I started going to JJs at the beginning of the summer when I was getting powder gel. The powder gel manicures I were getting were awesome. Last time I went I got a 10 minute massage after my nails and the lady had no idea what she was doing. She never adjusted the chair kept talking to me during the massage and barley rubbed my back. I kept asking her to massage harder and where to massage but she didn't listen. Yesterday I wanted to take my powder gel off and just get a manicure. It's $5 to take off the powder gel. I made an appointment with the woman who did my powder gel last time because she did a great job. The woman I made the appointment with went home sick so I got someone else. The lady who did my nails asked if I wanted my nails cut or filed. I said I wanted them cut short. She did cut them short but so short that she then couldn't file them. She never asked what shape I would like them and now almost all my nails came out slanted. I want you to be aware that the quality of the service has decreased in the time i have been getting my nails done at JJs and I do not intend to go back. UPDATE Jimmy reached out to me very quickly and asked me to come back in for a manicure. Sarah did a great job on my nails they were the perfect length and not slanted. The masseuses here are skilled. Beyond the relaxing massages they do great deep tissue work if you're ready for it. I've got knots and calcified tendons and joints from past injuries and they get right in there. I walk and surf better after a session. read more

This is my second time trying JJ's, the first time I wasn't happy with the service but it was a very busy day for them and i decided to give them a mother try. I usually get my mani pedis in the city so Im used to fast paced factory style service specially if its a cheap place. Im extremely disappointed at my pedicure, I literally paid for someone to cut, file and paint my nails. There was no scrubbing of the heels. When i asked later on they said that i had to pay for callus remover. Ive never paid for this, as I think its standard to scrub the heels for dead skin, I do it at home when I shower, I was under the impression that its part of a regular pedicure. Not here, here you pay $17 for file, cut and paint. Not worth it for me. I can go elsewhere. The place is clean and they have lots of different colors. read more

Let me start by saying I have never left a negative review but for this it had to be. I went to JJ nails this morning for a pedicure and a gel powder manicure. I have been there before and sometimes the gel powder is done well or okay depending on who does it. Well after my pedicure (which was fine) I got started on the gel powder. I picked a color, the gentleman (who will remain nameless) doing my nails took of the gel that I had on previously. Once he started doing my actual nails I knew this wasn't going to go well, he dunked my nails 5 times into the powder, 5X!!!! (Before he started I also told him I wanted it done thin) I figured maybe this was his technique and he would thin them out, which he did. However when looking at my nails I realized the when he thinned them he did not do it evenly and to top that the side of my nails were not dipped in the gel at all. After I told him and then he dunked my nails AGAIN!!!! Then thinned them out again blah blah...TWO HOURS later and the side of my nails are still not fully polished but at this point I was over it and wanted to just leave. He then put the top coat on and gives me a shoulder massage. Once he was done with that he went to wipe the nails for whatever reason, they were not dry and he ruined my already not well done manicure. At that point I told him to take it off, and then he blamed the gel polish (which hello if it the Polish why do you have it there?) once he took the polish off my nails for now the third time he then tried to charge me $5 for taking the polish off. Not a sorry, nothing to acknowledge the amount of time it took and how awful my nails looked for all the on and off. I will never be going there again and I would never recommend this place! New review 5/5/17 I was contacted by the owner Jimmy. He was super professional and apologetic. He asked me to come in so he could take care of my nails. Naomi did my gel powder manicure, and she did an amazing job. I'm happy I gave JJ nails a second chance and I'm truly impressed with their customer service, clearly their customers are important to them and that says a lot about them! read more

I stumbled upon this nail salon during a snowstorm and my usual nail salon was closed and mostly every other store in long beach.. I'm simple all I get is manicures after wearing acrylic on my nails for years and finally starting to care about the health of my natural nail.. Let's just say I love this place.. They use quality products and aren't just trying to throw paint on my nails and get me out.. You can tell they care and their nail polishes are not watered down like most other places.. I come about once a week and plan on continuing.. Clean and great service plus the prices are great especially considering they are newer than a lot of the run down salons in the area and the price is comparable.. Basically a better deal! read more

First time coming here and very pleased with the services..staff is friendly and very willing to listen to what you want done. They do eyebrow threading and take their time. The place is also clean and they use individually sanitized packs of nail tools. Overall happy and will continue to come here. read more

I wish I could leave them a 5 star review but this place is so inconsistent with quality. I would not by any means recommend getting tips done. I've gotten tips since I was 15 (i'm now 30) and I've never had them last only a week and chip before I even leave the salon. Pedicures are great like everyone has said however it seems like they're very inconsistent with the skills of each of their employees. I went in a month ago and got a gel manicure, which lasted 3 weeks. However, I went last week and got a gel manicure and it was chipped within 24 hours and gone completely within 48. The ambiance is great and so is the staff however these inconsistencies are going to be their downfall. read more

Have given this dump too many chances and I am sick of it. I actually had a last encounter that put me over the edge and lashed out asking them to speak in English so I knew what they were saying about me. I asked a tech (Chloe) for advise on powder gel color as I wanted a fall color. I kept going back and forth and decided on one she said is better. After the second application I noticed it wasn't as dark as I liked but she reassured me it would. After the THIRD dip I told her I did not like it at all. THAT'S when the fun began. She started speaking to the tech next to her in their native language and I asked them to speak English so I can engage in the conversation which was clearly about me as the gal kept looking at me. Chloe's response to THIS PAYING customer is "You chose the color" and of course I reminded her I did AFTER I asked her for her professional option. I also stated that I cannot understand why I am arguing about a service I am paying for. The other tech suggested a darker color which I liked and I clearly told them I was running short of time for another appt. I had. Instead of removing the 3 layers of powdered gel she had previously applied, she proceeded to add ANOTER 3 layers of the right color AND 3 layers of top coat. The job was horrible, the thickness ridiculous and it also left smears. I meant to take a photo but I was running late for my next appt. and never did. This is NOT the first incident and shame on me for providing them with countless opportunities. read more

BUYER BEWARE!!!! I will never go to JJ Nails again in Long Beach. The woman who was doing my nails completely ruined the shape, to the point that almost all my nails are crooked. I asked her several times to fix it, to no avail. She then asked me to pay, which is standard protocol prior to polishing, but when I gave her her portion of the tip she looked at the $5 bill, then showed it to me and said "is that all?" and then asked "is this just for your nails?". Now usually I don't have the same person for nails and toes, which is why I only tipped her the nail portion, because we had yet to do my pedicure. But I have NEVER been asked to tip/or for MORE tip up front. I was appalled. She then proceeded to paint my nails with a polish that was so thick and goopy that my nails were lumpy and streaked. As she was about to do the second coat I noticed a dark particle on my nail and showed it to her. She then tried to just paint over it saying it was ok. ?????? If a piece of dust etc gets on wet polish the nail tech has always removed it or removed the polish and repainted. She clearly could not be bothered to do so. At that point I had had enough. I cancelled my pedicure and asked her to remove all the polish so I could just leave. I'm glad I cashed in my 10 time frequent flyers card today because they will never see me or get one penny from me ever again. I would say something to the manager but believe it or not I'm not a complainer. And there's no use because unfortunately this isn't the first time I've had poor service there, it's just the worst. Was in the area for work and had some to kill. I decided to try This place for a gel manicure. The establishment was super clean and everyone was very friendly. I was helped right away and pleasantly surprised that they had so many colors for gel! Unfortunately I didn't have time to stay for a facial or pedicure but it seemed like they had many great specials. When was the last time that you got a manicure, and you felt that there was absolutely NOTHING wrong with it? Not one thing??? Maybe you didnt want to complain about a nail being unevenly buffed/cut/shaped/polish not touching your cuticles or finding polish under your fingers when you get home.. Regardless, you would (or I would) leave feeling just a bit unsatisfied. I have moved to the LB area months ago.. searched for the perfect nail salon -- and yes there are many around.. and yes.. I have tried out more then half of them. I got the keratin glove treatment with a regular manicure with Elaine. JJ Nails is the best manicure I've gotten in LB. Period. The salon is new -- recently opened! -- right next to Koko Fit Club. Everything is super clean and the staff are super nice. It is very spacious. They are trying to build their clientele, but I can imagine the place being packed and it not being too overwhelming and claustrophobic (unlike other nearby salons with smaller space). I've given JJ Nails two tries now since I always read rave reviews and figured the first time I went must have just been an off day. Unfortunately I was equally as disappointed the second time I came as the first. Came for a pedicure and powder gel manicure. My pedicure was fine (although definitely rushed), but the gentleman who did my gel manicure had no clue what he was doing. He piled on the powder 3 times which left me with thick acrylic looking nails- even though I specifically noted that I wanted the gel to be applied thinnly. He then proceeded to apply a thick gloppy clear coat which isn't part of the SNS line, so my nails had zero shine. Needless to say, the gel started chipping off after 4 days and the process of having the thick gel removed was painful. I completely understand that the powder gel manicures are more difficult to do than a regular gel manicure, however I would prefer waiting the extra time until someone skilled and knowledgable can do my nails. I unfortunately will not be giving this salon a third try. read more

Decent manicures here. I've had 4 now (1 gel that chipped too quickly & 3 SNS that lasted a good 2 weeks). Jack & Elaine did a nice job with the SNS manicure. It seems you should make an appointment as walk-ins are waiting a while. They could use a little extra customer service, like offering free massage while your getting a manicure (another nearby salons does this), they only do a quick 30 second one after the completion of your mani. read more
