matcha, making it extra creamy with an enjoyable contrast. Aside from drinks, there are also some snack food options like popcorn chicken and fries. The savory snacks would pair perfectly alongside the sweet drinks. This is for sure a boba spot I would recommend.

You definitely can taste the rich tea fragrance notes in each of their drinks. So far, I've tried their One Tea Signature blend milk tea and their Orchis oolong tea with coconut cloud. I also especially love their popping barley topping. It's a unique spin to the traditional boba. It's refreshing a fun to eat. We also got their walnut custard cake, which was a nice treat. They are slightly crispy on the outside, yet pleasantly moist on the inside. The custard inside added just the right about of sweetness. To finish each mini cake off, each contain bits of actual walnuts on the inside, which really made this dessert well worth it. The only reason I am knocking off a star is because of their staff. They were not very friendly or communicative. The majority of the time, they really tried to avoid making eye contact with the customers. This makes the experience feel awkward and unwelcoming.

Price aside, the drinks are good and on par with what you would find at typical boba shops. The food is where this place really shines. They have a large menu, ranging from rice to noodles to grilled meats served on a hot plate. I got the $21 NY steak today, which was a generous portion, served with sliced onions, corn, broccoli and choice of rice or spaghetti. It's not Morton's but, c'mon, $21 for a steak fix these days is a heck of a deal. Most of their entrees are in the $14-18 range. To top it off, the service is great - attentive and very friendly. The good news is, their chicken steak is still just as yummy! We ordered: - Grilled chicken steak with black pepper sauce and spaghetti (4/5): Super crispy skin and juicy chicken. The black pepper sauce adds a fragrant touch - much better pairing than the mushroom sauce we got on a previous visit. The spaghetti portion is smaller than at most other HK cafes and isn't as good though. - Baked sole filet with rice and white sauce (3/5): Had high expectations for this dish but it didn't quite meet them. The rice used was plain white rice which isn't what I'm used to at other HK cafes and it left me a bit disappointed since it meant the dish was much more monotone in flavor and there were bites that were unflavorful. The fish itself was generously portioned and easy to eat with the warming cheese and white sauce combo. Wouldn't get again only because I know other spots that do it much better but decent overall. - Beef stew with noodle (3/5): Had expected this to be dry style with the beef stew over softened egg noodles but it came out as a soup. Beef pieces were tender and generous. Egg noodles were a bit overcooked. - Sticky Rice Dim Sum: They were massive and decent in flavor. They were a little mushy I think because it had been steaming a while (which was probably why they were quick to be served) but we didn't mind - Siumai: Generous amount of fish egg on top and was pleasantly meaty. We found parking in the front but also know there's a lot in the back. The restaurant itself is big and pretty empty and quiet. We were glad that service was friendly and quick this visit since the first time we were there one of the servers gave us attitude.
