This place is a joke. I went to the Midtown location on 46 W 56th street, 2nd floor. in Manhattan. I purchased a package of 3 set of Ruby lashes. I used two sets, out of the 3. I did not see an expiration date on the voucher. I reached out to the business, trying to book my 3rd appointment and was told, it's past the expiration date, and the 3rd session was no longer valid. I explained to the girl, that I was a transgendered woman, and I've been home bound, recovering from gender affirming procedures over the year, and I haven't been going anywhere, so my body could heal and recover from the surgeries. I asked her could she speak to the owner or manager, about this issue, because they supposedly went from one year time frame to use the voucher, down to using it before six months. Again, I wasn't made aware of this. They basically stole my last session from me. The first session I was pleased, and the second session, not so much. The lashes basically fell off a week later. I only wanted to go back and use my 3rd session because I PAID FOR THAT SESSION, In the package. This bigoted place will never get my business again. They are at best 2-3 stars out of 5. Basic work and the mink lashes don't last. read more

I've been to JJ lashes in herald sq and midtown before, but so far I like this one the best. It's a little out of the way for me, but making an appointment was super easy since there's more open appointments than the other locations. What's great is you get your own room, so it's more peaceful and quiet. My technician was Mimi and I told her prior I wanted cat eyes and C-curl and she did just that. She was friendly and took her time putting each lash on. Also got a nice little foot massage. It was so relaxing that I almost dozed off! Definitely would come back again for my lash extensions. Today, my flight was cancelled and when I asked if I could change my appointment to a later time, the receptionist could care less, and told me I had to pay for my missed appointment as well the one new one later that day ... that's $500 dollars! I understand why they have the late cancellation policy but 1) this was completely out of my control (flight issue), 2) I've been a loyal customer for over 5 years and 3) I was trying to still schedule something for that same day, not cancel. Not impressed with this location. I've been getting eyelashes done at JJ going back to about 2008 when the original owner did my lashes. Flash forwarded - I tried the uptown location after being out of nyc for over a year and decided to try the more "elite" salon. This place is all about upselling from the moment you walk in the door to the moment you try to leave. They try to get you for an extra $60 for flat lashes, they try for different volume packages then they try to sell you by the number of lashes applied. When she finished my natural lash set she showed me the result in the mirror where a huge chunk was almost purposefully missing. I would say the lashes started about 1/4" from the inside corner of my eye. The technician said "oh you have room for more lashes but if I stop now you won't have them covering your eyes. You will have to buy more lashes which is an extra amount". So I was almost held hostage to pay more money...didn't realize natural set meant 50% complete. I have an average amount of lashes so it's odd they couldn't finish the job without asking me to upgrade while my eyes are still taped shut. Ive been doing my lashes for over 13 years and I never paid for a full set without them actually doing a real full set! This place isn't cheap either - and they don't do any discounts. When I went to pay there are 2 envelopes for 2 separate tips. I thought the 5 minute foot rub was included in the price...can't they break up the tips themselves? I went to get some water and sit down to sort out my tip cash ask the cashier lady repeatedly asked me ARE YOU TIPPING? She asked me about 3 times in 5 minutes while I was waiting for my friend to finish her lashes. They don't even let you tip on the card so you have to use their ghetto ATM machine. Seems a little tacky and cheap to make customers withdrawal from a sketchy ATM machine with a withdrawn fee for a so called upscale UES lash place? I think JJ needs to go back to their roots and be a little less pushy and think more about the end result. Update: my lashes have almost completely fallen out in less than 1 week. read more

First time there for eyelash extensions and what a beautiful space! Very bright, clean and welcoming. It's on the Mezzanine floor right on 76th St. My tech was Sonia and she was helpful in helping me decide the length and type of lash I wanted. She took her time and chatted with me the entire time making it a relaxing and pleasant experience. It definitely helps if you speak Spanish with her. There was a complimentary 10 minute foot massage by a Korean guy (might be related to owner) and it was just heavenly. A much welcomed surprise, but I opted not to get the extra time for an additional fee. Great way for them to acquire new business. Kudos to them... At checkout the tipping process is simplified as I was presented with 2 envelopes with each of the names of the tech and the foot massager and the suggested tip amounts on the labels. This place cheated me. I was visiting NYC and a small bit of my lashes had fallen out. I booked an appointment, letting them know my situation. They told me I would need to pay for a full set, even though it was just a fix. I agreed to $125. When I went to pay they charged me over $420 for lashes. FOR A SMALL REPAIR! When I questioned them I was told they had to charge me for a "Hollywood Set." I was so embarrassed and shocked. I cannot believe they do business in this manner. I am pleased to write this review for JJ Lash upper east side location. The staff could not be any nicer and more accommodating. I had recently moved back to New York from Los Angeles where I originally fell in love with eye lash extensions. I went to a couple of "cheaper" places and could barely tell I had even gotten a new look for my time and money. Fortunately, I found JJ Lash and 2 amazing technicians Mei and Jade. Both ladies are so professional and magicians at what they do! You begin with a consultation where you choose between curvatures of the lash. Then you select length. I go with a 13 now but they have all lengths between 8-16. They are excellent at recommending the healthiest lash choice for you. Once you start your transformation you receive a complimentary foot massage which is heavenly. The decor and vibe of the salon is completely serene but also fabulous. The eyebrow is not cool at allll. She said it will last 1-2 years, but after 2 month the color is all gone. My friends did them in China and it last 1 year till now still looking new. I think the color May use sucks so it doesn't last long. What's more, she refuses to do a touch up on me cuz it's over 46 weeks after I finally decide to pay 179$more. I had a poor experience with quality at this salon. The salon is beautiful and the staff are very friendly, however my lashes fell out after two days. I contacted the salon and they were more than happy to replace my lashes, but once again, after a few days they just fell off. I've had lashes many times before at different salons, so I know how to care for them, but it seems that the glue they are using just doesn't stick, which is especially disappointing being that I paid $200+ for the basic lashes. read more

They are patient and answer your questions - for example, because my eyes are very sensitive, I asked about regular vs. hypoallergenic glue. I was very surprised that my recent experience provided such a low quality product that has not even lasted three weeks. When I told the management that, unlike with my other experiences when my lashes looked great for 1-2 months here and elsewhere, my lashes look sparse and have fallen off, I was told to pay for another visit for a "refill." I scheduled an appointment for an eyebrow tattoo with May, the owner/cosmetic tattoo artist. I'm very vain as a lot of women are, & really just wanted to fill in parts of my natural brows as they've been overplucked in some areas, but they're pretty full already. It's been about a month & OMG it's a complete disaster!!! Maybe the fact that I had hair on my brows threw her off? Maybe she's used to working with hairless brows?? Who knows??? One eyebrow is beautiful & round & soft & the other one is way too dark & looks like I'm angry!!!! (I specified I wanted ROUND BROWS in the consult)... I was under the impression that a COSMETIC TATTOO ARTIST was supposed to make the eyebrows as similar looking as possible, bkuz again, I was under the impression that they're ARTISTS. Now, as aforementioned, one eyebrow looks great & the other one looks like it belongs to the evil witch in the movie Malicious!!! I'm still having to fill them in so they look even & so I don't look angry. My last option is to go back & have her TRY to fix them & make the other one pointy so they look even, but I don't want to look angry all the time :(.. Bottom line, I'm gonna have to pay MORE money for tattoo REMOVAL. Thanks JJ Eyelashes Just a little advice, pease do not tattoo ur eyebrows, unless your brows are like, absolutely hairless!!! I got the ruby set originally and then I upgraded to the diamond and I loved both. My first appt was with jade and I loved her work so much I only book with her. Lashes fell off as soon as I left and only stayed on for max a week... and what I ended up with was far from what I had requested. Plus, on top of not even liking the their application, this place is stupidly overpriced. Reception area appeared clean but the rest of the office is not, including whether they apply the lashes.
